My 600th Yelp review goes to Untable is a welcoming new Thai restaurant in the Cobble Hill neighborhood. They serve authentic Thai cuisine with mostly Chiang Mai influences in a casual setting. It is also worth mentioning that they were recently awarded the 2026 Michelin Bib Gourmand. At the moment, they do not accept reservations, but they gave in to us for a group of 6 people. So give them a call if you are having a big party. The menu is simple and easy to understand. We decided to order the following dishes and shared them family style: 1. Crab croquettes; breaded crab meat with Tom Yum purée 2. Sautéed Okra topped with fried garlic 3. Nam Prik Ong; northern Thai style minced pork and tomato dip served with cracklings and an array of vegetables 4. Kao Soi; Chiang Mai style curry with egg noodles 5. What the hell fried rice; super spicy when mixed with crispy chili, tiger shrimp, and sweet pork with eggs and vegetables 6. What Tourists Miss When in NYC Had a long walk through two Brooklyn gems--Cobble Hill and Carroll Gardens--neighborhoods that feel like pockets of the city where time slows just a bit. It also borders Brooklyn Heights, another beautiful historical neighborhood in NYC. The brownstones here are generously spaced with actual front gardens (hence the name), a rare luxury in dense New York. As always, food guided my steps. I ended up at Untable, a Michelin-rated Isaan Thai restaurant, and the reason I made the trip to Brooklyn. Came here for lunch with some friends and it was a hit with everyone. Started out with some of their signature cocktails which has a good range of different alcohol to chose from. We ordered 3 apps and 4 mains to share and it was enough to feed 4 people. They don't have the traditional salads but we tried the yum sampler which was kinda like a fruit salad. It was ok, nothing to rave about but the fruit was fresh. The chicken satay (from the specials menu) was good. The mussels (from the specials menu) was ok in my opinion or maybe because I ate one that was a bit fishy. My friends enjoyed theirs so luck of the draw. The Kao Soi was really good. The crab fried rice had chunks of real crab meat and was delicious. The grill chicken thigh curry was a miss for me. It wasn't very flavorful but did have a lot of heat to it. The massaman (from the specials menu) was also very good. Finished the meal with the panna cotta and basil ice cream. I didn't like the ice cream because it was too strong and herb tasting for me. The panna cotta was delicious. The service was great and the place had ample seatings available. Would recommend making reservations for a big group more than 5 and up. read more

I was excited to try this place as my friend raved about the "what the hell" fried rice - overall, would say it's a decent Thai spot, but I didn't find anything outstanding. We came for lunch on a weekend, and the restaurant was fairly empty. I tried the fried rice, and grilled chicken green curry. The curry was incredibly fragrant, with a strong coconut flavor. The fried rice was indeed spicy, and I liked the addition of mango and eggs. However, the actual flavor and fragrance of the fried rice didn't come through as much as I would have liked to. Made a reservation for Saturday night about two weeks ahead and had a great meal here. I tried: + I'm walking on sunshine cocktail - perfect + Crab croquette + Untable esan style sea bass - highlight #1 + crab fried rice - highlight #2 + nam prik ong + Kao soi - highlight #3 + Taro custard chiffon cake + Honey truffle ice cream pie Food was overall fantastic. So why not 5 stars? 1) Strict time limit is enforced (I will never not hate that at these prices) and 2) their door is broken/doesn't close behind people unless they go out of their way to push it closed - so I had to close it every 5 minutes because we were seated near the door and it was freezing out. We were on our way to Red Hook when we saw that Untable wasn't packed! We were able to be seated at the bar at around 6pm on a Friday night. Unstable is seafood protein forward with options ranging from soft shell crab, scallops, sea bass and shrimp. They had typical khao soi and crab fried rice. We got the crab croquettes which were our favorite. We split the sea bass over some broccoli, cauliflower and a squash puree. The sea bass was lovely. The Larb Maung was not what I expected. I saw a food vlogger post her food at this restaurant and it looked amazing. We were able to get a reservation two weeks out and planned a date night around this restaurant. The ambiance is both cozy and chic. It's a beautifully done restaurant with a nice size bar area. The staff was quick and efficient but not overly friendly. The menu was much more concise than a typical Thai place. This menu was carefully curated and more sophisticated. We began with the vegan spring rolls which did not disappoint. They were delicious and crispy. My husband ordered the octopus salad which was tasty but too spicy for my liking. He enjoyed it. For mains we ordered the crab fried rice( it was swoon worthy) and the larb, also delicious. I ordered the fig cocktail which was great. I'm giving this place four stars instead of five because I almost feel as if we were rushed. This restaurant is more expensive than a typical Thai place and we literally finished two courses inside of thirty minutes. The pace of service needs to slow down a little. I would definitely eat here again but maybe next time I would eat at the bar so they're not rushing me for my table. read more

I loved the food here! It was all very creative and unconventional. The restaurant is very cozy with only around 20 seats. I tried okra, vegan shrimp skewers, larb tofu, dry green curry (summer special), and khaeng ped. The okra was lightly seasoned, though not slimy at all. The shrimp skewers had a nice crispy outside and slightly chewy inside, and the sweet and tangy sauce on the side was a nice pairing. It wasn't spicy at all, even though the sauce appears to be full of chilies. The larb tofu had some heat, nutty flavor from toasted rice powder, and a light sweet and sour dressing. I liked the freshness from the greens and herbs as well. Both curries had the mock duck, which was chewy and savory, which I loved. The green curry had a small amount of sauce (where "dry" probably comes from) and a standard variety of vegetables. The red curry was probably my favorite dish because of all the fruit incorporated - lychee, grapes, and pineapples infused the broth with a pleasantly sweet tropical fruit flavor. read more

Come for the Thai food and stay for the drinks. I was so close to giving a 5 star and wish I could give half stars cuz Untable is truly over a 4.5. Came for a weekend lunch so things weren't super busy. The restaurant is airy and very simple in design. The staff are super friendly and explain things very well. We were greeted with a nice explanation of the menus with suggestions and questions about what we like to eat so they could recommend. We ended up getting the spring rolls, tartare off the seasonal menu, flank steak, sea bass and the spaghetti kee mao ( with the spicy fried rice to go). Things were sufficiently spicy without taking away from the other flavors in the dish. The apps were amazing 10/10. The sea bass was super well made with veges to balance the unexpected but amazing sauce it comes with. The flank steak was shredded in an in a bed of other spicy. This made it a little dry but still very flavorful. And the kee mao was spicy as expected and very flavorful. Very seafood forward if you're there for the protein rather than the carb. The to go spicy rice was also so so good. My one sorta down side is that there are no fried rice dishes that work for a vegetarian or someone with a seafood / crustacean allergy. This was a bit of a bummer as we love a fried rice. Everything else was spot on. I'll definitely be back and depending, might upgrade this review to a 5 star. read more

I've been wanting to try Untable for a while! It opened recently and I've heard such good things. I finally decided to try it with a friend, and I'm so glad we did! We got there at around 6pm and were seating immediately. We decided to sit outside because the weather was so nice, but the interior is gorgeous. The waiter was so sweet and explained everything to us! We ordered the green curry with chicken and the red curry with mock duck. Everything was so delicious and unique. The red curry includes several types of fruits, and the mock duck was great. Both dishes came with rice, as well. We didn't try the cocktails, but the drinks menu looked spectacular. I also saw that they have a lunch menu with lots of options under $20 each. There is street parking available, and you can get to the neighborhood using the F/G trains. Short review: Small crowded spot. Nice drink selection for a Thai spot. The spicy dishes are indeed spicy. Elevated food with ample flavors but ridiculously tiny portions for dinner. Appetizers are I believe between $12 and $20 I believe and mains are between I believe $25 and low $30s. Lunch is a much better deal and the rating is more for lunch and for the flavors than the portions. This is one of the many (many) Thai restaurants within Carroll Gardens/Cobble Hill/Boerum Hill area. I believe this spot has pedigree from Ugly Baby and another spot. The staff was OK giving suggestions and overall being pretty friendly but they were pretty quick on getting us both seated and us leaving but it makes sense as they're crowded and it was cold out so they wanted people to be able to come in. Place was crowded and as far as I can tell they don't take reservations. I would say they seat maybe 25/30 plus some bar seats. Speaking of bars, they have a nice drink selection compared to most Thai spots. They have local beers and a nice wine selection as well as a fun cocktail menu which are all $17. I had the I'm Walking on Sunshine with whisky (Maker's I believe,) passion fruit, vanilla syrup, orange juice, lemon juice, and lime juice. It was OK with probably a bit too much sourness and the alcohol only existed at the end as a small bite. Another person enjoyed their Sexy Fig. Our group of 8 had the following dishes (3 of the first one) and 2 each of the remaining dishes and we left only partially full because the portions here even for the area are tiny. Our solo appetizer was the Crab Croquettes listed as breaded crab meat and tom yum puree and I believe these were $18 for 3 pieces. This came with three reasonably sized croquettes jam-packed with crab without much filler either. The puree was thickened and had a wonderful kaffir lime and coconut base This was honestly very tasty and my 2nd favorite dish and unlike most of the mains worth it for the price. We went with the following main dishes with one dish listed first as it was the only really good main dish. The rest aren't in any particular order. One dish was the Larb Muang with grilled beef sirloin and a Changmai style spicy salad. I believe this was around $28. This was easily my favorite of the group though not a traditional larb as the meat was in thin slices instead of being chopped up. Outside of that, the flavors were outstanding with some heat but not too much and some sourness and bitterness. The meat was properly cooked as well with a slight chew but not too much. I'd recommend this heavily. Starting the other main dishes, the Pad Prik Khing with sautéed pork with kaffir lime leaves, long beans, and chili paste was well flavored but the portion was tiny. The chili in this was more subtle with plenty of flavor from the kaffir lime leaves and had a good mix of sweet, sour, and spice. The pork was very tender with almost a chicken texture. It was in the mid $20 or so and alright. I think this was the dish that came with the riceberry; a Thai purple rice which adds a good nuttiness to the dish. The Untable E-San Style Chilean Sea Bass with spicy tomato sauce and steamed vegetables was alright. The seabass was again a small portion but it was very tender. There wasn't enough sauce either but the bit they gave was well flavored. It was OK. The final dish that arrived was the one recommended online; their special What The Hell!!! Fried Rice with tiger shrimp, sweet pork, rolled eggs, and veggies condiment. Consisting of a single shrimp, a small handful of pork, and said veggies, this wasn't worth it. Sure it has plenty of heat (and more if you add the bird's eye chili) but not much else. The rice had some light smokiness. This reminded me of a bad unbalanced version of Khao Knook Gapi Boran from the nearby Boran which also has more meat and just better flavors. I decided to go back here for lunch after having gone here for dinner as I did like the flavors and I thought the lunch would be more worth it. They have four choices at this point; Old School Pad Thai, Lazy Meal (pork with garlic sauce,) Easy Go (Green curry pork,) and Something Good (Vegan red curry) which are some fun spins on the usual. I asked between the lazy meal and easy go and they recommended the Easy Go if I liked spicy food. It was excellent with plenty of heat for a green curry and the portion was better than lunch. I appreciated the strong flavors of many of the dishes here as well as their more unique local drink selection. However, I'd rather pay the same price or in many cases a bit less for around double or triple the portion at many of the other Thai spots in the area. For the dinner, it's a low 4 for the flavors and a bit over a 2 for the price outside of the crab croquettes. The lunch gets a 4.5. 3.5/5. Bare 4. read more

The Baby Corn Rockets appetizer and the house special UnTable sea bass were delicious--and from the special winter menu, the chicken satay appetizer and the braised short ribs entree were both terrific! There are numerous Thai spots in the neighborhood, but UnTable presents Thai cuisine with a twist. It's a quaint restaurant nestled in the neighborhood of Cobble Hill. First of all, I am obsessed with the menu. Whoever did the drawings is incredible and I truly appreciate the thought that went into designing the food and drink menu. To start off, we had some drinks and I ordered the Yes, Peach! ($17) while my friends had the If You Know, You Know ($17) and Sexy Fig ($17). I enjoyed my drink the most as it was a fizzy peach flavor where you barely taste the alcohol. The three of us shared an array of items family style starting off with Dirty Beef ($18) and Crab Croquette ($19). The crab croquette balls were packed with crab meat and paired perfectly with the Tom Yum puree. I also really enjoyed the dirty beef, which was essentially a beef tartare with kicks of spice in every bite. Next, we had the infamous WHAT THE HELL!! Fried Rice ($26), which had 12 chili pepper symbols next to it indicating its spice level. The waiter warned us it was very spicy, but also very delicious so we had to try it for ourselves. I can handled a lot of spice, but damn this fried rice was definitely spicy even without the chili mixed in. My friend even shed a tear from the spice. Definitely recommend getting a Thai Tea ($7) to help with the spice for this one. I am so glad to have tried this dish, but also glad to have shared it because I would've died if I had this dish alone. We also ordered the Kao-Soi ($25), which is uniquely served as a dry noodle dish instead of a broth like we're used to. The dish contains an egg noodle cooked in a kao soi sauce, which was tasty. We ended our meal with the Basil Yuzu Sorbet ($12), which was refreshing. The tartness from the yuzu was a bit much for me though, but light. Overall, this was an innovation Thai experience. It's a bit pricey, but I appreciate the creative dishes. Great for a date night or hang with friends. It's a small spot, so I wouldn't come with more than 4 people. read more

This was an overall terrible experience with ridiculously pricey food and the most pretentious waiter I have come across in a long time. Not only were they not willing to cater to kids, they didn't want kids in there period! Some of the dishes were so spicy they were inedible. I was born and raised in Hawaii and we came to visit friends and take the kids to see NYC for their first time. Having a huge Thai population in Hawaii, we have eaten our fair share of Thai food and that doesn't even include our trips to Thailand itself. The waitress was unwilling to budge on menu items for the kids and snapped at me when I asked if a a certain dish was similar to "Pad Sieu." If you want to feel fancy for overpaying for mediocre food, this is your place! The staff will make sure you feel unwelcomed and act as if your very existence annoys them. Finally an authentic Thai restaurant so close to home. It's small so it's hard to get a table. When the weather is warmer they have tables outside. The food is not typical. Stopped by with friends for some drinks and appetizers. I tried all three of their reds by the glass. I didn't recognize the grape varieties. I believe they were all made in France. They had a full bar with a handful of house cocktails. Also, a bunch of locally canned beers. I tried the crab cakes, the fruit salad, the scallop bisque, and the vegetarian spring rolls. All the items were good. My favorite was the crab cakes. Staff was very accommodating. They kindly allowed us to relocate as our group grew and provided some helpful recommendations on the menu. Quaint new Thai spot that has been around for over a year. We tried it tonight. It's a bit of a tight squeeze but the food was really good. That was the best part of the experience. I was enjoying the dinner but was not pleased as our hostess began rushing us to fit a party that had just arrived. I understand the need to turn over tables to make money but it bothered me that we did not get 5 mins after we were wrapping up our meals before she began hovering over the table asking if we were finished. No offer of dessert but it was fine because they only had ice cream if I recall correctly. So if you are going, be aware that you might be on the clock once new diners show-up. The service is very attentive and the food came out quickly. The cocktails are amazing and very creative. The minced pork appetizer was one of our favorites, a little spicy and full of flavor. The crab croquettes were good, nice amount of crab, and the sauce was delicious. The kao-soi was great, noodles were cooked perfectly but the beef was tough and chewy. Another review since I tried a lot more this time. I love the food here. For the appetizer we had their veggie rolls with spicy mayo sauce and it was really good. Red curry with mock duck was brilliant as before and it's the best red curry I have had. Their fried rice is so so flavorful. It's definitely very spicy but the textures and flavors in that dish is just amazing. The sea bass entree was delicious, loved the sauce it came with and the fish was so well cooked. Also, had their dish of the day, shrimps in coconut and spices sauce and it was great. Try their thai tea, it's not too sweet but so good!! All this came up to $200. Came back for dinner here tonight and -- wow. It's great. We started off with the crab croquettes, which were so light and beautifully executed. Followed up with the grilled shrimp with a bunch of thai herbs and cashews with a deliciously funky Thai dressing. For mains I had the mock duck curry -- which was also excellent. The mock duck was superb, and there was a lot of it. And the curry itself was very good, nicely spicy, but not overly so, and there were chunks of pineapple and yellow cherry tomatoes and even macerated strawberries in the sauce. This came with a perfectly cooked black rice. My friend ordered the "dry" Khao Sao, which he loved. This place has only been open a couple of months and is already packed -- we had to wait close to an hour for our table.
