3.5 stars Urban Kitchen has a casual, sports bar vibe with multiple TV screens and beer on tap. Their menu, however, featured a surprising selection of creative Indian fusion dishes! From their Specials menu section, I tried the Chicken Kebab Plate, which came with spiced chicken grilled to juicy perfection with peppers and onions, and served with a simple salad (lettuce, tomatoes, chickpeas), mint cilantro, and a chewy garlic naan on the side. I also had their Curry Plate, which came with a bowl of tikka masala with paneer, along with salad and garlic naan on the side. Disappointingly, the curry was nothing more than a thick tomato soup with barely a hint of spice. This would definitely not be the place to come for authentic Indian eats, but perhaps some of their more creative menu options would have been more memorable. The service was also surprisingly slow for a simple counter-service restaurant.

The food is always on point! They have a bunch of "Indian fusion" items and they are all very flavourful! The drinks are strong and delicious! The motichoor dessert was excellent! The servers are always nice and friendly and help choosing the right dish :) there's tons of parking outside and have huge tvs playing all kinds of games for the Sports Bar feels :)

MY FIRST LOVE is SOYA CHAAP and this was the first place where I had my first in the bay! Such a cool bar vibes with the much-needed indian touch. This place is bustling on weekends but I'd say worth the wait given how delicious the food is!!

My family and I have been meaning to try this place and we are so happy we got the chance to eat here! It was a really cool sports bar vibe with some interesting hip hop Bollywood or South Asian type music (not really sure, but it was really cool). We ended up ordering: -Chicken Quesadilla which was so delicious! They were juicy pieces of chicken, spicy jalapeños, onions, and served with a creamy sauce. This is actually exactly how I like to make these at home, but these were better than what I usually make. The only thing I would want to change would be to make the sauce spicier. -Butter Chicken Sliders was better than we expected! We expected it to be good, but it was even better! It was juicy, crispy, and the perfect balance of butter chicken sauce to bun ratio. -Chicken Finger Kids meal was a regular kids meal, nothing special, but it came with a really big portion of chicken and fries which was awesome! We really loved this place and it also served alcohol which made it even better!

I wish there was more naan so i could dip it in the sauce. Tandoori soya chaap -5/5 delicious! It has a creamy, nutty flavor and the texture was really nice. TLDR : Great concept, nice fusion food options and drink selections, good taste and ambiance Tried the Urban Kitchen and as it came highly recommended by friends. Really loved their take at a bar setting combing the Indian food and beverage offerings. We had tried the soya chaaps earlier and really one of my favorites in the bay. This time we tried their Kulchas and Noodle Burgers. The kulchas were good - not the best I've had and chola could've been more spicy and flavorful. The noodle burgers - veggie and chicken were good. Nice combination which we were skeptical off but turned out nice.

Ordered the veggie aloo tikki burger, badam milk, Tandoori Soya Chaap & Rumali Roti -- all were excellent! It was my first time trying chaap, and I highly recommend it! The burger was super flavorful and perfectly made. I thought it came with fries, but that was my mistake. The badam milk was freshly made in small batches, sealed and labeled, with real almond bits. It had a natural taste and just the right amount of sweetness--not overly sugary like the commercial ones. Looking forward to trying more from their menu.

Almond milk is pricey but worth it. I called in and placed the order not realizing that you can order the meal or just the entree. Expecting a meal I called and let them know that I was missing rice, salad....Person who picked up the phone explained that the order placed was an entree and offered to compensate me for the mix up. Staff should ask when taking calls if the order is for a meal or entree only. Overall customer service, management are 5 stars, food 4 read more

New place serving infused Indian food. My Fiance had the Chicken Salad and I had the Chicken Kabob plate. Both were really good. Their Masala sauce is great. Also their Mango Lassi is very good and light. I wish they had fresh Naan. Their Naan is ok but nothing like the real Naan outta the oven. We will be back again. read more

This was my first visit to Urban Kitchen. I ordered the Tangri kabab and it was really flavorful and tender and nicely cooked. It came with fries and dal. The dal could be a little less spicy. We ordered the chicken tikka masala which came with rice and naan. The curry was flavorful and naan was soft and nice. The chicken kati roll was also decent. Try their Desi fried chicken. Juicy, spicy and fried to perfection. Finger licking good. I've also tried their kathi rolls and soya chaap. Kathi rolls are as authentic as they get. My wife who lived in Delhi for s while claims the same for their soya chaap. Overall, this place is slowly becoming my staple takeout place in Newark. read more

I liked this place when it first opened. Lately, the quality of the good has went down drastically. I've purchased food before and my veggie patties was burnt. How? I gave them another chance with the lettuce wrap burger. When I brought it home it was a mess. I wish I had the pictures to show it. It wasn't edible. The final last straw was when I purchased a veggie burger where I found 4 long pieces of hair. I was so disgusted. I went back in to tell the owner, he gave me a refund. Please, go back to basics when this establishment first opened. read more

Let me start with, I'm not a big fan of Indian food. I wanted to give it a chance and try something different. I ordered through DoorDash, I ordered the tandoori chicken burger for myself and the palak chicken curry plate for boyfriend. Ordered the loaded fries and masala fried. Everything was soooo good ! Whoops I've never posted a review of this place. Urban Kitchen is really good fusion spot. A variety of different foods and drinks from around the world with their own touch. had their paneer bowl with chick pea which you don't get at any other Indian restaurant. It's seasoned well and topped with some lettuce. My son usually has lab tacos and my husband loves their avocado chaat with naan. Kind of tucked away in the Safeway parking lot. read more

They have amazing menu consisting of Indian fusion food. Their tikka burritos are amazing. We also tried their tacos, soya chap which were very good. While the food is decent, I think it's unfortunate that they do not wish to honor their Groupons. When the pandemic first started, I wanted to use my Groupon (only $15 value) to purchase $40 worth of food to help support small businesses. They declined to accept the Groupon, stating that it's for dine-in only (even though the Groupon itself did not specify the condition AND it was in the beginning of the pandemic and there were no indoor or outdoor dining available). Ok. I get it. I paid for my food and gave full tip for my take out. Today, I tried going for outdoor dining. Upon learning that I want to use my soon-to-expire Groupon, the cashier stated that it'll be an hour wait for food because, despite the fact that there were only one table dining inside and one person waiting for take-out, they have sooooo many pending orders already. This is a bit difficult for me to believe, so I left for a better lunch spot in the area. Anyways, Urban Kitchen obviously have enough support that they won't be missing a customer. I will be filing for a refund with Groupon and go support another small business. read more

Our first time here and the front of house were polite and friendly. This place has an interesting take on Indian fusion food. They were kind enough to make a dish which was not on their menu yet (Indian street sliders which is on their new menu). Naan tacos were juicy and saucy with the right amount of spice. Went to urban kitchen for the first time on Saturday night and it was so good that I had to come back on Sunday. Just got done polishing off a variety of very delicious Indian fare. For 5 of us we ordered the chicken tikka burger combo, lamb Kathi roll combo, paneer rice bowl, chicken kebab plate, lamb tacos and loaded fries. I tried a little bit of everything and it was so flavour full. The kids really enjoyed their food. We will definitely be going back for more. read more

Given the all the great reviews was excited to try this new place. But boy! What a bummer. Party of 4 we ordered bunch of items from the menu - chicken sliders, sliders trios, curry bowl, Kati role. Everything tasted meh and was either under seasoned or over seasoned. The sliders buns were burnt. The only reason for the 2 stars - the guy behind the counter offered to replace sliders order but we all lost the appetite and interest by then (you know what I mean!). read more

Love the place. Real good god. Real nice people. The man who owns the business is. Fun at heart avidly experienced bartender. Went in on a long weekend Saturday night, love the location. The owner is very humble down to earth to gentleman!! He recommended me trying the Chicken tacos and the samosas!! The food is great but let them know if you want it spicy or not... The owner was a gentleman and came checked up on me and made sure I was satisfied since I was first time customer. Ordered the below: 1) tandoori soya chaap- was decent. 2) Vegetarian manchuria burger: was full of red food color, i washed my hands twice but still could find color on my fingers.
