First of all, I love this little place. After a delicious dinner of sushi my husband suggested gelato! I'm never going to say no to gelato! So we headed to unique pastry, a place he's been eyeing for a while now. Met the owner and learned they make all their gelatos in house and they change DAILY! It's blend of the owners two heritages! The chimney cakes there we didn't try yet, but definitely plan on going back! The kid got the mint chocolate gelato which was so delicious and perfectly balanced in flavor! I did sample a lot of them and some I enjoyed and others I didn't care for. The lady scooping our gelato said that the Orange Basil flavor was one of their best sellers.. so we opted for that. I'll say this, the gelato is good. It's not the best I've ever had but the chocolate was good (mine tasted a little bit like coffee but my daughters tasted like standard chocolate). The "cookies" flavor was good (think cookies and cream). My wife got a chimney cone and vanilla, wasn't a big fan. The vanilla was nice and creamy but she said the chimney come tasted a little burnt. The staff was friendly and helpful. This was our first visit and they gave as many samples as we wanted (had a few between the 4 of us). Plenty of parking on a Saturday afternoon but in a weird spot on the west side of Jefferson so not super convenient unless you happen to be over there already. Not much in the way of inside seating but they had a few tables outside as well. Felt cozy and clean, clear they care about presenting well and being professional. 4 stars is right in my eyes since it didn't blow me away but love supporting a local business and it was good so will visit again when I'm that part of town. read more

We really love ke this place and the gelato and chimney cakes are awesome! They also make a chimney cone to put your gelato in and for gelato and a chimney cone is $14 each so they aren't cheap especially if you're taking your whole family for dessert! In this particular visit we tried their staple - a Kürtőskalács (Hungarian Chimney Cake) with strawberry gelato. We opted to have our kürtőskalács rolled in sugar and cinnamon (optional). They are experts at crafting the chimney cake with just enough heat to be warm and doughy but not so hot that the gelato would melt and dribble instantaneously. A great balance and not to mention, oh so delicious! It comes with a spoon and a little base cup to capture any melting gelato. The owners are always delightful and happy to answers or make recommendations. Inside has tables, a sofa and books/magazines to peruse over and they also have a patio with shade if you choose to enjoy your dessert in the open air. The atmosphere is always pretty chill. The owner makes the gelato daily in the most delicious flavors, and this spot is called UNIQUE for a reason--I have never seen flavors like they had: elderflower, mojito, and poppyseed! I opted for elderflower and my partner got chocolate peanut butter and cookies. They were generous with the samples. They also have Hungarian cakes that are swirled and cylindrical. They are so soft, made to order, and not too sweet! We really liked the cinnamon one with our ice cream. I also got an espresso and swear it was the best I have had in years. Our first time here on a recent Saturday evening and we were warmly greeted by the owner. He asked if it was our first time, which we responded affirmatively. Out of his chair he flew and stood behind his display of tempting gelatos, offering us samples of different flavors. He offered us several flavors that I had never dreamed I would have ever wanted to try, like lavender, but really ended up liking it. We enjoyed all of the samples he provided along with the playful banter between us all. Meanwhile a queue of fellow gelato lovers was forming behind us now. I know that the owner would have kept giving us samples to try and focus his attention on us until we had decided what flavors to order and let the others wait their turn, but we didn't want to do that to his other faithful patrons. We all decided to order the three scoop cup ($5.95) consisting of three, two oz. scoops of frozen flavors of deliciousness of our choosing for a pre-tip total of $17.85. Our son ordered the cookies and cream and chocolate as his three scoop choice. He was very happy with his choices! I ordered the Opera House, Coffee and Peach. My wife ordered Cucumber, Cookies and Cream and Chai Tea. All I can say is this was some of the best gelato we have all ever tasted. The flavor profiles are all amazing and so fresh. Before arriving here, we ate a heavy rich dinner: this gelato hit the spot. It was refreshing to our palates and not heavy on our stomachs. We were all ready to consume more! We ordered a Cinnamon Sugar Chimney cake ($6.25) to go, to try at home later that night. Since the line behind us was quite long we asked the owner to make the Chimney cake after he had served all the other patrons waiting patiently for their frozen goodness. He brought the cake roll out to us shortly thereafter and it smelled wonderful. It tasted as good as it smelled. So now we have a new frozen dessert establishment to frequent so we can have an excuse to try some of his other rotating gelato flavors as well as a place we will be taking all our out of town friends and family to. read more

The owner is super friendly, she encourages us to try the different flavors and told us a bit about their pastries and ice cream. The chimney cone with lavender ice cream is fantastic!
