    Cute little shop

I was introduced to this local shop by my family and it was the perfect breakfast stop! I wish I lived here, because I would be a regular at this place. I ordered the breakfast sammie with sausage, egg and sriracha mayo. It was delicious! The mayo is what really took this to the next level. The bread was light and fluffy. The shop itself had lots of snacks for purchase and regular grocery items. It was the perfect local convenience shop. I will make sure to come back here when I'm in town. The downside is it's small, so don't plan to eat inside or really here at all, but it's a walkable city, and there is plenty of places to walk around outside while enjoying your food/coffee.

Got the bacon egg avocado breakfast sandwich this morning. The bacon was barely cooked, which was gross, and I wound up picking it off. The sandwich was also really small (think McMuffin size lol) and wound up costing $9 plus tip with no side or chips. After ordering the mid sandwich I got handed this pamphlet on the way out. Really regret supporting this place that apparently steals tips from its service workers and busts union efforts. Will not be returning.

sadly the management will NOT deal with the rat problem their unenclosed refuse feeds. a giant hole or three disgorges rats everywhere over the patio terrace every night. Management has been asked to account for months of a tip jar and has not. They fired their truly caring senior staff who would nip this rat problem in the bud over labor rights issues. So: good people work here. With good high end products. But.

The front staff was extremely kind and accommodating to my family and I when we came, so I have to add a star for that. My rating is this low because the sausage in my sandwich was legitimately RAW on the inside. I ate about half of it before I noticed. I'm in Arlington visiting family and had to go on an airplane about 4 hours from when I had the sandwich. I was terrified of getting sick, my mom called and explained and the person who picked up the phone told her she was wrong, that it was fine and lots of people freak out about it. I've attached photos to show that it was in fact raw. I got sick to my stomach a few times in the next few hours. I'm ok now but waiting to see if I get food poisoning in the next 12-24 hours. Please consider going elsewhere if you're craving a sandwich. Update: I have food poisoning

My boyfriend and I stopped in as he lives a few blocks away. I found the prices to be (surprisingly) reasonable for sandwiches and salads. My boyfriend got the TAPs grilled cheese, which was more like a sandwich with melted cheese. It had a very tasty sauce that made it and the turkey portion was generous. I got a turkey goat cheese salad which was pretty solid. It normally comes with pickled onions but they let me swap that out for avocado! They also sell your basic staples- milk, snacks, frozen food, etc. Pro tip: this place is dog friendly! They have some out door seating and a dog bowl of water (and even some dog treats!) You can leave your dog leash on a hook right outside if you just need to run in quickly.

    Roast beef sandwich...proper.

They were playing bossa and jazz. I opted for the Aren latte and Indonesian beef rissole. Aren latte: 5/5 Latte with an in-house made 3/5 Aren (palm sugar from West Java) for that hint of molasses and dark brown sugar This was one of my favorite coffees I've had in a while. There was a delicious coffee taste not overshadowed but rather enhanced by the smoky sweet taste of the Aren. I'll be thinking about this latte for a while. Indonesian beef rissole: Batter-like skin rolled in breadcrumbs filled with savory ground halal beef & sautéed vegetables While I've never had this dish before, I googled pictures of what it should look like, and mine seemed to have significantly less meat than it should've. The taste was still delicious and seasoned and hearty, but it was mostly mush with some veggies and hardly any beef. While I thought the rissole was disappointing, I love the aren latte so much I'll still keep the 5 star review.

All the pastry was delightfully flaky and appropriately filled. Pistachio croissant was dancing on the edge of being a bit too sweet but went very well with my latte. Totally inoffensive and wouldn't hesitate to get another espresso drink if we were grabbing pastries again. Nice quaint limited outdoor seating. We were lucky enough to snag some goodies and got a bit of everything, we just weren't patient enough to wait to photograph everything. We did the Za'atar Gruyère Croissant, chocolate croissant, the cheese biscuit item they had (don't remember exact name) and the sfogliatelle. I'm in search of the best croissant in DC, so I regret not getting the regular croissant on this visit, but the chocolate croissant gave me an idea of what to expect. Buttery, flaky, crispy, with just the perfect amount of sweetness. The typical chocolate croissant was my personal favorite. When we asked what the most popular items were, we were surprised it wasn't the more classic bakery items, but we enjoyed what we tried. We want to go back soon to try some other items as well. My friend got a coffee and also enjoyed that! This is the perfect place to stop by for a treat if you make it in time!

The cafe itself is huge, absolutely beautiful, and was packed when I visited. They have both indoor and outdoor seating, so it's a great spot whether you're meeting friends or getting some work done. The pastry case also looked incredible, I had such a hard time choosing, and I'll definitely be back to try more. I ordered a matcha, and I really appreciated that it wasn't pre-sweetened. It was creamy, earthy, and let the matcha shine. If you like your matcha a little sweeter, I'd recommend adding their in-house pistachio syrup. The only small downside was that it seemed like they use matcha concentrate that's prepared in advance rather than whisking each drink fresh. It was still good, but I do prefer freshly whisked matcha. Even with that, I'd absolutely come back. Their menu is extensive, everything coming out of the kitchen looked delicious, and the whole space has such a welcoming vibe. Also, take a minute to read the story behind the name "Tatte." It's such a sweet story and made me appreciate this place even more.
