Such a great family friendly place to eat and be entertained. There is plenty of family sized seating inside and outside. They have swinging benches outside which is neat. Inside there is a bar area which is nice. There is a pretty awesome looking rustic cabinet that is filled with board games, such as codenames, Uno, etc. and table dexterity games such as Jenga, ring and hook, etc. there is a back area with a Foosball table and some arcade machines (these are the 1 up arcades and have been well loved and some have issues). Outside has lots of yard games with dedicated play areas like Bocce Ball, trans can beer pong, ping pong and more. Super awesome! The food is very good! Quick trip in for a cold draft Garage beer while waiting for a pickup order. This visit was prompted by an advertised online special discount on their social media for this week for one of the appetizers, which had been downloaded to my phone. Barkeep was welcoming and helpful. Order process was extremely fast and was handed off to me before I'd even finished my short pour beer. Bar seating was comfortable and had views of the outside areas. Noise level was mild during this Saturday afternoon visit. Chopped brisket sandwich was tender and smoky on a soft bun and topped with crispy tobacco onions. The side of potato salad was one of the lightest, fluffest versions I've ever experienced, and I'd return for this again and again. The OG Burger went over well and was fully dressed and appeared to closely mimic a smash-burger. The side of sweet potato fries that I sampled were nice and crisp and also seasoned well. The appetizer Van Damme with Brussels sprouts was okay, but a tad overcooked for my personal preference. The enhancements with cotija cheese and hot honey sauce were great. Extremely rude manager!!! Just got told I couldn't bring my service animal inside and the manager basically argued with me saying he wasn't a service animal and that's actually against ADA law to even ask someone. First time here and I will never come back. The server was extremely nice and it's unfortunate they have a racist manager running the place. He told my friend she could come in but I couldn't, I wonder if it's because I'm black and she's white because she definitely had her dog there as well! Update: since he has time to respond but not time to read the ADA law, service animals are NOT required to wear vest. We only came inside because the server told us to! We wanted to sit outside and before we did, I asked her if dogs were allowed and she said yes! You were completely rude to me and you know it, for you to say my friend could come in was pointless! Fantastic little spot located right off of the big floor bridge. Super family friendly. Wonderful when the weather is nice. Lots of options for kids and adults to play and eat. We enjoyed some appetizers and a beverage with our toddler and the three of us had an amazing time. After a walk across the Big Four Bridge, we wandered just a few steps over to Union Restaurant & GameYard and immediately knew we'd found a good post-bridge hangout. The big open GameYard was alive with action--people playing bocce, regular and even giant corn hole, while a few groups lounged in cabanas. Sometimes, when you're traveling with children, finding a restaurant that has games and things to do is almost as important as the food. Sometimes, mom just needs the kids to occupy themselves for a few minutes, so she can stop answering questions and drink a glass of wine and decompress and scroll Reddit and not talk to anyone. Union Restaurant & GameYard is such a place! This is probably the most family-friendly restaurant I've found in the Jeffersonville area. It has games inside and out. When we visited, the weather was cold so we didn't play any of the patio games, but they have foosball, table tennis, giant Connect Four and lots of other fun things. There are also fire pits. Inside, there are even more fun things to play with, like old-school video games (Ms. Pac-Man, Mortal Kombat, Street Fighter), a pool table, an indoor foosball table, that one game that's a long table where you slide pucks (I forgot the name of it, but it's here). There are also lots of board and table games, like Trivial Pursuit, Bananagrams, and that one game where you try to swing a ring onto a hook. (Wow, my memory for game names is shite). I read that Union gets busy, but when we visited on a Friday for an early dinner, we were the only people in the joint for a good 45 minutes, so we had free reign of all the games. Ordering food happens at the counter, and they bring you your food to your table. There's a kids menu, but it just consists of three items: a BBQ pulled pork sandwich, a hotdog, and chicken tenders. However, if you have a child who insists on mac and cheese for most of his meals, you will find a side order of mac and cheese on the regular menu. The mac and cheese was great -- extra creamy and made with cavatappi pasta. I ordered the K Pop Tots, which were tater tots with pork belly, Korean BBQ sauce, cole slaw, green onions and sesame seeds. They were beautiful when they came out -- I told the server that whoever arranged them did a good job. The tots were a little too saucy for my liking, but they were still tasty. We also got the beer battered fish, which comes with fried and grilled lemon, and the hand-breaded chicken tenders, which also come with fries. The food was good, but really, you visit Union for the games and drinks and casual atmosphere. It's a place to unwind, and it also has food. It was just what I needed. read more

This place was phenomenal. Our adorable little server was great and very patient with us. The food was amazing, I had the Cali burger and my girlfriend had the 3 little pigs. We also had the badger bites and the Van Damme which were both so good and looked exactly like the pictures we seen on Facebook. Huge outdoor area with multiple tents and firepits, where you can even draw the sides to enclose it for privacy or warmth. All sorts of table games and cornhole. A great scene to behold. Really very pretty. Inside has multiple hightops, arcades, bar seating and TVs, a cool place. The staff was attentive and inviting. We sat at the bar, had a drink, and service was great. The only drawback is that the place was completely empty! There was one tent outside with people (sides were closed), but aside from that we were the only people there. First time visiting this place. We went in the early afternoon on a Sunday, so it was not crowded. Nice atmosphere. Basic sports bar vibe inside. Fun and comfortable outdoor seating. They have cabanas for larger groups of people. The cabana next to us had a television, which I found to be pretty cool. We were sat at our table quickly. Greeter did not ask if we wanted outside or inside seating. Luckily we were sat outside near a misting fan. I was worried there might be a bunch of loud children running around since it's a kid friendly place. I was happy to see only a few children. They have lots of different games to play (bocce, cornhole, table tennis, etc.). Food was good. Limited vegetarian options. Had the black bean burger and sweet potato fries, both were very good. Was asked if I wanted a side of honey dipping sauce, but was not told it would cost more. It was only $1, but would have preferred knowing in advance it was an extra cost. When asked if we wanted a large or small beer, we instinctively said large. Had no idea it would be a massive 32oz beer in a plastic cup. The plastic cup was a challenge to hold with one hand. Next time I will get a small beer. Prices were higher than expected. $75 before tip for two people to have lunch. The bathroom was clean. Had trouble exiting the larger bathroom stall because the other stall's door was blocking my door. Had to use my foot to close the other door before I could exit. There were no hand towels. I recommend grabbing a napkin before going to the bathroom to use for pulling open the door to leave the restroom. I did not see any gender neutral bathrooms. I appreciated having a napkin dispenser at the table. Music was good, upbeat pop hit classics. There was a parking lot across the street. We were in Louisville for Volleyball this past weekend. On Saturday, we wanted to do brunch with the team before they played. In the past, the team as said they came to this restaurant, and the girls always got to play the games they had in the game yard, take pictures, eat, and spend time together with no issues. We arrived at Union Game Yard at about 10:50 and there were already people there. The gate was shut, but wasn't locked, and the place looked alive and ready with staff there. We knew the restaurant didn't open until 11, so we sat outside the gate and waited. At 11:04, they still hadn't come to open the gate, but seeing as it was unlocked, we thought maybe that meant we could go in. Upon opening the gate (which was small and just slid), the owner came out and was extremely rude saying he was "having an important meeting and would come and get us when he was ready." Now, your restaurant opens at 11... seeing as I have worked customer service for years, you are supposed to be clocked in, ready to go, and WAITING for guests at 11..not just starting your meeting, especially when we had made reservations for 11:00. At this time, more families had arrived and there were now 3 families waiting to be let in. At 11:15 the owner finally opened the gate. 15 whole minutes late to work in my book and 15 minutes late to open without any notice to the customers like "hey we're running a little late today, I apologize." until we went to open the gate ourselves and got a rude response. All of the kids immediately started to play games while the adults went up to the counter to say we were here for our reservation. The owner was at the front counter. He said "i'm sorry we cannot accommodate to a group that big today we have other reservations." Again, we had one, and he still wouldn't see us. We then asked if he could still serve us if we all sat at different tables and all had different checks, to which he said no and that he couldn't accommodate us. He could serve us drinks but not food. What restaurant lets you make a reservation and then says "no we can't serve you?" WILD. Then to find out from others that he was always this rude and it wasn't just to the customers made me so sad. Anyway, we weren't spending another minute there and left and went down the street to Pearl Street Taphouse and the owner and all waitresses and bartenders were AMAZING. Several things to live about Union Restaurant & Game House. First, of course is the remarkable selection of games to keep both grownups and kids occupied. Pool, Pinball, Ping Pong, outdoor "beer" pong, hula hoops and bean bag toss to name a few. Second, the service. We had a terrific server~stay awesome Morgan. Attentive, cheerful, sweet. Someone who really loves her job. The kitchen is t as speedy as Morgan, but that's fine, the food was hot & fresh. Now, let's talk about the elephant in the room. Burgers were top notch. Served medium with a juicy pink center, served with warm, but not crispy fries. The dog was excellent. The kids sliders very good. The burrito bowls and salads? A bust. That's the breakdown. For a healthier alternative, more attention is needed. The burrito bowls were 80% white rice with some lettuce tomatoes and chicken added. But the rice dominated. The chicken Caesar salad was a complete dud. If you're looking for fun, cold beer and solid burgers & sandwiches, Union Restaurant is for you.
