I called this company based on the excellent yelp reviews and also a friend's extatic recommedations regarding their A+ service, expertise, honesty, etc. Jessie took time out of his busy scedule to advise me about a car I was thinking about purchasing. He outlined best/worst case scenarios and what he could and possibly could not do to help me with a potential lemon. Despite the fact that I hadn't paid him a dime, he gave me invaluable, unbiased advice. Other shops my husband had called previously were not interested in giving us the time of day, rather, just tried to sell us on their service. I had merely stopped by to ask him if he thought a scratch in my new Honda would come out and get a recommendation for a good detail place. Pulling out of a parking space, a guy stops me, there's a plastic thing dragging on the ground at the front of my car. Being Sunday, I Yelped to see was auto stations were open. Saw I had an hour to get to this place, a mile from where I live and all the good reviews, so I headed out. The guy there, Diego, was awesome, put it right on the jack lift, found some plugs to put it back in and I was back on the road. Very nice, so was the lady working there as well. Just happened to stop by to put water in my radiator because it was leaking last week...then the owner Jesse came out put the water for free and was very informative about what the problem could be even though i just wanted some water lol. So then I left and that was that. Then this week I was looking to replace my fuel filter so i hit up yelp to find a good place to do it. Then Universal Service Station popped up with good reviews and was close but really i went back because of the great customer service i had received from the week before. So off I went they not only replaced the fuel filter for a great price but identified the leak and fixed that to without trying to rip me off for parts. The mechanic Mario also let me know a few other things I should fix to, Its like i got a free inspection thrown in. Will definitely be back. Jesse also personally gave me a ride home and picked me up when my car was ready. Awesome prices and great customer service. There's absolutely no way I could write a review for Universal Service Station and not give 5 stars. This shop deserves all the hype it can get. Jesse, the owner, is extremely helpful and nice, and a HUGE help. I didn't even have a Yelp account and felt I needed to sign up just so everyone can know that this is the shop to go to in L.A. Very knowledgable, the staff is friendly, and they won't swindle you. After taking my vehicle to them, it runs great and everything is as good as new. They explain everything you need to know and use the BEST solution for your car to keep it running smoothly. I usually put off car service because I hate that anxiety that comes with not knowing much about cars and always suspecting you're being taken advantage of. I am so grateful that I was able to read all these positive reviews and discover such a great place. Still, I was nervous, but Jesse was super nice. If there's one incredibly important business relationship to have, it's that of an auto repair shop. Sometimes you find one that's cheap but unreliable with shoddy work. Other times you encounter a shop that get's the job done, but, you end up paying through the nose. Universal was the best of both worlds--Great work at very reasonable prices. I've brought in my '99 VW Jetta on two occasions and each time, Jesse (service manager), greeted me with a warm smile and a professional demeanor that's just A+. I won't bore you with the details of what was wrong with my car, but, Jesse & co did the job perfectly (second time was unrelated issue) and let me know of all my options throughout, in order to keep my car running great. That's just it--no pressure, excellent customer service, amazing work. I went to Universal Service station after reading all the rave reviews and I have to say that I am so glad I took the advice of everyone here on yelp. Jesse was so helpful, caring, sympathetic, honest and informative. I went initially thinking I just needed an alternator. Russ took the time to test out the battery to make sure I even needed an alternator ( believe me, other shops would just jump to telling you that you need it, just to make a fast buck )... it unfortunately turned out that it needed major transmission work. The cost of repair would have been more than the car was worth. Jesse advised me not to fix it because it's too costly and he didn't even charge me for the diagnosis ( which I am positive everyone else would have at least charged me $50 ). When I purchase my next vehicle, I will gladly pay him to conduct the pre purchase inspection and I am recommending him to all of my friends and family. He is the most honest person I have ever dealt with and I know his business will flourish because of his business ethics and sympathetic attitude.
