Better than any other Uhaul that I have been to, and I have rented a lot of trucks.

"Anything that can go wrong will go wrong." - Murphy's Law…read more The wife and I used Pack Rat to move a container of belongings from the Bay Area to Southern California. We went with Pack Rat because they were slightly cheaper than PODS and because their customer service was very helpful when we called with initial questions. Their drivers were equally helpful, and they sent us a message the day before pickup and dropoff, respectively, giving us a window for arrival. Where things went wrong was after the container had been picked up and shipped down to SoCal. We got a notification that our container had been damaged in a forklift accident. Fearing the worst, we called customer service and the agent, after some investigation, informed us that our container was at the Van Nuys facility and the contents needed to be unloaded and transferred to a new container due to the original container having been damaged. Fortunately for us, it seemed like the contents were fine. When we were ready to receive the container at our new house a few weeks later, we called again and were told that the facility had marked our move as complete with the contents to be picked up by the customer. Fortunately, the agent was able to work with the people there to get the matter straightened out and get the container delivered. The facility had coded up the delivery as a new local move which generated new fees, but the agent recognized the error and got those fees removed. When the container was delivered, I found the stuff inside packed haphazardly. All the careful packing I had done had gone out the window when the crew transferred our stuff. But aside from some old drawers that were nearly falling apart and a scuff on a bike, our stuff was intact and in the same condition. Our long-distance move included insurance, but I don't know how helpful it would've been, since you need to provide information about when you purchased the item when making a claim. Who keeps track of all that? Major kudos to Laura, the agent we talked to each time we called after the container incident. She really came through for us, and if it wasn't for her, our experience would've been a nightmare to navigate. In the end, all's well that ends well.

Foreman: Jesus and Jose…read more Extremely pleased with services. Moved locally from DTLA to Sawtelle area. No issues with furniture being damaged. Everything was wrapped in blankets/wraps appropriately. They also took apart my girlfriend's IKEA bedframe and put it back together for us in the new apartment. Everything went smoothly. They had extra boxes for us to purchase if needed.

Do Not Reccomend, be warned…read more I hired this company because of its strong reviews and was willing to pay more for a professional, efficient move. Unfortunately, my experience was the opposite. I paid about $1,650 before tip, roughly $1,800 total, and ended up with damaged furniture, a damaged wall, a broken TV stand, and an excessively long move. Two of the three movers appeared to speak almost no English, and the third spoke limited English and had to translate for the others. The issue was that the crew could not reliably understand or follow instructions. Several times I made specific requests and was told "OK, OK," only for the crew to continue doing exactly what I had asked them not to do. At one point I had to repeat myself about five times and finally stop them and insist they change the loading order. It should not require an argument to get movers to follow a clear instruction. I own expensive Stickley furniture and other high-end pieces and explicitly told the crew that several items needed exceptional care. I repeatedly asked for more padding and blankets because certain pieces were not adequately protected. On at least two occasions I specifically asked for another blanket, and the mover simply repositioned the existing blankets and kept wrapping. When the furniture was unwrapped, I found scuffs on leather, scratches and chips in wood, marks on my TVs, a broken leg on my nearly new TV stand, and damage to several other pieces. The problem seemed less like laziness and more like lack of experience, organization, and leadership. The time reinforces that concern. My previous move involved significantly more belongings, more preparation by the movers, and a destination about 30 minutes farther away. It also used three movers and was completed in about 5.5 hours, including double drive time. Based on that, I expected this smaller move to take about four hours, five at the absolute most. Instead, it took about eight. Everything except furniture was already packed, I had removed many fragile and awkward items myself, and I had reserved a loading area and dedicated elevator. Even so, individual trips between the apartment and truck were taking roughly 20 minutes despite the distance being only about 32 steps each way. I expected roughly $800-$1,000 plus tip. Instead, I paid about $1,650 plus tip. In my estimation, I paid at least $650-$800 more because of the crew's inefficiency and lack of experience. The most unacceptable incident involved damage to my old apartment. Near the end of the load-out, I found a substantial fresh gouge/chip next to an electrical outlet. I immediately brought it to the movers' attention, and they denied causing it. I had plugged my vacuum into that exact outlet and vacuumed the area no more than ten minutes earlier. The damage was not there then, and it was there after the movers worked there. Damage can happen during a move. What bothered me was being told something that repeatedly that, was plainly not credible. I contacted the company immediately and sent photos. I had to follow up repeatedly before being told the claims department would contact me. The following business day came and went without contact, leaving me to address the damage with my landlord. There was also an issue with the drive between locations. Before leaving, the lead mover and I compared Google Maps and both showed about 29 minutes. The truck then took a different route and arrived about 11 minutes later. Because the company charges double drive time, that effectively became about 22 billable minutes @ 200 per hour. The workers were personable and they did work. My criticism is that the company sent a crew that appeared inadequately trained, inadequately supervised, inefficient, unable to communicate effectively, and unable or unwilling to follow clear instructions regarding expensive property. I chose this company because its reviews made me believe paying a premium would buy professionalism, efficiency, and care. That is not what I received. I would not use this company again and cannot recommend them

I HATE moving but I have to say that the movers from Rhino Relocation were absolutely excellent!…read moreThey were right on time, careful, and they came equipt with every tool and supplies needed. They took no breaks despite a tremendous heatwave, and took time to not only wrap our things but unwrap them at our new house. They were so kind, careful, and it was the first time that we moved, that nothing was scratched or broken. I highly recommend them as it is hard to find 5 star movers! Choosing them was the BEST decision of our summer!

If you want to be ripped off, use this company…read more I had packed most of my boxes but there were a few things in the garage. I had almost 200 boxes. I was busy finishing things up in the house. Had I known I would have to keep an eye on them, it would have saved me a lot of money. Furniture arrived damaged and, in the end, there were boxes missing. Tags were missing on some of the boxes and others were inventoried incorrectly. An antique chair had a leg broken off. Because the legs were delicate I had reinforced them with 1x2 pieces of wood. When they arrived one of the legs had been broken off and taped with packing tape. Most of the furniture I'd disassembled and wrapped in stretch wrap. A couple of pieces hadn't been wrapped in the stretch wrap and they used packing tape directly on the furniture. It took the finish off where the tape had been placed. A lot of the furniture had damage to the corners and sides. Because I was inside I hadn't noticed they had packed shelves, fully assembled, and put them on the truck not utilizing the space on the shelves (thus eating up a lot of room and I was being charged by the foot). I opened boxes that they had packed only to find very large boxes that were half full. Again, using up more space on the truck. When they got to my new apartment they claimed they could not pull the moving truck into the alley. I had seen a moving truck there a week earlier. This meant they had to move things from the moving truck to a smaller truck (an additional $1,100). It was the end of the move and the person who was in charge of the move hurridly had me sign the contract with Rhino. He was loosely explaining things to me as I signed. "Oh this is the standard count, this is an explanation of the delivery, etc". I was tired and, admittedly, signed them. So they're covered. I'm missing a box that contained a firesafe and various other paperwork. Luckily I'd packed most of the truly important and valuable stuff in my car for the move. Between work and the bulk of the boxes that were shipped I am just now realizing the items missing because it has taken me a few weeks to unpack. The guys on this end were hard workers and I really appreciated their effort. In the end, the move that was originally quoated $12K turned into better than $17K. Oh, and they only take cash or money orders.
