Solid united club in the new terminal A. You have to take an elevator up or take the stairs to get there. Not sure why there isn't any escalator. Food spread was solid too. It's pretty cool sitting in am open air lounge of sorts looking down at the terminal. Plenty of seating across the lounge. I was there around 7:30 am on a Monday morning and it wasn't as busy as I thought. That was good. Bathrooms are also very clean, but it's not as large. read more

This review is for United club terminal A. I'm a military veteran, and I had a pass. The woman, who I could barely understand would not allow me in. I showed my military information and she REFUSED me entry. And she also said she was "very American", which I doubt. First, United delayed my flight by several hours, and then, the woman (who could have easily accommodated me), refused a Premier United, US military service member entry. Damn Shame!! read more

I went to the United Club in Terminal A. Because I fly a lot with Air Canada and I have reached 50K status with Air Canada, I get to go to the United Club free along with a friend. I always like United Club. The lounge is always clean and service has always been very great. There are good selection of food here ranging from desserts, soup to sandwiches. Lots have changed after Covid. They have prepackaged items that people can take on the go (salad, snacks etc). They now offer chips instead of bread. Food selection has improved a lot. I really enjoyed my time at the United Club. read more

I have found the United Club in terminal C to just have too many people. The Club in terminal A offers some quiet. It is updated and has a newish feel. The offerings are what you would expect which are fine. Probably more important is that you can get very good customer service for flight changes or other issues. read more

The food is average, the service is basically lacking. The self service soft beverage machine is down as of this review. An attendant directed us to the bar to obtain the bar tender's attention to get a soft drink. Bar tender is not really attentive. Wait for a while to get anyone's attention. Supervisor has walked past multiple times, nothing has changed or improved. Here's some customer service advice: Engage with your valuable guests who tip and appreciate service. That's what the travel industry is, 'customer driven'. Premier service is earned, not granted. The restrooms are very clean and get five stars. The attendants are helpful. The lounge seating areas were all brand spanking new but I was a little disappointed in the buffet spread of food at the lounge and the lack of showers. Really a missed opportunity. It's been a long time since I was in Terminal A at Newark Liberty International Airport - over 10 years ago. Since then, the United Club here has undergone a major retrofit - and all for the good! This location is nice and modern. And not packed to the gills like the other United Clubs in other parts of Newark Liberty. I hung out for a couple of hours waiting to board my flight home. The best kept non-secret at EWR, if you fly united, is the lounge at terminal A. Terminal C is now filled with the pop up variety, which is/are often crowded to capacity and pretty poor about getting g work done or even finding a seat. The revamp in TA is well received, and it's hidden location on the way out of the terminal keeps numbers down. I can see why some with longer layovers take the shuttle over here rather than stay with the masses in TC when this so much easier to deal with - there are even a couple of 'phone booths' for calls - albeit filled with at least one person hardly on a call but clearly enjoying the solitude a glassed enclosure might bring. This is a welcome addition to Newark. read more

It's so nice to see a small portion of my United Airline's yearly expenditures go towards updating this Club - I never thought it was a terrible place considering it was an escape from the dirty cramped space in this terminal, but now this refuge with its new facelift is like finding an oasis again. I've always had a great experience with the United Customer Service Staff here but with newly updated amenities I now look forward to taking the air tram over knowing that I'll only have to spend a few moments in the terminal before boarding my flight. Beautiful floors, all new modern furnishings, white quartz countertops, community tables and tons of outlets that work. The front desk agent was courteous and smiled as I entered and left. This United Club is located in Terminal A after security. It's a newer, renovated lounge, nice and clean. It's a great place to get some breakfast, snacks, drink, etc before or after your flight. I was so happy to see some Numi tea, which is my favorite brand. I may or may not have taken some extra black tea bags... Very nice wine selection though you have to pay extra for the fancier items. I was there around 8 in the morning so I figured it was a bit too early... Overall, nice lounge and sure beats waiting around or eating at a fast food place in the terminal. read more

I carry a Continental Airlines affiliated Chase MasterCard that gives me access to the Presidents Club when I travel. Having visited a couple of them recently, it's safe to say that all of the Clubs that CO operates are exactly the same. Plenty of comfortable seats, a section of workstation areas, electrical outlets everywhere, clean restrooms, free wifi. CO also has a bar with free drinks which includes sodas but also two or three brands of beer and a few wine offerings. Some 'premium' wines are also available for a charge. Food offerings are the same at every President's Club. Individual bags of chips or Fritos, individually wrapped cheese, a small tub of spreadable cheese, individual crackers and some fruit. Nothing hot. Nothing unusual. The Clubs don't allow you to bring in food from outside. The A terminal club is located near the security screening area. You have to just about leave the 'secure' area, but just before you get to the 'beyond this point', it's on the left side. read more

As I am sitting here away from the masses of annoying people and screaming kids I realize that this is the best thing going at an airport. Newark's Terminal A has to be the worst place in New Jersey (actually, Terminal B might give Terminal A a run for its money...). There is no seating, it serves regional flights which are perpetually delayed, and the bathrooms and food offerings are abysmal. The United Club is an oasis is of calm (it's actually hard to spot, you go through security then turn back as if you're heading to baggage claim, then you spot the club on the right). When I went on a Tuesday morning, the club was mostly empty, and the staff nearly outnumbered the passengers. The food offerings were limited: a southwestern vegetable soup, which tasted nice, some brown lettuce, cheese and crackers, and bags of chips and stale cookies. On the plus side, they have a Coca-Cola freestyle machine and an Illy coffee maker that makes decent espresso, but this is a place for a snack, not a meal. They have a well stocked bar: Bud and Coors light are free, you have to pay for premium drinks. Still, the staff was friendly and worked diligently to clear used plates and glasses from guests tables. The tables and comfortable seats were immaculate and it was easy to get work done. I give 4 stars since this club compares favorably to the clubs in Terminal C which are badly overcrowded and understaffed. If you're not an elite or on an international first class ticket, you have to pay $59 to enter, which isn't worth it, but if you have a pass or free access, this is an acceptable place to kill time. read more

On this day I had a 6 hour layover at Newark Airport. I needed a place to plug in my laptop, get onto the internet and do some work, preferably in a place that was relatively quiet with few announcements and without the noisy hustle and bustle of travelers. While I do have a frequent fliers card with Continental, I don't have the status I need to get into their president's clubs. For me to come here to get work done for one day it was $50 for the privilege of using this lounge, but to be honest, it was worth it to go somewhere quiet, plug in, connect to the 'net and have a few complimentary bottles of water, soda and a few bags of chips while I worked away. They also offer a full, complimentary bar as well, but I didn't take advantage of that on the day I was here. If you give them your flight number when you enter, they'll make an announcement to let you know when they're about to start boarding. read more

First of all it is hard to find these United lounges at this airport, and this is a United hub! I usually go to the American Express lounges and this is the first United one I have been to. I had two passes and bought a pass for my daughter for $59, what a waste as she is a minor and does not drink and hardly eats, at least she was able to charge her phone here. The food was mediocre at best and not much of a selection at that. I went to the bar and ordered my usual Bombay Sapphire and tonic and I was surprised when the bartender told me that I would have to pay for it. I explained that I was used to the AMEX lounges and he said that the UA lounges were nothing like that, If I wanted free drinks I had to choose from the low budget alcohol and wines. Very disappointed. The seating was nice but the amenities were very limited, I am sure the United Polaris lounges are much better. At least it's better than hanging out in the terminal. read more

My parents and I were trying to get out of the city before a storm and the lovely woman at the United Club helped us determine the best way to get to our gate in the quickest way possible (my dad had gone to return the rental car and wasn't there and it was almost time to board!). Save your money! Only reason I'm giving it 1 star is due to the rudeness of the front desk employees. They were frosty from the moment we got there and never were slightly friendly, and never even cracked a slight smile. One even came by our seats and barked at us for how we were sitting, as if that was any of her business. This same lady ignored us repeatedly when we were trying to ask a question later. If I were to take out the experience with the incredibly rude employees, I'd probably give it 3 stars. Amenities were decent, but lacked a place to lay down. The food was adequate, but still disappointing. Only reason we purchased was because we knew we would be stuck at the airport 6+ hours and needed a place to rest/relax. This was an upgrade over waiting at the gate, but the rudeness outweighed any benefit to me personally. Not worth $59.99 to have employees bark at you and then ignore you when asking for help. 2019.08.11 Well I must say the United Club here in Newark is a surprise. I usually avoid United as their seats are the smallest of all economy cabins. Though I was able to take advantage of the plus upgrade for a reasonable cost. And I will say the plus gives you as much space as a Southwest flight. But this review is about the airline club. It's not big but it's very clean, very well spread out and I am and have enjoyed my time here. Not much of a selection when it comes to the breakfast menu. Though I do enjoy hard boiled eggs and sirachia sauce. They serve "illy" coffee so that is a plus for coffee drinkers. I've been drinking coffee since age five. The top coffees are the ones that either taste exactly like coffee or they have an extra flavor like Smokiness of chicory like Cafe Dumonde or stand out Aribica like Moreno from Napoli proper. So entry is $59 but military on orders can access the club for free with a boarding pass for a flight within the next 24hrs. Neat perk, and in top of that Active Duty gets on first. United is fast becoming an up and comer for my air travel. read more

This isn't my first rodeo at a United Club - thus, I'm surprised at such low marks - compared to other stateside clubs, the fact that they are serving more than a few pallid leaves of romaine and lukewarm coffee makes it at least a 3.5 in my book. If you're looking to nosh, which, it's always snack time somewhere, so do it - they have hummus, veggies, slim salad fixings (kale, croutons, etc), veggie soup, apples/nanas, trail mix, and chocolate covered things. Nothing fancy, but I've seen way worse. To be fair, the Newark airport has reallllly stepped up its food game recently, so honestly you can eat way better outside the club - thus, if you're truly doing it properly, stop at the bahn mi hut or salumeria in the terminal and smuggle in the goods; you'll be the happiest of campers. If you're looking to get slammed - drinks are gratis and the bartenders are friendly - not in that creepy way (disappointing) - but in that way that took the edge off my 4h layover. As G-d was smiling down on my Central American jaunt, fortunately I didn't need them to rebook a flight for me - but the business homie next to me did, and the hostesses or whatever did it easily and with a smile. Not being the one to listen to U's verrrrry agro hold music makes the price of club entry alone well worth the $. Crowd is a mix of harried families, business travelers, some rando who decided it was appropriate to take off his pants and wear only his long boxers (lots of questions), and internationals - overall, makes for excellent ppl watching and eavesdropping - if you need to crank out a ppt or make a conference call, it wouldn't be hard to seclude oneself away from the shenanigans inherent in air travel these days. Ample comfy leather chairs, a TV lounge, lots of natural light, reliable wifi, and plenty of places to charge your various iDevices. Would I pay the $50 for one-time entry? My biggest complaint is that you CANNOT bring in outside food or drink. I don't see why because they only have snacks. I tried to bring in a salad, but they made me eat it outside before i could come in. International lounges seem to be a big nicer and have more hot food options. But I guess some is better than none. This lounge is good size and I've yet to see it as full as the other one in Terminal C, by the starbucks. I actually prefer this one. I like the seating options of a couch, cushion chair, or semi private desks. I do appreciate the self serve snacks, water and coffee. Plus the free bar drinks are nice. If I ever need customer service, I always pop in the lounge for help instead of waiting in the long lines at the gate counter. The lounge reps are kind, patient and very experienced. They were able to help me snag the last few seats on another flight when mine was canceled. And of course free wi-fi is a nice benefit. read more

I don't understand why the international clubs are always better. I saw Hulk Hogan the last time I was in the Newark United Club so that deserves an 1/8 extra star. This United Club is a welcome diversion from the anarchy that takes place at the boarding gates. While not the best lounge in the world, it's clean, has larger sized and comfy chairs, Internet, and a decent food spread. At the end of the day, that's what it's supposed to be. All that being said, I've definitely been to better, more modern lounges that really go above and beyond to make it feel more like a hotel experience. This lounge is slightly dated, but not too much so. They have good breakfast options, but not the best. Good drinks, but not the best. This pretty sums up my feelings on this lounge, it's good, but not the best. It's located close to the gates, so it's a very convenient option. Again, now that airline gates have become a mosh pit of screaming kids, strong smells of Big Macs and loud talkers, lounges like these are a breath of fresh air. This review is for the United Club in Terminal A. EWR's a tough place to be. As a representative, you're constantly working with stressed out people trying to make their flights or rebook them, people who don't speak English, families with young children, etc. It can take a lot out of you. But as someone in the service industry, you should never cross that line where you begin taking it out on your customers. This isn't something that happened inside the Club. It happened in the main boarding area for our delayed flight, and the lady refused to take questions and yelled at everyone to go to the customer service desk and was overall extremely agitated. We were trying to find out when our delayed flight was to board. We ascertained that it wouldn't be boarding for another 45 minutes, so we made our way to the United Club in the small area of Terminal A that contains the middle-numbered gates. I had some free passes that expired at the end of March, and a delay was as good an excuse as any to give it a shot. The difference in customer service was night and day. A lady in her 50s took our names and our free passes and apologized for the experience we had had in the boarding area. She advised us that the incoming flight would come in in about 45 minutes and that they would try and turn it around quickly, and that we should be ready at that time. Inside the club we availed ourselves of complimentary house wine and whiled the minutes away doing email and charging up. (They even have a fax machine that is effectively an informal communal printer: You can go online, and fax whatever you like to the printer, and it prints.) We had more problems with our flight later, but at least we were able to find some solace in some complimentary booze and amenities. The workers/servers are so nice here, I am upping my review. They work extremely hard, constantly cleaning and re-filling. Eggnog and candy canes at holiday time and booze at the bar to put in your egg nog to calm my pre-flight jitters..along with shortbread and chex mix... I can't ask for anything more! read more
