I had a lousy experience with Dyan, a designer/salesperson at Dan's. After making an appointment to…read morelook at fabric samples in their showroom, we were disappointed because we didn't find any appropriate fabrics (end use: upholstery) in the colors of my daughter's room. The man who was on site that day was nice but not helpful. In emailing Dyan later, I wrote that perhaps we should have come when she was there, because she might know the memo books better, and could point us in the right direction to find an upholstery fabric in a lavender or lilac color. Her response was that "Lavender and lilac are not popular in today's fabric industry, but we do have a selection of white upholstery fabrics." First of all, she's wrong. Mills and fabric houses offer plenty of options in lavender, lilac, and other shades of light purple. Just look at Kravet's, Robert Allen's, or any other to-the-trade website. I worked in that industry for 20 years. Second, that wasn't what I asked. I asked for her help, and I was told the color I was seeking wasn't popular and I could try a white fabric. (Of course you have white fabric!) This was not helpful, and to be told that what I was looking for is not popular is borderline rude. Her response put me off so much that I've delayed the project for a year. I'm now beginning the process with another upholstery shop and am reminded of my negative experience with Dyan at Dan's. Maybe if you get a better salesperson, you'll have a better experience. But I'll never recommend Dan's.

Aby did such a great job the first time, we didn't hesitate for her to do it again. I sent her a few inspiration pictures, and when I went to pick out fabric, she already had narrowed down the samples for us, which streamlined the selection process. A few weeks later Aby let us know our bench was ready. It was exactly what I wanted, and the fabric had the perfect texture and color. I'm sure I could have bought a new bench for the price of the reupholstering, but I don't think I can find one that's custom made exactly as I want.

It was either buy a new couch or get this one restuffed. I chose the latter because: 1. It's cheaper. 2. The frame and fabric are still in great shape. Mr. Kwong does really high-quality work, and at a fair price. He knew instantly what the issue with my old cushions was, what to restuff my couch cushions with, and got the job done in a week. Piere helped us pick out a beautiful fabric, rightly recommended to have the inner foam wrapped in plastic and added a zipper behind each so they could be easily cleaned in case of an "oops". All of this was rather a last minute thought before my wife's big milestone birthday party. Piere and his team delivered so quickly - half of the time promised and the results are absolutely gorgeous. The stitching and attention to detail was excellent. There was quite a bit of communication back-and-forth and it was all seamless. I paid 200 extra to have my seats picked up and returned because they're down in the San Jose area. It was well worth that extra cost as I'm in Solano County. I got my dining room chairs beautifully refinished by Lucia's upholstery.The quality was amazing. They also quoted me a couple weeks. All other places were saying 6 weeks or so. Super happy with my chairs and Lucia's. Give them a shot!
