Post office is very clean and taken care of, staff gets a B- just because doing my sons passports I had to rewrite a check 4x because they couldn't tell me the proper amount but they are really nice people the woman even held the mail truck up for me so my mail would go out quicker, and they where pretty on point on everything else! read more

I'm a post office regular, and have visited countless post offices in the Midwest and now in the East Bay. It doesn't matter where you go, you're not going to get first class treatment at a post office, (except the PO in Mendota, MN, but who cares about that) You typically won't get warm bubbly treatment; I'm surprised this isn't a widely known generalization. Danville PO is above average when comparing post offices. If you want to experience an average/below average post office, try San Ramon's. read more

The greeting cards are still there. They are located along the back wall and there is a large selection. They also have padded flat rate envelopes at the counter! Not all post offices have this available on hand since they are leftovers from customers. read more

Did passports here, they are super nice, but photo was rejected TWICE. Led to a two month wait, lots of calls to the passport office, and a visit to San Francisco two days before we traveled plus having to pay an expedited fee. Take your pics at the ups office on crow canyon/Tassajara, and do your paperwork here, to save yourself the trouble. read more

This is a great Post Office with drive thru blue mail boxes, a large parking lot and plenty of staff to help and keep the lines moving along. This one is easier to deal with than the Alamo PO and I am glad to have finally stopped in to get stamps! read more

TERRIBLE customer service. We arrived at 9am, when passport appts open. While we didn't have an appt, there was NOONE in the office but the woman was so rude and stone faced. So we should've made an appt. Still, there was NOONE there!!! She refused to help us. Really it was all about her bad attitude. Ridiculous. the one time before that, a supervisor and postal employee had a fight over the scheduling in front of me. Top it off, sign on door says dogs for blind and deaf only. Illegal. There are service dogs for handicapped that ARE legal. As an owner of a hearing dog, I know that to be true. USPS deserves to go out of business. read more

Terrible, terrible service. Cancelling appointments without an explanation... the explanation being "no one filled your slot, but I can't see you, because I said so." Avoid this post office at all costs!! Once again, the one star rating is because that is the lowest rating available. This is not where you want to have a PO Box. Items are consistently lost and/or misplaced. Worst of all, they mark them delivered! As a customer, you have no recourse to recoup your losses as most mail insurance companies have an out clause once the post office marks packages delivered, unless the parcels are signature required. When you ask about the lost items they simply say there is nothing they can do. When you attempt to escalate to management, no one is ever available and they will not return your calls. I finally went to a different post office and was told that there are some very significant issues at this location especially at the PO Box fulfillment level. All the boxes are locked of course, so there are definitely internal issues here . The question remains: Is this a fraud or competence issue? Either way avoid at all costs or you will potentially be out hundreds or thousands of dollars! read more

I called several times, during business hours, and the phone was never answered so I went down there to make the appointment. Totally rude-"you have to make an APPOINTMENT, lady." "That is what I am doing." "You have to go online to do that, lady." "I went on line and they gave me your phone number, which you never answered." "Just go away and make your appointment on line." "Look--here is the passport office information--there is no way to do that." "I don't care what the passport office says, we won't make your appointment for you, you have to do it on line." Classic government idiots. I travel a lot and the carrier ignores mail holds. It got so bad, I've taken to locking the mail box delivery slot when mail is supposed to be on hold and he takes the freaking time to walk up and dump junk mail at the door! Even more - he dumps neighbors' catalogs and circulars at my door.... Calling their number to register a complaint has 1 hour hold times (so they say - I've never stayed on hold to see if it's accurate). read more

The Danville Post Office apparently has decided to support the argument that the government is the worst service provider (even beating Comcast for that award) and that postal service should be privatized. Our mailperson routinely skips us, delivers mail to the wrong address (we get neighbors' mail regularly), and leaves package slips in the mailbox so that he/she doesn't have to walk to the door to drop off a package. When you call the Camino Tassajara office to ask a question (like whether a package has been returned there), the woman who answers the phone is rude and hangs up quickly. Why would anyone would choose to deal with this post office over FedEx or UPS is beyond me. Avoid them at all costs. If you have to use the postal service, go to another town. read more

I don't appreciate being lied to, Lilly. Not only did I hear her badger an elderly gentlemen who had a perfectly reasonable question regarding mailing a parcel internationally and what postal insurance would cover, she openly lied to me about the passport renewal process. I previously researched the process prior to entering. I had my passport book, completed application w/ picture & checkbook in hand. She informed me that the Danville Post Office does not process passport applications for anyone who received their last passport as an adult and that I'd have to do it online. The USPS.com website for the Danville, CA (94526) location says otherwise. I drove to the Pleasanton post office and they processed/mailed my application & book without issue. My best recommendation: avoid Lilly at this location as she has proven to not be honest & forthright. read more

What a well-run, pleasant post office! They usually have several windows open at a time, so wait times are short, even during the holiday rush. Getting out of the parking lot is a little dicey if cars are backed up at the traffic light. Other than that, this is an optimal postal experience. read more

My postwoman is too lazy to get out of her vehicle so if there is a bike in front of our mail boy she will just send out mail back because she "couldn't get to the mailbox". Recently I had important documents sent back to where they came from (across the country) and am now unable to go on an international trip because she could not deliver the package. I have been able to get in and out of this Post Office quickly and without any issues. I have sent packages over the holidays and was met by a staff member who asked me questions about my items before I went up to the counter. Then I took the slips with me and the employee at the counter. I thought it made the task a lot easier on everyone. read more

I have to agree with most reviews that if i could give negative reviews I would. I don't give many YELP reviews but felt I had to in this instance. We usually don't get our mail until 5 or 6 pm every day, sometimes they don't pick up letters from our box and also sometimes they don't even deliver our mail...for NO reason! Also we frequently get other people's mail so I am convinced our carrier is the worst. I scheduled a package pickup yesterday and while I received confirmation that it had been picked up, when I returned home from work it was still sitting there on my front porch- completely unacceptable. I had to call and re-schedule and hopefully they will come today but I'm not holding my breath. This post office really has a LONG way to go to increase their productivity and just do their jobs! read more

compared to other us post offices the danville branch is by far the best. First the line is ALWAYS shorter than san ramon or dublin location. The staff there is friendly and attentive to detail. Scott at the Danville Post Office went above and beyond for us! We were waiting for escrow documents from Sweden that were delayed in NY Customs. He personally tracked them everyday for us. Scott called us every morning with updates. Once they arrived at the Post Office, he personally made sure that we received them the same day! The service is awful. Last year i started selling my closet online. I started visiting usps every week. The asian woman clerk is really rude. We had a not happy interaction. She was rolling her eyes, not helpful, inpatient. Its like she is doing such a big favor taking my packages. Its her job. But she was doing it with big attitude. So i learned my ways using the kiosk and stopped coming in to interact with live person. Today, i came in with my pre paid label for priority mail. They made such a big deal saying that pre paid label is only ok for 2 days. I showed her i sold it on Poshmark and the website says i have 7 days to mail my item and the pre paid label is sent right away to the email. So it was ok and plus i mailed before. Anyways the clerk and her manager made such a big deal, keep saying its non of their problem and they wont take it. She also told me why couldnt you ship it on Saturday... I think if i couldnt do that day, thats mean i had stuff to take care. Also she told me i should of dropped it in the mailbox even they were not working... Anyways, the manager was so rude, no wonder her clerks are rude as well. When one apple us bad, whole apple goes bad. I was in a rush to go to airport, i didnt have time to reason more, since i wasted 10-15 mins of my time already. So while i was leaving i said this mailroom is just ridiculous and i left, the manager started yelling in my back: "what did you say!?!?" And to her employees: "what the heck did she say...?" I took my package to SF location after airport drop off, and they didnt say anything. I checked online, the package was processed and will be delivered in 2 days. Such a hussle to deal with them. I go there because its the closest one to me. The mail comes in everyday after 5 pm. The drop box has 3 different time for pick up, but they only sort once a day! read more

ZERO stars for this post office. I called to make an appointment to have my sons passport done. I SPECIFICALLY asked if my son had to be present. The person on the phone said "no. As long as you have all the paper worked prepped." Came in the day of my appointment, only to have someone tell me that "i makes all the appointments and I have a recording of what i say. I asked her to "please pull the recording" & how convenient .. apparently, now "there is no recordings" As she pulled the appointment book, she realizes it "isn't her hand writing. " She rudely offers me another appointment that day and when i explained it's a real inconvenience (especially since I made an appointment) -AND I could have accommodated my son to be here - given, if I were told the right information. What is the point of making the appointment?! I had not only taken time off work but could have accommodated my son to be there at the time I made my original appointment. When I had advised this was an inconvenience, she said "do you want this appointment or not?!" - As I needed this done (typical instances when filing for a passport, is it not?!) , I agreed. I rushed to have my son there directly after school before his baseball practice .. only for them to tell me they were taking the original copies of my sons birth certificate. I have a copy of the document saying it says "copies" (which I made ahead of time) & even if this is the process, I believe, I deserve to be treated in a polite manner. When i simply questioned the policy (as I had the document list with me that had specifically advised COPIES... but also .. WHO just hands over over official documents without questioning?!) .. She refused service from me. Then, when I had asked for names and phone numbers from the "supervisor," she handed me a list of names. I called the post office to have a manager and said "the manager was gone for the week & I can file a complaint with the 1800 number." & how convenient .. when I call the 1800 number, you can't get in touch with a live person. Not only unhelpful & inconsiderate but absolutely NO level of customer service. I will be asking my another local post office in the area where I can file this complaint as this is completely unacceptable. read more

Not to mention, our regular delivery route in Danville means an average mail delivery time of 6:30 - 7:00 p.m. One day last week, we got no mail AT ALL ....(supposedly the truck broke down). I can't believe how bad this post office is!! I wasn't going to write this until I saw these other reviews. No I feel I must! SO we have not had consistent mail for about two weeks now. Some days we get no mail at all, even when I see the mail truck drive up and down our street. Some days we get other people's mail and the address numbers aren't even close. It's the holidays! You honestly think I have no mail?? Not an Xmas card, not a catalog, not a coupon, heck not even a crappy ad/flyer??? SO I called to complain and the response was, "Oh your normal person was on vacation. You mail should get delivered now that he's back." WHAT!?!?!? So when our guy is not here, I should expect crappy/no service?? I tell him that I see the (description of the mailperson) and the guy on the phone says, "Oh, I know who you are talking about. I will have a talk with her." WHAT??!?! You know this employee is not doing her job and she is still employed? SO, of course I have a Xmas present ordered and I have a tracking number. It shows it arrived at this Danville Post Office on Dec 11 and is "pending delivery", estimated Dec 12. Well, its Dec 16 and guess what. No mail today AGAIN!! WTF?? I wish the Post Office would go out of business because its ridiculous this losing business who is funded by my tax dollars is not providing me a service. I guess the motto "through rain or sleet or snow, the mail must go through" has long been dead. Heck these guys aren't even going through a harrowing experience like the pony express did. No phone number so only walkin access. I have only received mail one out of the last 14 days. A $5000 check is missing along with many other bills and letters which somehow have gotten lost with this post office. Only in our government do we accept this terrible form of service and support. Apparently they moved the people they couldn't fire from the VA admin over to this post office. In the mean time our goverment officials are spending their time working on changing the signs and making law for who can access what bathroom. Seems right to me! read more

Most terrible USPS that I have ever visited in my entire life. I drove 50 miles to apply for my aunt's passport. The USPS's website did not specify that I needed a prior appointment. When I reached the Danville Post office, the clerk at the counter mentioned that since you do not have an appointment, let me get the Supervisor to see if she can help and make an exception. The Supervisor had no sense of providing any service whatsoever. I explained that I drove specifically 50 miles to get to this post office and take my aunt from Danville to apply for her passport. Can you make an exception? But all the explaining was of no use. To me the Supervisor from this Post Office along with all other staff should be fired? read more

I hope they receive raises during this holiday time. The lines are so long for self-serve and the mail clerk line. It was hard to understand the gentleman and I thought he said 10 days or 16 days for my box, so I said to send the quicker way. After sliding the card he needed to see it, so I gave it to him. He printed out the long receipt, folded it, handed it back, and I thought my card was included so I said "thank you so much" and put it in my purse. Back in the car I thought I would look it over. It was for 2 day mailing which was great, but no credit card. Glad I double checked. He was holding the card behind the desk for me. People in line giggled. I kind of wondered why he didn't ask someone in line to just go out and get me. I was sitting in my car. I feel bad for those working there under stressed conditions. They need raises.
