For appetizers: nachos were great, but if you ordered a simple nacho, it's meh, we had to add several things and added $$ to make it REAL nachos. The dip for the pork rinds was good. The table ordered truffle fries, they finished it. It was our first time trying Upland beers. Most of the options are IPA and tart beers. None of which I like. The mixed drinks menu was meh, they offer 2 hard ciders, but one was unavailable. Our server let us try samples and she was very patient. For main dishes: I ordered a Salmon BLT. I DO NOT RECOMMEND. I didn't eat it with the bun, salmons was very thin, 1 piece of bacon, slice of tomato and 1 piece of lettuce. We had mac and cheese, DO NOT ORDER, it was floating in fat and there's no taste to it. Fish and chips was okay. The pizza was the highlight, it saved the night, I think. Bathrooms clearly labeled, easily seen, and clean. For 6 people, 2 of whom did not have alcoholic drinks (just water), our bill with tip was over $350. Having been in Indiana for 15 years; I've visited a handful of the upland locations, the 82nd street one is the newest location for me. I sat at the bar, and was able to catch some of the Olympics which was nice! There is a good selection of beer, and I ended up picking the champagne velvet, which is a great lite beer and good starter. For my main course, I went with the tenderloin with everything. I enjoyed the stone ground mustard, and there was an interesting fermented pepper sort of deal on there was well which I wasn't mad at! Glad I was able to stop in! Every once in awhile old friends come into town and all 16 want dinner and room to talk, not a banquet after all. I called Amanda at Uptown and she assured me that she would sit us up so we could do as I had requested. The arrangement was beyond believable. A small nook in the back of the restaurant. Perfect Andrea greeted me the minute I walked in and made sure it was ok! Of course. The next test was good service. She got everyone their drinks within minutes of one another. She asked when to take the dinner order. And did so as I had asked. Get this, the food was unbelievably good and she delivered it, and seemed like she did so all at the same time. Outstanding! The manager stopped by and we sang our appreciation for the service we had gotten. We just walked out and while the food was awesome and service was overall quick, I was very frustrated when our bill came and $6 kids meals turned into $11 and $14 meals due to up charges we weren't made aware of. Our son was going to order two meals, one burger and one mac and cheese and she asked if he just wanted it at the side, and I asked if they could do that and she said "yeah we can". Not mention that it was a $5 up charge. We then ordered the same for our other two with bacon added for one. No mention about packages. The bill came and instead of $18 it was $36. My family and I had stopped at the 82nd Street location in Indianapolis for dinner. They have more than a dozen of their beers on tap, including the year-round Dragonfly IPA and Wheat Ale, but they also have seasonal selections and a handful of sours. For dinner, I enjoyed the Nashville hot chicken sandwich with Broad Ripple chips ($15). The giant piece of fried chicken was topped with blue cheese slaw and horseradish pickles on a toasted brioche bun. This was a really good sandwich, not overly spicy, but with a subtle heat that I enjoyed thoroughly. My wife noticed that any of their burgers can be subbed for grilled or fried chicken, black-bean patty, local bison, or impossible meat. She had the Bad Elmer's Fav with fried chicken, sharp cheddar, applewood bacon, Bad Elmer's Porter BBQ, lettuce, tomato, and onion along with a side of brewery fries ($16.50). This was an enormous plate of food! I think the Nashville hot was the better choice, but still, this was really tasty. Our kids enjoyed their selections from the kids menu. I've been on business travel lately and I was sent to Indianapolis for the first time. Once I checked into my hotel I did a Yelp search for food and found this brewery was very close. I like trying local places and avoiding chain restaurants so I headed over. My bartender was very friendly. I asked for a recommendation on beer and she asked what my favorite types are. I said Stouts, Reds, IPAs in that order. She told me about their beer called Teddy Bear Kisses. She also gave food recommendations, which was good but nowhere near the beer :) The Stout was amazing, one of my top five stouts all time. It was strong, very flavorful, and smooth. I wish I could have taken some home to Texas with me. Breweries here could learn a thing or two from Upland. I ordered a pizza, which was good. I don't want to take away from that, but the. He could not have been more excited to be at work and interact with customers. He was willing to explain anything about the menu and beers and just chat in general. There was soooo much going on in the salad from the fresh turkey to the plentiful avocado to the delicious dressings and the crunchy granola, I just loved it. It was also huge! I took about 1/3 home with me, but ate it as soon as I got there because I was craving the flavors. My son got a basic burger. He's not much one for adventure or toppings, so although a plain burger, he was really happy with the quality of the beef and the bun. The fries were an excellent side choice. I met some friends for dinner and a beer at the new Upland Brewery location in Castleton. The ambiance is very nice with big screen TVs all over the place and the beer menu displayed on the walls. The food was good as it always is at Upland Brewing company. I ordered the Blackened Salmon BLT with fries and it was delicious. The beer is always good, especially the sours. I had the Two for Tarts Rose with mango and passion fruit and the Juicy IPA. They were refreshing and wonderful on the pallet. However, the service at this Upland Brewing company location was disappointing. I asked for a water with my beer twice and never received it, and when I asked for a second time, the server had a condescending attitude about it. Our server was hardly ever available when we needed it, and seemed to disappear if we needed something. We had to grab another server to take our food order because our server was not available. It was a good thing I had a gift card to use for Upland Brewing company for my meal, because I would not have paid the price for the mediocre service I received at this location. Other than that, everything else was fine, but the majority of the big screen TVs did not work and had a message across the TV stating there was a technical issue with the basketball game we were watching during our meal, so that was a huge inconvenience. Looks like the manager needs to check on the cable situation for the TVs. Usually, I am a big fan of Upland Brewing company and have had a good experience at their locations, but at this particular location, it was not a good experience service wise. If the staff work on their customer service and fix their TV issue, then this location will be a great place for a meal and beer. Upland Brewing company has great beer and good food, so I would hate to have this location go down in flames due to lack of customer service. I would recommend the manager give some training on customer service to the staff at this particular location to make things better for themselves. It is just a recommendation based on my experience. Other than that, Upland Brewing company is a good place for a beer and a meal. I highly recommend the sour beers. They are fantastic. read more

I'm giving this place at least 2 stars mainly because our server, Deedee, was fantastic and clearly worked incredibly hard. Unfortunately, we had to wait 20 minutes for what seemed like microwaved $12 nachos. The food overall was just average, and we left feeling unsatisfied--not because of Deedee, though. It was clear Deedee was one of the few holding things down with little support. My husband's cheese on his burger was cold. The best thing I ate were the fries which became stiff after a couple minutes. The restaurant was clean with hardly any guests. The prices were way too high for the quality of food we got. When we arrived, we were given the option of sitting in the bar or family area. We were told the family area was overwhelmed with kids, so we chose the bar. I'm guessing the restaurant was understaffed, especially for a Monday afternoon. The drinks were overpriced, so we ended up skipping them. Decided to try a different place for supper tonight that landed us at Upland Brewing. It's a very spacious bar/restaurant. At first entrance it was quite noisy. Thankfully they sat us around the far side of the bar so it was a bit quieter. The server was very friendly and made great suggestions. I tried the break away beer. It was light and refreshing. Not overly filling as some beers can be. We had the whipped feta. I'm not a fan of hot stuff and even though it had jalapeño- it wasn't hot and was very tasty! Entrees- I did the Wit Mac n cheese and added bison. It was fantastic. But a lot of food. Other entree was a Caesar. Add chicken. Both meals were good. So glad we found Upland, we had a very memorable and enjoyable lunch and I highly recommend you stop by. The beers are great, we tried four of them just in our one lunch stop! The sours are where it's at if you like sours and the lager is nice and clean like I like them. The service was hands down what made our visit! Liz, the manager, came and checked on us shortly after our food arrived and our server Jeff was very attentive as well. Both folks were super friendly and genuinely happy that we chose Upland. The Wedge Salad is unique and delicious with a sweet buttermilk dressing and balsamic glaze that gives so much flavor! Not your typical wedge salad but with all the flavors, including pickled onions, it was a delight. The pizza needs a little attention but was good, just not great like we thought it would be being stone fired. The sauce has no flavor so it's all on the meats to bring it to the top and they just couldn't do it! We had not one, but two awesome experiences coming here with family. I made a reservation for a large group when we had family in from out of town and it was so great that we made another reservation for the next week for my nephew's graduation. They were incredibly accommodating and so nice! We had almost 20 people with several who have special dietary restrictions, and the entire staff was so great about it. After MacKenzie River vacated this spot at the end of a long strip center at 82nd and Allisonville Road, I eagerly anticipated its next tenant and was pleased when I saw the familiar Upland Brewing banner laying claim to this spot. This latest location of Upland opened quietly this past week and I decided to make a visit during this long holiday weekend. It's obvious that work continues for Upland as it appears they are continuing to overhaul this space and to make some additions to the exterior. That said, the interior has been given a rather gentle yet meaningful renovation with more open spaces and a more casual ambience. Upland Brewing is an Indiana-based brewery founded in 1998 with three current brewery locations and six brewpubs including this latest spot. There's a couple of accessible parking spots out front along with a concrete ramp, though one of the spots is at least partly impacted by ongoing renovations. There's a double entryway with both doors being a combo of glass/wood and a wee bit heavy. As you enter, you arrive at a hosting station. To the left is an adults-only bar area. To the right and straight forward are family friendly areas and upon my arrival multiple families were present. In terms of additional accessibility issues, there's an area at the back that has a step up into it, though there are plenty of accessible tables. I did notice that the bar area has mostly taller tables, though there are shorter options. The same is true for outdoor dining with a combination of taller tables and more traditional tables. I was seated at a 4-top. My server, Victoria, was friendly and help but not overwhelming. I'd say the same was true for pretty much everyone I met. There was a friendliness, but it felt genuine rather than overkill. I like breweries, though I don't drink a lot. Fortunately, Upland has a variety of options in terms of soft drinks and my usual iced tea. The menu is somewhat consistent with other Upland locations and includes appetizers, a handful of pizza options, sandwiches, burgers, salads, a handful of dessert options, and some other items. I opted for a Classic Burger, though I skipped cheese. I ordered brewery fries as my side (along the line of steak fries). The meal came in at $14.50 plus drink. My entire bill including tip came in at just over $22 (I tipped 20%. Quit trying to do the math. Geez.). I did get my always desired iced tea refill. There are a handful of televisions hanging on walls along with overhead music. It's a wee bit loud, but not intrusive. I'm not quite sure what I'd call Upland in terms of design. It leans toward a casual, natural environment and is a combination of tables and wooden booths. I did worry a little bit about exiting as the aisles are a bit narrow, though I was able to do so without too much difficulty. My gut feeling is that Upland will do well in this spot. While on the surface it may seem like it's similar to MacKenzie River, there really are quite a few differences. Plus, Upland is local and has a strong local fan base. All the usual Upland beers are here. I was tempted by a delight called Polar Bear Kisses, which may be the closest I come to getting in the holiday spirit. Truthfully, I could probably go 4-star. The burger, made from angus beef from Jasper, Indiana's Fischer Farms, was incredible but it did fall apart a bit (a personal pet peeve). Plus, I do have a little bit in the way of accessibility concerns, however, all of this is relatively minor and the top-notch service and genuinely tasty meal all lead me to give the benefit of the doubt in their first week open and stick with the 5-star. Will I be back? Absolutely. As an FYI, they also do payments by the Toast app and they do also have a rewards club. I found a new date night staple! I'm absolutely obsessed!!! From the moment we walked in, the ambiance was welcoming and inviting. I ordered the salmon BLT, and it was nothing short of perfect. The salmon was cooked perfectly, the bacon was crispy, and the flavors were balanced, and I was impressed by how well it reheated for my lunch the next day. I'm honestly hesitant to order anything else when I come back because it was so good. My boyfriend opted for the fish and chips, and he couldn't stop raving about them. The fish was not greasy, and the fries seemed to be double baked - very crispy, and also not greasy! This is our second time here and eating on the outside covered deck is so crazy nice in good weather! This is in a busy area in a busy shopping center but the deck, built at the end of this line of buildings, is full of trees and grass and so pleasant. Now the food, since that's the whole point, right? First of all, we love their Bad Elmer's Porter. It isn't too heavy or sweet, just a lovely dark beer. I ordered the Turkey Guac sandwich, served on french roll, lovely slices of turkey, tomato, red onion, bacon (undercooked for my taste), lettuce and cheese with guacamole on one side and a slightly spicy toasted Islands spread on the other. I had the blue cheese cole slaw as a side and found it a little too heavy with blue cheese for me. All in all, a lovely sandwich and cole slaw. I just had to pick a few things off of both to make it perfect for me. RRR ordered the bratwurst with french fries. First of all, their fries are amazing. So crunchy!! RRR said the brat was ok but he wouldn't come here just for that, and the chow chow that came with it was just a bit sweet for him. No complaints just didn't knock it out of the park. After being a pain in the ass and changing tables three times, we finally settled in at a four top and met Nicole, our server. What a great server you have there!
