United Airlines was a good airline to fly on. I really thought their communication skills were top notch. They kept us updated on gate changes, seat changes, and on any flight delays. I would have to say that the seats are cramped and hard to move around. I would agree you felt a little like sardines packed in a can. The plane staff were all very nice and accommodating. When, we were flying into Dulles there were storms and I think the pilot did a great job navigating the landing. Boarding and luggage were all handled smoothly. My only real complaints would be the extra costs for sitting close to the wing and the cramped seats. I would fly United again, but I might check and see how much business class is, since you have more room. So, go ahead, fly the friendly skies of United.

I will summarize my UA1057 flight from IAD to ORD and my return UA1634 flight from ORD to IAD. TSA pre-check was very smooth for both of us. TSA has all new modern scanning equipment installed at IAD. Our United UA1057 flight from IAD to Chicago ORD was located at gate D7 across from the United Club located adjacent to gate D8, therefore we hung at the club prior to boarding our UA1057 flight. We boarded UA1057 as Group 1, however while online I was upgraded to first class, using my 20 PlusPoints so I was happy. Our flight departed and arrived on time, however we had to spend some time waiting on the ORD tarmac before arriving at our gate. On our return from ORD to IAD on UA1634 I was again upgraded to first class seat 1F again using my 20 PlusPoints several days prior to our departure. I was very happy that I was upgraded on both of my roundtrip flights. TSA pre-check again was very smooth. We hung at United Club across from our gate so it again was a short walk to our gate. We boarded UA1634 as Group 1. UA1634 departed and arrived on time. Our luggage arrived on an earlier flight, therefore we were able to pick up our luggage very quickly. Overall we enjoyed our round trip flights from IAD to ORD.

The United Airlines economy, or even economy plus seats are getting smaller and smaller as the years progress, making for a stiff and uncomfortable journey for any flight longer than say two hours. Having said that this review is especially for their business class - both the regular and Polaris; for the kind of money paid the service offered in business class is not as good when compared to their peers like Emirates or Qatar airlines. As a saving grace, I find them better than some of the European carriers like Lufthansa. Also, I like their regular business class better than Polaris for which you have to pay extra and while Polaris may be enticing on paper, the seats are pretty cramped and the service not so very good.

Last time I flew United through Dulles, I had a pleasant experience. The gate agents were very helpful to any passenger that stepped up to the counter. The seating area was comfortable and large enough to accommodate the passengers. It's unfortunate that many times one or two passengers have a bad experience and they bad mouth the airline, when things like weather, mechanical or other issues could be the ones affecting the timeliness of the flight. Overall a good experience.

My first class meal was really really good! So on my flight from IAD to DEN I had the eggplant parmigiana (which I'm glad I pre-ordered). And it was by far the best airline meal I've had in a long time. The problem is the airlines try to go too far. This was basic and delicious.

    At least snacks are good.

My First time flying with United and my last. I'm being generous with the stars. Mostly good service for the flight attendant and the cabin crew. There's a reason why their fares are cheap. I'm flew direct to Dayton. The plane looked so cheap. There was no walkway. We had to walk outside, and walk up some steps to board. I thought it was a joke. The plane was dinky. The seats were so cramp. Plane had 12 rows one aisle. Seats were not comfy. Very cramped. Flight was very bumpy. Phone customer service is terrible, they out source their call center, barely could understand. United Air fares are cheap for a reason. I rather pay a few dollars more and fly with SW or AA

    First class breakfast from SF

Polaris has some of the nicest lounges I've been to, but for this leg of my 2 week Asia/Australia work trip coming back to the US, there was only their sister company's lounges available so we waited in the New Zealand lounge (farrrrrr better than Singapore Airlines'). The flight itself was nice - it was ON time and I whizzed through pre-boarding and got to my business class seat in just a couple minutes after leaving the lounge. There wasn't much food - I had a small peace of Salmon and fruits, so I can't speak to the actual food, but I liked my seat. I actually preferred it over my Singapore Airlines business class seat which people always raved over. It's more high tech, intuitive, and designed for comfort. I didn't get to stay at the Polaris lounge in SF which I was bummed over bc that's supposed to be one of the BEST lounges United has to offer. I had a layover in SF (and they were boarding already by the time I got off the first flight) and THAT United flight from SF to DC was disgusting but that's bc it's domestic. It was first class but first class in domestic means absolutely nothing. I had to sit next to a woman who wouldn't stop coughing and in this day and age, you better watch yourself bc people get nervous over that. I ended up putting on 3 masks and holding my breath for most of that 6 hour flight. The breakfast wasn't too bad though - sausage, frittata, fruits, and a yoghurt with some tomato juice. I generally don't drink alcohol on flights for work for obvious reasons (and since I don't want to die of dehydration) so I can't speak to the selection there. I'm always going to be a United patron since Star Alliance is what I grew up on, and sure, they need work just like any other airlines, but they are more promising than, e.g., Delta.

The customer service team assists travelers with managing existing bookings, updating itineraries, exploring alternative travel options, and addressing questions throughout the travel process. As an Emerald member with the oneworld alliance, I have always received complimentary seat selection on partner airlines. Unfortunately, this Southwest Airlines experience fell short of expectations. I paid an extra **$140** for seats that appeared to offer a better arrangement during the booking process. However, after my wife and I boarded the aircraft, we realized the seating layout differed from what had been displayed at purchase. Paying additional fees only to encounter an uncomfortable seating situation was disappointing. My assigned seat, **6K**, lacked adequate cushioning, making the journey more uncomfortable than expected. I relied on extra pillows and blankets for lower back support throughout much of the flight. On longer trips, seat comfort can make a significant difference in the overall passenger experience. The customer service process proved equally frustrating. I first contacted an agent in Detroit seeking clarification regarding my flight details and aircraft information. I was then transferred to another department, believed to be located in Chicago, where I was informed they could not assist and was given yet another number to call. That representative ultimately redirected me back to the original Detroit contact. Only after several calls and repeated explanations did an agent finally provide the information I had requested from the start. After boarding, I found the aircraft itself attractive and well-maintained, and most of the flight attendants appeared hardworking and professional despite managing a busy cabin. However, the overall environment deteriorated as the flight progressed. A number of passengers were noisy and inconsiderate, and the lavatories became increasingly untidy within a few hours, with wet floors and sinks requiring attention. Although the cabin crew deserved recognition for their efforts and professionalism, the inconsistent customer service, uncomfortable seating experience, and declining cleanliness ultimately overshadowed the positives. Based on this experience, I would strongly compare alternatives before booking Southwest Airlines for a similar trip in the Future. As an Emerald member with the oneworld alliance, I am accustomed to receiving complimentary seat selection on partner airlines. Unfortunately, my recent experience with Southwest Airlines did not live up to those expectations. During booking, I paid an additional $140 for seats that seemed to offer a superior configuration. However, upon boarding with my wife, we discovered that the actual cabin layout did not match the seating chart shown at the time of purchase. It was highly disappointing to pay extra fees only to end up in an uncomfortable situation. My assigned seat, 6K, was severely lacking in cushioning, which made the journey far more unpleasant than anticipated. I had to rely on extra pillows and blankets just to get adequate lower back support for most of the flight. On long-haul journeys, seat comfort plays a critical role in the overall passenger experience. The customer service experience was another source of frustration. I initially reached out to an agent in Detroit to clarify my flight details and aircraft specifications. From there, I was transferred to a different department--presumably in Chicago--only to be told they couldn't help me and given another number to dial. That next representative simply redirected me back to my original contact in Detroit. It took multiple calls and repeating my story several times before an agent finally provided the basic information I had requested initially. On a positive note, the aircraft itself was visually appealing and well-kept, and the majority of the flight attendants were hardworking and professional while managing a crowded cabin. Unfortunately, the onboard environment grew worse as the flight went on. Several passengers were loud and disruptive, and the cleanliness of the lavatories deteriorated rapidly within a few hours, leaving wet floors and unkept sinks. While the cabin crew deserves credit for their hard work and dedication, the chaotic customer service, poor seat comfort, and lack of cabin cleanliness ultimately ruined the positive aspects. Given this experience, I will definitely explore other airline options before considering Southwest Airlines for future trips.

However, after boarding, my wife and I discovered that the actual seating arrangement differed from what had been shown at the time of purchase. Based on this experience, I would strongly compare alternatives before booking American Airlines for a similar trip in the Future.!!

The first class seats literally have everything you could possibly need for pajamas, toiletries, snacks and entertainment. If there is anything you may need just push the call button or ask and they will do whatever they can to help. Everyone onboard is exceptional in everything they do, especially ensuring you are satisfied and have everything you require. The entertainment offered on board is quite a variety and they keep up to date on tv shows and movies. They also provide flight information in real time and other entertainment options, including music. They do have headphones available as well. The food is order on demand, so instead of setting your dinner order, breakfast order and times, they will share with you the menu's in advance, place your order when you are ready. The dink menu for first class is phenomenal, the vintage scotch and port are two of my favorites. I love to end the evening with a 1964 port. Take your drink to the bar I order to stretch your legs if you like, whatever you are drinking will follow you if you advise staff, business class does not have the same drink menu. The food is exceptionally well prepared and so is the place setting. You will also be asked to schedule your morning shower, I noticed many people not wanting to shower but I have to say there is nothing better at the end of a long flight and no worries of getting cold feet as the bathroom floors are heated for your comfort. You will have 30 minutes to shower total and 5 minutes of water use so watch the timer and turn off in between lathering and rinsing. Once you are ready for bed just ask to have the bed made up and you will be ready to sleep, not everyone uses the pajamas supplied but I find them very comfortable. If your looking for a five star airline, you have it with Emirates! Cheers!!

The long haul business flight was surprisingly bad. On the plus side, the food was delicious and service was friendly. I enjoyed trying a range of Austrian wines, and they were kind enough to give me a second entree. But the hard product - the seating - was lacking. I slept worse than I'd have slept in economy - the seat was hard and uncomfortable, and the temperature in the cabin was swelteringly high. The short haul Schengen flight from Vienna to Athens was pretty standard, and is often the case with intra-EU flights, the "business class" was just economy seats at the front of the plane with the middle seats blocked - no extra legroom or roomier seating. Again, the food was delicious, I was surprised at the quality (and quantity) of the meal on such a short flight. I'd definitely avoid Austrian on a transcontinenal flight in the future. In fact, my return flight was originalluy on Austrian, but I changed to United. Say what you will about UA, but the international Polaris Business class is still one of the best transcon options until you get into First Class territory.

So we go to their customer service and get the tickets, come back in line and AGAIN we're told wait somewhere else until another 30mins to get in line for boarding. So we couldn't even sit down by the gate cause they had it blocked off and only let a few in. Wait what??!! So we board and no air vents for individual air flow. I thought I was going to passed out from being hot. As for the meal? You get what they have! No choice!!! It was more Vegetarian than anything. So if you fly with them or connect with them through United, now you know.
