Allow me to list the concerns: *Several monthly Nevada Energy bills between $70-77. This is not a cost-savings. *Ongoing issues with USD's inverters. READ THE REVIEWS on Yelp. *The cost to have a technician to come out to the home to inspect the inverter is $249. Why? The problem is with the faulty inverters for which customers are sharing negative reviews. *Universal Solar Direct does not monitor when the inverters go offline...the customer is responsible according to Nick, in USD Support. A review of the contract will be conducted to ensure such language is written. *The inverter has been recorded by USD to have been offline at least two months are a time, on several occasions. Does this SCREAM, a concern exists? *Service 24/7. Not so. I sent an email early Saturday morning; received a call Monday around 10 AM. *Email communications were supposedly sent to notify the customer that the system inverter was/is offline. I agree with some of the comments.Hard to reach and won't answer/return calls. Solar is not working and was told that it needs to be replaced due to internal errors. We were told 7 days but it's been more than two weeks from the date of this writing and no call from them and they don't answer calls as well.Now we have a bill from NV energy (solar is not working for a month now) plus a monthly installment payment for the solar. Still having issues! Won't answer the phone! Micro-inverters were shipped to my house can't schedule! Three panels down and not creating energy because this! Last summer it was 13 panels, like come on you are paid ridiculous amounts of money for the crappy work you do! Pigeon guards were never replaced now I have a pigeon problem! USD installed the solar on our roof a few years back. First we had a problem with the birds but after some fussing from the company they installed a net around the panels and they resolved the issue. To this day everything was good and I even recommended them to friends. A few months ago the inverter went bad. Communication to this point has been extremely disappointing for USD and very slow from their third party partners who are supposed to replace it. 3 months! In the mean time our electric bill has been double because from what Nevada Power is saying the solar system is triggering something around midnight. I emailed them with the bills from this year and from the same months last year and the months before the issue so they can see and compare the difference. We were gone internationally in June so emailed them the tickets as a proof but as well. After a few emails without any response from them I called today and finally got transferred to Jeff who pretends to look at the policy and says you have self monitoring on your policy and we cannot help you with the NP bill. What can I exactly do by self monitoring when it takes 3 months for you to fix it?? It's the middle of the summer! Not sure how other solar companies are but these guys don't stand behind their service. Extremely slow and won't respond to emails. So if you thinking about finding installer do some research. Universal Solar in Puerto Rico purchased several months ago a solar water heater and it already has a leak. Not happy with product quality and not happy with the customer service. Plus after a few months of purchase it no longer has a warranty; extremely frustrated in paying so much money for only a few months. My wife and I have tried multiple times to coordinate a technician with their customer service and I still have a leak as no Technician has come the schedule day coordinated with customer service. I have taken multiple days of work and the problem has not been resolved. It has been one excuse after another and Universal Solar PR has not resolved my leak. I consider them to be the worst in customer service and product quality. My neighbors have explained they had the same concerns...They purchased a Solar panels and connected an electric water heater. No more leaks on roofs and easy to resolve if the electric water heater breaks. read more

Teach your sales people to be polite and professional until the very end. A simple thank you for your time before hanging up would go a long way should people decide they are looking into solar in the future. Just because we are not interested currently does not mean we never will. I made the effort to be polite and patient and said thank you but no thank you multiple times. While my sales rep Shannon is great, the rest of the company has been less than pleasant to work with. Yes they are quick to get your system Installed, but after that good luck actually getting a resolution to your problems. Maybe if they weren't in such a rush to slap the panels on your house the job would get done correctly! I had panels installed in late May, went live at the end of June and now it's the end of July and I have yet to have all my panels working correctly. They send someone out to "fix" the problem but it still persists. They then set you for another service appointment with at least a week between each service appointment. Even when they are given information as to what the manufacturer Enphase says the resolution should be they refuse to do as recommended. Installation was quick, not much of a lag between contract, permits, and actual install. Problem is a dozen broken roof tiles, not in the area of the array, in their transit from ladder to array. I now have a solar array and a blue tarp on my roof. Called the company and was told 1-2 weeks before they can get the tiles and fix the roof, even though they said the crew had already reported breaking the tiles. I should have been informed as soon as it happened now as they were ready to leave. Now the waiting begins. To be continued. read more

I did not purchase solar panels from this company but my neighbor. The only thing I can tell you about them is after they were finished they left a mess. Plastic in front of our door, spilling paint on the street twice. They did clean up the paint the first time. The second it looks like they put a divider line down our street. There was even plastic a block away which they did not pick up. They were back today fixing something today. So I don't know how well they work, but they did a horrible job cleaning up. I guess green energy is very wasteful and costly. Get rid of green energy and the planet will be happier! read more

I am super happy with the 67-panel system that I have here and with the professionalism and ethical values that Universal Solar promotes. When I had the system installed Universal Solar went above and beyond and Laszlo their head electrician really paid attention to detail with the system to ensure that everything operates smoothly in all of the apartments. And Mr. Moebius gave me some free double-pane windows to boot which he didn't have to do. Universal Solar rocks! read more

I am very pleased with Universal Solar Direct. I found them at a golden knights game. I seen their logo on the rink and decided to give them a chance (Gila monster! Lol) . My rep was a gentleman named Jonathon M. My wife and I were so impressed with his knowledge on The differnet inverters and solar panels to choose for this hot climate! Not all inverters and panels are equal! I had gotten 4 other estimates and they were all Using micro- inverters which fry in the heat! Being that Universal Solar Direct has the best financing at 0% interest for 9 years; and their American made panels, it was a absolute must to go with them. They promised to have the panels installed within 2 weeks and they had them installed in 1.5 weeks. My system has been turned on for 2 weeks now and the hands on app Is fun to monitor the system. Its life time monitoring! All four other companies promised me 25 year warranties on their product. Jonathon pointed out; indeed i was mislead. Those companies only had warranties on the efficiency of the panels after 25 years. And all 4 companies Only had a true 12 year warranty on the equipment! Jonathon told me to look up the panels models on google For The warranty information and I was shocked at what I read! However, Universal Solar Direct has a true 25 year warranty on the panels and equipment; and a 25 year Minimum production guarantee. I went to their massive 20,000 Square foot Building and met some Of the employees! If you actually want service and the work done, do your self a favor and give them a call! Best of luck ! read more

This is the only negative review I've ever publicly posted because as a business owner myself I know how important public feedback is and how too often you only hear about the "sour grapes". But if I can help somebody else from experiencing what we have I felt it necessary to make this post. We had a few different meetings with a sales rep as I've always been pretty skeptical about solar. If it's so great why do you have to try so hard to sell it? The 26% tax credit lowers after this year and they told me we could bundle a new windows package into the tax credit so we eventually decided to do it. $40,000 package for solar, windows and new pool pump. It's been 2 months since they cashed our first check and we still have no functioning solar, no timetable to when it may happen, and have no word on when our windows may show up. I was told 4 weeks from signing solar would be operational and 6 weeks from signing windows would be installed. Those timelines have both been blown by with no signs of anything coming. Solar panels were supposed to come with pigeon guards. As soon as the solar is installed I have been infested with pigeons. They claim a guy came by to check on it and verified everything is good and installed correctly with the pigeon guards. If that's true why am I finding pieces of pigeon guard all over my yard? I had to have a pest company come in to look. They said what was installed wasn't done correctly. Was quoted by the pigeon control company it would be $1,250 to make the solar panels actually pigeon proof. Ironically, this is a company universal supposedly contracts with. So be prepared for that additional purchase if you're considering a solar purchase. That certainly wasn't in my brochure. After they put up the still non functioning solar panels a month ago, I can see a bunch of roof tiles are no longer in place on my roof. They stuck them somewhere else on the roof just leaving a hole underneath. I was told someone would come by to fix it. That of course has never happened. When they came to install the new power inverter or whatever it is, my power ended up being off for over 12 hours when i was told it would be 3-4. So many things in our refrigerator and freezer were compromised. Nobody in the office was able to tell me what the hold up was but it turns out whatever they installed failed inspection by the city of Henderson. They purposely withheld that from me and I'm so upset about that dishonesty. I just kept being told "we don't know what's taking the city so long" put they just didn't want to admit their mistake. I'm also nervous it won't function properly IF it is ever activated. Hopefully the second inspection which passed means I'm overthinking it. We'll see... We were told all the initial solar install work could be completed in one day. We made the appropriate plans to take our dogs to daycare that day so they wouldn't be freaking out during the work. Then the day before they were to do the work they tell us they can't do it all in one day and will need to be two days in a row so we have to spend another $58 boarding the dogs an extra day than anticipated. This by itself is not the end of the world but another one of our many frustrations. I've been trying all week to get someone at this company to answer my concerns but it hasn't happened. I did get one phone call I wasn't able to take and I called to leave messages with two different people but 4 days later still nothing. I have so many questions! Will the solar ever be activated? Why didn't you install the pigeon guard correctly? Why is my roof broken from your techs? When will the windows show up? Why did the timelines all take double what I was told? Will I actually receive a tax credit when that time comes? (I'm now very skeptical. That will be the icing on the cake not getting that 26% back in February when it was the deciding factor for moving ahead with the project) But, most importantly... what legal avenues do I have available to pursue to void what I signed? The only reason I have it as 2 stars and not one is our sales rep does seem like a decent guy who at least appears to be trying to help but he's not on the sales side so can't do much at this point. Maybe he's blowing smoke at us too but I'll give him the benefit of the doubt for now. I've included pictures of what I can visualize for my review. I just hope these help you avoid making the mistake we did. My wife and I were so excited about this but as of this writing I can say this is the biggest regret I've made in my adult life. I had my windows replaced last year, they are now separating from the house structure, I have called 6 times, voice mail one call back but no follow up. They use a 3rd party to install who did not clean up sufficiently. I am finding the inside is now coming loose. Brian Wills was the contact for after the fact installs and he has not follwed through. Yes another update on the system installed 11/2017. Noticed on 5/14/22 no solar was being produced by checking the Solar Edge app. It was a Saturday and had to wait until Monday to call Universal to report. Of course I had to leave a message for someone to call me back as no one ever answers their phone. Seems the inverter is defective and has to be replaced. (This was the second inverter since additional panels were added in 02/2019 and a different inverter was needed) Was told it should be there in 2 weeks. Called back the next week, 5/24/22, and again had to leave a message. When they called back I was told they had no idea when it would be in because they (Solar Edge) weren't shipping any RMA's at this time. My question was "so if I purchased a new system there would be an inverter, but since I have a defective one it will have to wait." Basically the answer was yes. Called Solar Edge, the manufacturer, and discovered they don't even sell directly to Universal Solar Direct. Solar Edge sells to a distributor who in turn sells to Universal. Found out who the distributor was and called them. Turns out the inverter we have, that was installed 02/2019, is obsolete. The distributor was kind enough to try to find an inverter (that wasn't obsolete), in their system. Unfortunately there weren't any to be had. The best estimate for a replacement is August--maybe. So now it's summer, with temperatures rising every day, and I have thousands of dollars worth of panels on my roof doing nothing. And the only reason we got an answer was because WE called the manufacturer AND the distributor. Universal Solar did nothing but tell us they had no idea when the inverter would be in. Once again, great customer service. Another question I have for Universal: How is it you didn't know the inverter wasn't working? Don't you have some type of monitoring system for what you install? If not you should. Had I not checked the app it could have been weeks until it was realized the system wasn't working. Or at least until I got my electric bill. The owner is an a**hole. Contracted and then fired them after they broke a roof tile on pre-installation planning phase. They sent King's Roofing when I specifically asked them not too because King's Roofing has worse reviews than they have. My house is newer but I requested an alternate roofing company at my cost for repair and my own pre-inspection to prevent further damage as a precaution. Then I caught the idiot from King's Roofing on top of my home attempting to break another roof tile to "take a sample". This is trespassing and I fired Universal Solar Direct on the spot. The owners wife called me and then the owner himself got mouthy with me on the phone so I told them all to kick rocks. The owner is such a jack*** that he accused me of trying to scam him when I stated that I would pay a roofing company of my choice to pre-inspect and perform maintenance on my own roof at my own cost of $2000+ to ensure that his solar installers would not have any issues and to prevent leaks. On the phone he stated that he is now stuck with "$10k worth of equipment" for my home after I fired them which is concerning since the overall system quote was an additional $20k. Good grief what is your profit margin? Maybe this owner is senile and needs to retire? Stay away from Universal Solar Direct and King's Roofing. Both companies deserve to be in business together and the multiple terrible reviews they have of similar experiences. Also, go ahead and respond negatively to me or threaten me with litigation over this review. I have already consulted my own attorney. Can you give a zero for a good-for-nothing company I guess not. This company has been dragging us along for a couple of years now and we still have no resolution. First off we never received our garage car charging system or backup batteries that were promised by our shady salesperson. Our panels stopped producing due to the system needing a new sim card that the company failed to let us know, this resulted in us unknowingly using our reserve hours and going into the negative causing us to have a couple of $500 plus dollar electric bills. The company said they would replace the sim card and reimburse us for the 3 months of large electric bills. Well, they proceeded to block my phone number and emails and never sent the checks replaced the sim card, or gave the batteries and car charger. I had a few problems with NV Energy due to Universal NOT submitting the right layout and we got that fixed! Universal Solar is Terrible about calling you back! Many excuses and they pass the buck to one one else. You need to stay after them to get things done. My solar system has been installed since April 2023 and because of NV Energy's delays my solar system was delayed until June 21,2023 just after I returned from vacation to go online and get off of NV Energy. I had a problem with 2 breakers popping on my 2 a/c units on the main panel. This was inspected by not only Universal Solar but passed inspection by NV Energy. The people at NV Energy are IDIOTS and their inspectors should be fired for allowing this to pass inspection! This could have caused a fire! Fortunately when I call and brought this to the attention of Universal Solar they corrected the problem with in 7 days. As of June 21, 2023 I'm on line with NV Energy just after they sent me hopefully my last for $220.00. On June 16, 2023 I sent in my bill for the removal of the gold collar around the Electric Meter to Universal Solar and I still have NOT received my reimbursement check for $42.00. I was thinking about adding 3 more panels for a total of 35 just to make sure I'm covered not to see another NV Energy bill. I was told that this would cost me $2800.00 more for the 3 panels. I will update this review as things progress and let you know what my July and August NV Energy bills are. read more

We were also told pigeon guards were supposed to be apart of the project I trusted that everything was done correctly, 4 months later we now have a pigeon problem with nest and pigeon poop everywhere. I called to tell them this come to find out pigeon guards were never put in. It took 3 weeks for someone to come out to finish the job that was never completed. After installing the pigeon guards no one said they were leaving they just left and the pigeon guards are so sloppy done compre to others I have seen in my neighborhood it looks ugly. Over a month of an inoperable solar panel system, which is costing me HUNDREDS already, and this company still hasn't done anything to fix it! My system was down July 20, 2022. It's now August 26, 2022 as I'm writing this review and Universal Solar Direct has done nothing to fix it! Because of that, I have paid almost $300 for my electricity bill (when it should only be $13) this past month ON TOP OF my monthly $90 payments for the solar panels. I have tried reaching out to them multiple times but took them over a month to respond! Even then, when they responded, they had just started working on my situation!!! Worse still, their warranty does not cover loss of production even though it is their product's fault!!! BEWARE OF THIS SCAM! I am totally and excruciatingly disappointed with this company. I thought I could save money through them but they're just here to get me to sign papers that will feed them money and then forget everything after that. They bombard you with calls you agree to have a rep come out and the say that your spouse has to be home or they will not come out to your house. They start appointments at 10:00am. Wake up universal solar direct. Another thing ADT solar will upgrade you panel from 100amp service to 200amp service which is included in the price. I got another call from them and they said will come out even though my wife can't be here at the appointment time. The day is the appointment the call and said they need to reschedule and the rep should of not made the appointment since my wife was not going to be home. I told the person over the phone to stop calling me so guess what not more than 3 mins go by and she calls again well you can guess how that call went. So as for this company I am done. read more

Our experience with Universal Solar Direct was not good. The only thing that they did correctly was taking the money from us for the system. We decided to use the Enphase system for the solar project. When they came for the installation they had the wrong inverters in their truck, they had to go back and get the correct inverters. When I talked with customer service, they said that someone in the warehouse picked the wrong inverters. About 5 hours later I went into my backyard and they had put 12 panels on the wrong side of the roof. They had the correct drawing, but for some reason the installers put themNorth facing instead of the South facing we agreed to. We ended up with many extra wholes in our roof on the North side. They did fill in all of the wholes and did give us a letter saying that if the roof leaked within ten years they would fix the problem???????????????? When the city inspector came for our inspection they had the wrong drawings with the incorrect inverters, so they had to make new drawings for the city. That took almost 2 weeks. It obviously was not the warehouse person that picked the wrong inverters, but the drawing was wrong. After the city cleared us and NV Energy gave us the O.K. to proceed, someone came out to commission our system. It did not start to produce energy and after 2 days I called Universal and told them it still was not working. They had to De-Commission and re-commission again. Their sales people must be on commision only, because our sales person was not available to handle our complaints once the project was started. Think twice or three times and interview at least 3 solar companies before you make a decision. I did, and still made a decision to go with Universal Solar Direct. They have very bad customer service. They do not respond to phone calls. Said they would pay for the gold band removal by NV Energy. Been waiting for 3 months for my money. The install of the panels took 6 months. They claimed that the material was on back order. They will not keep you updated on anything when they start install. The craftsmanship of the install is not the best. I'm a retired electrician with 40+ years and I had to show them how to bend electrical pipe. The price was ok and the final product works. This is my experience and opinion of Universal Solar Direct, which has been one of the worst experiences with a company in my life! I am something around $73,000 in the hole, no generation for over a year while paying loan payments and contract violations from Universal Solar Direct as well as them now shutting off my solar monitoring after paying them tens and tens of thousands of dollars! When we first let them into our home to give us a quote everything seemed great. They quoted us that it would be $1500 to upgrade our power panel from 200amps to 400amps so we could charge two EV vehicles. Bringing our first financing amount total to ~$40,000. When they came to install the solar panels (which they claimed was the maximum they could install) they messed up coordinating with NV Energy which resulted in Universal Solar Direct leaving a massive hole in the side of my house where they intended to upgrade the power panel. I had to tape the inside of my garage wall shut to keep the wind out. And because they installed the solar panels before coordinating with NV Energy to get approval to turn on generation, it triggered the loan. So I had to do loan payments for over a year with no generation! So a few months went by and Universal Solar Direct came back that NV Energy wanted to charge many thousands to upgrade my power to 400 amps. They also alluded to making a mistake in saying they could fit more solar panels on my roof. So I got a second loan through them with the promise that they'll try to get the 400 amp upgrade price lowered. After I got the second loan, they installed a few more panels and a pigeon guard (mesh around panels) which they charged me for (I found out later and they admitted to now always including pigeon guard for clients after me). Mind you at this point, I have a massive hole in the side of my garage, two solar loans I am making payments on, AND NO GENERATION because they screwed up with NV Energy. This went on for over a year, where I had no generation and was making loan payments and had damage to my property that was developing rust. When NV Energy finally approved the 400 amp upgrade and turned on generation, Universal Solar Direct violated their first contract terms in installing my inverter in the wrong place (they later fixed that), totally violated terms of what they were supposed to do with my electrical circuits, and did not load balancing circuits so I could later have a battery installed on the critical circuits. My house is a mess from this and the electrical work is still not done. All I had left owed on the first contract was a few thousand, which I was waiting for them to fix all these problems during the pandemic, which I was allowed to not pay the remaining ~$3K or so per contract until they finish the electrical work. In addition, they said something to Solar Edge, which was paid in full, and they somehow got Solar Edge to turn off my solar monitoring and Solar Edge refused to help me because of something Universal Solar Direct said to them which they wouldn't tell me what that was. All this plus the pandemic nearly bankrupted me, and then Universal Solar Direct threatened to put a lien on my property over this so I gave them my attorney's information which they never contacted my attorney to resolve. So I filed a complaint with the Nevada Consumer Affairs Bureau and whatever other agency that will listen or could help me. This has been an absolute nightmare and I didn't deserve this. Their incompetence, negligence, and disregard of my first contract have caused me so much damages and anguish that I genuinely would like to sue them. This is my opinion of my experience with Universal Solar Direct, and I would no longer recommend them to even my worst enemy if I had any. read more

We have no idea how they have the nerve to say they are number 1 or how the "rating system" in Las Vegas works, but don't waste your time talking to these people. Their "salesman", Dan, talked loud and fast, never went on the roof to see the solar panels we have but disparaged another company who did (not cool), had a huge book about the company to make you feel good, but gave us nothing in writing about the proposal, the panels they would put in, the number of them and why that number would zero out the bill. Dan called and gave me a bid number the next day telling us how many more panels would fit and how much it would cost. Not how many would be ideal based on our consumption. No paperwork. If we were living in the Old West, I would swear the snake oil salesman had taken on a new product. Run!! UPDATE: February 27, 2019 - Owner, Eugene called me personally to apologize. He sounded sincere about his commitment to renewable energy. Not sure it will change anything about doing business with them, but want the public to know he did the right thing by reaching out, so I changed my rating to 3 stars. Just like any other homeowner, I was very hesitant to install solar due to existing legislative policies in place on solar. Jon came out and explained to me with great detail the benefits and cons of installing solar. He was professional and very knowledgeable. I asked him for the straight facts without the fluff and he presented me with a great cost analysis.
