This is a nice cafe shop. Very cute, they sell tshirts, cups/mugs and hats. Music playing makes you wanna stay there for awhile. Workers are friendly. Tables are neat and place is tidy. Had the opportunity to have a nabe dinner here for a birthday. Omg it was really good. The broth was light and tasty. Perfect meal for this rainy weather. Service was excellent. I wrote on Google already but just so that others who have sensitivities/allergies, know that the employees either do not understand this or ignore it. I ordered a bowl that I know is delicious (had it and loved it in Kailua) and I know it does not come with crunchy anything on top. I witnessed the counter lady upsell my friend before me so I suspect the same happened to me but she added an allergen and when I picked up my bowl at the counter I told them, I am allergic and I will get very sick if there is any of that on it. I expected a new bowl as (yes believe it or not) even the residue will make me sick. So I spent the rest of my vacation and then some in pain which started within 20 minutes of leaving. 1 bowl w extra salmon, 1 beer (less than 5 ppm gluten so I can have) was over $27 but not getting sick would have been priceless. read more

I've been to UP Roll a few times now, and it's always been a good lunch. You fill out the form with your order and turn it in to the counter. They make it and wrap it for you and you pick it up by the door. They have pre-thought out wraps (one with ahi, one with salmon, one with crab, one with chicken, etc). But everything seems customizable. On my most recent trip, I got the ahi wrap with ginger dressing. I think I chose the wrong dressing, because it was a little boring and I felt like it would have been better with a creamy sauce. I also had the crab wrap, which was better, but was also a bit bland. Next time I'll try different sauces. It's definitely a great place to pick up lunch. It's fast, and the wraps are between $10 and $15. read more

My husband had been here before, and told me about it. We were in town for a meeting and thought it was the perfect opportunity to stop by. We used to live in California and we frequented a sushi burrito place. When we first heard about it, we thought the concept was odd, but quickly came to love it. Right on the corner of Halekuwila and Keawe streets in the residential building. We found street parking but I noticed the building had parking too but I'm not sure if they validate. There's 2 outside tables and 3 inside. When you first enter there's a table to the left where you order your customized rolls. We just wanted to go with the ones on the menu so we ordered at the counter around the corner. We got the teri chicken rice roll with white rice and the special with salmon, edamame, meat and more. It's like a huge nori sushi roll. So tasty! We also had the limeade mint soda which was light and refreshing. There's a lot of other combos you can get- and you have it as a roll or as a bowl. I have never seen such cute decor for a poke place! It is not the typical old smelly poke place but looks just like a coffee shop. They sell their poke, in a roll or a bowl. I have eaten in both ways and I have to say go with a bowl. While it is pretty to see poke in a roll, once you take a first bite and everything falls apart. I ended up eating just by scooping using a fork so might as well as be a bowl. It is very tasty, and the fish taste fresh. Although I have tried only ahi, they have different stuff like chicken, tofu, pork and etc. I have to say it is overpriced for the quantity of fish you get. I had only several pieces of ahi cubes...thinking how much more I would get at Foodland. But they do taste good and they have good drink selections. Parking should be available on street but sometimes they are blocked and it could be hard to find a spot. I wish they validate the parking garage in the same building. Wasn't sure on where my lunch break will take me and while driving through Kaka'ako, I stumbled across this place. I always wanted to try a build-your-own-roll but I opted for the bowl this time. Coming into this restaurant got me confused. Without knowing and looking around for instructions and no guidance from the employees, you wouldn't know where to start. After searching for where to place my order, again without any guidance from the employees, I found the order sheet and began to fill out my selections. After I was finished with my order sheet on hand, I still was confused on where to place my order. As I waited by the pick up side, thinking that's where to place my order, the employees didn't seem to direct me until someone else came and was guided to the right to place an order. Umm okay, mind you I have been waiting for a few minutes waiting for someone to help me but okay, guess I'll follow. After figuring out where to place the order, I had to wait another 5-7 minutes for the person who came after me at the order counter. Then it took another 3 minutes or so for me to FINALLY place and receive my order. The bowl itself was good. I opted for the ginger ahi which was had a perfect amount of grounded ginger to give the ahi a fresh light taste. The fish was soft and melted in your mouth. Overall, the food was good. But the downhill to this was the layout of the restaurant and the lack of customer service. For a first time customer, it was super confusing (not sure why the order sheet is on one corner and the place to order is hiding on the opposite side) and a little frustrating when the employees didn't seem to guide you where to go. read more

It was pretty good, but I realized the spicy sauce reminded me of taco seasoning. It was conveniently cut in half just like a Subway sandwich. Ordered the ahi lover avocado roll with brown rice and hubby ordered same thing but a bowl with white rice. The bowl had 3x more ahi which was not much anyhow, avocado and vegetables. The roll looked and tasted good but I don't think there was any ahi at all, rice, cucumber and some corn and few pieces of daikon was all I could taste. Hubby said his was 4 stars, mine a 3 because there was no ahi in my roll. Clean place with friendly staff. Will visit the Kailua location since it is closer. Will be ordering something else though! I absolutley love this place. It was the first time they were open when we went to the newly reopen and renovated Pearl Highlands Marketplace. I ordered a bowl and miso and my daughter ordered a wrap. All the ingredients were extremely fresh and tasty. My bowl was beautifully put together and my daughters wrap/sushi burrito was huge! The miso was fragrant and HOT, just the way I like it. I love the ordering process with laminated menus and dry erase markers you simply check of the boxes of what you want! Easy peasy sushi pleasy :) It's a little pricey, as most sushi places are, but you definitely get what you pay for...lots of fresh yummy goodness! Seriously my favorite place right now. My favorite is the ahi lovers. AND I add inari (fried tofu) to it!! I get all the free add ins (except for carrots, not a big carrot fan) which include lettuce, fried garlic, fried onion, and cucumbers. So yummy. Look out for their specials - on Saturday they had a soupless ramen and it was amaaaazing. I am not a ramen fan but after having a bite of my husbands (because he wouldn't stop raving about it), we ordered a 2nd one to share. You can order either a bowl or a roll. You order lettuce or rice. There's some stuffings to choose from or choose all. There's some extras you can add for a .75-1.00. Black sesame cheesecake was good and also well wrapped (saran wrapping and a paper wrapping) so that it wasn't dried out or anything. I also ordered the limade. It's nice that you're able to add on as much veggies and such. When you head in, you walk to the far wall (don't linger by the entrance) to grab an order form to indicate what you'd like. You can have a roll, bowl, or salad I believe. I think the bowls last me longer and they're less messy so it's what I go for. Adding cream cheese gives it a creamy delicious fat and makes it more filling for me. They also take phone orders. Today's food didn't taste right. It was no taste at all and just " gamy " taste . Whom ever made it forgot to marinate the fish or the fish wasn't fresh at all . The topping was not added correctly as I ordered more and paid extra. I've been to up roll many-times but I notice the " consistency " of not getting the right order or the difference in taste . But " today " in particular it was not right . Please double check the order and make sure all the staff make the food consistently. There are better poke place anyway I don't think I would go here again . Because when you're hungry and you get the wrong order and wait again or you take a bite and have to think and check if something is wrong .... That's just frustrating and as a restaurant this shouldn't happen. They refunded the missing item and the dressing being wrong 10$ .... but like I just took a few bite and my kid too and we had to trash it . You can order these sushi rolls (like burritos) or in a bowl. I had the daily special; raw scallops, shrimp, and Mentaiko (salty, spicy codfish eggs), with all toppings, and white rice ... If you're planning on getting the "Miso pork" roll, you don't really need additional sauce. I wanted to try something new and didn't know what to expect when ordering the miso pork, so I requested for "onion dressing" to go with it. It was served in a small closed container and given to me on the side. After taking one bite, I realized that I didn't need the dressing anymore. There was so much flavor that it tasted great just on its own. Been coming here for a while now, and this place is great. You can even choose to get a bowl instead of a roll. It appears to look like there's more and it's just as great. As for the roll, it's a lot more convenient and easy for on the go. So they're both good.
