I have been going to this post office since it opened decades ago. That's why I have more check ins on Yelp on here than anyone else. Service has always been excellent.. And I have had a PO Box here for almost 40 years. Only complaint. Poorly maintained exterior. Trash is often a mess. And landscaping is usually a total disaster. Gets cleaned up about once every other year.

If I could give ZERO stars to this worthless post office I would. NO ONE who works there has any customer service skills. They seem to all hate their jobs. On my first visit the lady labeled my priority mail box incorrectly. The second visit, an even more inept and rude woman over charged me by $80+. The second over charged package was never received by my daughter at college, even though the first package made it there just fine, once the correct label was created. The second package was returned to me in horrible condition. See photo. Fragile was written all over the box, but disregarded as you can see by the photo. When I brought this package to the post office, to receive a refund, per instructions on the usps website, I was met with no apology for the condition the package was in, as well as a "Nope, you can only get a refund online". She scribbled the website down on paper and that was it. She could have cared less. For anyone reading this review, take your packages to UPS. I paid half the price and was VERY well taken care of by the employees who love their jobs and the customers.

    Lobby is not 24 hours.

She didn't even stop and see if she caused any damages. She sped away. The parking lot has a lot of dead angles where people who shouldn't be driving come and go. Ahhh the beauty of Irvine shines through here quite brightly. It's not so much because of the poor service rendered by the actual postal workers that makes this location so terrible. It's the behaviors of the customers that causes a lot of delays and frustration. I am still experiencing secondhand embarrassment days later. Some are not the most prepared with their stuff before their turn. Like not having the address needed to send the package. As always, there's always someone who tries to haggle, complain about the prices, or try to get the whole transaction redone to switch to a cheaper no frills option. It's honestly astonishing to me how little concerns those expensive car driving people have for others once inside. Very low class and one of many reasons why I absolutely abhor Irvine area anything. Talking loudly on the phone and failing to realize it's their turn for example. Or trying to cut in line even though there's a long line of people. My goodness. I am just gonna stick with my neighborhood postal office. The amount of stress incurred by coming here is not worth it.

My kids and I came in around 3:30 PM and waited our turn like everyone else. While in line, we watched one employee, Monica, dealing with a very loud customer who was saying all kinds of things that clearly frustrated her. I get it -- difficult customers happen. But the problem was how it affected our interaction afterward. When it was our turn, Monica immediately seemed irritated. She asked if I was "sending this to Korea?" and then looked me and my kids up and down in a way that felt unnecessary and uncomfortable. She then proceeded to unwrap my already‑sealed package and tell me I needed to buy USPS "approved" tape -- something I hadn't seen mentioned on the USPS website. Still, I complied, bought the tape, and repackaged everything. We went back in line hoping we'd get the other worker, Michael, who had been smiling and friendly the whole time. No luck -- we got Monica again. As I set the package down, she suddenly asked, "Did you try to hit me with your box?" I was honestly stunned. I explained I only had one hand free and definitely did not hit her. Instead of accepting that, she insisted I "tried" to hit her and refused to help me any further. She then passed my package to Michael, who was polite, helpful, and even gave me tips for shipping to Korea more cost‑effectively in the future. The contrast between the two employees was huge. Michael deserves 5 stars -- friendly, calm, and professional. Monica... not so much. My kids even asked, "Why is that lady so mean?" Everyone has bad days, but customer service is a big part of working at USPS, and interactions like this make a stressful errand even worse.

I had heard that PostalAnnex specialized in multiple sizes passport and visa photos (Postal Annex came recommended to me for Chinese Visas - you can even pay them to fill out and submit the application for you! But I opted to do it myself but I still needed the photo). I called just to make sure and they told me they indeed do passport and visa photos (including for China) and when I asked if I needed to make an appointment - they said "no you can just show up anytime during opening hours but it's good to come at least 15 minutes before closing because the whole process takes about 15 minutes) When I showed up there was plenty of parking (it is located on the intersection of Culver and Irvine Center Drive in the main shopping center across from the McDonalds. There was also a sign on the window advertising that they do photos and the Chinese Visas so that was a good sign. The man who took my photo was very nice and knowledgeable - I liked that he seemed very experienced and had done a ton of these before. I also liked how he showed me my photo to make sure I liked it for final approval before he just printed it. You give them your email address for the digital copy and then you also get 2 printed photos for $24.99 which came to about $26 after tax. I just waited in the store (they have 3 chairs you can wait in and have a fridge with drinks to purchase too - or you can walk around the center while you wait). The woman Amrit who works there was also very reassuring and friendly and super helpful as was the man (whose name I didn't get). I chose this location because the other Postal Annex has received some negative Yelp reviews for unfriendly service but at this location (15333 Culver Dr) the service was OUTSTANDING and I will be coming here for all my future passport and visa photo needs! I decided to come here since most locations are either closed on Saturdays or have very reduced hours. I even visited a tiny USPS in Whittier recently that felt super deserted. The downsides are the fact that it is stinky inside (old people funk), and the person behind me got so close as if she was trying to cut the line.
