Received a notice on my door that I needed to pick up a package at the post office......... ugh! The post office is almost as bad as the DMV lines so I wasn't looking forward to it. The good thing is that I can walk to my PO but I was being lazy and I didn't. To my surprise..there was only 1 person in line. It was soooo quiet on a Saturday afternoon that I was shocked. *** Passport hours don't start until 10:30am *** This Post Office is right across the street from me, so it's nice to have one in the area. The people working at the windows try to be helpful. Emphasis on try... If you need to use the APC or just drop off a letter that's already stamped, (usually) no problem. However, if you're getting a passport, sending Media Mail, or doing something that requires you to approach the window, expect a 30 minute wait. If you're picking up mail on hold, head to the separate, slower-moving line at Window 6 and expect the same. Last time I went to this location, I was stuck in line between two schizophrenics who's personalities were talking to each other but never never stuck around to reply. Protip: If you know you're going to the post office later in the week, save up some low priority emails you can reply to while you wait. It will give you something to do. read more

This "Bicentennial Station", heretofore known as the waiting room in hell, has to be one of the worst post offices in the country. It is seriously like the post office that time forgot. The displays look like a 2nd grader put them together 20 years ago, and the entire vibe of the place is dark and dingy. You can pretty much forget about getting anything done for a while when you get here. But, who needs to be productive when you can listen to the conversation going on in front of you from the annoying person on the phone or get stared down from the person behind you like it's the end of the world and you have matches and clean water? So, why 2 stars if so much disdain? Because I truly feel for the people who work there. They do the best they can with what they have and are generally pretty nice about it. You have to give it to a group of hard working people that put up with postal customers all day in horrible fluorescent lighting and don't start screaming at people. I avoid this place unless I absolutely have to go in, but at least it's nice to know that when I finally do get to the window, there's a friendly face. read more

US Post Office Customers & Employees, On February 3, 2015, an employee by the name of Marcus answered my call at 4:58 PM, two minutes before they closed the office and answered my questions. I had asked if my package had arrived and if he could search for it, and he put me on hold and found it within minutes! Marcus told me that he'd allow me to come and retrieve my package even after they had officially closed, because he wouldn't be leaving until 6:30 PM. I told him that I could be there before 5:30 PM and he gave me two telephone numbers to call once I had arrived so that there wouldn't be an issue. This package was important to me, but apparently I was not home for delivery per tracking log, but did not receive a notice for this particular item and have received for other packages in the past, which I thought was a bit strange, but I told myself that Marcus' great customer service out weighed my questioning. I arrived before 5:30 PM and was able to ask for Marcus, and there he was, with my package in hand. He was an African-American gentleman, wearing a red shirt and dark pants, assuming that he was a manger or supervisor. Looking behind him, there were loads of mail, so to see him with my lovely package, was like hearing angels sing. Marcus didn't have to do what he did, he offered to. Which goes to show that even with all of these negative comments about this location, there are always a few that love what they do, or are trying to feed themselves or their family and understand what it means to offer great customer service! Yea they are pretty shitty. If you are here to collect your package, make sure you are waiting at the right area, otherwise they will yell at you and make it seem as if you owe them a living. I will review them for business use. I learned long ago to avoid the window clerks here, just a general sense of annoyance with customers, very little patience with people, and the speed at which they shuffle along to retrieve packages from the back would get them passed by a turtle. We ship a lot and used to request online package pickup from USPS dot com. They are spotty on follow through. I spoke to Mr. Ponce here, a manager, he told me he did not have staff to do the pickups of our business packages despite this being a service they advertise! We spend around $200,000 a year (literally) on their services, and he still tells me this? Finally after months of pushing and demanding, they started sending a driver to do afternoon pickups for about 2 weeks. Last week, it stops, and I go there to find out what happened. The other employees told me that guy is on vacation! I asked 2 tx to speak to Mr. Ponce, both times, after being told they told him I was waiting, he did not show up after 10 minutes each time. I emailed him too (I am that known a customer that I have his email) and no response. My only tip for here - take your packages with Internet postage to the back docks by 430 and ask to have your Priority Mail packages get on the truck leaving at 430 - you do not need to go to the front window, as this will slow your items down. Express Mail too leaves through the back at 430. If you go to the window after 4, they will tell you they cannot get it out that day. read more

I usually only come here if I have to pick up packages. Depending on the time of day you come, parking can be a nightmare. They have a very small lot. I usually try to come midday and it's not busy then. As far as package pickup goes, the wait times are all over the place. Sometimes you're the only one and can be in and out in less than 10 min. Other times there are giant lines and you're there for 30-45 min. FYI, the bell at the package pickup window is always broken. Knock if the door is closed. The labeling is pretty faint so I think many people just assume they're closed. The staff generally is very robotic, just there to do their job without any emotion. But, the few times I've needed help, there were a couple employees who came through. They do have self kiosks that I've used once. They do beat waiting in long lines if you're mailing something out. Man, people dog on this post office. I had a great first experience here. It was Saturday, mid-morning. I wanted to mail a package priority. I printed out the mailing label from the little machine outside the lobby area. Dropped it in the slot. Then I noticed that I was only supposed to drop things in the slot if they weighed less than what I had just dropped into the slot. So I got into line. Man, was I fuming. Here I'd saved all this time by skipping the line, and now I was in line. The line went quickly! I was at the window! The guy said I didn't need to worry about it because I'd used the meter! (The sign mostly applies to people who put their own stamps on packages because the PO wants to confirm the weight and postage.) I was out of the post office, into the park, and into the sun. This post office is in a great zip code neighborhood-wise. All kinds of great places to live and fun things to do. So why is the post office so freakin' messed up? We do not even get postal delivery and pick up every day. Sometimes I put my mail in the "out" bin and it is not picked up for two or even three days. What's with that? When I ask the postal carrier I just happen to see on the other side of my small street or on the small cross street if they are my carrier, none of them are! Wow. Weird. I thought the USPS was one of the most dependable things in the world; you know, rain, sleet, snow and all of that. Kathleen is almost like a stand-up comedian as she shuffles through the people in line, directing them to the appropriate forms and procedures. I had the most pleasant experience at this post office. Shelley was at the counter, and another lady was on the floor, helping people out with filling the forms and other stuff. She walked me through The customs form, and helped me choose the most efficient option to send my package internationally. Two counters were open and there was barely any line. Service was fast, very friendly, and I got in and out of there in less than five minutes. They had pens, and the box shelves were filled. I dont understand the hate at all, or maybe I came on a very good day. :) read more

Yes, the service is slow which is mostly due to customers not knowing what they are doing. You need one stamp? Go to the machine and put in some change. You need to pick up a package? Make sure you have tracking information or proof of your address (such as an ID). You want to mail a package in the US? You can use the APC, there are two of them in the lobby. I attribute the long lines to customers not being prepared (read up some info USPS.com folks!) The employees have never been rude to me and they have always handled my transactions quickly and smoothly. But that is probably because I come prepared with all my forms filled out, signatures signed, etc. Yes, some of the people here are rude. Not the employees, but the actual people in line. I've gotten into one back and forth with a vicious old raisin of a woman, but other than that, it's been a pretty positive experience. Expect the lines to be long. The staff have the worst attitudes, I asked if they can place my package in a shipping envelope for me that was already wrapped in twine and paper (I ship my products like this all the time no problem)and she basically screamed at me and said to remove the twine, that they don't ship it like that there. Needless to say I left and won't be going back. I usually ship by my house in Koreatown where they not only package things for me but never charge me for it neither and they are fast and friendly. Yes, I agree the wait is always gruesome. I don't know why. I had a postage due package and went there to pick it up. They could not find it. The women took my name and said she would call. I didn't expect any follow through. She not only found my package , she called and left a message, which I didn't notice. She then called again at 8:00 pm to tell me she found my package applied the money for the postage due I gave her , and that is would be waiting for me. Yes it's never fun to come to the post office but Mary makes the experience so much better. She moves the line along quickly. Some people think she's rude but she's efficient and demands the attention needed to keep things moving. She's so helpful and sweet as long as you're polite. Do not use this post office!!!!!!!!!!! I was trying to play It safe and drop off a package directly to the post office and not wait for It to be picked up in my building. I got in line and was told no need for window assistance to just drop off the ready to ship package in the drop off box. Worst mistake ever. The package was stolen, never scanned, no where to be found. I called the USPS location and was told to wait until the package reached customs ( It was going over seas). I waited and nothing on the online tracking system. I submitted a claim to the USPS and two months later the claim was closed due to nothing being found. Clearly someone stole my package, unacceptable, I placed my trust that my package would be delivered and this happens. read more

I've been to this post office at least a dozen times and unfortunately every employee has been a bit rough, dry and unkind. I leave usually feeling heavy and not interacted with politely. Today was a huge exception. Twyla helped me and goodness, she was not only sweet, kind and super helpful. She spoke so lovingly to me as if we were old friends. The customer service exuding from this woman is NEXT LEVEL. I even thanked her for her "happiness" because that is contagious and it shifts your whole mood and day. Thank you to this employee for waking up today and choosing to be kind to anyone she comes in contact with especially working in a customer service position. I often wonder how the other employees at the location work in a field that requires them to interact with others yet they do so harshly and terribly. Mind boggling. Absolutely the worst post office with the downright RUDEST and laziest employees that I've ever encountered IN MY LIFE!! I got there about 25 minutes before closure and had all my stuff ready to ship and when I got to the window the lady told me they couldn't ship my stuff because they stop shipping internationally at 2:30pm... are you freaking kidding me!?! - what a bunch of BS. No other post office has ever told me that before. I explained that it was a military care package and that my friend who's deployed was expecting this package and they wouldn't make an exception. Bottom line is they were just being lazy and didn't want to do the extra steps with stamping the customs forms.. complete laziness and horrible customer service! - EVERY EMPLOYEE HERE SHOULD BE FIRED!!.. I could here the other workers talking completely rude and condescendingly to the other customers too - they almost made one woman at the window next to me cry!.. completely unbelievable.
