    Chicken Wings, blue cheese
    Ry T.

We've been hoping to try this place and it finally opened for dinner 2 mos ago. There were delays in the opening from the Covid pandemic shut down and then the contractor on the project retired, so the owner, Martin, had to start all over. Martin also has a food truck at the Spark Social SF in Mission Bay before branching out to a restaurant space. We sampled the 6 pieces chicken wing, laid over a spicy sauce, sprinkled with blue cheese (the option we picked). The wings were OK, nothing special and I wished it was more crispy. Hubby liked his fried chicken and beef sliders and remarked the meat quality was very good. Jr Yelper tried the double beef patty slider and thought it was good. I liked my salmon belly soft tacos. The pickled onions on top were tart and tasty. Plan to be back to try other dishes.

Great crispy fries! Lean Horn is a solid meal--fried chicken breast on salad. Nice addition to the neighborhood.

Fresh avocados Asada with flavor Strawberry agua fresca to wash it down. Something about sitting towards the back looking at the front door, the sound of change clinking in the cash register, the smell of different Mexican meats being cooked on the grill and the hustle and bustle of the mission right outside made me give this place 5 stars. I have dined here many times in the past, and this is a cash-only restaurant. I ordered the Regular Burrito with Beef Steak ($10.25). The regular burrito comes with a flour tortilla, rice, beans, salsa, onions, and cilantro, plus your choice of meat or vegetarian. Meat choices listed on the menu: * Al Pastor - Marinated Pork * Carnitas - Deep Fried Pork * Chile Verde - Pork Green Sauce * Chorizo - Mexican Sausage * Carne Asada - Steak * Lengua - Beef Tongue * Pollo - Chicken * Cabeza - Beef Head * Tripas - Intestines I asked the cashier which meat was most popular, and he recommended the beef steak, which had a slight hint of spiciness. The burrito came with pinto beans and rice. I forgot to ask if I could substitute black beans. The burrito wasn't too salty, and the beef steak was just okay. I also think the $10.25 Carne Asada burrito is a good deal. At other taquerias, carne asada is often an additional charge or the burrito costs more when you choose steak. I usually ask for a receipt even when paying cash. When I checked my receipt, I noticed I was charged an additional $0.25 for "Bolsa To Go" (bag) even though I was dining in and didn't receive a to-go bag. It's not about the $0.25, but I think it's important for a business to have integrity and charge customers only for what they actually receive. I hope this isn't something being charged to other dine-in customers as well. Overall, I would come back to try a different meat, but next time I'll make sure to clearly say dine-in and check my receipt to make sure I wasn't charged for a to-go bag.

The food is good, and it's clear that people will fall in line for it. I don't mind going back. Chips: It's free, and it's chips w/ salsa. Enjoy it. Birria Taco: I think a lot of restaurants are starting to understand how birria is made, so I'm noticing that the average quality is going up. While the taste profile of the meat and the consommé are above average for this place, I feel that the birria that I eat is beginning to taste the same. Kudos on the size; some spots skimp on the size. Lengua Super Burrito: I think this is priced very well for a large burrito. I am a fan of their lengua, and I'm also happy to report that I didn't feel cheated with the lengua portion size inside the burrito. I tried their asasda, and it was bad, so I'm very happy that the lengua was very good. Service: You order, you pay, you wait for the food to arrive. Nothing crazy. Ambiance: It's a smaller corner spot, so you really gotta get lucky with the seating. The line can get crazy at certain hours of the day, so it's gonna be hard to sit and stay a while. I'd just eat here and move on.

They have a hostess with a podium just outside the door taking orders. We ordered and indicated that we wanted to eat in, in which case we continued to wait to be seated. They have someone in charge of seating people as well (much needed). This place is apparently a landmark. Old fashioned, fast paced, efficient, small, authentic, mostly delicious! Tried several of their tacos, the chicken quesadilla and a burrito. The burrito was delightful. Plenty of steak but still balanced and fresh. The steak tacos are also meaty and good. The meat is well seasoned and, being authentic, it is allowed to be the prominent ingredient. I would similarly describe the chicken and even the beef tongue tacos. What I loved the most, however, was the beef head taco. Immense and incredible flavor beefy flavor, not to mention that moat restaurants wouldn't dare having it on the menu. By far the best taco I've ever had. If I get the chance to visit La Taqueria again that's all I want to eat. Unfortunately there were also two items that I found to be disappointing. One was the quesadilla. Even though the chicken is good it was very greasy. The other was the pork taco. Didn't love the flavor and, again, a bit on the fatty side for me, which is not often my opinion on a pork dish. All in all, if you want to experience authentic tacos, go here. And... live a little! Order the beef head taco.

They have pickled onions with sliced habaneros and a few different salsas. I like the red salsa, creamy green one (kinda spicy), and the creamy habanero (very spicy). The tacos were good. Pretty decent amount of meat. The quesadilla was also good with a decent ratio of cheese and meat. I thought the al pastor was missing that typical strong savory-sweet flavor though. They also added pineapple in the quesadilla. There are a lot of options in the area but this place is worth a try.
