UMG did our kitchen counters 2 years ago, and it still looks excellent. They were recommended by the Caesarstone rep I was working with at the time. Shawn was extremely responsive, sent out a guy a second time to drill the correct hole for our RO faucet once they acquired the drill bit (he even scraped off some excess epoxy for us). The installer was a bit rude with our general contractor (who was considering using them for future work), but nevertheless, they were prompt, responsive, and carried out the work exactly as they had explained to me. I was busy, they were busy, so I would email periodically to update them on the construction schedule and check on install date as it approached. Not a big deal, unless you're the type of person who likes other people to follow up/check in on you. read more

Best service. Most thoughtful. Completely professional. We needed to recover any remaining product when we made a design change late in the game for our kitchen. Frank drove me around the yard to find our remnant. Then we realized the seam would be in a completely wrong place on one segment. They took a look at what we needed and updated our job with no problem and gave us a key design recommendation that vastly improved the look of our kitchen. From the start of the project to the end, we were impressed with the service from United Marble & Granite. They were fastidious in keeping the showroom sanitized. The slabs in the back are held under shade cloth to keep from sun damage. Everyone we spoke with was knowledgeable and professional. They were able to talk us through a trade that we knew little about. They helped us make decisions about sinks and backsplashes and more. The gentleman who came out to measure our kitchen for the countertops noticed a problem with our proposed sink, showed us what was wrong, and what to look for when buying one. The installation crew of three gentlemen was polite, thorough, and respectful. UMG even was willing to take a remnant that we had from our bathroom do-it-yourself project and fabricate backsplashes for the bathroom counter. We got connected with United Marble & Granite through Home Depot after a week from paying for a countertop and fireplace project. they booked us two weeks after that for measurements (supposed to take a few days). The technician supposed to measure both fireplace and countertops but they only did countertops and told us our fireplace is not "ready" to be measured!! We were told by the technician that the installation will happen between 2-3 weeks (which actually took 6). We had to schedule another appointment for fireplace measurements which again got delayed and that project pushed out to next year (taking us 12 weeks after the purchase date and 6 weeks after fireplace measurements). This business simply ignored issues and customer concerns. They never take any actions to help us. One of the managers once told me "it is what it is.". The crew who installed the countertops damaged a few spots in the kitchen. They damaged my brand new floors and glue was everywhere in the kitchen. They didn't even care to ask me to take stuff out of cabinets before doing the work. I wouldn't recommend this business to anyone!! read more

We ordered 2 piece of quartz slabs for our kitchen countertop late 2019, but our work went unexpected long. We couldn't install them until late Feb. We worked with Frank and he's very responsive and kind to let us put the slabs in their warehouse for a couple months free of charge. Later our contractor realized that he cannot find factories to cut the slabs, and fortunately Frank let us know that UMG can also cut them. He expedited the measurement and delivery process, we got our countertop installed in two weeks perfectly. I would work with them again in the future. read more

UMG was involved from the demolition of our old tile countertop to installing our new sink and quartz which they fabricated well enough. It took 3 weeks for the entire process to get done. If it wasn't for a 1 week delay on Home Depot's part to get back to us for the final payment, it would have been done sooner. Anyways, 4 men came into our home to install and I like how they had made sure everything is done exactly the way I want it, or the way they think is best. Just had quartz countertops installed by this company. Things started off a little shaky as I believe they lost our work order, so it took a bit longer for us to get our product than I expected. I contracted them through Home Depot. The install crew was unbelievable. I've never seen a crew take such care in a installation. Tarps everywhere to protect the floors, they were extremely cautious around our walls and paint. The installation was fast and precise and when they left the house was as clean as when they got here. read more

United marble & granite were contracted through Home Depot. We were told that they were able to install one complete countertop for our bathroom which was Home Depot's misinformation. When UMG wanted to come out one week earlier than they were scheduled, I informed them I was working. I had other people onsite working on my bathroom so they decided to come out and measure when I wasn't present. I received a call from them when they were in my home and that was when I was informed that the counter would be two separate pieces and there would be a seam. It also would not come with an edge, that would be extra, also something I was not informed of. The person measuring also told me he had to take my sink or the template for the sink, I told him I had an identical sink by the front door with template, but he chose to take my sink. After giving it a little of thought, we decided not go with them as installers. I did not get a good feeling from them after talking to Sean. His solution for hiding a seam in his home was to put a microwave on top of it, I was like we're installing these counters in my bathroom, how does that make any sense??? I didn't get the vibe he was into customer service, just matter of fact but certainly not helpful. Really glad I trusted my gut, because we canceled the install with them and still had to pay a $200 trip charge. I had to initiate contact with them about getting my sink returned and spoke to Ana. She told me to pick up my sink in Santa Clara, what??? They took my property out of my home, but refused to return it. I was told they do not do drop offs. This was the same response from Sean as well, they were both unwilling to do the right thing and return my sink to my home and were close to hostile regarding the situation. The only compromise they were willing to make was to send it with their installers the next time they were in the area and I would have to go to the place they were doing the job to pick it up. I would never wish this type of service upon anyone!!! I am hoping that Home Depot does not use them in the future for installs, I certainly won't be going back to either. Good luck future customers, I really hope you don't have the same poor service and experience as I did! read more

And the team member we were speaking to said we don't need or want to do the job but we have a contract so we are willing to make it work. They scheduled in a timely matter, showed up when they said they would, and the teams were professional polite, mask wearing, and in general not disruptive to my household as they did their work quickly without a fuss or delay. Their admin Kristin was super clear with instructions and responded to my multiple questions in multiple emails with patience and clarity. Once the project was complete, there were two minor issues , I called they came back out , handled both issues and had me double check the final results to make sure I was happy . For my kitchen and two bathroom remodel, I had decided on Cambria Quartz (Praa Sands in bathrooms and Windermere in kitchen). Before I visited UMG for my kitchen and two bath countertop remodel, I visited and got quotes from Plamar (Home Depot/ Lowes), All architectural Stone, Monarch Surface Stone Solutions, Duracite (Costco), The Countertop Store, and Marble City Company. UMG actually does the stone cutting for Monarch Surface and Superior Stone. UMG's quote was one of the best, but after getting a referral from my Yelp buddy Derek, started working with Laurenz Valera on the quote, process, etc. Laurenz is very good on email response, not so good via phone, always busy. Nelson came out to take the template and was very friendly. Shawn was involved with the layout which was actually kind of fun, whereby you decide by laying out the template what stone piece you actually want them to cut. Then Fabien and team did the install. The length of time from template to install was 8 working days (not counting weekends), which is kind of long, but we had a temporary sink so managed. My Cambria quartz when we went to place the order, had sold out as the colors were so popular that a second production line had to be brought up, but this would have pushed my install out 4-6 weeks. After discussing this with Cambria on their facebook page, they expedited the 3 slabs to UMG and I was back on schedule, only moving out by a few days. Goes to the show the power of voice, facebook and Cambria truly cares about its customers. If you contact Cambria nicely, you can arrange a visit to their Hayward distribution center, whereby I viewed the full size slabs. I went with a seamless quartz install all around and UMG accomodated as I had my cabinet maker (CMT Woodcraft) build it to 54" and the slabs come in 56"-57" so they could do so. Fabien and team did a very nice install, the double bevel edge is perfect, you can't tell where the join is, even with the veining and movement. The cutout the holes for the faucets, soap dispenser, air gap and cleaned up afterwards. I still had to go cut out the plywood from underneath using a hole saw so the brackets on the underside of the cabinet could screw thread onto the faucets, and soap dispenser. Overall, I give 5 stars to UMG, their pricing is competitive. They have a small showroom whereby you can view the 12" x 12" quartz tiles. Their staff are very helpful and know what they are doing. I highly recommend UMG and will tell all my friends, co-workers and relatives about their great work. Almost a 1 star but giving a 3 because owners stepped in and the install was done perfectly. The issue I had was with the installation manager, a unsavory, disrespectful indignant human being. First the scheduling methods they use is very loose. I was given a date and got a text 2 days after the actual delivery date saying the install would be done at the end of the week, a total of 4 days late after 2 weeks of waiting for the stone to be cut. When I called to asked about the the overall process and what the guys will be doing.. the installation manager "Larry" began yelling at me, telling me I should have reviewed the worksheet he left for me when he took the original measurements. He asked if I owned the house, and even said that if I didnt like what he was saying for me to call IKEA and tell them I didnt like UMG services. He was was the worse ever! If I had not prepaid for countertops and on a tight timeline, i would of canceled on the spot. He then goes on to tell, me that he talks to hundreds of people a day and they never ask questions, and he didnt have time to educate me. Ridiculous!!! To make a long story short, I called and spoke to the owners, they heard me, apologized for the install managers behavior/comments, and walked me through the install process and prompted me with questions such as the dishwasher Gap hole. Very helpful. Next day, the installers came through and performed a perfect install with no issues. We get complements all the time. When I get my next home kitchen updated, I will most likely go with another company. read more

Your kitchen is the heart beat of your house and we were treated to top notch service from this company. Yes, they are extremely busy, but for good reason. I overheard they re-did they kitchen at French laundry... yeah, that one. I have seen many kitchens - friends, family, acquaintances, etc. United Marble & Granite puts the cherry on top. Although they aren't designers, you can have your designers work with them to achieve the perfect look. In response to umg: 1. Trip charge. I was told by umg that the charge is because your employees need to get paid for their time. Which is understandable. But don't mislead customers by saying it's imposed by ikea. Also, the issue that we had was not listed under ikeas guidelines which made it more frustrating. 2. Ikea sales. I did not start this process during a sale time. I can only image how painful that would make it. So good luck to anyone who does. Still would not go through this process again. read more

We went through Ikea and purchased our entire kitchen, cabinets and counter tops. We scheduled our templating and waited at the job site for the entire window we were given. The templater arrived 2 HOURS after the time window was over. He did not introduce himself or apologize for being 2 hours late. OK *whew!* we thought, that ugliness is over, now we can look forward to our counter tops being installed in 7-10 days. 10 days rolls around and the installation is scheduled. The workers arrive on time to install the counters. There's a problem, we're told, with the largest piece of quartz in the kitchen. A hole! About the size of a silver dollar where the templater did not place wood properly. What are my options? I ask the workers. Blank stares. I ask again, what can we do about this? Call my boss..one of them grumbles. I call their 'boss' who says the options are to fill the space but it will show and look slightly different, or a whole new piece fabricated and installed in one week. Long story short we went with a whole new piece (I'm not paying a ton of money for a patchwork counter top! ). Final installation day they arrive and installation seems to be going pretty well (heart be still). I am called up to sign off on the completion and notice a significant chip in the backsplash, that look like it's been filled with elmers glue. Also, a cabinet that they removed had been reinstalled poorly with visible screws. Again I ask...what are my options? Blank stares all around. I call 'the boss' again and had an extremely unsympathetic (if not insulting) conversation that resulted in me having to end the call after being told that the reason the workers did not communicate with me is because 'I scared them.' Awesome. We will be using a different company for our many other upcoming kitchen remodels (we are apartment managers). If you value quality craftsmanship and any semblance of customer service take your business elsewhere! What a nightmare... read more

United Marble and Granite inc. located in Santa Clara CA contracted by Home Depot in Watsonville has the most incapable people doing their removal and installation of new quartz countertops. I have a very small kitchen. Super easy removal of old countertops. The workmen managed to bang into a walls creating gouges and into my car (no damage) as well as dent and scrape my new stainless steel sink and faucet. The installers were worse! The hole cut for the sink was not accurate so took a lot if extra effort to reinstall it. The backsplashs were cut short by 1/8" +. Instead of cutting the cabinet trim to allow a flat and continuous counter piece the counter was cut out then filled in with putty. I have had several kitchens and bathrooms remodeled and have Never dealt with such Awful and Incompetent workmanship. read more
