USD installed the solar on our roof a few years back. First we had a problem with the birds but after some fussing from the company they installed a net around the panels and they resolved the issue. To this day everything was good and I even recommended them to friends. A few months ago the inverter went bad. Communication to this point has been extremely disappointing for USD and very slow from their third party partners who are supposed to replace it. 3 months! In the mean time our electric bill has been double because from what Nevada Power is saying the solar system is triggering something around midnight. I emailed them with the bills from this year and from the same months last year and the months before the issue so they can see and compare the difference. We were gone internationally in June so emailed them the tickets as a proof but as well. After a few emails without any response from them I called today and finally got transferred to Jeff who pretends to look at the policy and says you have self monitoring on your policy and we cannot help you with the NP bill. What can I exactly do by self monitoring when it takes 3 months for you to fix it?? It's the middle of the summer! Not sure how other solar companies are but these guys don't stand behind their service. Extremely slow and won't respond to emails. So if you thinking about finding installer do some research. And I did read the bundle of papers they gave me when we signed the contract. Nothing mentioned about self monitoring

This is the only negative review I've ever publicly posted because as a business owner myself I know how important public feedback is and how too often you only hear about the "sour grapes". But if I can help somebody else from experiencing what we have I felt it necessary to make this post. We had a few different meetings with a sales rep as I've always been pretty skeptical about solar. If it's so great why do you have to try so hard to sell it? The 26% tax credit lowers after this year and they told me we could bundle a new windows package into the tax credit so we eventually decided to do it. $40,000 package for solar, windows and new pool pump. It's been 2 months since they cashed our first check and we still have no functioning solar, no timetable to when it may happen, and have no word on when our windows may show up. I was told 4 weeks from signing solar would be operational and 6 weeks from signing windows would be installed. Those timelines have both been blown by with no signs of anything coming. Solar panels were supposed to come with pigeon guards. As soon as the solar is installed I have been infested with pigeons. They claim a guy came by to check on it and verified everything is good and installed correctly with the pigeon guards. If that's true why am I finding pieces of pigeon guard all over my yard? I had to have a pest company come in to look. They said what was installed wasn't done correctly. Was quoted by the pigeon control company it would be $1,250 to make the solar panels actually pigeon proof. Ironically, this is a company universal supposedly contracts with. So be prepared for that additional purchase if you're considering a solar purchase. That certainly wasn't in my brochure. After they put up the still non functioning solar panels a month ago, I can see a bunch of roof tiles are no longer in place on my roof. They stuck them somewhere else on the roof just leaving a hole underneath. I was told someone would come by to fix it. That of course has never happened. When they came to install the new power inverter or whatever it is, my power ended up being off for over 12 hours when i was told it would be 3-4. So many things in our refrigerator and freezer were compromised. Nobody in the office was able to tell me what the hold up was but it turns out whatever they installed failed inspection by the city of Henderson. They purposely withheld that from me and I'm so upset about that dishonesty. I just kept being told "we don't know what's taking the city so long" put they just didn't want to admit their mistake. I'm also nervous it won't function properly IF it is ever activated. Hopefully the second inspection which passed means I'm overthinking it. We'll see... We were told all the initial solar install work could be completed in one day. We made the appropriate plans to take our dogs to daycare that day so they wouldn't be freaking out during the work. Then the day before they were to do the work they tell us they can't do it all in one day and will need to be two days in a row so we have to spend another $58 boarding the dogs an extra day than anticipated. This by itself is not the end of the world but another one of our many frustrations. I've been trying all week to get someone at this company to answer my concerns but it hasn't happened. I did get one phone call I wasn't able to take and I called to leave messages with two different people but 4 days later still nothing. I have so many questions! Will the solar ever be activated? Why didn't you install the pigeon guard correctly? Why is my roof broken from your techs? When will the windows show up? Why did the timelines all take double what I was told? Will I actually receive a tax credit when that time comes? (I'm now very skeptical. That will be the icing on the cake not getting that 26% back in February when it was the deciding factor for moving ahead with the project) But, most importantly... what legal avenues do I have available to pursue to void what I signed? The only reason I have it as 2 stars and not one is our sales rep does seem like a decent guy who at least appears to be trying to help but he's not on the sales side so can't do much at this point. Maybe he's blowing smoke at us too but I'll give him the benefit of the doubt for now. I've included pictures of what I can visualize for my review. I just hope these help you avoid making the mistake we did. My wife and I were so excited about this but as of this writing I can say this is the biggest regret I've made in my adult life. If only they spent more money on customer service and less on the commercials maybe a better resolution would have been possible.

Numerous zipties left by my AC unit. Photo does not do justice on how they clean up after themselves.

This is very expensive is it worth the cost and how long before reaping the benefits?

You accumulate credit during the cooler months that apply to your bills in the warmer months. I hit the minimum of approx. $13-$15 per month from NV Energy for ten months out of the year and I am not frugal. I did get a $130 bill in August last year… Read more

Sales Manager, John T was very helpful and answered all our questions for the upcoming project. Jaclyn, Timm and Keaton and staff were also very attentive to our needs. All in all, everything ran smoothly and we were very satisfied working with Sol-Up!

We spent close to 50k on solar panels. Our inverter went out late August. They sent out a tech to try to fix it several times. The fix would last a few days then fail. We were finally approved for a new inverter. We had to wait for the warranty to be approved then the unit to be delivered then for it to be installed. We lost the ability to generate energy on and off until last week. (Aug-Nov) When I asked to be compensated for the loss of the ability to generate power due to faulty equipment I was told that the company would look into it and ask management. I was contacted today that $69.00 is all that was approved. So from late August to the end of November we were not generating power from the panels consistently. We were patient waiting for a fix and to be told $69 is disappointing today the least. Please be careful when considering to do business with this company. I understand needing to take time to fix an issue but not to help the customer with the loss of solar for over three months isn't how you take care of customers. I wouldn't recommend them.

They said altogether it would cost around $20,000 and that we would have zero payments for the first 2 years interest-free. So he got my sister to go with them for solar as well. We got our solar panels installed first, before my sister, but my sisters system was up and running weeks before ours. What was the issue, you may ask, I don't even know. Now for the real problems. (Full disclosure: My dad didn't read the contract before signing, so we take some responsibility for what followed, but they still lied to us.) They said it would cost around $20,000. I got a notification a few months after getting the solar up and running that I had a loan for about $53,000! I looked into it and it was for the solar! We contacted them and they said the system cost $53,000 but that with the solar tax credit we would get 30% back when filing for out taxes. They said word for word that we would get a check for $15,000 when filing and claiming the tax credit. But $53,000 minus $15,000 is $38,000 which is $18,000 more than they said it would be. When asked about it, they said they upgraded the system, which is why it was more expensive, but they never discussed an upgrade with my dad. Cut forward to me and my sister trying to file our taxes and surprise surprise, I don't get the $15,000 for the solar because it is a credit, not a refund and nor does she. You can only be credited for the taxes you paid but can't get reimbursed for any more than that. We call them up and they say they will try and help us figure it out. Rhe guy that told me I would get a check then changes his story and says that sometimes if you don't owe enough taxes it will carryover for the next year, but that is noylt what he told me originally. They then proceed to give us the run around and then say it's illegal for them to give tax advice. He then says he isn't an accountant but other customers he's had that had multiple people living on the property have been added to the contract so they can claim the credit too. (This sounds illegal because if only one parent can claim a child then why can multiple claim a solar tax credit but whatever.) At this point my sister calls him out for not knowing what he is doing, to which I proceed to say he does know what he's doing which is scamming and lying to people to get money. Also they originally pitched 2 years no payments but 1 year after installation I got a statement saying payments would be starting. When I called them to ask, he said that originally it was 2 years, but because of the upgrade(that we weren't aware of) it changed back to 1. WHAT? How does that make sense and why didn't they tell us beforehand? Long story short, DO NOT GO WITH THESE PEOPLE! They are liars. They change their stories and give you the run around.

My 7.54kW system used 29 - 260W LG panels split into 2 arrays and utilized both M215 and M250 Enphase microinverters. The reason I wanted to try 2 different microinverters was to compare the performance. In the end, it really didn't matter much. Bottom line, shading and weather were the dominate factors in power generation and all the crazy details I looked at were in the noise. It was still fun at the time. So 6+ years after having this system installed on my roof, I have had ZERO problems (kudos to LA Solar Group and the quality of the hardware). My system has produced over 72 MegaWatt-Hours of power and each and every solar panel and microinverter has reported data (input voltage/current, output voltgae/frequency, and power) from day one over that period of time. This telemetry allows me to see exactly what's going on in my system and if any one of the 29 panel/microinverters acts up, I will know. My system has already paid for itself based on my calculations, so I am a very happy customer. In addition, when I have questions for the LA Solar team, I still get answers. Highly recommended. With the cost of solar dropping in price over the years, it's really a no-brainer.

The 6.8 KW (peak) solar system that these folks installed for me really rocks! So if you are…read moreplanning to install a solar system, look no further and hire this company. I say this because I did my homework right and had obtained over six estimates, and this company beat all the other five not only on price and quality, but also on other (rather important) things as you can see below. 1. Price: This company beat all the others by nearly 20%, and all the other five estimates came very close to one another to the point where I was suspecting that there is some sort of illegal "price fixing" that is rampant industry-wide, but not for this company since it came far away (and below) all the others. 2. Equipment Quality: The system they installed was the most advanced compared to all the other bids. It used higher-end Panasonic panels, and Enphase micro-inverters and combiner. Others bid for lesser-quality no-name panels with one string inverter and a set of optimizers. After much research, I think a micro-inverter based system is superior to the string-inverter based system (so don't listen to the confusing information you find on the web, which portrays the two types of systems as being "equivalent"). So with a total of just 20 panels, my projected annual solar energy production should be about one and a half times my consumption. This should bring down my PG&E bill to the minimum $10/month, and should be able to provide all the electric energy needed for an extra electric car I may purchase in the future. 3. System design: This company had the most precise and realistic design, and that is very important because some of the bids I received were not realistic as they sketched more panels on my South-facing side of the roof than that side could possibly fit. This inflates the projected energy production, but is NOT realistic. In my case, the optimal design was to use the Southern-facing and Eastern-facing sides of the roof and to arrange the panels 50/50 on both sides. This company nailed the design right, but other bids like I said was either plain wrong, or were not realistic. With this design I was able to get a peak production of 6.2 KW, which is close to the theoretical 6.8 KW peak (the difference being mostly due to the orientation of my house). 4. Consumption and Net Monitoring: Most contractors let you monitor ONLY the energy production of your solar system, but this company gave me the ability to monitor the CONSUMPTION of energy by my house and the net energy exchanged between me and utility company on an instantaneous basis (actually every 15 minutes) and on the same Enlighten App as shown in the picture. This is really useful if you would like to do any energy planning in your house to see who/what is really consuming electricity. Granted that you can see the consumption on your utility website, but that data is one or two days delayed and does not show up in the same view as the production, and these two problems make the data from the utility company useless for that purpose. 5. Other: All the folks of the company I have dealt with are ethical in their dealing and are reasonable. The company installed the system in two days, which is very quick. Getting the consumption monitoring to work correctly took a while longer though.
