I was daunted by all of the negative reviews I read about passport renewal/replacement. I unfortunately woke up a bit late (9 ish) but decided to swing by anyway to see if they could make it work. The lady at the counter told me to wait by the door as she was helping a family fill out forms. There was no line and in about 2 minutes she called me in and asked what I needed. I filled out all of the forms and gathered all the documents I needed the day before at home: -DS11, DS64 (I think you only need a DS11 for a renewal, however) -Photocopy of the front and back of my drivers license -Passport photo (taken at Walmart, it's cheaper! Would recommend Costco instead though if you have a membership) -Birth Certificate (original, or a certified copy) -Proof of ID After she checked my information on my applications, she prompted me to sign them and then began to explain the fees to me. Realizing that this actually couldn't possibly take any time at all I even cracked a few jokes about how expensive it was-the lady was much more cheerful and laughed with me as I paid. Maybe I'm insanely lucky to have come in when there was no line or any sign of these "pink number tickets", but my total time spent here was under 5 minutes and my overall impression is that if you're prepared and there aren't many people in line, there's nothing to it! read more

The indian woman really doesn't know how to do her job and is extremely rude. I came with a package that had a prepaid label and I suspected the package was a little overweight so I wanted to pay the difference but she literally told me it wasn't possible and she told me I would have to redo the whole label. I went to the other post office in Newark and the employee there helped me out and accepted the package as well. Please stop hiring people like this who don't even know their jobs and have no sense of customer service. Drive a couple more miles and go to the Newark one instead people. read more

This review is for the regular post office, not the passport line. That passport line looks like a mess that I'd never want to go into. The US Post Office here on Dusterberry is the typical type of service I expect. The lines can get long and it may take a while to get through to finish everything. I prefer using the self service when possible. However, I have to buy stamps inside or I will get charged a fee for mail orders. The rates for USPS are definitely better than UPS and FedEx most of the time. The express cut offs are much earlier than UPS and FedEx so be prepared to go earlier in the day. read more

I travel additional miles to go to this post office instead of the one in my area. The staff persons are quite affable and extra helpful whenever it is needed. I cannot recommend this location more due to not only their staff but also their convenient parking. read more

DO NOT COME HERE FOR YOUR PASSPORT! So we walked in yesterday to submit our passport paperwork, all ready and complete. There was a line, so we stood in line. After standing in line, we find out we will not get helped. They hand out 36 orange number cards and if you get one, you get helped, if you don't, then go home. We thought that was just ridiculous! Came in at 6am with no line on a Tuesday. By 6:30am there were able 12 people in line. By 8am a huge line formed that was then cut in half when they passed the tickets out. Many people may think one person in line is one passport. But they could be standing in line for a family of 3+. So 6 people may take up 1/2 the slots. They also waste about 10-15 minutes explaining the application process with tons of people asking stupid questions; which causes less tickets to be passed out. So don't be that person asking stupid questions. (Also unless you know the correct size to cut, distance to take a picture, don't be cheap and take a portrait and cut it) Bring Cash or check (no fee to process) Or you can pay by money order/debit card (fee, sorry didn't check how much) 5* for the lady we worked with. I came in to get my reserved PO Box. I had all the paperwork filled out from the USPS website. Veronica helped my wife and I and she was so cheerful and informative. I always had a great experience here. Used delivery and drop off services. Also photo and passport service. They are always very supportive and takes care of the related services. Great customer service. Today morning went here to drop off package and saw line for walk-in passport service. I asked representative about the process. Got all the needed information and received token to stay in line for same day. Went home, picked up newborn for whom passport needs to be applied, completed form and took needed documents. Went back to usps and passport has been applied in 20mins along with photographs taken. Amazed with the service. read more

She advised me I am only allowed too send a box 79 inch all the way around. I had 95 inches, she was so helpful with what I needed to do. She was very patient and helpful with everything I needed. *This is a review for the Passport Service* Like many others, I came here to get my Passport renewed. Since this is one of the few locations around Fremont that has a passport renewal location, expect it to be busy. Especially since the office is served by only one agent. I got here at 7 AM on the dot on a Monday, and there was already a line with about 24 people in it. The Passport office has the following hours: 8:45-12 PM and 1-2:30 PM. The way the system works is that once the office opens, the first 30 some people (applications) receive a number. That number determines if and when you get your passport application processed by the agent. If you do not receive a number, then you cannot get your application processed and you have to return on another day. Here's a tip that'll keep you from waiting in line for a long time. If I'm recalling this correctly, 25 applications are processed in the morning. If you are somewhere 1-25 then you will have to wait in line in the morning (between 8:45-12 PM). What seems more ideal (if your schedule permits) is being number 26 - one of the first applications processed in the afternoon. This way, you can go home and return at 1:00 PM without having to wait in line at all. To get one of these sweet numbers, I recommend getting here around 7:00 - I did and I got to be the lucky #26. If you need to get the application processed in the morning, I recommend getting here at 6:30 the latest and bringing some coffee, something to keep you busy, and maybe even a folding chair. To make the process even easier, print out the forms online (or pick them up from the post office) and fill them out completely beforehand. Have your passport pictures, your old passport (if applicable) and additional state issued identification on hand and ready to go. For the fees, it is true that you can pay with card now HOWEVER, paying with card will charge you a hefty fee. So if you can, bring your checkbook. Taking all of these steps made the process pretty painless for me. Yes, you have to wait in line, but you can't really blame the post office for that. The passport agent is very clear, knowledgeable, and approachable. It is evident that she does her very best to accommodate the most people possible, and make the process as efficient as possible (the application processing itself will take no more than 10 minutes). So just be prepared and know what to expect and the process will go smoothly for you. read more

This place is like the DMV scene in the movie Zootopia where their workers are full of sloths. No appointment needed for the passport line but they hand out numbers?? Isn't that the same thing as a same day appointment? Kinda sucks that they close at 2:30 pm. It's not even an 8 hour work day! I don't know what they do after 2:30pm but meeeh...I find it RIDICULOUS how some people have to wait 2 hours in line before they even open to get a number just to be seen. That's two hours of sleep or two hours of something that we lost just waiting for it to even open! And you're not even first in line! CRAAAAZY. We went to this post office for passport service for my month old daughter. They accept walk-in that is a very good thing as the wait time is 2-3 months in other locations who accept appointments only. second thing i like is they open at 8:45 AM where as most of the other post office starts accepting application at 10 AM which will impact your work schedule. one thing to note as it is walk-in so people come early to form line but not bad like pleasanton or livermore location. we went there around 6:30 AM and we are the 3rd in line. by 7:30 almost 30-40 people. They accept only 40 application per day but they do give 10-15 more depending on time available. Note: No Infant Photo Service. only photo for Adults. I am writing this review while waiting in line for new Passport of my new born. Came here at 8.30 and got a token, was then asked to stand in a line which had almost 20,25 folks. They wouldn't start processing the line until 9 AM. It's been 2.5 hours and I am still standing in the line with a 1 month old in the stroller. I think it will take another 40 minutes before they see me. What I utterly fail to understand why instead of asking you to stand in line, can't they simply call folks by token numbers? There is ample of free space and maybe they can put some chairs. This is really a horrible experience- which you don't even experience in developing countries! read more

It is unfortunate that you cannot give 0 stars in Yelp. The Fremont main post office sets new standards of incompetence in an already deeply incompetent organization. For years, we got mail that was addressed to a similar address. We never could find out if the other address was getting our mail. It took several tries to finally actually get all of our vacation hold mail. Now, despite having a confirmation of our change-of-address order, we are told that there is no listing for a change of address, and we've just lost three weeks of mail. If there was ever an argument for privatizing mail service, the Fremont Post Office is that argument. read more

I loathe this branch, utterly. It's my local branch, and they never seem to be able to handle anything properly. My house has been eternally stuck on a "training route" for carriers, meaning that whenever a carrier becomes competent, they're sent away. We have a regular ritual in the neighborhood, where we come out, pick up our mail, and head around the neighborhood to redeliver all the mixed up mail. In five years, I've easily had half a dozen packages go missing. On many occasions, I've received "attempted delivery" notices in my box, even after waving at the carrier through he window. The branch isn't any better. Long lines, a supervisor who literally runs to hide when he hears his name invoked, and a voice mail box that is eternally full. Three times in the last year I've had packages disappear in the custody of the carrier. When i visit the branch to inquire, they make all kinds of promises, but i never hear back. Today I will be making my second visit this week after such a package- this will be the third time I have tracked a package only to read that I was supposedly left a delivery notice, on a day I was home with the front door open not five feet from my desk. As this is the third such occurrence and the third runaround from the branch (They're always 'investigating,' but the supervisors seldom deign to speak to mere mortals), I can only assume someone in the branch is light-fingered, because I have never seen such staggering incompetence at any other post office. read more

Employees are grandfathered in the government anyway. But I always run into this particular African American lady who gives me a lot of attitude. I don't really bother saying anything to her. But this last time she took like 3 minutes to tell me I can't come to the desk with the package not completely sealed, in which time I could've just done it and mailed it. I'm surprised that I haven't written a review for this place. If you can help it, go elsewhere. I can't because this is where all of my packages go when I'm not home. Every time that I go to pick something up, or send something out, it's a big nightmare of a circus. It wasn't until recently that I've had such god awful experiences. I leave so frustrated that I have to keep my reactions to myself otherwise I would be banned from the place. It's not often that I need to go to a post office, but I've been avoiding this place as much as I can. The one incident that pushed me over the ledge was when they blatantly lied to me about a package that I had sent out. They claimed that the package that I had sent had already made it down to LA and back and that I had to not only pay for that round trip, priority shipping, but that I had to pay another one way trip because they had to send it out. There is no way that a package makes it from northern CA, down to LA, and back in ONE business day. So that was when my head was filling with expletives that would render this review flagged. It's not about the cost, as exorbitantly insane as it was, but about the fact that they actually thought that they could lie to me. So, was I going to pay to take the package back?! No way. I just let them keep it. Yup, that's what they do. They claim that they dispose of it but I'm sure they open them and all play rock, paper, scissors to see who gets dibs. So every bad thing that I cannot say on here, I will leave to your imagination. Oh, they also had me leave my contact info so that a manager could contact me. That never happened. This experience is probably one of the worst customer service experiences that I've ever had. I learned a valuable lesson, at least. I'm willing to drive an extra ten minutes so that I will not ever have to come here. That and I will be sure to ask my friends to send me packages via UPS or FedEx if they can. My business is going elsewhere, government facility. And that's all your fault. Goodbye, good riddance, and thanks for nothing. This isn't so much for the post office as it is the idiot postman who works there. My oversized package [being serious here] was left in the office of my apartments for me to get there,rather than being left either at my doorstep or available at the actual post office for pickup. The package slip didnt have my name or address written on it,just an apartment number.The front office has been closed and I have been unable to receive it now for two days,even though when I track it,it shows as being delivered.I'm about to go down there and cause a scene if this ends up lost somewhere. read more

Passport Service - I went in to apply for a passport so this review will discuss just that. Passport lady can only take a fixed amount in the morning and afternoon. You can't get a number in the morning for an afternoon time. I suggest getting there at least an hour earlier from when it opens. As for my experience there, I was extremely lucky and only waited for about 5 mins. I strongly suggest you complete and have all documents ready. It will make the process a breeze. I was done in 10 mins and half the time was taking my picture. So even faster if you have your pictures already. The wait will most likely be the worst part if you do your research and come prepared, but that shouldn't be too dreadful unless you're impatient. Well I have been here quite a few times. Usually to pick up a package, buy stamps from the self help kiosk, or get help with passport info. With those past experiences, I never really had a problem, primarily because I rarely interacted much with customer service. However, the other day I came here to send something using the flat rate box, and I was not at all impressed by the customer service. First of all, the whole atmosphere while waiting was dead and the workers looked like they didn't want to be there. I know that the typical stereotype for USPS workers is exactly that, but this visit definitely reinforced that stereotype. The girl that waited on me was lazy and rude. I told her I wanted to send something using a flat rate box. She rudely pointed to the adjacent corner where there were only 2 medium flat rate boxes left and said, "Oh flat rate boxes are over there, you get them yourself!" Okay that's cool and all, but damn she could've been nicer about saying it - after all I had just stood in line for like 15 minutes! So I get out of line and go help myself. Secondly, I had some fragile things I wanted to bubble wrap... they didn't have any. What post office doesn't have bubble wrap in stock? After getting my things packed away, I got back in line and reached the front. Lo and behold, I get Miss. Attitude again. She saw me closing up the box and smartly remarked, "oh your just gonna send it like that, with no bubble wrap?" LMAO. she was really testing me. I told her I had no other choice since the post office was out of everything except stamps. Overall, it shouldn't have been a headache to send something off. TRUST ME YELP, I'm not too big on complaining or chewing any business out, but geez I hope the manager sees my Yelp. They need to check their employees. At least those ppl are employed by the postal service!! There are so many ppl that would be willing to take their place and would be happy to work there. Minus 3 stars: -Not being well stocked. They were missing bubble wrap, flat rate boxes, labels, etc -Rude customer service -The workers looking misreable +2 stars: -For the other times I've been there and had better experiences -For the flat rate box invention. How should I start? I came because my mail that has more than enough stamp was returned and the message in the envelope was that there wasn't enough stamp. So I went to the post office to make sure I had enough. The lady that helped me did not understand my question (no she is not Asian and speak perfect English- just refuse to listen) when I asked her if my stamp was enough. She kept telling me the format of my envelope wasn't right. I kept arguing with her then why does it said I need more stamp the format is the issue? She refused to listen to me and kept going that how it was my mistake and that if I want to send it out- she can, but it will eventually be returned to me. Sarcastic much?? I was starting to boil and she called the supervisor. She told the supervisor that I won't listen to her. The supervisor look at my envelope and acknowledge that it was more than enough stamp and there was a mistake. She told me to use the right format next time and she will get the mail sent. The supervisor was nice. And I hope it will really get sent. I don't usually argue over $2. But when they can't even answer the most basic questions like "is there enough stamp to mail this letter" then I do get irritated. I can only hope the service quality to be improved. No appointment necessary for passport applications/renewal, but expect to wait in line for no less than an hour. They hand out numbers in the morning and if you don't get one, you likely will not be helped until the afternoon. They have a hard stop for lunch from noon to 1 pm, and then pass out numbers again when they return. They usually run out of numbers cards quickly since they stop taking applications at 2:30pm. They are very strict on the number of passes. There are usually two people working so it would've been great if their lunches were split to avoid closing that hour. Food for thought, USPS. Once you're in the room and you have all your paperwork filled with the supporting documents in hand, the process goes so much faster for you and everyone else behind you. For about the 10th time, I had put in a request for a mail pickup. My mail was delivered but my packages where left on the Side walk in the mail tote that says United States Postal Service on it. The best part of the whole thing is the person makes about 20 bucks an hour with good benefits and gets to pick and choose what parts of their job the want to do. read more

I'm a fairly patient person and I am polite even when I lose my patience. I show up to the post office knowing exactly what I want and I already have my forms filled out. So how is it that something that takes me less than 5 minutes at a different post office can take me almost an hour at this one? The last time I was here, I decided that I will do whatever it takes to not have to go to this post office EVER again. The machines had lines in front of them and I've had shipments returned to me because of insufficient postage, so using those are not an option for me anymore. After waiting about 45 minutes in line, it was finally going to be my turn. The person at the "business line" decided to start counting checks and shuffle things around at her work station. Once the other person working at the counter decided to leave, she finally called me up. I asked her if there is a better time to come to this post office, when the lines won't be as long. Here reply was, "Don't come on Monday". Then a guy who was beyond just being frustrated asked if she could call for help, since she was the only person working at the counter now and the line had at least 50 more people in it. She said ok and called for backup. The line had been this long since I got there!! Why should a customer be the one to tell this person to call for backup? I provide customer service as my job and my side business and I can usually sympathize with organizations that have to deal with short-staffing and long lines, but this place is crazy. You won't get a "thank you for waiting" or "sorry about the wait" here. I will pay more if I have to, just so that I can ship out from a place close to home. Otherwise my customers will have to wait until I go to work so that I can take my packages to a different post office on my lunch break. EDIT: I've had to pick up missed mail deliveries on two occasions since I wrote this about a year ago and I did notice new staff which was friendly, helpful and spoke clearly. I visit this post office most often since it's the closest for several miles from the Fremont city center. Kiosk's: are this locations saving grace, for sure! Soooo thrilled for them. I can send out packages (under a certain size) anytime day or night. Horray for automation. Plus three stars. Pick up window: is never open, they often baulk (or even bark) at people that drop off prepaid packages without waiting in line to simply hand them off. Minus two stars. Service providers: need to turn their frowns upside down! Lackadaisical employees that actually roll their eyes at people that do not have the correct paperwork filled despite the Post Office itself being paperwork unfriendly for the average user. Minus one star. Location: is easy to find with good signage and lots of parking. Plus one star. They literally lost one of my most important mail about a year and a half year ago and today they lost another mail which is critical for me. This guys just can't do anything right !!! When I first got my PO Box here, I thought the lady at the counter seemed a bit harried. So, I did a self-check and remembered that I too prefer when things are nice & easy at work; or at least when things are whipping & driving, that all the players are cordial, professional, and patient with each other. So I greeted her with cheerfulness and it seemed to be infectious because she seemed to relax. I remembered what great effect a good word & kind smile have done for me when I've needed a boost. Nonetheless, ths is a very popular Post Office! Most of the people I've come across there are kind and I believe the employees do a fantastic job of serving many people quickly & efficiently. However, a keyed box for retrieving packages after-hours would go far to lighten their load and mine. read more

Long lines, and waits with very little help once it's your turn. I prefer emailed receipts because they're easier to save. The credit machine asks which you would like but they always by pass it and you a printed one and then tell you there's nothing they can do about afterwards. Happy to be moving closer to the Newark office. read more
