I went to upstate bar and grill tonight with my family, and im not going to lie, I was impressed. I ordered a cheese burger, with mayo. and I have to say, the mayo was a little bit tangy for my liking.... but the overall look of the place was very nice. im an avid water drinker, and when I go out to eat, the waiters are NEVER at par for me... but our waitress Shauna was AWESOME!!! she made sure that my glass was always full with water, and with happiness. now personally, I like my water with no ice, but my friend who joined me for dinner, had her water with ice. and she said that almost every time she went to take a drink, she got smacked in the face with a clump of ice... now that does NOT sound good to me... the bathrooms.... if you've ever been to the Walton fair.... but overall i give 4 stars. it was a great time, 10/10 will come again!! read more

Quick summary. We both had Prime rib. My piece is terribly fatty. No hyperbole. 14 oz of which more than half was fat. Send it back. Manager says, "How do I know you did not combine your fat to make it seem like a lot." I'm like did this guy actually accuse me of trying to scam a free streak. It's comical. The service was Excellent! It is a Beautifully designed space with great lines. We also found the food to be Fantastic for lunch. We'll definitely be going back! We Had a woofderful takeout experience at Upstate yesterday! We ordered burgers, fries, chicken wings, calamari and nachos. All were delicious according to the hoomans, I drooled a whole lot watching them eat! I sat next to Grandma hoping for a bite of the steak from her couscous salad and she came through, she rocks... but don't tell the 'rents! 10 dog bones out of 10, would highly recommend to any other hoomans looking for a good dinner! read more

Open and airy place with multiple dining options including at the long bar, in the covered porch area (sometimes live music), outside with firepits or in the main dining room which is a bit echoey and loud but not too bad & themed to look like a barn with exposed wood and stones and cool decor. Large TV screens are omnipresent. Waitstaff was friendly from the moment we walked in and our waitress was exceptional - warm, welcoming and responsive. Enjoyed the beer menu & beers were very well poured (I.e., right to the rim). Menu has something for everyone (meat lover, vegetarian and gluten free), our food was very fresh, came quickly and portions were ample. They seem to really know how to cook steak - I had the red, black and blue salad with steak and it was a perfect medium rare. Paul got the turkey club - really good though without the extra bread in the middle (arrived on grilled Texas toast); it came with lots of mayo so get it on the side if you need. Fries were fine but not the best - kind of over spiced and seasoned - we would have expected a more hearty real potato fry (or at least the option for one). I never like to leave negative reviews, but feel I need to warn other visitors that may be considering this establishment. Never have I ever experienced such humiliation, disrespect and unprofessionalism specifically by the bartender when my group of 4 tried to dine here one evening while visiting Cooperstown. I understand the service workforce is extremely understaffed and overworked, and for that I have great respect and patience for anyone in the industry. But I could not be more insulted by and disappointed with the bartender this evening. I acknowledge it was peak time and hence why we decided to have some drinks while waiting to be seated for dinner, but for 25 minutes(!!!) this bartender kept passing us over to instead tend to other patrons (some several times!), looking us dead in the eye with a grin as she poured other drinks while saying "she'll be with us next" (she wasn't btw), stopping to make small talk with the couple RIGHT NEXT TO US (bragging that the "manager is hiding because he's afraid of her") and continuing to walk past to check on others who still had drinks. 25 minutes.....25.....before we finally got the hint she was playing this mocking game with no intention to serve us it felt, and walked out before being seated for food. Rest assured I will drive right past this place the next time I'm in Cooperstown and instead will go to any of the other eateries where the staff were beyond friendly and made it feel that they were more than happy to have us.. PS - while waiting, we saw some of the dishes coming out of the kitchen. Lord help the stomach of the person who ordered that grey steak. In hindsight it was a blessing this bartender convinced us to leave. read more

Really enjoyed our visit. Place runs like clockwork, staff and servers are very efficient. Our group of what turned out to be 16 came in three separate stints after our son's game at Dreams Park, and yet they were able to accommodate us and seat us all near one another. Build your own burger was good. Best burger I have had on a trip where I have eaten many burgers. Burgers gets 4 of 5 stars. Gyro sliders were awesome. 5 stars, on my top 5 gyros of all time. Fries and tater tots 3.5 stars. Not truly "steak fries", but good seasoning. Dessert cheesecake pretty good, but I don't believe they make it in house. Good draft beer selection, something for everyone. May eat here again before we leave Cooperstown. It's worth a repeat visit. read more

This location is not service dog friendly. The owner immediately questioned the validity of my service dog , once that happened I left that location. I was so appalled at his interrogation! Lunch with my wife, Drinks were way over priced, we paid nine dollars for a shot. Left with a bill well over $125 for a basic lunch. Completely unacceptable. Apparently we got the out of towner prices. I understand that prices go up because of Covid and the fallout with supply and demand but this is over the top. Won't be back. read more

I ate here last year and couldn't wait to come back ! It didn't disappoint! The Ahi Tuna Nachos are to die for. If you like wings, you'll love the Alabama White and also The Blues. The Alabama White Sauce is mayo and horseradish base sauce. The Blues are smothered in a delicious blue cheese sauce with Buffalo sauce for dipping. I also had Hangover Burger (without bacon), seriously one of my favorite burgers ever ! The wife and I also had the Ahi and shrimp tacos. When you go, ask for either Alec or Jessica. The worst rudest & racist hostess & manager.. horrible attitude the moment we walked in and didn't stop there. She didn't give a moment to care about the elderly customer that almost slipped by the door by the puddle of water. Said "there's nothing I can do about that" in the rudest tone of voice. Then proceeds to indirectly complain that we needed one more chair. If you don't like your damn job and the wide variety of ethnic people who come in then find another damn job idiot cause you're in the wrong business.. managers attitude was just as bad. read more

Went to Upstate on a recommendation from the nurses at Bassett Medical to get the Hangover burger. Probably one of the BEST BURGERS I'VE EVER HAD!!! So why the 3 star rating? Service literally sucked!! The burger came out 2 patties thick, a fried egg on top, and some crispy (key) tater tots and as a bonus they had malt vinegar in the condiment holder!! The burger comes with pearl onions and an aioli, but I scrapped that and got LTO pickles and mayo!! I am telling you this burger was unfreakin real!! So good. I wish I still had some in my beard as I got a little messy eating it. I got a Slop Juice IPA to wash it down and was literally in heaven. The service that night was less than stellar. 2 girls behind the bar that seated about 20. My server never smiled, took forever to take my order, took even longer to get me a second beer and was just awful. This was Friday. I dreamed about that burger for 2 nights and went back last night to get it again. Upon entering the bar area I noticed it was less packed than Friday so I started drooling thinking I'd have that burger soon. I walked up to the bar and wanted to sip a Slop Juice and watch the Yankees (lose), and there I stood...at least 10 minutes went by. There was one bartender taking care of 16 patrons and HE WAS SLOW. Like sloth slow. After he got everyone sitting a drink (most were beers/some bottles some drafts) he just kept walking by me so I waved my arms and asked if I could get a beer. After rolling his eyes and giving me some attitude he poured me one. Then proceeded to tell me how busy he was and asked if I seen him pour the drinks he was slingin. Needless to say I'll never go back to that place again and will dream about the Hangover burger until I die!!! read more

The food was great! I had the Cubano sandwich and my wife had the wings. Much better food then the Redneck BBQ by leaps and bounds. The major drawback with this place was the staff would divide the check up between the families in our party. We were 3 families paying separately and the staff said the owner doesn't allow for splitting the check, so we spent 10 minutes dividing up the $350 bill. Not a fun way to end a meal when you are full and just want to pay and get out. Owners, not cool. Make it easy for the customer, not easier for you. Amazing! Wings and hangover burger was one of the best I've had. Great atmosphere, definitely recommend it.

I did some research prior to coming into town for a nice place for my bf and friend to have dinner and I came across this location. And boy, I am sure glad I did! We al enjoyed everything. My only upset is that the little portion of steamed clams you got for 13 dollars. They were amazing but i feel like there should have been much more. Service was great. Food was great. Walking in the hostess should've set my alarms off that I was not going to have a good experience here. Standoffish and unwelcoming. The server came in for our drink order and she was nicer than the hostess at first. Now for our food order I understand if asking for something not on the menu would be ridiculous but asking if I can have bbq sauce with Buffalo shouldn't be a challenge especially if you're charging 15$ for 7 wings like come on now. At least give an alternative idea of sauce on the side. No attitude given cause like i said i understand. But that wasn't the thing that ticked me off. Cooperstown is a baseball town right? It's known for its deep roots in the sport right? The World Baseball Classic was playing and there were no TVs playing it, they were playing ESPN basketball I believe, on 4 separate TVs. I asked the waitress if there was any way we can turn one of the tvs to the world baseball classic and told her the channel it'd be on. She said "oh yes, yes let me tell them to put it on." That was the last time we talked about that, she came by later to bring our apps, then to take our dinner order, then bring our dinner, cleaning off our table, and giving us our checks. It wasn't busy. The food was okay. It just kind of sucked the fun experience out of me as a first time visitor of this town and will never go there again. And warn all of those with my experience. But aesthetically it does look cool, it was the reason why I picked going there, that and the menu options. But I'd rather go to an Applebees or get hit by my step dad then ever setting my foot through those doors again. read more

I ordered the Bacon Maple Bourbon burger. I was the best burger I ever had. I wish I live close by. My husband ordered the hangover burger and he loved it. Definitely will go back if we are in the Cooperstown area. I like to try local local beers, especially on tap, but I was not able to. Only non IPAs on tap were Sella and Guinness. Beside those two the rest of the beers were IPAs. I do not like IPAs. This was a bit disappointing. Our waitress was great. Food was served fast. read more

Stopped in while visiting Cooperstown. Everything was truly amazing. Had to wait about 20 minutes for a table so we grabbed a drink at the bar. Service was friendly and quick. Once we got to our table, the waitress immediately greeted us. We ordered our appetizers- wings, calamari, pretzels and clam chowder. Everything was delicious. For our meals, we got the Delmonico, ribs, Buffalo flatbread, and the maple bacon burger. Everyone really enjoyed their meals. I cannot express how good the Delmonico was. It's only available starting at 5 as they need to give it time to cook during the day. The seasoning, tenderness, all of it was simply incredible. We came here in the off-season and I have to imagine it gets crowded when it's peak season. But it's worth the wait if you have to wait. Lots of TVs set up and a big open feel gives for a great place to hang out and grab a meal with friends, family or teammates. I've been here 3 times already, but they have decreased in Quality so much. First time, the wings and steak were incredible. But then they started to increase the prices, and the quality dropped. We went yesterday, my gf and I. $15 for 7 wings, instead of $11 for 10 wings like usual. They increased prices and decreased the portions. Not to mention, the wings tasted like catfood and pork. We went last night, and the steaks, which used to be $23 went to $33. My gf and I have had nothing but stomach pain and liquid bowel movements all night and this morning. I don't recommend this place anymore. I would have in February, but not anymore. Check out Sloans in Oneonta. Way better prices and taste :) read more

We came here on 2 separate nights while our team was playing in the Cooperstown tournament...On both occasions they were able to seat "all" (25-30)of us in the area where they had the roll up garage doors...Very cool!...They do split the checks by table!...Great value for your money!...We ordered a wide range of the appetizers...Wings, nachos etc...All very good!... Call 10 to 15 minutes before arriving and they will do there best to accommodate!...No reservations! I had a decent visit here. Went on a Saturday for lunch and was immediately impressed with the space. It was very beautiful and high end. There weren't too many other dinners and we were seated quickly. I did notice they were only using half the dining room - so I felt like it was s little cramped. There wasn't enough background noise and the tables felt close together so there didn't seem to be much privacy. Not a deal breaker but just a heads up. I ordered the eggs Benedict and my friend got a buffalo chicken wrap. Both were good and reasonably priced, though a little under seasoned. It did take a long time for our food to come out but we weren't in a hurry. I'd go back and try some of the fancier items! read more

My Friends and I went to the Upstate Bar and Grill on February 10, 2018 when we were in Cooperstown for their annual Winter Carnival. My wife and I own a summer place on the lake but hadn't been to this place since it opened last year. We had 8 people in our group and the place was able to seat us quickly (Cooperstown isn't all that busy in February). The ambiance is rustic and has a warm feel. We loved the decor and the overall setup. Many in the party ordered the prime rib and a few of us had the Ribs. The ribs were fantastic and I definitely recommend them. The irony is as we were ordering I was reading other reviews of this place and saw people were complaining about how thin the Prime rib was. Let me tell you, either those people are crazy or this place changed since those reviews as the prime rib meals my group received were huge! Many of us had craft beers which they have a large selection and I recommend the Red Shed which is made locally. Overall Service was spot on. Very friendly, seemed to always be there at just the right time, drinks were quick including refills, and the manager even checked in with us. There was no pressure to leave and we were all made to feel very comfortable. There are not a lot of really good restaurants in the immediate Cooperstown area but I would put this one in my top 3 no problem. My wife and I are looking forward to coming back. Thanks! read more
