I have passed by this store almost everyday since I moved to Torrance and never ventured in. Big mistake on my part! So many different styles in one place and such nice people working there. Whether you're trendy,preppy,punk or an old goth like me you'll find a variety of clothing at great prices. Purchasing pre owned clothing is a great way to do your part and take care of the earth. Cheap unethical fashion is clogging up our landfills this is an ethical way to find great styles. Everything from new to vintage clothes. read more

They do not wash the clothes that come in . I would never recommend to come there I really want to apologize to people who have bought from here. Is is very disgusting at this point. I went to try and sell some clothing. I understand the business model is to offer the seller a low amount and in turn re-sell the clothing to the customer at a low price while still making a profit. This is a good place to go if you want to get rid of some of your unwanted clothing hassle free and get a little cash out of it or exchange for other items more in line with what you want in your wardrobe. Personally, based on the cash offered I would rather donate the clothes or spend the extra hour listing on Poshmark. If you are like me don't waste the drive. For reference they offered me $50 cash for like 12 or 13 items. These items consisted of really good or like new condition free people sweaters, lululemon leggings, BDG/Urban jeans, Millau/LF Stores sweater, Madewell, Lulu's, Zara. You get a little higher offer if you opt for store credit instead of cash (~30% more). They are quick to get your clothing out of sight and don't display it when they make an offer. I had to ask what items the offer included and they were quickly displayed and then moved out of sight again. read more

Best place ever! The staff and owner are extremely friendly. I just stumbled on this blessing sitting at the light on Hawthorne & Emerald. Hard to see from busy street (have no idea why I've never seen before) but the best kept Torrance secret. Go now and enjoy! read more

Today was my second visit to the Hawthorne blvd Cheapskate store. I had a seamless experience working with their staff who checked me in, processed my items, showed me which they weee going to be able to buy, handed me my cash (whoo hoo!!) and I was on my way. I did t have any plans to donate the rest this time. FYI they cannot keep the rest for donations if their bins are already full before end of business day in which they are to be emptied. (I wasn't planning to leave my stuff behind this time anyway, so that worked out ;). Thank you, can't wait to come again!! read more

Rude Manager. Low Ball Offers. Rude and Snappy Manager. They buy your clothes and give you an extremely cheap cash offer (as said in many other reviews, BELIEVE EM) and get snappy when you ask questions. You can bring in High QUALITY, NAME BRAND, VINTAGE items, and they'll offer you pennies. Definitely wouldn't come back to this location. Better off selling it yourself on Offer Up or anything else. They're just going to turn around and sell it for 2x what they bought it for. If you're gonna offer so low of a price, might as well be nice about it. Can't imagine getting premature wrinkles over a question... but to all their own. Your brain, your choice. read more

Alisa is very rude. Wouldn't come back to this location because of the way she treated me. I came with my best friend to sell and we both had separate items to sell. I am disabled so she was helping me carry in the items which Alisa then saw and proceeded to follow me out of the store (while on the phone) to tell me it's only 2 bags per group. Which made my best friend who drove me to sell unable to sell her items. The reason why was it was "unfair to others to have to wait" when there was no one waiting and it was only a bag more than what they looked at. I can understand 2 bags per person but she told us 2 bags per group because she assumed it was all the same person selling and was literally speaking down to us as she was telling us this. I've been to multiple locations of Uptown over the years and none have ever treated me so rudely. I feel bad for the employees working for her. Edit to respond: We have sold at multiple of your competitors at none of them limit the selling to 2 bags nor have an issue of quality control while going through the bags. We normally don't have any problem selling unlike with you! We can normally just do it under one person (I normally sign us in because I'm disabled and she is the one that brings in the bags) because it's easier. You were rude, and there was no reason for it. Also you said 2 bags per group rule and now you are saying it's 2 bags and 1 accessory bag? read more

Just went to sell clothes they took 7 items from me and gave me 30$ including 2 real purses from coach coming to approximately 4 dollars per item I would've asked my my stuff back if I knew what they took while in the store but I had to check in the car and then when they gave my my clothes everything was a mess when I brought in everything neatly folded. I am all about thrifting clothing, not just to save money but because I truly believe in sustainable living. I've shopped here before and have appreciated the shopping experience, but I'm here to review the selling experience I had. The person who helped me was very clear about the selling policies and I understood going out of the gate that a lot of my clothing was probably not going to be taken because I don't fit the profile of their target customer, despite my having shopped there before and found things I like and wear often. Long story short, NONE of the pieces I brought in were taken, which is fine, but the last thing that was said to me as I was heading for the door with my clothing was "You're good, hun. I've seen a lot worse." Again, I'm not the target customer but as I was perusing the aisles I did see some pieces that were similar in vibe to some of the things I brought, so to have none of my pieces taken was already a take-down, but adding insult to injury by saying "I've seen a lot worse" was pretty harsh, actually rude and even humiliating coming from someone young enough to be my daughter. Everything I brought in was clean and in very good or new condition, no stains and some with tags still attached. Even though they didn't feel anything fit the profile, none of it was "bad" to warrant a comment like that. None of my pieces were bad, they just weren't a fit for the store and I think that final comment could have been left off. I don't deny they provide a valuable and needed service. They just weren't very kind to this Gen Xer. Now that I know how they perceive me, I am not likely to be back. read more

I was looking for a new thrift/consignment store in the South Bay and found this little gem on Yelp :) My first visit was during their winter clearance, so I got A TON of items for work for literally $30 (50% of EVERYTHING). My second time was just as amazing, finding new things for spring. (I paid about the same as my first visit thanks to some clearance prices). I recently went to find items for a trip to Mexico and was pleased AGAIN to find sooooo many cute and stylish items (some are pictured). I like that this store has a vast selection of items and is well organized (they've recently transitioned to spring/summer apparel). It also has a great selection of men's apparel. Every visit, I've been greeted and helped by really nice staff and found nice name brand items. I always appreciate their stylish selection that doesn't break my bank account. I can't speak for the experience of selling items, but I'm grateful to those sellers :) This is my new fave! read more
