Went to the Post Office in Fremont off Thornton Ave/Dusterberry Way on Tues 12/15/15. I turned into the parking lot and it's FULL which is a bad sign, means huge line and nobody is leaving! I got the last spot and made my way in. Passport line is the one I wanted, they have 1 Vietnamese lady working in there, she was helping someone and 2 people were ahead of me. I got the Renewal form that was outside the door. I only looked at the front page and checked Yes on those, I should have opened up the package because I had 2 pages still to do and had to do them before she would help me further when it was my turn. After I filled out the 2 pages, then I turned in my 1 picture (taken at Costco where they give you 4 pictures for $4.99 before tax) and my Passport that needs renewing. It's $110 for Normal Processing, but I forgot my check, so I did the Debit Card (they charge an extra $1.25 for processing fee). For the Shipping Priority Mail that was an additional $5.75. Be ready with Cash, Check, or be ready to pay by Debit Card. They close early at 2:30pm M-F but you better be there by 2pm so they will help you. We had a terrible experience with International mailing services with USPS. We were sending out an important document to India from the Fremont, CA postal office and the person at desk gave us the different alternative and the fastest one (based on our urgency). We went with the Priority express international service since the person called out that it would reach the destination in 3-5 days guaranteed as it is called out on the post office board as well. They charges us $90 instead of the $125 charged at UPS or Fedex. We waited for 10 days (7 business days) and never received the package. When we checked with the psot office supervisor he says "We are expected to say that the mail will get delivered in 3-5 days but this is not a guaranteed timeline since they cannot decide what happens in the destination country". When we asked why we were provided the deceiving information, he mentioned that the staff would have never said that. He did not care about anything that we had to say. This is my second time going to Fremont US Post Office to ship some packages. The first time wasn't too memorable, but my most recent visit was excellent. Veronica helped me out and she was friendly and helpful. She kindly suggested I make adjustments to my labels, as she was concerned that it may confuse the delivery person. Overall, the post office is a bit run-down, but I am satisfied with the service I received thus far. Social distancing measures are enforced, so lines appear to be long but it moves at a fairly quick pace. read more

My friend came here 9/20 around 6 AM for a new passport. She did not have an appointment but was willing to wait in line. A group of Chinese people had an appointment and waited 30 minutes for them. Thankfully the staff let her in after them. After all, all she had to do was sign. But this RUDE Indian lady decided to force her to schedule an appointment for her all the way in San Jose. Are you dumb? Why would she drive all the way to San Jose to do the same thing she could do at THAT post office? She woke up so early and drove through so much traffic. There was literally no one else in the building after the Chinese people that came with an appointment. After the nice staff let her in the sign papers and checks, the RUDE indian lady decided to be butthurt about not going to San Jose by appointment and decided to tell her off and tell her she's not "special". To the RUDE indian lady, even though she is a 4.0 student, she will get farther than you ever will, post office worker. You're lucky I was not there to rim you. I bet you like to kick puppies too. As a person that works in customer service you should not put your anger on others. Maybe if you learned that you wouldn't be working a post office job. I called to ask if they will take walk in for Minor Passport Renewal Application, I was told by a Lady that yes, I don't need to make an appointment, i gathered all my paper work., I made my son miss school and Both and my husband took time off work and went there to find out that they don't take walk in, the lady at the passport office was extremely rude and asked me speak to supervisor, i waited for 1/2 hour for the Indian Lady Supervisor (Kaur) to get off a personal call to come and talk to me rude saying I don't know who gave you that information but it's not right! to Accommodate me she said come on Friday they will take in walk in at 2:30. We again took time off and got there at 2:00pm and guess what there was a line already, we were the 5th in line but were told by an Indian Male that they will not take us in as the applicant before has two two application each so they can only take 6 application, was I told this before? NO! Here we are just trying to get my sons passport renew by a government based source and yet to find appointments to get that done! You can get your passport or renewal processed here without appointment or if you can't do it through mail. It's not as awful as some of the posters experienced. Personally you just have to be here by 6:30 to 7am the latest so that you can get a number when the postal office opens its door at 8:30am. The line along will start forming as early as 5:30am but it's mainly just 1 or 2 folks, as for me being here since 5am I can attest to this fact. Don't worry and be happy. Make sure you get a folding char and nice hot beverage and please please wear a jacket as it will be very cold. The outside door leading into the postal office will remain open 24/7 here. Get your number and then figure out if you will be needing to wait in line again for the morning session or come back later when it reopens at 1pm for the afternoon session. This is my local post office, and it usually gets the job done. Whether you want to pick up some stamps, drop off a package, you can usually get in and out of here fairly easily. Like many other people, I like using the automated machines, especially on the weekends so that I don't have to try to rush here after coming home from work. Lately, the automated machines have been in need of a little love. One machine flat out couldn't print out any postage. The other machine could print postage, but the barcodes would be messed up for Priority Mail packages. Hopefully these things will be resolved soon. read more

If I could give zero I would. I visited this post office to have a small envelope mailed. The lady behind the counter did not input the address correctly despite me writing it correctly and then skipped over the screen that would have allowed me to check the address. After two weeks the envelope returned to me, and when I brought it back to the post office the clerk refused to offer me any sort of compensation for a mistake that was their fault. I asked to speak to her supervisor and she refused because "they were too busy". Ultimately I had to pay to resend this package because it was a gift that was already very late. If I could give this post office a "00" I would!! I came to this post office to send a certified letter/receipt requested with a 2 day delivery on September 30th. Due to arrive October 3rd due to the Weekend. The clerk there told me "Two days guaranteed". I paid nearly $30.00 additional fees for this service. Enclosed was a $6000.00 certified bank check. What happen: Once I left the post office, I tracked my letter to see if it had arrived. On Oct.3rd. Tracker informed me that my letter was still in transit. Oct.4th. Most people dread having to go to any sort of government office -- DMV, court, and yes, the post office. While your expectations may be low, this location has some things going for it: - There are two automated postal machines -- easy to get your stamps and/or boxes sent off without having to wait in line. - When the post office is actually open, there is a package dropoff window -- no need to wait in that super slow line to send your packages back to Amazon/eBay/etc. As per usual, there are the downsides. The parking lot is tiny and usually full (even on the weekends.) Came here on a Saturday and of course there was a line, however, the line moved rather quickly. When it was my turn to go to check out, the lady at the front was super nice and she even recommended that I mail out my package in a different way to save some money. The other lady that was working there seemed to also be nice with the lady that she helping. Parking lot here is great and it is near the freeway. It is semi tucked away so pay attention when looking for it, otherwise you might miss it! Love that they have a drive thru drop off as well for regular non-packaged items. I've been using this Dusterberry Postal Office for20+ years and don't have any complaints, except maybe long lines at times (including for Passports). Nobody had been rude and they seem to try their best. I decided to write up a review because I was blessed by this Postal staff this past week. Last Tuesday, I was busy at the counter top by the PO boxes writing addresses on packages, etc. I got distracted by a phone call, left the building, and only realized later on that I had forgotten a couple of envelopes I wanted to get postage for and mail. The office was closed when I returned and there was nothing on the counter top. I was sad to think I had lost those cards and wondered if someone picked them up, they were thrown away, or if by any chance the postal service would try to get them back to me. I told my friend who was to receive one of these (bday) cards that if that happened it would indeed be a kind person. The next day, someone rang my doorbell and it was our postal person. She handed me the three envelopes! and said she wanted to make sure she could hand these to me personally, or, she'd have to send them back (no postage). I was so happy! I came in this morning seeking passport services, mainly to change my passport to reflect my new last name, since getting married back in August 2015. When I called in and heard on the recording that the passport office closes from noon-1pm for lunch, I strategically planned to arrive around 12:45 so that I can be first in line for the afternoon. Boy, was I wrong about that...when I walked in, there were already 4 people in line ahead of me, wtf?! I then overheard people talking about getting a number this morning, and saw some holding a red card with a bold number printed on it. I proceeded to ask the little old lady in front of me about the number everyone was speaking about. She went on to say that, she was in this morning and the line was out the door. The first 20 people received passport help, then the next 20 people received a card in which held their spot on getting passport help for the afternoon. Meaning, if you didn't receive a number for the day, you weren't going to get help until the next business day... This is the USPS' idea of "first come, first served." When I realized I wasn't going to be helped today or tomorrow, I did research online to see what I needed to do for a simple name change. All in all, I found out that I wasn't going to need the help at the post office, yet I needed to mail my things in. Thank god! For those that may need passport services in the future, come early to get a number as this location doesn't take appointment. O M G Where to begin? If you are considering getting a passport I will highly recommend that you call another post office and make an appointment. We made the big mistake of coming here because it's "first come first serve". We came in at 8am and it was a joke! We were told that we needed to come at least 6am to get a number because they had already passed out the numbers for the day? The following day we arrived at 5:30am. We were the first ones in line. It quickly filled up and by 6:30am the line was at least 30 people deep. They only pass out 25-30 numbers a day. Of course they don't tell anyone that, so if you are number 31 you could have possibly waited in line for HOURS only to be turned away at 8:45 AM which is when the passport processing starts. So many people were turned away and were pissed, and it's understandable. Also, their picture machine isn't working so make sure you go to a Walgreens and get passport pictures to bring with you. So bring your coffee, breakfast, snacks, a warm jacket and passport pictures with you. And get here early. Good luck! read more

I recently mailed a package to an eBay buyer in San Francisco. In my rush to provide tracking to the buyer, I accidentally provided the wrong tracking number. To make matters worse, I foolishly threw away my receipt! A week later, the buyer contacts me saying he never received the item and tells me the tracking number was no good. I visited the post office that afternoon after work and asked for help. I spoke to two front desk clerk who told me there's nothing that can do for me since I don't have the tracking number. Then they asked a lady named Rosita to assist. She took down the info and after 4 visits to the post office, she was able to reprint my receipt with the tracking number based on estimate time of ship, estimate amount paid, and ship to zip code!!! I was sooooooo happy. The tracking number revealed that the package was successfully delivered 3 days after it was shipped. To make double sure the address was correct, I called USPS and asked them to confirm the tracking number matched the address I shipped to. They confirmed it matched!! I shared this info to the buyer and he went from aggressively pursuing a refund to kindly backing down. What Rosita did saved me from having to issue back a huge refund for something I shipped. This morning Friday April 29, I was the first in line at USPS Dusterberry at 8.30am. At 8.35, the clerk said her computer was not ready. Then she said her printer was not working. I asked her when will it work...she asked me back unpleasantly " do you want to go to another branch?. WTF!. I had a large package, light weight, but bulky. They could not weigh in on that tiny table scale. They tried many different ways...not working. I left angrily and decided to go to UPS. USPS....its time for your company to do more efficiently. I want to give two stars but the lady that was processing all the passports was so nice and knowledgeable (she is the true MVP there) that I'll go with three stars. So I got to the post office at 11am because I went to get my picture somewhere else thinking that was going to save me time and $. Wrong. In retrospect I should have just gone to the most office when it opened. Anyways. I get to the post office at 11am and I'm waiting in line with only three people in front of me, no big deal. Then a nice Samaritan that was in line says "you should ask the lady in the red vest for a number". A number? Thanks nice person! So I ask the worker for a number and she goes "oh, the lady is done for the morning come back at 1pm". I knew that they took a lunch from 12-1pm so it made sense that she wasn't going to help me before 12. Not a problem so I leave not thinking twice about this NUMBER that was mentioned earlier. I come back at 12:30pm because I wanted to make sure I was in line early! I walk in side and this time there is a family of 4 waiting, a young couple, and a man still filling out his application. I think to myself great, no reason I shouldn't be seen right? Well, as I'm waiting in this not so real line I see that the family of 4 all have this red piece of paper with a number on it, so does the couple and so does the man! WTH! At this point it is 12:50. I stand in line to speak to one of the workers because no one was just available for me to walk up and ask a question. Finally I speak to a lady and nicely ask if I can please get a number because I came earlier and no one said anything about a number. She looks a lame a little confused and says "oh the line isn't long just wait in line and you'll get helped". SO I DO. Meanwhile, more people arrive and are equally as confused as me because people/ families keep popping out the blue with numbers and we do not have numbers. Finally, at 1pm the nice MVP passport lady explains to us that if we have a number stand in a line and if we don't stand in a separate line. Then she explains that if they are enough numbers left we will be seen if not to come back a different day! Sooo then the lady that is behind the counter that (I spoke to earlier) goes I have 3 numbers left. My head almost exploded. Luckily I have been in line forever so I shuffle to her get my number and finally feel relieved. As soon as they give us those numbers they put a sign on the door saying all the numbers have been given out for the day. Now the waiting game. I am number 16 and I read on this Red piece of paper that processing is done at 2:30pm and the attendant can cut the line early if it's basically 2:30pm. Whaaaat. So my odds do not look good let me explain what the line looks like now. Single guy, single guy, family of 4, a family of 5, a family of three, a single lady and THEN ME! While I am in line waiting about 4 more people came in that basically went through the same thing as me. They said they were here earlier and were told to return at 1pm but no one mentioned anything about a number. They were not as lucky as me, most left. One got a number after speaking with the supervisor. Long story long, I finally was seen at 2:15pm!!! The MVP lady looked at all my paper and explained some things to me. Got me a money order and gave me my receipt. She literally took like 6 minutes to do my stuff and I WAS DONE! I basically just want people to know that yes you need a number! GET A NUMBER! I was disappointed in the lack of information from the personnel other than the ONE PASSPORT LADY. So for that I give three stars. So I went to a few post offices and thinking all usps offices are all the same. I use the app Mercari. If you're shipping something under over 8 oz it's a fixed $4. The app generates the label for you. Which uses Endicia.com( discounted postage rates) Some of my packages are a little over that and I usually pay the difference which isn't much like less than a dollar. The woman who helped me doesn't know what she is doing, asking me questions and how I got a shipping label without weighing it. She is questioning every little things, usually I just pay the difference. She was like very annoyed and asked how much I paid for the label which was $4. So she deducted $4 and made me pay the rest. That's not how other post offices I been to did it. Poshmark, Mercari, and etc apps have labels you can print out yourself and stick on. She just stared at me because she never heard of that. This review is for my experience with the passport services. Went in to get my passport. Today is Thursday, June 6, and I had about as good an experience as I could expect from the post office. Some things to address: Yes, the passport line may be slow. This is expected. Applying for a passport is a big deal, and they have to be thorough about everything going into this process. A minute of effort will save individuals weeks of time down the road here. The line/wait time: I was the first in line after arriving at 6:30. Way better than the horror stories I saw in other review. By 8:15, there were about 4 people in line. I guess Thursdays with no significant holidays coming up are a little slower than other days. Today there were no tickets handed out, there were only about 10 people in line. This was cut down to about 4, since the camera for passport photos was out of commission for the day. Not that big a problem, but this meant that I had to go to FedEx down the street on Fremont and Mowry (I'd recommend going here, everywhere else had a broken printer, or couldn't take pictures until 11). I was back in line at about 9:20, with only two people in line ahead of me and one person being helped. By the time it was my turn, about 5 people had their applications processed in about an hour and a half of time. This may not be the average, but this was my experience. As for time with my application once it was my turn, I only took about 5-10 minutes for my first time application. I think I was one of the quicker passport applications, as I had all my documentation ready (Original birth certificate, drivers license, passport photo, and appropriate copies), and filled out my application processing. I could have been a little faster if I didn't have any questions about the process. This is probably the best case scenario, I don't think everyone will be as fast as I was. The passport associate: The person working the passport line was not rude, or anything like people here are saying. She was efficient, her demeanor is probably a result of customers she has to deal with, so she has to be very blunt to avoid any miscommunications and to speed things up. She's not here to make you feel like a valued customer or any of that restaurant nonsense, she's here to make sure your passport is processed correctly without mistakes so you can travel without complications. Expect her to be as friendly as you are to her. I had a good experience with her, she was very willing to answer any questions I had and made sure that I had the information I needed. She even told me what they were doing with the documentation I provided, who to call if I have any other questions, expected dates, etc. This was about as good as it gets. I was all done by 9:45. All in all I had a good experience, the person working the line made sure to let everyone know that the passport camera was out of order, and gave a list of alternative places that customers can take passport pictures at. Machines go out of order, it happens I'm not going to take stars off for this. The regular post office looked like they were giving good and thorough customer service to anybody dropping off packages. I've frequented this location throughout the past decade or so and there is ALWAYS ALWAYS a long line. No matter the time of day, no matter the day of week. I highly recommend using a different location or using self-service check-out when possible. PASSPORTS: Recently, I renewed my passport here. You arrive and are issued a number in line, if you do not get a number, you must return at a different time. Again, the lines are INSANE. My first attempt was about 1 hour after opening & I was turned away because all of the numbers have been given out already (approx. 30). I returned at noon & was 2nd in line. The office reopened from lunch at 1 pm and I was served shortly thereafter. I would recommend spending the lunch hour in line (if possible) and being one of the first people there because that guarantees quick service after that hour wait. Otherwise, your wait time may vary depending on the preparedness of others in line ahead of you. NOTE: You must bring your 2x2 ID photo, there is no photo service available onsite. Well I have to give credits to the people at this location. Registers are full and busy all the time but manage to give help at any time they can give. Second; you can renew or apply for US passport. Well it's one of those every 10 years renewal for me however they do not take appointment which I suggest you must come here before they open. The office is from M-F from 9:00am-3:00pm. I really like the lady during early morning hours, she fast, thorough and nice. :) needless to say Marshall law that when you think you have all the right documents chances are NOT, so I have to come back to bring another set of doc. Don't work here. I don't know about the customer service, but being a delivery driver is no good. Management does not treat the new CCA's well. Expect to work 24 days with 2 days off, all days being 10+ hours. You have no family life. Your life becomes postal life. read more

If there was 0 star I would give them 0 because they don't deserve any better. They lost my mails twice and they do not take any responsibility at all. It says delivered but no it was not delivered !!! They don't give a f*** coz they work for the government and no one can say nothing to them. Such a f**** up system and irresponsible people. read more

This place deserves more credit! I'm a property manager for a community under construction. We were moving our mailboxes to a new location and every time, which was often, I had to come here the team was incredibly helpful and genuine. Mr.Mann the delivery supervisor went above and beyond to make sure that we worked together to find a suitable locations and gave suggestions that were valued. He spent time on the phone with construction to confirm before starting and generally demonstrated great follow through. I don't find myself in many post offices these days, but at least I know if I ever need one there is a friendly face right down the street happy to help. Don't forget to vote! read more
