In town for a wedding and was looking for a cheap drink...this is a little beach bar with a lot of different activities (kind of like an adult arcade). There was also cornhole and volleyball on the beach. Bartenders were in bikinis but they looked good in them, so good for them! There was a little moat in the bar that I thought was cool. They delivered on the cheap drinks and it's right on the beach. A couple of bachelorette perked came in with a wedding party. The one thing that was kind of funny was the vending machines in the back that had microwave cheeseburgers and pasta and even salads. We didn't get any, but it was definitely a strange addition. We didn't get any food so can't review that, but given the vending machine situation, we decided not to try it. read more

2 stars for the beach view :) we have been there twice now and the first time was better. We were meeting up with some friends and we chose this bar because it seemed close for everyone. The parking lot is small so it can get hard to find a spot. All drinks are served in plastic cups and I don't think they have food - not sure the bartenders never asked if we wanted to see a menu so that makes me believe no food. Ashley was one of our bartenders and it was a challenge to get a drink - she did a lot of just floating around and you really had to flag her down to be acknowledged (which is bad to not ever up sale at a bar/restaurant). When she took breaks there was a tall guy that I am not sure if he really knew what he was doing plus he was handling the trash can while making drinks. Overall you over pay for the scenery of the beach and the cute girls working there - cooler places with cheaper drinks at other establishments. read more

I highly recommend you do not go to Undertow Beach Bar. The owner was extremely rude to my friends and I. The brunette bar attender did not pay any attention to us because they saw we were young. We are 21 years old and can afford to tip you well. However, if you want to treat us poorly for looking young or "poor", then you will lose our business. I was also with others that were on the beach and they lost their business too. They laughed in our faces. If you like being disrespected and terrible customer service, then this is the place for you. read more

I have been going to this beach for years with my friends and have had a great experience every time. Today we were going for my friends birthday for drinks and food, however the experience we had was unbelievably horrible. We enter the parking lot to meet a old man for a parking attendant, who was not in a good mood. My friend who is handicapped and has back problems was asked by him in a sarcastic tone if she could even drive and if she had her license. We told him she is 24 and is handicapped but yes, she is able to drive. As we were trying to back the car in (he wanted us to park in reverse for whatever reason) he was very impatient with us, and told us to hurry up because we were holding up traffic...keep in mind there was only 1 car behind us that could have easily just parked next to us without any disturbance. As we told the old man parking assistant to stop rushing us as we are trying to park, he tells us to leave to another bar and beach. My handicapped friend got out of the car and told him "I apologize sir, I am handicapped and I can drive, however I do have a bit of trouble parking in reverse because of my back and I cannot walk far distances. This is my favorite bar and I just want to park ." He then scoffed and replied "wow, that's fucking great, just go." we were extremely insulted that he was so discriminatory towards our handicapped friend. We left and called management and spoke to Karen. She told us she cannot assist us as she is busy and he is the only assistant and told us to come by another time. The customer service as this place is absolutely insulting and horrible. I do not appreciate being told to leave because my handicapped friend cannot park in reverse. Keep in mind we could not have anyone else drive her car for her because her seat is broken and cannot be moved back, so nobody else fit in the front seat to drive. This is ridiculous and unfortunately I will not be returning to this beach bar as much as I loved coming here the past 4 years. read more

If you are a tourist STAY AWAY! This place seems to cater to the locals only. As we pulled in there a signs everywhere; "No one under 21 allowed! No coolers allowed, etc". We were staying at a nearby hotel that has a beach service in front of this location. I walked the beach the first day, but my wife wanted to walk the street and cut through. We figured we would pay the "beer toll" as we did have a cooler. Bartender, bikini girl not super flattering, said no coolers. My wife mentioned we needed it for her medicine, epipen, low blood sugar. Bartender could care less and said to talk to manager. Well he could not be found. I went back to bar, and she told me that she has a group of under 21 at the bar and does not know whether I would give them beer from my cooler. Seriously??? I don't know these kids. Plus your signs say no one under 21 but bar has a group of them. I was slightly perturbed as we paid for drinks and just wanted to pass through. She immediately went into the "I'm not going to argue with you and I will have you removed from the premises" WTF! Think of this: she sold us beers which we took on the beach and I was then informed alcoholic beverages are frowned upon on the beach. Like get a fine! Stay away! This place needs to and will surely be visited by the ATF! read more

I was staying at the hotel next door--naturally with so many terrible Yelp reviews, I had to check this place out. Quickly became apparent that it was all about the old dudes ogling the bikini clad bar maids, and the young dudes hoping to hook up with said barmaids. After I ordered my drink, the barmaid noted I was fishing around for a tip in my wallet (I'm not an animal), she just stuck her hand out awaiting her tip while she continued her convo with her coworker. I didn't stay long--mostly jealous that I wasn't younger, richer and better looking. Got the strong feeling that the whole joint was run by 20somethings that lived on-site. The 'Tow seems to be hit or miss- sometimes it's packed and fun, other times it's dead and boring. It's generally a younger crowd and they usually have pretty good drink specials. I like the ourdoor area out back- seating, volleyball courts, ring game- all lots of fun. Last time I went it was cold and windy so the back area was shut down and that definitley made it way less fun- it's just kind of stuff and crowded and greasy smelling in the bar by the kitchen. read more

We called Undertow ahead to ensure our group could bring a canopy for the beach front from where we'd go back and forth to get drinks. The day we arrived we were immediately met with hostility and rudeness and told to leave by the owner, Albert Nicklaus. We were confused when the cops were called as we had not done anything that would have required this. The officers explained that undertow had the right to refuse service for no reason at all. So we left feeling discriminated against and later were targeted as the owner called other establishments to have us removed from their beach fronts (even after we received permission from them as well). The cops had to tell him the third time that they could not remove us from the beach since it's public, after which we were met with hours of glaring and staring with crossed arms anytime we bothered to look over from a distance. I have never met an owner who went out of his way to ruin the fun of a respectable group over nothing. The cops agreed that the situation was absurd and led us to believe this wasn't the first time this had occurred (read older reviews from other groups) and listed other locations we should try instead. I am not sure why the owner chose to lose so much business other than the fact that he could not see how we looked over the phone. read more

My wife and I went here last Labor day (Sept 2013). We really enjoy the view and being able to leave your drink and go take a dip in the Gulf. They have a fresh water shower to rinse off after. We only went in the day time and parking was no issue. Our bartender was just average. No smiles or jokes or conversation, just did her job and did it well. Our drinks (beers) never went empty. I am only going 3 stars because they do not have food. You have to order from down the street at Smileys (owners other business) and wait for delivery. The problem is you get it in a bag like a to go order at McDonalds. That is not cool. Sitting in a bar and having to unwrap your food. If there is a mistake, the driver is long gone before you even know it. I am going to try this place out again later this week when I arrive in Florida. It really does have a great Gulf view and the river on the bar is really cool and fun. read more

Upon entering the driveway to the restaurant and reading a number of repulsive signs, which contain a HUGE list of NO THIS, NO THAT, OR ELSE warnings that instruct everyone what they are allowed to say or think and how to dress or act, we proceeded to turn around and leave. Unreal!! Very unwelcoming and, actually, kind of scary. Last week on vacation I ordered $30 in food and aparently they dont serve it to you, they just say your name and your suppose to come pick it up.Turns out if you have severe loss of hearing, and dont hear your name they just leave your tray to sit and wait. Maybe it was that I couldn't hear over the obnoxiously loud bar manager who decided to take it upon himself to take 30 Jager shots in my short sitting at the water bar. This guy was a complete alcoholic, kinda sad, but more funny. $1 beers? What a joke....each beer had been expired for months. Dont waste a dollar at the Undertow- try other spots like Ocean Breeze, The Wharf, Rip Tides, Sloppy Pelican, or Woody's. read more

Excellent BEACH bar! Views are awesome, booze selection is vast, and pricing is decent. Apparently, food can be ordered from an associates restaurant, didn't try it out today. Very comfy seating and large selection. All in all, 3 bars are here so it's fairly convenient to get a drink. It's a beach bar, meaning service is good but it's also on beach time. Parking is pretty much nonexistent which is kind of annoying. Would we come back? Absofreakinglutely. read more

I think this place is a piece of shit. We paid to park on their lot. We drank at their bar - a lot. We put our towels and soft cooler down by the beach. It started to raid so half of us walked back up to the bar to drop everything off at the car. They wouldn't let us take our soft cooler to the car which had Gatorade and a st. Germaine liquor in it. We left it behind a chair on the each where we could see. They knew who it belonged to. When I went to the bathroom they stabbed the few cans, emptied the at germane, and the Gatorade and took the cooler to their office.the cooler was not on their property and she confronted about emptying out the content of the cooler they tries to say it was shot gunned - however the cans where clearly not shot gunned and at Germaine i not a drink on its own. I will never spend money at that bar again and I don't recommend anyone go there to enjoy a day at the beach. God forbid you take a cooler just in case. They will search your cooler out when you're not looking and empty the contents because they are so greedy. read more

This place sucks! It used to be the best bar on the beach but then recently something has gone bad! It's like they are trying to go out of business! I went with a group of friends last Saturday night and it was horrible. The bartenders were rude, the DJ was playing 80's love ballads all night, they did not have limes or lemons at all but they gave me a pack of powdered lime for my beer and even then my beer was somewhat warm!! All of this on top of the place smelled of stale beer and the god awful fence to F up the view! Don't bother going here! read more
