IMPORTANT if you work or live nearby! Our office is a few blocks away from this location, on Towne. Our postal carrier has been NO SHOW for three days straight, resulting in many prepaid packages that needed to be shipped ASAP. We waited on the third day to see if the carrier would actually come. Surprise surprise, they did not. So we pulled into this location at 4:45PM with a dolly full of prepaid boxes. The rude lady behind the counter promptly refused to accept them, saying that our zip code is 91767, which is technically Pomona. Therefore, we could only take our boxes to a Pomona USPS office. What a crock!!!!! UPS, FedEx, DHL, nobody has such a ridiculous problem. The employees are just too lazy to scan the boxes, and therefore refused to accept them even though they were pre-labeled. Don't come to this location. I'm seriously tempted to send in a complaint. You will be treated rudely and refused service. read more

People generally go to post offices for the sole purpose of sending or picking up mail. That makes sense. But it doesn't mean post offices have to be boring or soulless looking. Therefore, I appreciate the simple but attractive architecture of the Claremont Post office. They have historic photos posted inside which are fun. It's neat to learn about the history of the places we kind of take for granted. Still my favorite post office to go to for postal services. This postal service place is one of the fastest in my opinion. Big shout out to Katarina for helping me with my passport renewal. She was very patient, kind and explained the whys and hows. Couldn't have done it without her help. Passport photos also took less than 5 minutes. It is a bit of wait but considering every other postal service place I've been, it's quick. read more

7/13/34 Hubby informed me that there's another price increase of the 1st class stamps (last time in January this year). This inflation is a KILLER, folks! Sure enough, he told me just in the nick of time coz July 14th it's going up from 0.68 to 0.73-Geez! Bought a 100 of them at Costco yesterday & today I wanted the different kinds of 1st class FOREVER stamps. Claremont post office was my first choice, it's small but it's very quaint (especially the neighborhood it's in. The young lady at the counter was friendly & she suggested I select from the stamps that were displayed on the wall opposite the counter. I purchased about $130 worth with one booklet of 20 postcard stamps, too. It was a quick & painless (except for my wallet) transaction. There's always a line and it takes over thirty minutes. There's only ever two women working it's ridiculous!!!

Fast and friendly. The two female workers at the counter were smiling the entire time. They are very patient with the customers who are not familiar with mailing packages. The only issue at this location is the street parking. Once in a while I have to wait for someone to leave in order to park. I also like to visit the nearby shops afterwards. read more

Although I live in Upland I prefer this post office. It seems like a Mayberry version of a Post Office. During my Adopt-a-Senior lunacy I was at a post office about 3 times a week, so I got to know the staff here. They are always pleasant and there is a guy that comes out right about closing time, I think he is the postmaster, he has a nice sense of humor. Parking is on the street and this location usually carries quite a bit of current stamps... in fact they display them on a wall so you can see them while you are waiting. I've noticed that most post offices aren't carrying the large priority mail boxes out in front they will direct you to the. However you will find all of the flat-rate envelopes here in all sizes. It's a small post office so when the lines get long and 6ft spacing the lobby area is limited. Respectfully Reviewed. read more

I've been to this post often, although not as often now as I used to when I lived in the area. Like all other post offices, they can get really busy during peak mailing season (tax day, Christmas time, etc.), however it's usually pretty calm during the other times of the year. For a post office, it is a bit tiny, but quaint...some may call it distinguished even. It has it's charm I guess. The staff is generally easy going and helpful. I used to have a P.O. Box here way back when and it was useful to have as a safe and semi permanent address with 24 hour access. The main downside to this post office is the parking, which is abysmal. There are seldom spaces available nearby so you have to usually park further away, which wouldn't be a problem if you're going to a restaurant or store, but if you're like me then you're probably carrying a bunch of packages to mail and the longer the walk, the heavier they seem to get. As Claremont has grown and continues to grow, I can see how the size and parking situation could become issues here, but for now it's adequate for this smallish college town. However, as things begin to move more online, I could also see it becoming obsolete (hopefully not!). read more

Omg I am so sanded by this review. I went here to mail a box to Palm Springs and the man told me it would be $18+ Priority. I asked for First Class, Parcel he told me the cost would be the same for FC and that they don't do Parcel from here. While the man was talking I heard a woman yell from behind the wall saying that it wasn't worth my going to the regular PO because of the long lines and same price. I told them I could put that in my gas tank and enjoy the ride over rather than pay that much for this little box. Well as it turns out there were no lines at the PO and I paid less than $8 to send it. I have no idea why they just stood there and repeat my lied to my face, but yeah that happened. If you want to deal with workers with an attitude then stop by here. Girl with the pink hair and mask was very rude. I've never had such a bad encounter at a usps. This location also forgets to scan multiple packages so if you're fine with rude workers and no tracking update then come here. Postal annex and postal connections are much better places to take your mail to and more trustworthy with scanning. read more

If you live in Claremont and have an important piece of mail that you actually want the receiver to get, I recommend mailing it from a neighboring city. I've never had mail issues until I moved to Claremont -- I now mail anything important from San Dimas. This has only been an issue the past six months or so, but multiple pieces of mail have gone missing. I've had to re-send checks, re-send Christmas cards, etc. It's unfortunate that whenever I mail something out I have to contact the receiver for confirmation that it reached the destination. I have zero confidence in the Claremont USPS. read more

Do not depend upon this post office (or USPS at all) to process your change of address correctly. That is, even when they have record that you did it, the carrier will not understand what they are to do with forwarding. You could go for weeks wondering if maybe you just don't have much mail and then make the discovery that you could have missed important letters. Never, ever depend on USPS. In the shortest time you can detect, if you're not getting the junk and old contacts you used to get, get on it quickly. Because USPS will not get it right even if you did everything right--and you will have to make sure they do correct it. They won't realize (or care) until you do. Totally dissatisfied. I don't need post offices mostly now, except for things like a change of address--and only because dysfunctional USPS online would not let me do it. So this entire agency is no longer, in my view, good for anything. read more

By far, the best post office in my immediate area! The staff here are pleasant and helpful in my shipping needs. I commonly visit once a week to send off anywhere from 10 to 20 prepaid packages, never once having encountered hesitation from any staff member to help. The middle-age black lady behind the counter is ALWAYS rude with her services. She doesn't ask what rate or option I want and, today, when I asked her what the rate is after she quickly prints the sticker, she hesitantly tells me that it's $0.15 difference (0.15 from what??). I never asked her to make a decision for me nor does she know how fast/slow I want the pkg sent so unless she's paying for my postage, she needs to stop being so arrogantly rude. If I weren't fully supportive of the PO, I'd make her reprint to another option that I choose. read more

It's not bad, but there is room for improvement. This post office is centrally located in the heart of downtown Claremont. It's already a pretty small town, so sporting a post office in such a small town is a huge win in itself. Inside, you have everything you expect in a post office: Tables to write on, shelves filled with relevant inventory, clerks behind the counter, even an emergency exit, yada yada yada. But the biggest criticism which stems from being in a small town is: This place is REALLY SMALL. Too small in my opinion. You could be handwriting the destination on your envelope on one of the tables and people will accidentally bump into you because the line cuts right into the tables. Overall there's a claustrophobic feel. On the flip side though, customer service has been stellar every time I come in. Clerks are helpful, knowledgeable in the services provided and overall friendly to warrant a good mark for customer service. With that said, I wouldn't go out of my way to go to this post office in the near future. If there's one closer to you, you might be better off going there than beating claustrophobia at Claremont's one and only US Post Office. read more

32. It's a post office. There's going to be a line. Get over it. That being said, this post office isn't as bad as some of the other ones I've been to. Contrary to some of the reviews, the staff that I've encountered were very helpful. If you cannot stand waiting forever, then come in the AM on a weekday. You don't have to deal with as many people. Even better, pay your postage ahead of time. You can simply drop off the package at the counter and avoid the line. read more

This small post office is located in a nice-looking old building (I don't know the story behind it, but I'm definitely going to try to find out). Rarely is it crowded here, so the line usually moves pretty quick. For a small location, it does have an Automated Postal Machine. What I really liked is that they actually had several types of Priority Mail packaging out and available, including the small flat-rate box ($4.95, about the size of a VHS case. First time I've seen these in the lobby... always had to ask for them. Also, all the forms are organized and neat, unlike many locations where they're just strewn about. There are no drive-up dropboxes, but it's easy to park real quick and use the sidewalk boxes. Pickup times are 2:30pm and 5pm M-F, and 5pm on Saturday. read more

Very disappointed, I have a P.O. Box here and I love that they were accessible after hours for people that work. No email, phone call, or notice was left to anyone with a P.O. Box here. There were several people outside the post office blinded by these new rules needing their mail. I came by today at 5:10 to find out they are now closing the entire lobby area with the P.O. Boxes also at 5pm weekdays and 1 pm on Saturday's. I will not be renewing my P.O. Box with this post office location and will be calling USPS. There is no point of having a P.O. Box here if you can not access it at your leisure, that is part of what we are paying for. read more

Just meeting my friend today and had to make a stop at the post office because I knew they have one of those self serve machines. It was being worked on but I needed to use that type because it prints out stickers to go on the mailing side and I had a reused box. Anyways, I asked the Asian older man that was working on it, "excuse me, is the machine down?" He didn't look up and said, "What!?" I asked again-- he says... "Well it appears that way..." Then I said so you have any other machines? He says... "Excuse Me?" Asked him again and he says "It doesn't seem to look like it does it?" Can I say... WTF jerk. 12/4/19 Once again our mail was delivered totaly soaked and unreadable. At approximately 4 pm my husband went to the Claremont Post Office to registered a complaint with our soaked mail in hand. He was referred to the White Ave office in LaVerne and unpon speaking with a Supervisor was informed well the carriers getting wet, what do you want us to do, oh well. My husband was furious at the man's cavalier attitude and called him an explesid. In the past we've had carriers who wore ponchos that covered the mail bag and prevented the soaked delivery of our mail. However, apparently the US Post Office believes the law regarding destroying mail as a Federal offense, does not apply to their carriers. Hope your Christmas cards are more readable than the ones we received today and that the carrier doesn't hold their breath for a Christmas thank you gift this year. read more

This is a picturesque little post office in my hometown (or as close to a hometown as I have, I guess). Milford Zornes was commissioned by FDR during the New Deal to do the mural in this post office in the 1930s, and indeed he did. I'm going to counter a bit of the negativity here by reminding readers that Claremont is a tiny city, and therefore a tiny post office makes sense. I deal with it by coming when I have time to spare; I'm sure there are larger, better staffed post offices in Pomona or Upland, but I choose Claremont's because I can walk there! Always a long line, always friendly service. There are usually only two people helping clients. I just recently started selling my old textbooks on Amazon and have come in with a lot of questions about packaging and the cheapest way to ship, etc. and they always let me ask away, take care of labels and addressing, and jump back to the front of the line when I figure it out. read more

I've frequented the post office a few times, including filling out a passport application. We don't have too many urgent situations so we don't know how long something has been sitting in the office (based on the reviews I've read on here) but the lines are pretty long generally. I know they want to maintain the historic aspect of the Claremont area but I never have quick service with small locations. I agree the La Verne location on White is the best so far. The location on the La Verne/San Dimas border is also sloooow. Go here if you're not in a rush, in terms of mail and your time. Use the mailing machine if you can't wait and it's not too complicated. read more

It is the USPS so don't expect too much. Typically this branch is not packed as some of the other local branches can get. There is usually only 1 or 2 people working...or at least helping customers. There is an automated machine that is outside of the main lobby that you can access at just about any time. There are some newer faces working there now and they seem to be a bit more helpful then the old faces. When I do mail items out (thanks to my ebay buyers!) I end up going in on Saturdays and usually get of there there within 10min. There are drive up drop boxes around the back. read more
