Upland is kind of an Indiana staple for good reason. Good beer (presumably. I'm sober lol) and definitely good food. Coming in on a Thursday night, we experienced a bit of a rush for seating but we were sat quickly enough and then got our subsequent service fairly quickly as well. This location I think is cozier than others, where it's more sectioned off into a couple different areas with a family friendly area at the front and the bar area a little more separated. We got a nacho to start. It is huge. It can be a whole meal. We accidentally made it most of ours! I got a sweet plum burger as my main dinner. I had about half of it for dinner and saved the rest for later. I didn't think it was anything super special since the sweet plum sauce doesn't really come through in the way I would have hoped. For dessert, we got a strawberry and vanilla ice cream. I wish we could have tried the brownie, but the snow storm of Jan '26 probably made supply chain difficult. Recently Steve and I had Beer from Upland Brewing and we were highly impressed with it! The beer that we shared was a sour ale of the barrel aged variety. The beer was aged with grapes which made it very unique. This was an excellent sour because it lived up to it's beer style name nicely and didn't come off as sweet like some sour beers do. The name of the beer we had was Oak & Red. Flavors to find with this lovely sour are sour, tart, fruity, a slight sweetness with subtlety. We love Upland! Lived in Bloomington for many years back when it was the only one. When this Upland opened, the food was not the same. Over time it's gotten better and very good in fact! Their brews have always been great and continue to be. I'm also so happy that they now serve cocktails in addition to their tasty beers and wine. Also fun to sit outside when the weather is good! We've dined at other Upland locations and are quite familiar with how great their salads are, so we went that route. My daughter ordered the Thai tofu salad (her favorite) and I chose the baby wedge salad and added their housemade Southwest tofu. Both were plated nicely and tasted fresh & delicious! Their salad dressings are also housemade, so you can't go wrong with whichever you choose; each is well noted with VEG, GF, V if that's a consideration for you. We'll definitely return! read more

I just tried their "Wedge Salad" last weekend and was OBSESSED! It's iceberg lettuce, pickled red onion, hardboiled eggs, bacon, bleu cheese (omitted), and balsamic drizzle. On top, you pour their buttermilk dressing. It was one of the most refreshing salads I have ever had!! My ONLY beef is that the salad is $14. That's the same price as many things on their menu that are clearly more expensive. I don't understand how a hefty burger and fries are the same price as a salad with only a sprinkle of bacon and 1-2 eggs. Their profit margins for the salad are probably extremely high in comparison to other menu items. read more

We love this place. We get their sour power pack a few times a month for $20.99 and it's so worth it. Their beers are so unique and genuinely my favorite in the city. Their staff is always so fun to be around and super knowledgeable about the entire company. Every time we go we try a new entree and there has never been one to disappoint. We were greeted immediately and seated at a table somewhat near the door so there was a small draft, but not too terribly bad. It was tolerable. There was good music playing and it was brightly decorated for the season. My wife had their Bad Elmer porter beer and sampled their Teddy Bear Kisses imperial stout beer. She enjoyed them both. I just had a Diet Coke to drink. We had the roasted garlic hummus plate to start with. The hummus was nice, thick, smooth and flavorful with soft and warm pita triangles, blue corn tortilla chips, sliced sweet peppers, sliced cucumber, and sliced grape tomatoes. It was wonderful and perfect for an appetizer that didn't fill us up too much before dinner. I had a medium rare beer cheese burger that had beer cheese, applewood smoked bacon, and sautéed onions. I added mayonnaise to it. It was cooked perfectly, the beer cheese gave it a nice tangy flavor, the onions were nicely sautéed and tasty. The whole burger was mouthwatering good. I had fries with my burger that were warm with the perfect amount of crisp; not overdone and not droopy. My wife had the blue flame burger, it was cooked medium and had blue cheese, jalapeño, lettuce, and onion, she also had fries with her burger. She really enjoyed her burger and fries as well. She commented often just how good it was. I wish I could remember our server's name. She was really nice, she had really pretty glasses that had a sort of silver glitter around the edges. She was very nice, attentive, helpful, professional, and friendly. For anyone who is vegetarian, they have plenty of options for you as well. You would love the roasted garlic hummus plate and if you want a burger, they have impossible meat you can substitute with along with other options throughout the menu. Soooooo confession moment, I had told my coworkers I'd never been here before but I came here on a date once, but we didn't stay because the menu didn't seem appealing lol. 5 years later...raggedy parking lot is still there across the street, but the interior has been redone. Walked in and was with a party of about 13...never had a "Sour beer" before but tasted one tonight and ended up leaving with a 6 pack! I also had an old fashioned and Sauvignon Blanc (both good!) Now on to the FOOD ...the wings had potential but were not fried long enough...the spinach and artichoke dip was heavy on the spinach, but had no artichokes or cream lol, it almost looked like collard greens (that's what I called it all night). The first time I went here, I went for a sours tasting special they do often. I'm fairly new to beer, as I'm trying to not drink light beers lol, so this was a good place to venture to for a tasting. There's patio seating outside and booths and tables inside. We sat inside. The inside was super chill and you can still see outside on the patio like you're inside-outside. And it also has a projector tv display. The staff was accommodating and quick. I recently got a sour Two of Tarts that was a stretch past the tasting adventure. Lol very bubbly and clearly, sour. But I did enjoy the experience. I also grabbed me a burger (Bad Elmers Fav) which has applewood bacon, cheddar cheese and bbq sauce ! Yummy. The bun was buttery crunchy on the edges, which was to die for and the bacon wasn't too crunchy or chewy, just a good combo. I also got the potato salad as a side. The potato salad surprised me! The potato wasn't to big and the sauce was yummy with hint of dill. Definitely a good chill spot to grab a filling meal or just a beer that's not super crowded or loud. read more

I can't tell you how much I'd hoped that my experience with the Upland Brewing Co. Tasting Room at 49th and College would be a slam dunk, overwhelmingly positive experience. Unfortunately, it was decidedly mediocre at best. Taking over the space previously occupied by Open Society, this latest in the Upland family of brewing spaces offers Upland brews and menu options ranging from starters/snacks to salads to grilled sandwiches, and a handful of pub favorites. Like all restaurants/bars in Indiana right now, Upland is dealing with the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic. This means that dine-in options don't exist and their entire business is dependent upon carry-out/delivery of beer and or their dining options. As I was participating in Yelp's Big Night In, I placed an order for delivery hoping it would arrive between the event hours of 6-8 pm. I used GrubHub, which is nearly always a hit-or-miss option, and anxiously awaited my order of a Hoosier Classic Tenderloin Sandwich. It comes with pickle chips and a side with the choice of brewery fries, vegetarian potato salad, bleu cheese coleslaw, or potato chips. I opted for the fries. I also ordered an unsweetened iced tea. The food actually arrived a little earlier than expected - a plus. It was placed at my doorstep for no contact delivery. I noticed right away that there was no drink included with my order and tried to catch the driver. Unfortunately, he either wasn't paying attention or knew his mistake. Regardless, I was missing part of the order. The tenderloin was quite average. The bun was lightly toasted, but the tenderloin had the texture of a fritter. It was not quite warm upon arrival - it was edible, but it was certainly nothing I'd ever order again. The fries? While the order was somewhat small, as a side item it was sufficient and the fries were easily the highlight of the experience. They're nicely seasoned brewery fries and I would definitely order them again. I contacted GrubHub related to the lack of a drink and was promised a refund for the drink. My fear is that they'll place it back on what was now an empty gift card - thus giving me a $2.73 gift card that would require me to spend yet again. My hope is they'll use the payor source I used for the amount I owed, but as of this time they've not done so. Overall, I'm still thrilled to support local as Upland is a solid company and does a lot for the community. They're in a hard spot and I'm glad I could support them tonight. I look forward to visiting the location in person once the pandemic calms down and life returns to at least some semblance of normalcy. For now, however, I do have to rate the experience I had and this experience was definitely a mediocre one between a missing item and an average, barely warm main menu item. So, 3-stars it is - an unfortunate result for my participation in Yelp's Big Night In. read more

So disappointing!! I've been to this location before and the food was good. This time was a combination of issues. First, we ordered it to be picked up by Door Dash. They driver picked up one of four bags. by the time that was straightened out and we had all of our food, it was cold and the burgers were very rare inside. the patties were small and the portions little. you would think a $120 order would carry a little more care. For the meal we would have been better at a fast food restaurant. I will never go back and suggest you don't go there as well. read more

This was my first time at Upland. Each time I drive by, the patio seems filled and seems like a busy place. The day we went was a very hot day but it wasn't that busy and plenty of indoor and outdoor seating. It's a nice and simple brunch menu. It has the staples of biscuits and gravy, a breakfast (bagel) sandwich, and stuffed french toast... but has some surprises like grit bowls (vegetarian included), frittata, and apple pecan coffee cakes. 3 years since I have reviewed here and a lot has happened since then. They bought the corner restaurant and punched a hole in the wall to connect the 2 places. Today I came in on the usual south entrance on college. The bar area has changed a bit, but the openness of it all inspires open conversation. If I had been here earlier I could have enjoyed the Sunday brunch. A few of my friends said the biscuits and gravy is pretty good here, but today I am too late for any of that because the brunch runs from 10-2. I actually got to eat here once, but the menu has changed and I cannot remember what it was that I had. I do remember that 3 of us dined and nobody had leftovers or extras to take home. The past two times I have been here I have been treated with poor service. I visited today (2/9) at 4:30. There was no host so my boyfriend and I sat ourselves at the bar- it was not busy as there were many open tables. A male server walks in, stands by our table, and loudly says "I am so over today. We have people seating themselves and I am so done". Firstly it's a bar, which is typically open seating. there was no sign. Secondly we would have gladly moved if asked. It's not that deep lol. He continued to complain and the girl bartender was very kind trying to help him and calm him down. He said "you don't need to help our guests should be helping" and continue actually whining. Congrats to Upland for their new expansion! I love how they kept the cool twinkle lights and modern brick of the previous restaurant, but made it slightly more friendly, casual and comfortable. There are two bars and the rest is 'seat-yourself' seating. The servers were super kind and friendly, which honestly sets the tone of an entire establishment. They serve Upland beers and sours, wine, and some tasty-sounding signature cocktails. They also serve some good-looking food: wings, burgers, salads, nachos, grilled cheese, mac & cheese and more. It's a fairly simple menu, but they added unique twists to basic options. For example, I got the Southwest Seitan salad which had tomatoes, cheese, corn and jalapeños and fried seitan (had never tried that before!). We also got the nachos with chicken and they were delicious and super loaded. The only thing I'd add to the menu would be a healthy option that isn't a salad (like a turkey or chicken burger or a non-fried app). A few people had laptops out in the middle of the day, so I liked that you can also work from here with a beer mid-day (and then get dinner later of course). Way to crush the expansion, Upland! Fun little spot just south of the heart of broad ripple. They have a decent variety of beers/seltzer's on tap so I decided to go with a flight to try them since this was my first time visiting. Super friendly staff that gave recommendations and brought us small samples before ordering a pint/flight. The grapefruit seltzer they have was by far my favorite! Nothing like a seltzer I have ever had before and even bought some in cans to take home and enjoy because it was so good! The place is pretty big but there is pretty limited seating due to covid, we went on a Friday night and it wasn't too busy which was kind of surprising. Honestly I wasn't even aware this place offered brunch but venturing out this past Saturday and realizing everywhere was slammed due to Butler graduation we got to this place right as it opened.
