Love this place! The food is always fresh! Healthy choices, not greasy fast food. Prices are good, portions are large. I have had many of the different sandwiches they offer, the salads (Huge salads), Pizzas, soup and more. I have not been disappointed once! Fresh ingredients every time. Delicious food. Great staff. They win in the category of best deli in Oneonta. Their homemade bread is to die for and it is used to great effect in their scrumptious sandwiches. They have an excellent selection of sodas. The homemade Italian pretzels are big and soft pieces of heaven, but they usually sell out early so get them before noon. read more

This is THE restaurant to go to in between games when visiting All Star Village. It's super close to ASV. We went on two separate occasions. I tried a sandwich the first time and it was super tasty. Stopped in here for my first time since my college days. Its just as good as its always been. I think this is one of the "hidden gems" on Oneonta. It's distance from main street means they don't get as much traffic as other establishments. The food is tasty and has an awesome "home-made" style to it. Their menu is expansive and there's something for everyone. They have a lot of great vegetarian options if that's what you're into. It's very similar to the Yellow Deli in a lot of ways. read more

I saw this place on YELP and was definitely interested in the menu options! When we visited, we were greatly impressed that we came back 3 more times during our week long stay in the area! Such a great find for sandwiches, pizzas, salads, pastas and desserts. One of my favorite vegetables is eggplant and the sandwiches were definitely tasty and filling! On one visit, my son had the mac n' cheese sandwich with ham. It was definitely unique and he was happy! He is often a picky eater. He also enjoyed their pizza on another trip. As for their salads, it is a generous portion with a variety of mixtures. It can be shared for sure! On another visit, I tried their Pineapple Upside Down cake! NOM, NOM it was so moist and flavorful. The lady at the counter mentioned that the desserts are also made fresh there! Indulge, it is worth it! On our way to Ithaca, we made a pit stop in Oneonta and stumbled upon this place. We thought it would be the perfect place to eat since most of us in the car were vegetarians. We each ordered a different eggplant sandwich thinking that their eggplant would be spectacular, hence having named the restaurant after it. To our surprise, the eggplants all tasted pretty terrible. I ordered the eggplant special and the eggplant itself was so gooey and mushy...that and coupled with the fact that the secondary taste was just mayo (no pesto flavor at all), I couldn't take another bite. My friend ordered the louisiana locksmith sandwich. Since the eggplant in this sandwich is deep fried I'll admit it was a bit more flavorful, but not by very much. It turns out that the best sandwich we ordered there happened to not have any eggplant in it at all. My boyfriend thought the Po Boy sandwich was amazing. Also they didn't have Italian Ice....which is 50% part of the reason why we chose to stop there. What I did like was that they have a terrific local micro brew soda selection on hand. read more

This place is the best thing to happen to Oneonta in a while. The food is always fresh, delicious and prompt. The salads are always MORE than generous and can actually take a couple meals to finish so take that baby home! Their own desserts are stored in the fridge and the bread pudding is absolutely delicious! They also have a huge variety of different bottled drinks. The Mrs Eggplant sandwich was the most amazing vegetable sandwich I've ever had and whoever created that culinary wonder should receive an award. The pasta salad had no flavor other than sugar though. I'd give them 5 stars if it wasn't for that and the steep price for the kids ham sandwich ($9). If I'm ever in the area again, no question I'd stop for me, but grab something else for the kids. read more

One star off for the minestrone soup..It was GOD awful.......BUT everything else was REALLY great!!...The Louisiana Locksmith.(my b/f got that but I kept begging him for bites lol ) sandwich was one of the best I have ever eaten in my life mmmmm... So many creative to choose from ....I love the pasta salad that comes with each sandwich... Nice unique touch...I had the eggplant salad ...HUGE and delicious and fresh... This is a good news bad news review. The good news is they have the most creative sandwich menu in Oneonta. They are very large sandwiches and come with a side of pasta. You can get some nice soup too. The bad news is they only use their home made white bread which does not hold up to the ingredients. It turns to a flat mush. Why would a sandwich shop not serve really good rye, multigrain and whole wheat options? Also the soup while very good is too salty. Also the bathrooms were nice, and they were clean, except for the doors which were very dirty by the door knobs. Why would you have really nice clean fixtures but leave the door so dirty? read more

We were in town for Cooperstown All Star Village and Undercover Eggplant was recommended to us by more than one person, so we knew we had to try it out. It was delicious both times we went! The sandwiches are HUGE and are served with a generous side of pasta salad. The salads - also HUGE and very fresh. I didn't try the pizza but some in our group did and said it was very good. Great selection of bottled drinks and some baked goods, if you have room after. Check out the specials too, which are on signs near the register. It's very close to ASV (maybe 5-10 minutes tops to get there). Quick, friendly service so it's perfect for in between games. read more

after a lifetime of living in the catskills, i finally made my way to the undercover eggplant last week. the interior may not be the most welcoming, but their food and drinks more than make up for it! i wish i could remember the names of our sandwiches, but i know that mine had chicken, artichoke hearts, red onion, cheese, and lots of greens. my brother's had chicken, spicy peppers, spicy cheese, and onions. both came on the same in-house baked bread, with a side of macaroni salad. the sandwiches were AMAZING. simple, fresh ingredients on top of crusty warm bread. the mac salad was nothing memorable, but tasty. what really sold me was the drink selection. they have immense amounts of natural sodas and juices, including my personal favorite, Izze, which is hard to find! this place was awesome, and i will definitely be going back soon! read more
