Came for a lunch on a Sunday before continuing with our san francisco adventures. The restaurant wasn't super busy at 11AM so we were quickly seated. The staff was very friendly and accommodating, particularly in helping us decrease the spiciness of some of the dishes since my toddler refuses to eat anything spicy! We tried a bunch of items from the menu including the five treasures XLB, beef noodle soup, grandma's pork dumplings, wonton in chili oil, dan dan noodles, and happy family cucumber salad. Everything was super tasty and really satiated our appetite! My two favorite dishes of the meal were the cucumber salad and the dan dan noodles. The cucumber salad was perfectly marinated and had a great balance of sweet, savory, and vinegary, which is just the way I like it. The dan dan noodles were a huge hit with the whole family. My husband loved the texture of the noodles, which were 'QQ' as we like to say in Taiwan (in english: bouncy and perfectly al dente). I really liked the peanut sauce, which wasn't too thick and could easily be mixed in with the warm noodles. My son was too busy slurping to tell me what he loved best about the noodles! We noticed that they offer a dumpling making workshop for large groups, and I think we will definitely do this for my husband's birthday next year! I'm sure our friends will enjoy the hands-on fun and the food. Parking can be a little challenging, but we were able to find a spot a little bit down the street next to the grocery store. I can imagine this being a lot more difficult on weekdays during rush hour though!

We were there yesterday, Saturday for lunch. Lady greeted and seated us right away. Small restaurant, friendly and family atmosphere. Nothing exciting about the place. We ordered pea shoots, flat noodle with beef (beef chow fun really), sichuan dumplings in red oil and grandmas pork dumplings. The pea shoots were crunchy and tasty with garlic. I was expecting flat noodles with beef to be something different but it was beef chow fun in a Chinese restaurant. Although I believe theirs is way tastier, just has to be a little less oil. Too much oil on this dish. We loved the sichuan with red oil. One of our favorites. The grandmas pork dumplings melt in your mouth. The dough was airy and so soft and instead of using the dipping sauce, we use the sichuan red oil which elevated the flavors. Overall we had a great experience. Food was delicious and we enjoyed our lunch. It is a must try in the Cortland area. We only took 2 pictures and forgot to take the other took as we were hungry!

Great service but the food was not good unfortunately. The prices were overpriced and more expensive than on their website... beef curry pan fried dumplings - barely any curry flavor and super lightly fried which was very disappointing dan dan noodles - super watery, barely any flavor, and barely any meat spicy wontons - decent korean bbq dumplings - ok, lacks flavor... def needs a sauce

Dumpling sampler - despite the color they didn't taste that different from each other.

Enjoyed my dinner of dumpling sampler plate and Chinese broccoli. Service attentive.

3/31/24 I came here for an early dinner (5:30PM) with two friends. I was able to find parking fairly easily even though I don't come to this area of the City often. Do be careful of the narrow streets though.. Here's what we got to share: - Sichuan dumplings in red oil - Chicken mushroom truffle dumplings - Pork soup dumplings - Spicy dan dan noodles Not pictured - Ordered a Singapore curry chicken and rice to go for my lunch tomorrow - Kimchi fried rice + korean beef dumplings for my sister It's a relatively small interior and it wasn't busy when we got there. Everything came out pretty quick. I honestly love eating dumplings so being able to choose a variety of them to eat in one sitting was great and dumplings are easy to share. Everything we had tasted great. Would definitely come back.

This place was tasty fast clean, and the service was great, but It can be a bit of a difficult place if you're only one person eating, because you have to get a full order of dumplings, and then separately need to buy some vegetable or second dish. That means I bought the Korean barbecue beef dumplings and then had to get a full order of Chinese broccoli, and while both were tasty. It ended up being $30. Much better idea to come here if you are at least two or three people, and can split some different orders. I'll definitely come back. Not as good as din tai fung, but they don't have a place in sf. Cute Bernal Heights location.

Came here for the dumplings as I heard it was so delicious and enjoyed every dish but mostly the Mongolian Beef, Garlic Broccoli and the Korean Beef Dumplings as well as the Sesame red bean paste were my top my favorite! Love the portion sizes too I was able to take some home for left overs, I would love to come back here and bring friends! Also the service was great and attentive.

The food was good and service friendly. The Har Gow was delicious 'tho a tad more expensive than what I'm accustomed to from Dim Sum restaurants ('tho the quality and size was better than most). I'd say, look at the menu and prices and you'll know what you're walking into as far as projecting a dining experience bill. I'm more accustomed to a no-frills Chinese (Cantonese) dining experience and I think we paid $60 and weren't full (still hungry) for lunch for 3, so at $20 per person it's on the higher end for us because we still wanted more. I'll say this 'tho, we ate everything and it was all good. So, what I challenge for us and our needs is either the pricing or the portions. The quality is there and good already. However, I know rent is high in San Francisco as are overhead costs and the general cost of living and necessity for restaurants to run at a profit with livable wage margins.

Dumpling are now part of the world stage as many countries have some kind dumpling .I am always in search of a good dumpling. United Dumplings unifies many types of different dumplings. United Dumplings has a strong Northern China influence which reflects in the food they offer at their Bernal Heights location on Cortland Avenue in San Francisco. One of my favorite dumplings is the Shanghai -style Xiao Long Bao dumpling. The pork soup dumpling at United Dumplings was juicy with the broth from inside and soft texture on the outside. The dumplings were in these little cups which resemble miniature candles. Each bite was fluid and savory. They do have good pairing offerings with the dumplings like their fried mushroom tempura. My surprise new favorite noodles are the Sichuan Dan Dan noodles which were soft and it has a tasty spicy pork sauce which was very flavorful. The sauce was not watery but had a thick broth savory sauce. It also had a sprinkle of peanuts which gave it an extra kick. Another pleasant surprise was their Steamed egg custard bao. I do like an egg a little runny. This egg custard bao was soft and in the middle it had a burst of egg yolk. My type of bao. Buy a vowel and get a bao that has a burst of egg yolk Enjoy some great dumplings at United Dumplings when it comes to dumplings they are no joke

Mom Owned Restaurant in the Bay Area! Combining California flavors with Northern China roots, these dumpling will surely impress. They have 3 locations in the Bay Area - 2 in the San Francisco and one just over the bay bridge in Oakland. Their menu consists of dumplings, more dumpling, and noodles and dishes you can pair with dumplings! While we were excited and hoping to try the Jumbo Pork Soup Dumpling that they're known for, we were informed after that it's now only available at their Rockridge location if anyone is wondering! We did however get to try a couple of their other delicious dishes! We were definitely impressed by the quality of the food and you can tell that there is a lot of preparation involved. The dumplings tasted great and we can only imagine how amazing it'd be in its jumbo format! The Sichuan Dan Dan Noodles had a delectable combination of chili and peanut flavors that had us finish every last bit of the plate. The workers were very nice. Parking hard to find depending on time of day, it is sf after all haha but the place is cute and they have kids drawings on the walls. From their website, they also offer freezer and catering options if you want to bring their dumplings to your next friends/family get together as they'll surely be a hit. We definitely enjoyed the dishes we were able to try and they do make excellent dumplings here at United Dumplings! - -- -- - Sautéed Green String Beans Sichuan Dan Dan Noodles Sichuan Dumplings in Red Oil Shrimp Dumplings

Do they have a menu in Chinese?

We have some part of the menu in Chinese like the section names because the size of the menu is so small and I just cannot fit two languages on it. Many of our servers speaks Chinese so don't worry about it!

Are allergy friendly options without cross contamination risk? My daughter is highly allergic to dairy, eggs & peanuts and we want to have a lunch date at United Dumplings

How do I reach the owner? I called to cancel the orders I placed on Tock for Thanksgiving, spoke to 3 people, none of them were able to assist. Please provide email & number to contact to cancel my orders and get refund. Thank you.

Are any of the dumplings made gluten free?

Sorry we don’t have any gluten free dumplings. Our northern Chinese dumplings are famous for the chewy gluten developed during the process of making the dough :O

Is peanut oil used in any of the dishes? Nut allergy here.

That's something I highly recommend emailing the restaurant directly.

What is the best way to cook the frozen dumplings? Steam? You should post instructions on the website.

I have a bamboo steamer, I steam frozen dumplings for about 10 to 11 minutes. Hope it helps!

Has anyone successfully placed an order by phone? I just now ordered in person bc I've never been able to get through in the phone.

I have successfully placed an order for lunch pickup. It took me 3 different attempts. But once they opened up I caught them on a slower day. If they don't pickup it's because they're really busy.

Once you finally get to the front, you order at the kiosk and everything is entirely self-serviced from getting seated to picking up your order. When we finally got our food, we were disappointed by how broken our soba was and how many clumps we found as well. The soba itself was also mediocre and not worth the hype. I got the scallop kakiage and while it was good some pieces were undercooked like my eggplant and that was really hard to eat. The food wasn't terrible, but not great and definitely not worth the wait and hassle. A pass for me :(

I personally prefer a little more privacy while dining, so that took away from the experience. I won't comment on the wait time because that's pretty normal for popular restaurants in San Francisco. I've been to plenty of Japanese/Ramen spots and I've been running into the issue where I say I have a soy allegry and there is an assumption that I have a gluten issue (I do not have a gluten issue). I noticed yelp said they have soy-free options and thus called on Friday thinking it might be a bad idea as they're usually busy.. It was defintely hard for the person to hear a bit when they picked up. The staff did relay something about gluten free noodles.. We go and I asked which 4 of the soups I was eyeballing don't have soy - the staff said they can accomodate and replace any of the soy soups with a salt broth. After we ordered, the staff came back and checked in to make sure that my partner also didn't have an allergy. The two appetizers we ordered had the exact same sauce, which is a little disappointing because I was expecting the mouth watering chicken to have a more refreshing taste rather than the spicy numbing flavor, however, both appetizers had good chongqing flavor! Service 4/5 Standard service. Ambiance 4/5 It is a small restaurant and the overall gives off an old restaurant vibe. Most of the furnitures are outdated but clean. Good for when you're craving chongqing flavored food.

They have packed in as many tables as they could in here. Yet it didn't feel crowded or like we would bump someone if we breathed. The food. That's what it's all about right? This place delivers. Every thing was as good as the last. They have a pretty extensive menu I wanted to try it all. Sadly I had to settle for Hot and Sour Soup, Wonton soup, Pork Xiao Long Bao 8 Pcs, Chicken Xiao Long Bao 8 Pcs, (8Pcs) Pork Dumpling with Sesame Sauce and Red Chili Oil (6Pcs), Numb & spicy pork Bao, Green Onion Pancake, (Sweet) Red Bean Paste Pockets. We had it family style. The 3 of us shared it all. There was plenty to go around. None of us left hungry. I can't even pick a favorite. Maybe the numb and spicy which wasn't that spicy. It was just so good and flavorful. The soup dumplings were amazing. So much perfect flavor. They held together until the bite. So good. The hot and sour soup was plenty tasty. Not the best I've ever had but certainly among the best. The only thing I will say is that one of my companions can't have seaweed. The wonton soup was amazing but full of seaweed. It wasn't listed on the menu and we have never had seaweed in any other wonton soup so didn't know to ask if it could be left out. That was sad. All she could do was have a tiny spoon of the broth to taste it. The green onion pancake was very good. The red bean paste pockets use the same dough but filled with sweet red bean paste. They were a perfect way to end the meal. Next time I'm in the city I will visit again. Loved it all. It was worth taking the time to visit and eat there.

Menu is relatively the same as Dumpling Home featuring my faves like the numb and spicy XLB and the sheng jian bao. Both very delicious! The remainder of the dishes we got were also good. I will say the green beans left me wanting a bit more from it. But overall, my party had a nice, fulfilling meal. Dumpling Home will always be my favorite (still prefer it a TINY bit), but because there is less of a crowd, service was amazing! I definitely wouldn't mind coming back considering there the difference in wait time to Dumpling Home.

If you're not able to squeeze into the first wave, the wait is upwards of 2 hours! FOOD: We ordered one galbi jim with extra noodles and rice cakes and a separate garlic noodles for a party of 5. While we initially thought we could finish two galbi jims, our server cautioned us against it, referencing the healthy portion size. We were glad we took her advice because everyone was stuffed by the end of our meal. Their galbi jim was flavorful, with extremely tender beef and chewy rice cakes. We ordered the lowest level of spiciness and while there was still a kick, it was extremely manageable. SERVICE: We were the first to be seated and our galbi jim took almost 20 minutes to come out while others waited even longer. However, they comped our garlic noodles and apologized for turning waits. Overall, I'd definitely return if I'm able to get into the first wave of seating.

Typically what I saw was they do waves of seating and ordering so if you aren't there right at open/when they fill up, plan to write your name down and grab a drink nearby. Once we got seated, they were pretty prompt to give us utensils, napkins, cups, and water. The two of us shared the Braise Beef Galbi Stew. It's more than enough for 2 people to go home in food comas (with some food remaining) and for 3 to be sufficiently full. If you have big eaters, order an app alongside if you have 3 people. The Galbi stew was exceptional. I liked that they had various levels of spiciness. We went with spicy and it had a nice kick that elevated the dish for me. The beef was very tender and flavorful and the veggies and rice cakes soaked up all the juices. And the cheese was so stretchy! I'd actually rank this place slightly above Daeho given the shorter wait, the quality, and the price. I'll be back for sure.
