We have a home that was built in the early '90s. Crazy to say that was a long time ago--boy, am I getting old. One late Saturday afternoon, I opened the garage and came back inside. When the garage door closed, it made a very odd clanking and rattling noise as it slammed shut. It turns out one of the springs snapped from repetitive use and general wear and tear. The problem now is that the garage door will not open or close without some major assistance from yours truly. Lol. So I sought out a garage repair man who could make it out at the earliest timeslot. Guy at Urban Garage Door was actually my first call at Urban Garage Door Repair Services. He asked some very specific questions regarding the garage door, made a quick assessment over the phone, and scheduled me for the next day early in the morning at 7:30 AM--on a Sunday. Crazy how fast he was able to make it out, and I was very appreciative of that. He arrived exactly on time, with a text message 30 minutes prior to let me know he was on his way. This is very professional and appreciated, because who doesn't want an update--especially on an early Sunday morning while you're making breakfast for the kids? He got here, was very professional, made a quick physical assessment of the situation, and gave me a finalized estimate in person. The estimate he gave me on the phone was very accurate and matched very closely with the in-person assessment. He made quick work of the situation and took care of the broken springs in no time. He also let me watch and explained the process to me as he was repairing the garage door. This was simply awesome. Now, I'm not going to go ahead and repair a garage door myself, but it was nice to have a clear and concise explanation of what he was doing and his rationale. It was quite enlightening and educational at the same time. YouTube, here I come--maybe with a bit fewer fingers. Lol. This review is getting quite a bit long-winded, but I was extremely satisfied with the service and will be using him in the future for my garage door-related needs. Scam scam scam. Charged me over $300 almost $350 and just recalibrated the coil springs. I was uneducated about how to fix the garage and they took advantage of that. My garage still does not open or close with the motor. I was forced into paying because he worked without my consent. The guy was rude as well. And then he told me without the company he would do it for cheaper so he said he will come tomorrow to do the rest and to pay him under the table. The guys name was Or. Update: They refunded me. The technician came the day after I called about my garage door jamming, due to using a termite spray in the garage that consisted of fine silica dust. The technician quickly replaced and adjusted the damaged belt drive, which saved me the cost of replacing the underpowered motor. When I then had trouble with the remote operator, he was able to figure out that the problem was due to me replacing the motor light bulb with a new, brighter LED bulb before the repairs were done. He gave me a lot of advice on how to avoid trouble with my opener, which is something I never got from any other company. read more

Asked for a service on my spring that they installed about a year ago because it was already losing tension ($650). My garage door still worked, but the door was too heavy and it was stressing the motor. The tech immediately tried to upsell me on a new garage door opener and told me mine was no good, even though it is only 2 years old. Within minutes the tech yanked down on the cord to disengage the garage door opener so aggressively that it snapped a part of the inner assembly (pictured). I was confused why he even needed to yank down on the cord, as there is a button for that, but he didn't know or care to ask. My garage door opener was now broken and the tech directed me to the vendor who installed the door. Concerned, I contacted Urban Garage Door to send out a manager because now I have a weak spring and a broken garage door opener. They sent out another tech, but it was just to protect themselves and they declined to take accountability. Since we were at an impasse, I let him know he could leave so we wouldn't waste each other's time. I opened the garage door opener and discovered the damaged assembly, which prevented the door from re-engaging with the motor. Again, my door worked before, so this could not have been broken yet. I messaged Urban Garage Door with pictures of both the inside of the garage door opener and the newly broken piece of the assembly. Then I got a passive-aggressive text that I should be grateful that Urban Garage Door didn't charge me and accused me of "kicking out" the tech. To be clear, no services were provided and my property was damaged as a result of their action. Had to have another professional come out to inform me that the reason I was already losing spring tension is because Urban Garage Door installed the wrong type of spring last year.
