If you like the traditional wok flavor in your food, you've come to the right restaurant. This is Cantonese cooking at its best. I recently ordered a family dinner to go from this restaurant, and my family was so impressed with how delicious the food was. I ordered the food to go while I was at the restaurant, and it came out quickly. Unfortunately, the place is slightly hidden inside the mall; it's to the right of Starbucks when looking in from the parking lot. The restaurant is huge, and the staff is extremely friendly. If you are in the area, please check it out--you will not be disappointed.

Our go-to Chinese restaurant. This place makes it hard for us to go to other Chinese restaurants. Conveniently located near our house and service is always on par. Very friendly and quick. We haven't ordered anything that we haven't liked yet. All the food is tasty and fresh. Plenty of parking, but the restaurant is hidden behind other businesses in the front. Make the walk it's worth it! Eventually, they can probably fix the inside to look cleaner. There's a bar that they should utilize instead of storing things there, because it brings down the value of the ambience inside.

Orders for pick up . The service was fast . Pleasant staff. I ordered crispy fish and salted pepper fish. Taste the same but it was awesome for me and my son. Can't wait to try other food

We ordered delivery, so no comments for the restaurant itself. But if the food is a reflection of the service and, it is very positive. We ordered chicken fried rice, orange chicken, and cream cheese rangoon. The portions were great and enough to share. The flavors were great and it all looked very fresh. Look forward for the next time were out this way and check the restaurant for its ambience.

We tried this place for the first time. Tacked in and hard to find in the big Von's mall, close to Akai Hana Japanese and Urge Gastro Pub. The food was, wow, delicious! We ordered our usual Chinese faves, BBQ pork fried rice and eggplant, and garlic chicken. All of them came right out of the wok hot (temperature) and had awesome flavors. Fried rice was rich and so tasty, so close to our all time fave Happy's Fried Rice, which was served at Happy's in Mission Valley long long time ago before Happy retired and sold the place. We still talk about the Happy's fried rice and could not find the replacement Chinese to match Happy's food a couple of decades later, but this place had the similar flavors. The eggplant was a bit spicy for me. Next time we will ask for no spicy. I liked that they use good amount of fresh vegetables. The prices are reasonable and the amount of food was generous. We had enough leftover for lunch! My husband is not a big fan of Chinese food and always drags his feet to try a new Chinese place but he thought the food was delicious and was happy that we tried out the place. The Chinese lady who served us was very nice and made us feel at home. They have a large dining area with booth seating but it seems that they do more takeouts than eat-in. In fact, we were the only ones eating-in close to the closing time Friday night after another couple who were there before us left. We almost didn't go in because the place looked empty and a restaurant being empty usually is not a good sign, but we made a point to at least try once. Don't get fooled by the empty dining room and miss the good food!

The GPS directions don't seem to work for this place. It's in the UPS plaza, a little further down from the CVS and kinda of close-ish to Lomica Dr. I very much enjoyed my dark meat, non-fried, wine/garlic/soy/green onion House Chicken Special (full size). The order also came with a small side of rice. Not sure if it was healthy, but it was good. I wonder if they can spice it up if I ask next time? We ate at a booth inside and there was plenty of other tables. Either than Air Conditioning is broken or they don't have AC. We're going through a heat wave, so it was very warm inside. The place emptied around by 7:30pm, so I'm guessing most of their business is to-go.

Delicious, fresh Chinese food! I highly recommend. My favorite entree is the chicken with seasonal vegetables and the hot and sour soup.

Cute sushi spot near Phil's bbq…read more Very warm and inviting inside and I like all the booths and how spaced out they are even in the center of the restaurant. There's a lot of businesses around this area so I can see Sushi Kami being a popular spot for a go-to lunch outside of work. We came for dinner and got seated right away and it wasn't too busy at all. It was nice but still casual at the same time if that makes sense. I will say the parking was a little tight and we had to make a bit of an awkward U-turn to get to the restaurant but the lot wasn't that full so it wasn't too bad but I could see this being trickier in the daytime. I really enjoyed both the spicy tuna and salmon. I've had a lot of weird spicy tuna but this one hit just right. It's always hard to find that perfect balance between fish and spice but I really enjoyed this one. The salmon was good too. The standout was definitely the tempura we got as well. It was large and came out hot and crispy and perfect. This is the type of sushi restaurant I could take people to who don't necessarily like sushi all that much. There's lots of options on the menu including bulgogi (next time I shall try!) and really good combos for people to enjoy. Ambiance is chill but still has that fun sushi vibe with the displays of fish (and I even saw some creative fish decorating on the walls which I thought was a nice touch) Service was nice and they always refilled our waters without us having to ask. I enjoyed the food and the vibe! Would definitely come back to try more ...and brings others along too!

The staff was very warm and welcoming, though throughout the evening it definitely felt like they may have been short staffed and stretched a bit thin. Since we were headed to a movie after dinner, we decided to keep things light and share appetizers plus dessert. We tried the Fried Shishito Peppers, Veggie Potstickers, Grilled Broccolini, Rosemary Garlic Fries, Whipped Burrata, Garlic Noodles, Salmon Poke Tacos, and Lamb Chops. Overall, the food was decent but nothing especially memorable. The lamb chops were cooked nicely but could have used more seasoning, and the poke tacos were tasty but tiny -- literally about the size of my pinky for each taco. We were disappointed they had sold out of both the Crème Brûlée Bread Pudding and the Budino, which were the desserts we originally wanted to try. Thankfully, the Butter Toffee Cake completely saved dessert for us -- absolutely delicious and easily the highlight of the meal. Overall, a cute spot with good vibes for a girls night, but the food itself didn't quite live up to the hype for us.

Our server recommended a special habanero roll, and my friend ordered the Hawaii rolls--both were excellent. Another friend ordered a burger and really enjoyed it as well, so the kitchen is definitely doing something right. Where things fell short was the service. Our server started off great--friendly and with a good vibe--but as the evening went on, things slowed down noticeably. The host was not very attentive; we had to ask multiple times for items, and drinks were delayed until our server eventually followed up. It felt like no one else was stepping in to help. There were also a few mix-ups. We ordered crème brûlée and cheesecake, but were mistakenly given bread pudding that belonged to another table. It took about 20 minutes for the server to return and let us know about the error. While it wasn't added to our bill, there wasn't much effort made to make up for the inconvenience. I also ordered another glass of wine that never arrived--though, to be fair, I wasn't charged for it. Toward the end of the night, service became even more inconsistent. We were ready to pay, but the server disappeared for a while, and when he finally took our card, he seemed distracted and took extra time chatting with another table. Overall, it's a nice spot--especially for a summer dinner--and the food is definitely worth trying. However, the service needs improvement before I'd consider coming back.

It looks like most of the other tables were reserved for reservations. The decor is modern and very clean and chic. They also had a high chair and was accommodating with our baby. Food was incredible and the quality of the fish is evident throughout. We started with the mixed shrimp and vegetable tempura - light crispy batter, really good. The sashimi champaloo came with 12 pieces of sashimi, salmon, tuna, yellowtail, and the fish of the day was albacore. For rolls, we got the Luna Lemon, Maru's Sushi Toro, and Hamachi Hiro. The rolls were a good size and I loved how each had a fun twist (but at the same time not TOO crazy with their combinations like some other sushi places). You can tell it was designed with intention and each roll had a nice balance. The Luna Lemon roll was great with spicy tuna inside, salmon outside, and the soy dressing and shallot oil put it over the top. The Maru's Sushi - Toro roll looked so good in the photos so I knew we had to order it. The negitoro was delicious and did not disappoint. The Hamachi Hiro roll was hearty and loved the combination of yellowtail outside the shrimp tempura in the inside. We were blown away by how fast the service is. The staff was friendly and on top of everything, and the food came out REALLY fast. For example, when we ordered an extra roll at the end, it came out in maybe 3 minutes and we were shocked. Highly recommend!

Every piece was delicious! -Chirashi bowl ($30.95): I really enjoyed the sushi rice in this bowl since not every restaurant does quality sushi rice. The sashimi was pretty good, but quality wise the sashimi champloo was definitely superior. -Salmon mango roll ($9.50): This had spicy salmon, mango, and ume furikake. This was quite tasty, and definitely had a kick to it. -Maru Maru roll ($9.50): This had imitation crab meat, shrimp tempura, and avocado. A basic roll but still good. -Chicken katsu curry don ($16.95): This was disappointing because the portion was quite small for the price. I do like how the curry was packaged separately. All in all, Hakumaru has quality sashimi and rolls, but could work on portion size for chicken katsu curry don.
