Quoted me a price for an alignment. When I had them Align the car I asked them to enter a different car. They on check out they doubled the price because it was "Custom". To type in a different car? Seriously. My Wife took our SUV for an inspection. They failed it saying the motor mounts were cracked. I personally replaced them and they were NOT cracked. It was a mold line in the rubber. Sean Jessie isn't even good enough to be called a shade tree mechanic. Paid him $250 on July 2 to install a strut & spacer on passenger side of my pickup and do an alignment. He gives it back and 1/2 mile later it's slinging grease out of the cv joint boot "he busted" and they'd already closed up and gone for the day. So 5 days later they open up on the Monday after the holiday and I've done replaced the axel myself. I explain what had happened when I got home and aftee he admits they pinched the boot he proceeds to try explain everything away. And how i was just impatient for not waiting the 5 days on him to return to work and that it would've been fine to drive with grease flying everywhere. Apparently he thinks since you brought it to him you must have never turned a wrench. So then he tells me "I'll call you Wednesday because I'm all about making it right". For the benefit of the customers he had in the lobby.Guess what? No call on Wednesday. Lmao so I go back in. This time his little flunky up front says " oh he's out and wont be back till probably tomorrow" smh. Just take this warning. If you don't have a pocket full of cash to let him take. Store owner chewed me out for asking a free employee for help which the owner considered interrupting a conversation he was having with a gentleman in line. I paid $100 for a uhaul rental and got chewed out for returning the key. All the associates are awesome - nothing but honest work and help from them. The owner, Sean, is a jerk. I just asked if I needed to sign anything when I was dropping off a uhaul key. All that was necessary was "No sir you are good to leave" but instead the owner took it upon himself to lecture me about manners when in reality he was the rude one as I just spent good money there. Will not recommend - go to the WalMart auto center next door - or really any other establishment. read more

I took my car there for inspection and they got the keys stuck in the ignition. After they got the keys out I figured out what they did. They broke the ignition. The car will now die while I am driving. It is also very hard to start. It takes at least 4 tries to start it. I will never return. read more

I took my car here last week for an oil change and tire rotation, they were pricey, took forever to get to my car, and had a pretty sorry attitude the whole time. What they didn't know is that I am an experienced mechanic at school and do not have any tools, so I was forced to go somewhere local. They tried to charge me for many extra things that I told them I did not want them to do. They tried telling me I NEEDED a lot of repairs (tie rods, stabilizers, bearings, etc..) Once they realized I was not some stupid college kid they quickly tried to backtrack their malicious attempt at taking my money. I hate to leave a review like this, but this is just pure business dishonesty and lack of integrity. Do better, and stop trying to STEAL money from college students. read more

IF YOU ARE A COLLEGE STUDENT STAY AWAY. This shop must think all college kids are all naive and will just let them do whatever they want. I took my truck there for an inspection (on the very last day possible) and they quoted me 800 dollars to fix parts on my truck I just had replaced. I believe they saw a chance to exploit my desperation of time, and tried their best. I took my truck back home that night and let an honest competent mechanic look it over, and I only needed windshield wipers, quite a bit cheaper than 800 dollars. Also, one of the parts this second rate establishment wanted to replace, I questioned him on it being missing, and he backtracked when he realized I knew it was there. I cannot stress how much I felt they were trying to take advantage of me, I would recommend anyone from Radford University go anywhere else in search of an honest garage. read more

Had a really bad experience with United Muffler. I would not recommend this business for anything more than routine service such as oil change, new tires or very basic muffler repair. My vehicle had a small exhaust leak so I assumed this place would have lots of experience and provide a quality repair. The first time I left my vehicle for repair the work was not complete for two days longer than the initial estimate. The cost was also $230 more than the estimate which I understood based on problems encountered during the repair. After that is when things started going downhill. The repair lasted for two weeks. Over the next few months I took my vehicle back for the same issue FOUR times. They never fixed the problem. I finally gave up and took it to another mechanic who took a quick look at it and told me exactly what was wrong. The second mechanic could not understand why United Muffler tried to complete the repair the way they did as there was no way it would last. During the five times I had to leave my vehicle at United Muffler I had to rent a vehicle which cost an additional several hundred dollars. After I had the second mechanic fix the issue I went back to United Muffler and explained exactly what was done to fix my vehicle and gave them a copy of the receipt from the second mechanic. I asked if they would consider at least a partial refund of what they charged me since the second mechanic not only fixed the underlying issue but also fixed the additional problems caused by United Muffler. I followed up a couple times on my request but have gotten no response. Needless to say, I will not be using United Muffler for any service or repairs in the future. read more

NEVER TAKE YOUR CAR/TRUCK HERE!!!!! They WILL rip you off!! If youre already there ; RUN far far away. Normally I do not write reviews but the experience I had here was so horrendous that I find it necessary to warn anyone even thinking of going here to never go here! As a VT student, I went to UM Radford to get a downpipe made for my car in hopes of getting a good quality downpipe for the same price or slighty cheaper than the name brand ones offline. Needless to say it was an absolute nightmare, and on top of that I also witnessed them rip off two other customers including a poor old lady who clearly didnt know anything about cars (because they managed to convince her she needed new wheel bearings for her vibrating tires on her newer car). I practically had to hold back tears it was so horrific to watch. What I was supposed to get: -3" downpipe (I called before coming and they stated they had 3", however upon arriving they were out of 3" so I agreed to 3.5" -Mandrel bends -Stainless Steel - Flex joint (to allow for engine flex and heat expansion) -They stated they could do it for 35$ less than the cost of name brands Keeping in mind I can get a polished, full one piece with all mandrel bends and flex joint, stainless steel name brand pipe for $120 What I got: -A 4 hour wait (even though I had an appointment) -A choppy 3 to 4 section eyesore of pipe with sharp pointed bends (only 2/5 mandrel bends) -No flex joint(because they were also out of that) -Stainless steel pipe but welded together with sloppy mig welded joints using non-stainless welds (thus the welds started rusting after 2 days making rusty water drip out of the tailpipes) - A whopping $170 pricetag (took 36 mins to make, charged for a full hour labor) -The exhaust put pressure on my header and cut my ground clearance in half because they made it dip down for some odd reason. -Horribly raspy (10X worse than any of the catless downpipes Ive had before) -Pipe rattled loudly against the bottom of the car due to poor routing. -Bolted joint fell apart in 2 days. So long story short I was told they had parts in stock when they didnt when I called, I waited for 4 hours even though I supposedly had an appointment, I got an ugly choppy absolute useless piece of junk and was told to pay twice what it should of been worth. Luckily they didnt tell me that I needed a whole bunch of unnecessary stuff like they were doing to everyone else I watched come and go. Lesson learned.... read more

I took my car to get inspected there this week. I called 4 hours in advance to ask if they could give my car a look and informed them that I also needed to have the front driver's side tire replaced with an existing tire that I had and was told it "would not be a problem". I show up to my 4pm appointment and repeat to the guys up front that I needed an inspection and my tire changed/patched. I arrived at 3:50 and proceeded to wait over an hour for them get to my car. It is now after 5pm. So they proceeded to pull my car into the shop and tinker with the tire and raise my car high into the air to "inspect it". Then after 20 minutes, they call me up front and tell me that they have not only neglected to fix my tire as requested but they did not complete the inspection due to the "car needing a lot of work." When I asked what was wrong, they gave me a vague explanation that "ball joint needed possible replacement" and to come back another day. Then they handed me a business card and dismissed me leaving me with no new inspection and no fixed tire. I felt completely disrespected as they wasted my time and did none of work that I requested in advance. I will not be returning or recommending this place ever to anyone. read more

United Muffler came to our aid when we were stranded with a flat tire. What luck to have stumbled on to this shop! Call Sean and he will do all he can to help you. Too bad he doesn't own more shops along the way. This guy is honest and worked on getting new tires for us by the next morning to get us back on the road.
