Since it was spicy, I also got the yuzu sauce. Add 2 coconut waters (fresh off the golf course) & a small tip , and I'm out the door 10 minutes later and $20 lighter. The yuzu salmon roll didn't taste anything like yuzu, but the fish was fresh and not fishy tasting. It came with a side sauce of choice, but I wish they would've added it inside because it was hard to add between bites and the roll was bland without it. The yuzu jelly drink also didn't taste much like yuzu, and I wish they had wider boba straws instead of just normal ones! This is my go to spot when I'm hungry and want something that won't make me feel groggy after. I always get a bowl, with my favorite currently being the shrimp ceviche. The portion is quite large and so filling. The ingredients are fresh and so flavorful. The menu is quite vast, I don't think I even read the whole thing. If eating there, there are 4 tables that seat 4 each indoor. There's also a large table outdoors. Even when very busy, it doesn't ever get very noisy. I paid and asked for a printed receipt on the tablet - which I heard printing. The owner(?) took the ticket and put it on the line, so I figured maybe I'd get my receipt later - nope. My friends and I each ordered ONE THING, we didn't even get drinks since we were getting boba down the street, btw highly rec Hana Tea. And yet, something was not 100% right with each of our orders. There were 3 workers at the time, and each of them seemed to not know how to do something essential to our orders? Not super friendly. Orders took kind of awhile. Ordered lunch from uproll via ubereats I got the make your own bowl and my son got two kids rolls: avocado and chicken. We also got the mango sorbet drink and the purple lemonade. Bowl was fire. Customizable. It was $26 on the app which is pricey but I get it, there's an up charge for ubereats orders. My son's rolls were good. Skinny I wish the nori went all the way around the roll since it's for kids and it did end up falling apart but overall my son enjoyed it. Drinks: mango drink is amazing. I'd def get that again. Purple lemonade drink was absolutely disgusting. Tasted like watered down dimetapp with lemon pulp and sugar. Hadn't been here in years even though I love this little Japanese run place on Halekauwila and Keawe in Kakaako that specializes in fresh and healthy rolls and bowls. My friend just moved into the new Ililani condo across the street so I introduced him to it. To place your order you need to follow 4 steps by choosing 1) your protein (choices include ahi, salmon, shrimp, chicken, crab, and vegan) 2) bowl or roll 3) rice- white or brown, salad or quinoa 4) dressing. It took a while for us to decide since everything looked so good. We were both happy with our choices. I decided on the aburi miso salmon in a bowl with brown. With good Japanese style portioning, it was just right so I felt sated and full enough without feeling full. My friend got the lava chicken in a roll with rice and ended up saving his other half for later. Many of the drinks were also very tempting, but I decided on the limeade which was a delicious and refreshing drink full of lemon or was it lime ? chopped into tiny bits with soda water and mint. My friend got the beautiful purple Butterfly Arnold Palmer which not only looked good but also claimed to have anti aging, eyesight improving, hair growing, and antioxidant properties! I was surprised to learn that they also serve Motsunabe! Make a reservation if you're interested in that. Seating is limited with about 4-5 tables inside and an outside table that can seat about 6. Really enjoy this place. Have been coming here for years in order the same thing over and over again. Everything tastes fresh, I like that you can build your own role or bowl. Choices for vegetarians, pescatarians or meat eaters. There's something for everyone. You can watch them working on your meal. They use fresh ingredients and everything is made to order. They are located on the corner of Halekauwila Street and Keawe Street. During the time of my visit, there were a lot of construction going on around the surrounding building and streets. As for parking, depending on the construction, you may be able to park on the street. I was working at a job site nearby, so I walked. We went 1.5 hours before closing but it looked like they were ready to head out for the day since all the chairs were stacked and lights were dimmed. Note that you can park in the public parking structure to the left of the store, but they do not validate. I wanted to order the Ahi Lover Avocado but when I asked the cashier if I could substitute the ginger marinade with spicy mayo, she was confused and proceeded to up charge me for spicy mayo. While making my party's orders, it was clear that the staff wasn't sure how to make the signature items as they were looking at the menu for the ingredients. Normally this wouldn't be an issue as maybe they were new, but it took a long time to make them. We went to another spot to eat our food when we noticed both of my friend's side orders of spicy mayo were missing. We were too far out to go back to the store but unfortunately both of my friends were charged for the spicy mayo. The sushi burrito itself was good. Finally made it to Up Roll after years and years of trying to go. I would give it a 4.5 but since there's no such thing I will give it 5 stars. The hard part about this location is that there's a lot of construction going on right now in that area so it's a little hard to find parking around there. I ended up parking a little farther away. Besides that, I would give them 5 stars. The staff is super nice and friendly. If you haven't been there before they help you with ordering and can suggest which sauces go well with which bowls/rolls. And she even gave me an extra sauce to try. I got the sexy salmon roll and tried the lemon sauce plus the ginger. I preferred the ginger sauce the best. And the rolls are huge, so it's really filling! I also got their yuzu jelly drink. Since we got a gift card from this place for Christmas, decided to check it out. Parking on a Saturday was not bad (maybe because construction signs were not clear) LoL. Nice staff and service. So, finally, I went there on a Saturday afternoon, but they were closed, however, the people works there were nice enough to let me take a photo of the bears and I told him I will go back the next day to try the food. I look through all the Yelp photos and I know I wanted to try the avocado crab bowl. It was so good. They gave me two dressings, I am just not sure which is which, so I just put them all in my bowl and mix it up. For sure I will go back to try difference items in the near future. I ordered the create your own and went a but crazy adding all the vegetables I could have and boy was I glad!! I drove by after work, picked up my order, and could not get home fast enough to try it. It is a bit pricey, but they have a gift card deal at Sam's club now where you can get $50 worth of gift cards for $37.50, so 25% off, which is not bad. They are not cheap, but there is a lot of stuffing inside each one of these. We tried the sexy salmon, vegan inari, Guy Hagi shrimp, California snow crab, and a shrimp sandwich (served like a banh mi, mainly got it since it had fried garlic and fried onion). They let you pick your sauce, kind of rice, and if you want it in a bowl or wrapped. The salmon was everyone's favorite since I got it with spicy mayo, but I got everything with brown rice which meant my GM only ate the sandwich. I love brown rice and was trying to be healthier... It's hard to find tasty balanced meal like this so I'm happy. Rolls looked good too. They have ahi, salmon, or vegan roll and you can customize them (type of rice or salad or quinoa and choices of homemade dressings). I want to try the rolls too but I might order shrimp bow again. It was so good. There are variety of nice looking drinks. I had Butterfly Lemonade. It's blue at first (butterfly pea flower's color) and when I add the lemonade part (yellow), it turns purple. So pretty both before and after. Taste good too. Lemonade taste. The popular drinks were Plantation Ice Tea (Mango tea and it has pineapple sorbet in side!) and Arnold palmer (Mango tea with Lemon Sorbet). Sounds tasty but I chose the lower calorie drink. Inside was small but so cute. 3 tables so I think takeout is better. It was our first time here. We wanted to try it since we past by it many times and finally decided to check it out. We ordered: Salmon Yuzu Roll with Umami Shoyu and Limeade Mint Soda. Ahi Lover Avocado Roll with Umami Shoyu and Strawberry Matcha Latte Both rolls had a thin layer of rice on the nori with lots of veggies and a little bit of the fish. Everything was bland, which is probably why you need one of the sauces. Wish they had Sushi Rice. The Ahi Lovers Avocado...where's the AVOCADO? My roll DID NOT have AVOCADO! It should just have been named Ahi Roll. Also, when you poured the Umami Shoyu on the Roll, you cannot taste anything. We ended up putting some regular Kikkoman Shoyu and tasted way better. Still not great though. The Limeade was bitter. The Strawberry Matcha Latte...If it wasn't for the Strawberry Puree at the bottom, there's really no flavor. It be just milk...and Matcha. Food was not what we expected at all. Looks can be very deceiving...and the reviews as well cuz it wasn't that great! Wish we had gone to Alii Fish Market and spent our money there! This review is a week late, sorry! But last week was so busy with Easter and all, but it was still quite memorable, which is a good thing. I loved the food here, and pricing is more than reasonable. I had an aioli chicken bowl with an assortment of toppings. My girlfriend had a shrimp roll, and I got their lime mint soda. It was all so good and refreshing, and deceptively filling. Considering immediately afterward, I had to leave to rehearse and then lead worship at church for the next 5 hours, and was not hungry afterward, is a pretty solid feat. The flavors were delicious, and fresh! I would absolutely recommend coming here, and look forward to my next visit! After hearing all of the menu options I ended up just asking her what her favorite item was. I went with what she recommended, which was the fresh catch ahi poke bowl with all of the veggies. I actually ended up getting really full because there were so many vegetables: pickled daikon, carrots, avocado, cucumbers etc.. and they used sushi/dashi shoyu to enhance the flavor (I dumped the entire container in my bowl!) I think regular kikkoman would be too strong. The second bowl I got was the salmon lemon on a salad bed. I got sprouts on top because I was feeling fancy. The salmon was so soft, and the lemon really came through!! You can tell all the fish was fresh. It was soft, melt in your mouth kine, and none of that sus raw fish flavor. I also ordered two drinks: butterfly lemonade and yuzu jelly. The butterfly lemonade was pretty fun! Turns from blue to purple when you add the yellow yuzu sauce.
