On hold with customer service for 30 minutes as i was going out of town, seemed like the rep was talking from a customer service 101 manual while chewing gum. I couldn't wait, had an emergency, and needed the package the same day. I drove to the UPS store, explained the situation, and the ladies worked things out in no time. Worst UPS Store when delivering packages, I live in an Apartment and there was no attempt to deliver the package to go inside or ring the Apt, on second attempt I wrote a note on the package online in the website to specifically ring the Apt Buzzer to notify, however same thing happened and there was no attempt to deliver the package. I would suggest a pickup from a different nearby UPS location than this place. read more

I ordered from Omaha Steak Company, paid extra to have a gift box of steaks and other food items delivered today to my son in Studio City. He called Omaha Steaks around noon, asking for a delivery time, they told him anytime before or by 7 pm. The box of food would be fine until 8 pm and then the dry ice would no longer be working and the food would begin thawing. He has sat at his apartment the ENTIRE day waiting for the UPS truck to arrive. They had my telephone number and his telephone number to contact if needed. He called me at 9 pm and stated the steaks or UPS had not arrived. Due to the hours of operation, UPS in Van Nuys is not open and will not be open again until Monday. There is obviously no way of getting hold of Omaha Steaks at this time of night or UPS. So, what can I do to rectify this problem and not lose $80.00 + worth of steaks? NOTHING!!! Sharing an experience with UPS for international shipping in the hopes that others consider using ANY other shipping carrier. Purchased a guitar from an online site, which included prepayment of shipping fees and notification for additional Import fees, taxes due. UPS website noted such fees due based on the tracking number for the shipment. Had to pay the import/ taxes over the phone (UPS website didn't accept payment). Learned through refusal to deliver by the driver that he needs payment of import fees/ taxes as COD. NO- paid online: Driver needs a "release code" (internal code showing the fees were paid). that was the 1st attempt: 2nd delivery attempt, driver just didn't show up and noted on the tracking record "attempted delivery" (no delivery slip, I waited 6 hours and cancelled appointments for nothing). Customer service, after dropped calls and numerous navigation prompts to customer service, stated that I can and was able to hold the package at a local service center (Van Nuys, CA). go to service center....wait for it...... no package, and no release code for paying import fees! "ummm- left hand.....meet your paternal twin, right hand. Hey; you should work together sometime"). I gave their release code to them (internal process code to UPS) after persuading their brokerage to give it to me after paying the fees over the phone. Empty handed on day 2, we get to DAY 3: Day or reckoning (will the driver fail to show again, marking a fake "delivery attempted"?, or actually bring this total failure to a close???? Well, just before 7p (delivery estimate said 3p- keeping my on my toes, eh?) he delivers. Moral of story- Their own service center employees state "please complain- customer service doesn't know what's going on, our website doesn't have accurate info, and our systems are antiquated". Question would you prepay almost $100 for this type of service? Right....I didn't think so.....Horrible process breakdown at UPS. BUYER BEWARE. read more

Went to official ups location sat Jan 2 opened at 10:am second in line. Counter person disappeared in back for twenty minutes said could only find one of two packages to person in front of me. Said come back. My turn person disappeared in back for twenty five minutes came back said couldn't find my package and would keep looking while helping the next people in line which had built up to about thirty customers. I decided after to come back another time to give myself time to cool off. Worst company incompetence I've ever experienced. Next time strap a package to a stray dog better chance of getting there. Very disappointing service for such a reputable and large corporation. I placed an order with costco that was never delivered on time. I tracked it and the reason mentioned was my address was incorrect. I have placed numerous orders with costco to this same address and my packages were all delivered on time. I called this UPS store (16000 Arminta St in Van Nuys, CA 91406 (818) 947-4819)to confirm my address and they told me it'll be delivered the next day. I waited all day next day, Friday Dec 4th and I never got the package. I called multiple times within the day and kept getting the same response "your package is out for delivery". Finally I made one final call at 10:30 pm and the lady who answered said that the drivers completed their hours for the day and that my package will have to wait until Monday. This is very disappointing service. Costco should find a reliable courier for their services because UPS is definitely slacking. read more

Terrible experience with UPS. I tracked my package, a printer, and could see that it had arrived at my local UPS (Friday), but would sit waiting over the weekend until delivery. I called the UPS 800 number, talked to an agent, and they redirected my delivery to be picked up Saturday morning after 10am at the Van Nuys pickup center. Saturday morning I called to confirm only to be told something entirely different. No I could not pick it up, the Van Nuys pickup center isn't even open on weekends. No I could not get it early, it has to sit until their scheduled delivery date due to their sorting procedures. No, they could not explain why the previous agent gave such different answers. No, the second agent didn't care. No No No, I won't use UPS again if I have a choice. read more

I shipped frozen food to my son in San Fco. to be delivered next day, I paid extra money to make sure package was there on time. UPS did not leave package because no one was home???? I called to complain why driver didn't leave package outside like they do it all the time at my place. I told UPS it was raining where I live and UPS dropped off a box by my from door even if I wasn't home, why UPS in San Fco. couldn't do the same thing. UPS told me because it was up to the driver. I was very upset because my son was expecting his favorite food and now the food got spoiled after UPS messed up. I believe UPS has too many employees with no training......or.... UPS is letting older employees with experience go to hire young people that they only goof around with their phones all day long and make stories that owner was not home.....really bad service......will never use them again. These guys are your worst nightmare! It's 10:30pm and the idiot that delivered my package (a 120 pound TV stand in a box) left it leaning on the front porch so that I can't open my front door and no one can even get to my door!!! I can't even budge it! I have been trying to find out for a week who was going to deliver it and Walmart didn't have any information. Apparently it was "dumped" on my porch at 8:30pm tonite - NO knock, NO ringing the doorbell - just dumped there and left trapping me in my house! I have a dog so if he had made any attempt at all to let me know he was leaving the box my dog would have heard him if I didn't. It's heavy so he probably dropped it several times, too, for all I know! ONLY AN IDIOT would lean a heavy package so that it blocked the door of a house . . . IN PLAIN SIGHT FOR ANYONE WHO HAPPENS BY, TOO! So much for caring about their packages being stolen. I called them and was told they've all gone home so they may call tomorrow at 10am if they feel like it. In the meantime it's up to me to find help and I guess pay someone out of my own pocket, too! Why should other people do the work that UPS and their lazy, stupid drivers are paid well to do? The way they drive their trucks, too, it's amazing that they don't kill people every day and they park wherever they want blocking streets, alleys, cars that are parked! This is to voice a concern regarding the delivery of packages, as well as a concern with the UPS My Choice setup on the UPS website. First, in regards to this delivery, the driver did not leave a door knocker. Although we were home, we did not hear the knock and we didn't know a stop was made because there was no info tag left on our door. Second, the driver typically leaves packages at our Apt. Leasing Office and for some reason it was not done so on this occasion. We understand that it possibly could have been a different driver. I spoke with a UPS telephone agent about this and was told that UPS My Choice was away to let the driver know what our delivery instructions are. We went to register on the UPS My Choice website and it would not allow us to register. The website said that our address on Napa St., zip code: 91343 was a commercial address. How can this be when we have gotten deliveries to this apartment location several times before. We tried to contact UPS customer service support on Sat. between 11am and 12pm. We were put on hold for well over an hour. We finally had to hang up the phone because the wait time was way beyond reasonable. I think UPS could benefit itself, as well as its clientele, if it would simply update it services so that it is more accurate. read more
