I'm usually what people say a "gym bro cook". I cook my protein, my veggies, and throw in my carbs. Honestly, my cooking is pretty bland and boring. But omg, my cooking tastes way better than the food here. I already came here not expecting much, but I was surprised how much worse it actually was. The broccoli and brussel sprouts both tasted like 95% lemon and 5% veggie. The steak with chimichurri sauce had very little sauce. Steak itself was pretty unseasoned and half portion. And that sea bass just looks inedible lol. Fries were good though. Don't know how you could mess that up. read more

Their food is usually good and so is the service, but today I witnessed an event that made me question whether I should continue ordering from this restaurant. One of the kitchen staff was preparing my order for takeout, and as he was chatting with his coworkers, he dropped the lid on the floor and proceeded to use that same lid to package my food. Thankfully I was there when it happened and told them to remake it, but had I not, they would've served dirty containers to me--and potentially to other customers. Not sure if Kenton/manager was there, but I wouldn't feel comfortable ordering from this location again. What's even more concerning is that the servers in the front admitted that they saw it but didn't say anything. Who knows what other things they've done (or will continue to do) in the kitchen when Kenton isn't there. If it wasn't for this incident, this place deserves a solid 3.5 stars (consistency, attention to detail, and portion sizes could be better). read more

My friend and I decided to get to go, glad to see all employees wearing masks and outdoor dining only. I got the ahi plate with Brussel sprouts and roasted beets+carrots on the side ($14.01). Although fairly busy, my order came in 10 minutes. The ahi was fresh, and light in seasoning and well seared. The Brussel sprouts and beets+carrot was a little oily, but flavor was great! Wish there was more of the turkey bacon in the Brussel sprouts since I didn't taste a lot of it. Overall, meal is very filling for the price! Hands down, some of the best chicken tenders I've ever had. Sorry Raising Cane's, but Urban's Plate's chicken was both tender AND moist. Delicious. They do have a bit of a kick to them, even if you get the not hot ones, so beware, but dang - it was was worth it. The grass-fed was also delicious for a place that could have served Denny's type steak but didn't. The sides were plentiful and also very good. The service was a little above average for places that bring out your food (they give you a number for the table after placing your order a the counter). We loved eating outside. Expect to pay about $20/person if you get a drink, but it's worth every penny. read more

I've been coming to this UP since it first opened back in like 2013-2014, and almost a decade later, it's still one of the places I always drop by for a hearty meal. I will admit, the prices have rose and portion sizes are not as generous, but the quality of the food is always top-tier. My usual order is the grass-fed steak plate with macaroni & cheese + rainbow carrots and golden beets (sometimes I'll sub in mashed potatoes or get a beet salad). When I recently went, the steak had a nice medium-rare texture, the mac was creamy and rich, and the carrots/beets had a nice glaze. I also love the desserts that UP has because they're like hidden gems, particularly the flourless chocolate cake, mango tart, and the hummingbird cake. The hummingbird cake especially is superb, everything from the cream cheese frosting to the pineapple and walnuts. As for the restaurant itself, I usually get to-go now, but I've always loved the big rustic interior and service is always nice. read more

My friends and I came here on a Wednesday during our lunch break. The layout of the parking stalls were a bit odd at this location, but there should be ample spots. My friends opted to order at the counter while I found an open table and placed my order on their mobile app. I ordered their chimichurri grass fed steak plate with sesame broccolini and beet salad with goat cheese as my 2 sides. It would turn out that ordering at the counter was faster as my their food was brought out to our table ahead of mine. The food runner was nice and friendly each time she came by our table to bring us our food and to clear our table. My food was good and on par for any Urban Plates restaurant that I've visited. I was not used to their version of chimichurri, but still it was tasty. Also, that broccolini was big enough to count as regular broccoli! This seemed to be a popular location as the indoor seating was pretty much all taken by the time we left to go back to work. read more

To the average consumer, this all sounds like buzzwords that might not mean very much; restaurants tend to overpromise and underdeliver. But after grabbing lunch here, I think they stick to their core tenets for the most part. For the calorie-conscious: Very transparent when it comes to nutritional information, everything can be found on their website. Some dishes can be high in sodium, but the same can be said for other healthy restaurant concepts like Tender Greens. Super accommodating if you have a certain allergen or are looking to get something vegan, gluten-free, or vegetarian. For the eco-conscious: Their beef is grass-fed and free from antibiotics. Their chicken is cage-free, ethically raised, and hormone-free. But I believe they use Atlantic salmon raised in Pacific aquaculture farms, which is problematic for existing native species in the ecosystem. For the price-conscious: Plates start at $10.00, with decent portion sizes. Definitely won't leave full but probably just enough to feel satisfied. Plates with two sides of your choice and bread range around $13.00 to $17.00. Only a few minor issues with my order. The steak slices I got weren't cooked as evenly as I hoped; some were medium rare and others were more done. And the white rice was kind of dry. But overall, the meat was well-seasoned and the meal was saved because the mac n cheese was superb. read more

Solid deal for like american lunch food. I would mainly go for the sides :). You order at the counter and find seating, there's a lot of American entree options ( think like thanksgiving dinner). Seating can be a bit limited inside and tight in the middle, there's a lot of nice sauces, to go containers, and vinegar + olive oil for the accompanied piece of bread set out. I got the chicken tender meal which was a solid portion for the price. The regular one is recommended as the nashville one was barbquey with a peppery kick ( not spicy, just like black pepper) and not the expected flavor profile. The mac n cheese and Brussels sprouts were given in generous portions and the servers are super nice. I love the bread it has a nice grilled touch. Overall would recommend for a casual lunch if you crave like "healthy" American food. I wouldn't get the bowls, but the protein + sides options are decent. read more

Please give this wonderful option a try! I love the seasonal refresher drinks. The beets with goat cheese added is a favorite side for now. I love that any substitute is no problem. We had lunch with family (a party of 8) at Urban Plates last week and overall our experience was fantastic. Food is delicious and the menu is enormous. There is something for everyone. Service is unbelievably friendly and accommodating. The manager even brought out a plate that we forgot to order in the first place, he wouldn't even charge us for it. Restaurant is clean and modern. There is outdoor seating as well. Prices are a bit high for a fast casual place ($140 for 8 people, including 2 kids) but not terrible. I'll definitely return! In the meantime I'm just hoping they open an Urban Plates in NYC at some point soon. read more

Oh how times have changed. Five years ago, I would've said this is the best salad ever - full of value, worth the price. Five years later, it has simply gone downhill. Because of inflation, economy, or the cargo ships that are waiting to dock, who knows? Either way, this time I ordered after a long time hiatus I was simply, disappointed. The quality was decent, still there, but the quantity has skimped. Whereas I remember the chicken being offered with such quantity back then, now it is skimpy and meager. Whereas the lettuce were rich and abundant, now is given in a mediocre quantity and nothing impressive. Whereas the price was of great value ($10 to even $12 as prices increased over the years), now I have to pay an EXTRA $1 JUST FOR WHITE MEAT. A full $17 dollars just for a salad. I simply cannot believe it. Of course, can't just blame urban plates, it is just the shit hole of the economy going down the drain, with lower quantities and lower quality. Won't come here again, and if I do, I better get a coupon or a pass to make it worth it. Decent, mediocre, and nothing to remember by, just the good memories. I ordered the Brussel sprouts and black beans with gluten free bread. The steak was tasty the sauce definitely gave it a tasty flavor. I like tender meat and it was pretty tender. There were some fatty parts but not too much which made me happy. The Brussel sprouts were tasty and a little over cooked. The black beans had a hint of a spicy flavor. It was very good! I was plenty surprised. The chocolate chip cookie was delish! Tasted very homemade. I recommend the co Service- Lorraine was very helpful and accommodating.
