Nice that even Saturday had an abundance of great happy hour options, although the sashimi flight of five small pieces of sashimi at $20, as good as it tasted and looked, seemed more like "normal hour" pricing rather than anything "happy". For reference, the Little Katana happy hour sashimi appetizer is 7+ larger, fresh pieces INCLUDING a beer or wine for $15. When I asked how many pieces it included when I ordered it, the waitress didn't seem to know, mentioning anywhere from 5 to 10 pieces. I'd probably not order this option on return visits. The other items tried were all very good and reasonably priced. Their take on the margarita was also tasty and really didn't stray much in taste from a typical spicy margarita. Aside from not knowing menu details, the service provided was otherwise very good and efficient. Drinks, however, took longer than expected to arrive, showing up after some of the food items had already been served. That may have been more of a bar issue than the servers. Ambiance is great. Found this place while trailing on business the atmosphere inside was very sleek and elegant, there trying to be high-end dim sum and sushi place, but falling short especially with the pricing, overpriced, overpriced, overpriced, and SMALL portions. Their service is fantastic and the manager was quite the most professional ,he should be at a higher end restaurant with that type of service that he provided. Incredible experience! We pass by this place all the time and never stop! Well, last night we bit the proverbial apple and chose the restaurant for dinner! Honestly, the food tasted super fresh and had lots of flavor! Some of the winners from the night: - Negi Tuna (a special) - Geisha (riceless roll) - Shrimp & Lobster Shumai While everything was delicious, the three items above were beyond! The Negi Tuna had Tuna Toro and that's one of my favorite cuts of the fish; it also had sesame seeds and brown rice which all added to the buttery flavor! Generally, I'm a roll WITH RICE kind of gal; however, the Geisha blew me out of the water! So fresh and refreshing! Not a single off putting fish-y flavor. Then, the Shrimp & Lobster Shumai was filled with meat and the dough had that special homemade consistency! You really can't go wrong with anything we ordered...the only thing the group decided we would not order again is the Big Sister (which is unfortunate because I am a big sister). When I read it on the menu, I did not want it, but the people I was with thought it sounded yummy. All in all it was an incredible experience! We did not have to wait more than 2 minutes to be seated on a Saturday night. The service was speedy and Bishop did a great job balancing all his tables and our three rounds of food. I thought it was ok but my wife didn't enjoy the food. She's Chinese and we have been enjoying so much spectacular Asian cooking in the north Dallas's area that this place came across as not authentic and seasoned for American tastes. The restaurant is somewhat spacious and loved the outdoor sitting area. For food, we ordered the Onesan Sashimi, Ocean's Eleven Roll, Shrimp and Lobster Shumai, and Crispy Korean Fried Chicken. I did not like any of the food... First, the Onesan Sashimi had a super strong yuzu soy taste that I can barely taste the yellowtail itself, Ocean's Eleven Roll was tiny and sauce was super acidic and did not taste like spicy ponzu sauce but more like cho gochujang, Shrimp and Lobster Shumai was dry and personally to me, I did not like the combo with the lobster uni curry, and lastly the Crispy Korean Fried Chicken tasted so-so. But what threw me off was that it was under the "dim-sum" category but why would they do that if it's not really dimsum.. We are sushi snobs, it has to be fresh. And creative. I like uchi, I like Shinshei, but this is my favorite. The Japanese Snapper nigiri with lime salt and an herb leaf is terrific. The salmon and yellowtail are always fresh and flavorful. But the must try is the habane roll. And their cooked food is equally good. The tempura green beans. The bao bao buns. The dumplings. And the noodles with beef. Also has great cocktails and fun bar area. We go here more than anywhere, for a reason. read more

I'm officially mad at myself for only trying this place out for the first time last night, it's great!! I love the seating. I'm a booth person and there are a ton. Then we get to the menu. Hidden gem in Dallas. Very awesome atmosphere and beautiful restaurant inside. Very good for a date night. The spicy edamame to start is salted and tasted awesome. It's not super spicy. The geisha roll is very fresh. Wrapped in cucumber with a delicious ponzu sauce. It is very light. The big sister roll is so so so good. It has shrimp and yellowtail with red onion and avocado and it is honestly my favorite roll. (You have to try this one). The Serrano ponzu is addicting. I tried the salmon poke bowl and I added cilantro and jalapeños to it and it's really fresh and really filling. I honestly recommend it as well. Very good! Overall, the experience was five stars. What a great sushi and dim sum restaurant. We went with a few friends on their recommendation (and it already has great Yelp reviews), and we loved it. Some nice signature cocktails and a decent wine list, and of course a full bar that can accommodate anything that you need. The menu is significant with plenty of sashimi, rolls, and dim sum options. Most of them have some kind of signature twist related to the area. Of course they have the traditional sushi rolls, but they also have lots of unique items like the Preston Hollow roll and the Onesan shashimi. Give those a try, because they are excellent. I really wanted to like Onesan more than I did but it fell short. The decor was nice. Its a fairly small place. I met up with a friend and was sat next to a row of tables. I was given the seat along the wall. I am not a big person but it was very difficult to get into my seat without bumping into our neighbor's table. Once I sat, both couples on each side commented that the tables were too close together. We joked for a bit and then moved on to viewing the menu. My friend ordered a glass of wine and I went with the Death over Dishonor. I really enjoyed my drink. It had a cinnamon aftertaste. Our server, Jocelyn, was very friendly and gave recommendations on menu items. Since there were only 2 of us, she suggested we order 3 to 5 items to share. Some of the plates were actually too small to share so I think we may have ended up with more. We ordered the sea salted edamame, short rib snow shovel, and hot & sour beef dumplings to start. The edamame was fine. My friend enjoyed the beef starters. The dumplings had a small kick due to the red pepper flakes in them but still enjoyable. We next got the pressed tuna tower and glazed ribs. The tuna tower was actually pretty good. The glazed ribs could have been much better. They were pretty tough so a little overcooked. Overall, the food was ok. I also think the service could have been better. Jocelyn was very nice but she hardly checked on us. A little disappointed by this place! The service was good, but the quality for the price was not worth it in our opinion. The salmon on the salmon heaven roll was noticeably fishy, and as the cheapest roll at $18 we were a little bummed. The big sister roll was delicious and refreshing, but not worth $21 on its own. If you want tasty sushi, this is the place to go. Small interior, but that just makes it cozy. They do have a patio and a nice bar, but none of that matters because the food is just so good. We walked in at 7:30 pm on a Sunday evening with no reservations. There were plenty of tables available in the restaurant and on the patio. We were told that the wait staff was "behind" and could not accommodate us anywhere but the bar. Well...the bar staff was also overwhelmed. We didn't get water until we'd been there almost 15 minutes, even though we were sitting right there in front of them. Our food arrived before we even had plates brought to us. Getting the bartenders' attention to place orders, get the check, etc. was a project even though, again, we were right there in front of them. I understand staffing is tough these days...but still... FOOD REVIEWS: Thai chicken dumplings = I could eat these every day. OMG. SO GOOD. Nigiri = salmon was yum (isn't it always?), yellowtail was very nice. They were out of the snapper. Char sui glazed ribs = nothing special; would not order again. Steamed buns = they were out. Duke Roll = somehow missed that this was rice-free. I think a rice version would be bomb. Didn't love it with the daikon wrapper and "spicy" sauce (which actually was more sweet than spicy). SIDE NOTE: My partner started feeling nauseous after dinner (and all he had to drink was one cocktail and one light beer). I had nausea and diarrhea the next day (and I didn't have any alcohol that evening). TMI? Sorry. Just trying to share the full experience so that you can make an informed decision. One of the owners is a piece of work. The frat boy style investment system patronizes customers when it's not to their liking. Seems like there's many investors that claim ownership to use to their advantage (ie their own bar tab) and if you're not a part of their alumni group, your contribution to the success of this restaurant is invaluable. I spent a lot of money here on dinner, promoted the business via my personal social media pages, recruited new customers that I brought with me and paid for ....to have the owners buddy berate me due to my personal views.
