We live close to United Dumplings and have been many times. We enjoy the Sichuan dumplings, cucumbers, green beens, and Grandma's pork dumplings. Our daughter loves the Singapore friend rice, which we'd never have thought to try without her input. We would come twice as often if the service weren't incredibly slow. Multiple times we've had to leave an adult to pay the bill and take the kids home, waiting for a single item after we've been done with all the rest of our food for 20+ minutes. Plus there's an option to order for pickup but they never start fulfilling it until you have arrived anyways. If you're patient and looking for solid neighborhood food it's a good stop. read more

Came for a lunch on a Sunday before continuing with our san francisco adventures. The restaurant wasn't super busy at 11AM so we were quickly seated. The staff was very friendly and accommodating, particularly in helping us decrease the spiciness of some of the dishes since my toddler refuses to eat anything spicy! We tried a bunch of items from the menu including the five treasures XLB, beef noodle soup, grandma's pork dumplings, wonton in chili oil, dan dan noodles, and happy family cucumber salad. Everything was super tasty and really satiated our appetite! My two favorite dishes of the meal were the cucumber salad and the dan dan noodles. The cucumber salad was perfectly marinated and had a great balance of sweet, savory, and vinegary, which is just the way I like it. The dan dan noodles were a huge hit with the whole family. My husband loved the texture of the noodles, which were 'QQ' as we like to say in Taiwan (in english: bouncy and perfectly al dente). I really liked the peanut sauce, which wasn't too thick and could easily be mixed in with the warm noodles. My son was too busy slurping to tell me what he loved best about the noodles! We noticed that they offer a dumpling making workshop for large groups, and I think we will definitely do this for my husband's birthday next year! We ordered pea shoots, flat noodle with beef (beef chow fun really), sichuan dumplings in red oil and grandmas pork dumplings. The pea shoots were crunchy and tasty with garlic. I was expecting flat noodles with beef to be something different but it was beef chow fun in a Chinese restaurant. Although I believe theirs is way tastier, just has to be a little less oil. Too much oil on this dish. We loved the sichuan with red oil. One of our favorites. The grandmas pork dumplings melt in your mouth. The dough was airy and so soft and instead of using the dipping sauce, we use the sichuan red oil which elevated the flavors. Overall we had a great experience. We'll definitely be back. Service was excellent, but I think this place may be done for. There aren't a lot of folks frequenting the establishment, which is definitely northern China influenced. Many of the Chinese restaurants in SF are Cantonese so you're getting a different style of food and cooking. However, they make their own rice noodles! I don't know a lot of places doing that and the wok hay for their dishes is superb. The beef noodle soup is a little more on the vinegary side, but it still hits the spot and portions are generous. Much better idea to come here if you are at least two or three people, and can split some different orders. I'll definitely come back. Not as good as din tai fung, but they don't have a place in sf. The food was good and service friendly. The Har Gow was delicious 'tho a tad more expensive than what I'm accustomed to from Dim Sum restaurants ('tho the quality and size was better than most). I'd say, look at the menu and prices and you'll know what you're walking into as far as projecting a dining experience bill. I'm more accustomed to a no-frills Chinese (Cantonese) dining experience and I think we paid $60 and weren't full (still hungry) for lunch for 3, so at $20 per person it's on the higher end for us because we still wanted more. I'll say this 'tho, we ate everything and it was all good. So, what I challenge for us and our needs is either the pricing or the portions. The quality is there and good already. United Dumplings has a strong Northern China influence which reflects in the food they offer at their Bernal Heights location on Cortland Avenue in San Francisco. One of my favorite dumplings is the Shanghai -style Xiao Long Bao dumpling. The pork soup dumpling at United Dumplings was juicy with the broth from inside and soft texture on the outside. The dumplings were in these little cups which resemble miniature candles. Each bite was fluid and savory. They do have good pairing offerings with the dumplings like their fried mushroom tempura. My surprise new favorite noodles are the Sichuan Dan Dan noodles which were soft and it has a tasty spicy pork sauce which was very flavorful. The sauce was not watery but had a thick broth savory sauce. It also had a sprinkle of peanuts which gave it an extra kick. Another pleasant surprise was their Steamed egg custard bao. I do like an egg a little runny. This egg custard bao was soft and in the middle it had a burst of egg yolk. My type of bao. I pre-ordered a catering request ($500+tip in advance) and when I went to pick it up, they chastised me for not having a box to carry it all out. I've never had an issue with other places when pre-ordering catering in advance, but sure. They made a big show of having to cut a vegetable box and stacked the trays inside but didn't put them all the way flat. When I carried the box to my car a few paces outside the store, sauce leaked from the trays, through the holes in the box, and all down my new pants. They gave me a few napkins for my trouble. Luckily, I had a beach towel in my car but I had to go to two meetings with a mess of stains on my new pants and shoes. The stains never came out so I had to throw both out. Additionally, the food was also mediocre compared to the Rockridge location. It's likely due to making it in bulk but it was just a cherry on top of a bad sundae. I liked United Dumplings, despite it being pricey for what it is, but I will not be returning to this particularly franchise in Noe Valley or likely any others after this experience. read more

It's the perfect spot for comfort food. The ambiance is chic and bright with lots of natural sunlight. One of the walls features all the reviews and accolades the restaurant has earned while another shows cute drawings children have made. The service is quick with prompt refills of water. The food is out in a relatively short time as each dish is brought out as soon as it's ready. The first time we stopped in, we found our favorites so our order rarely shifts. Mom Owned Restaurant in the Bay Area! Combining California flavors with Northern China roots, these dumpling will surely impress. They have 3 locations in the Bay Area - 2 in the San Francisco and one just over the bay bridge in Oakland. Their menu consists of dumplings, more dumpling, and noodles and dishes you can pair with dumplings! While we were excited and hoping to try the Jumbo Pork Soup Dumpling that they're known for, we were informed after that it's now only available at their Rockridge location if anyone is wondering! We did however get to try a couple of their other delicious dishes! We were definitely impressed by the quality of the food and you can tell that there is a lot of preparation involved. The dumplings tasted great and we can only imagine how amazing it'd be in its jumbo format! The Sichuan Dan Dan Noodles had a delectable combination of chili and peanut flavors that had us finish every last bit of the plate. The workers were very nice. Parking hard to find depending on time of day, it is sf after all haha but the place is cute and they have kids drawings on the walls. The first time we came was during COVID after the birth of our little girl, it was one of the first places that we got to go on a date. Although I remember this place vividly, I forgot to review it until recently. I really love the Sichuan Dumplings in Red Oil, Pea Shoots, Soup Dumplings and Garlic Green Beans. My boyfriend had the XX-Large Dumpling, which is fun but not as good and flavorful as the smaller soup dumplings. The last time I went, we ordered the beef noodle soup and it was so savory and delicious that it became my new favorite dish. Came here with a friend on a Sunday evening. The staff were very friendly and welcoming - one staff member even helped me take off my jacket as I sat down! The waitress walked us through the menu and highlighted some recommendations! She also brought out a sample of the potato salad, which was very tasty - it consisted of small strands of potato dressed in a flavorful sauce! We ordered the Pea Shoots, Xiao Long Bao (both Chicken and Pork), the Chicken Dumplings, and the Shiu Mai ! The pea shoots were honestly the star of the show - they were tender and very flavorful! Happy Chinese New Year! It's the Year of the Dragon 2024! We watched the San Francisco Chinese New Year Parade 2024 on KTVU Channel 2 and ordered United Dumplings to celebrate the at home, so the ambiance and service were excellent! Seriously, we received our Door Dash order very promptly, and the pot stickers, dumplings, chicken wings, vegetables, fried rice, and sesame ball with red bean paste was very good. United Dumplings is a real surprise--I haven't found flavors like this anywhere else. Their Grandma Pork Potstickers are the highlight for me. They taste so authentic and homemade, with a thick, chewy dough that makes them stand out. I haven't found anything in San Francisco, or honestly anywhere in the U.S., that has this level of authenticity and texture. I love dim sum. I've been going for over 30 years, so I like to think I know what I'm talking about when I eat it. We have a growing list of must try's and this place was up next so we opted to hit this location out of the available 3 options between Berkeley and SF. Clean, roomy location, parklet for outside seating is available. We had 5 so we sat inside to have more table space for the dishes. We tried quite a lot of goodies; curry fried rice, shrimp toast, mission pot stickers, Korean beef dumplings, chicken and mushroom truffle dumplings, chicken wings, green beans, pork xo bao, grandma's pork dumpling, and spring rolls. Everything was good. I have a bar of expectation with chicken wings so I was initially hesitant to order them to avoid being disappointed but they met the challenge. Sticky, crispy, slightly spicy, sweet - all the umami. The curry rice was excellent! Delicious flavor, chicken was moist, really lovely dish. The mission pot stickers were fun to try but I likely wouldn't get again, cheese and dim sum don't really go together in my brain. No complaints, just a little strange given the context where eating it. The shrimp toast tasted good but, for me, I'd prefer it not be called shrimp toast. Maybe they use dried shrimp in the batter to get the flavor, but it was basically a doughnut. It is served with powder sugar on top. Honestly for me, if the dish was called anything else it would have been excellent for what it is. Comparing it in my mind to shrimp toast created an unmet expectation. I like a little more variety with my dim sum, lots of traditional items not available here. I knew the menu going in and wasn't sure it would be an issue for me or not, but I did feel like I was missing something by the end of the meal. There are SO many options in the city, so it's cool as long as you go into it knowing they are mostly a steamed dumpling option and noodles/rice. Observation more than complaint. I've had them before, and the food is good. This is my second time trying, but I ordered to go, and they gave me a pickup time of 5:11 pm. When I got there, the food was not ready. Then he said another 5 minutes and came back again, and I had to give them my order number and name again. Then they said another 3-4 minutes. I got my food at 5:25 pm, and the rice was soggy and had no flavor. I asked for sauce for the calamari, and she said some were in the bag. It was only chili oil. I asked again for dipping sauce for the calamari and eventually got two different dipping sauces. I ordered the Kimechi fried rice, which was trash compared to the first time I ordered. The Calamari was delicious. I was very disappointed to have to wait, and the rice was rushed and nasty.
