there's a reason why this place has a perfect 5 star rating. the owner is a modest, soft-spoken Korean woman, who doesn't say much, but she does so with a smile. she probably doesn't even know what yelp is. I found this place through the reviews below so decided to give it a try. I had a verrry big challenge for her. it was a designer polyester/suade jacket I wore on new years eve, which, well, resembled more of a hospital bed sheet after I took it on in a drunken stupor. I was so ashamed of taking this in anywhere, I was thinking of taking a big loss. nonetheless, I brought it in (my own girlfriend didn't want to touch it), and without comment or judgment, at least out loud =p, she told me it was going to be difficult, and would take a lot of time. she quoted me $10 and estimated 4 days. I figured if she could save it, I'd pay anything. I came back, ready to pay her regardless of the result, and instead, was astounded. it looked BRAND NEW. then she only charged me $6.25. I tried to make her take the full $10 but she refused. she just smiled and thanked me. she has my business for good. read more

Based on the positive reviews, I chose Universal Cleaners to get my wedding gown cleaned. I didn't mind the 45 minute drive because I was confident that they were going to get the job done well. A month later I went to pick up my dress, only to find a big dirt stain and loose thread across the chest area. In addition, they misplaced my wooden hanger, which they later found on another dress. When I brought it to the owner's attention he told me to come back 2 days later. He wasn't apologetic at all! I expressed that I don't live nearby and that this was a big inconvenience for me; a week before my wedding. I don't have time for a long drive back to the cleaners. We asked if he can compensate us for the inconvenience. Of course he refused. Two days later I go to pick up my dress and he was SO RUDE! He didn't greet me. Universal did an outstanding job cleaning my wedding dress, which was held in a redwood forest! The dress was filthy after an amazing night dancing in the woods!! :) I thought the dress was likely not cleanable, but wanted to give it a try because I loved the dress (and I'd heard about Universal)! I brought my wedding dress here 4 months after my big date. The dress was quite dirty especially under the hem. I planned to sell it so it has to be squeaky clean. I found this place from Yelp with a very competitive rate($90 dollars) and decided to give it a try. The waiting time is 1 month but I am in no hurry. 4 weeks later it is ready, like brand new. Really lovely people who run the place and great results every time. My dry cleaning style is dropping approx 30 things off at once a few times a year and they always handle everything beautifully. I've had minor tailoring and repairs done here with good results and Ms. Choe, the owner, is very thorough with spot checks and goes through each piece of clothing with me when I drop off. I had an outdoor wedding and a kick ass reception and afterparty. Subsequentely, my wedding dress was trashed. I mean, black on the bottom. I wore that dress into the ground. After picking up my dress from these guys, I am now looking at a bright white dress that now looks as good as the day I bought it. And only 80 dollars (super cheap to clean a dress). I bought my wedding dress a year ago and wanted to get it steamed before my wedding, because it had been in a box for quite some time. I had but one request: absolutely do not take the plastic off of the floral appliques on the front of the dress, if they get wet the color will run off of them onto the rest of the dress. My dress took a day longer then they originally said for some reason, and then when I went to pick it up, I opened the bag not only to find the plastic off the flowers, but one of the flowers had ripped off and was sitting in the folds of my dress, rubbing black dye all over it. I am getting married a week from tomorrow, and went from having a dress that was just slightly wrinkled, to a dress I now have to clean and sew back together. I realize there is a MASSIVE language barrier, but I though that the loads of saran wrap around the flowers was a pretty clear sign. read more

took 6 garments for dry cleaning here. first of all, the boards with all the prices listed is left un-readable for the average person. i couldn't make out the prices of the things I was dropping off then ending up spending way more than what I wanted based on that. on top of that, my blazers are not pressed well at all and half the zipper off one of my pants (???) is missing, leading to my zipper being ridiculously hard to pull up and then prone to falling by itself. will not be coming back. read more

This is the only place I've been in LA for tailoring or dry cleaning in the nearly 6 years that I've lived here. I have always been very pleased with the quality of their work, the prices are unbeatable, and the couple who run the place are so kind. It's about $7 to get a pair of pants hemmed, and being 5'1" every pair of pants I buy need to be hemmed. I've had a number of more extensive alterations done here, too, and I trust them completely. They are also remarkable at getting stains out. I got a fancy silk dress caught in an escalator gear once, and it was covered in black grease marks from the mechanism. I figured it was ruined but brought it in just in case, but they removed the stain completely. Also, they remember your name! A+ service. read more

My wedding dress was so dirty. The bottom- a long hand-beaded lace train- was absolutely filthy after dragging in the ground...and then hanging off my closet door for a year! So, I was understandably worried about whether my dress would ever be clean. Then I read the reviews of this place and thought that if anyone could do it, they could. And they did!!!! For the SUPER affordable price of $75, they got the dress completely pristine. No trace whatsoever of any dirt on the train. It looked brand new! I gave them a box with acid free paper (purchased for $50 from the Container Store) and they stuffed the dress with the paper and laid it perfectly in the box, and then put my pressed veil on top of it. I am SO happy. I recommend them completely for wedding dress cleaning. I still can't believe how clean the dress is!!! read more

Location is definitely a plus. It's been quite easy to get in and out with minimal traffic. Always plenty of free street parking or in front. Price was slightly less than others but still pretty pricey just for slacks which took 3-4 days. Very sweet lady though! read more

I know, I know...this place has good reviews and there's no doubt that they have done a good job for other people, however, they screwed up on me. Two shirts ruined. One shirt had tiny dents on it while the other shirt had the color of its buttons come off. I've taken these shirts elsewhere before to get dry cleaned and this had never happened before. The lady who works in the front might just be the nicest, most modest person in her zip code. She's incredibly sweet and when I got my jackets back I realized that she had not only pressed them into something pristine, but holy crap she had pinned the sashes and ties to keep THEM neat and pristine as well. Love them. They're cheap, do a great job, have long hours during the week and on the weekends, are very friendly, and have a great location to easily pull in from Beverly.
