Instead, I left frustrated and frankly disappointed by the level of service I received. The associate at the counter, Karen, was cold and unwelcoming from the moment I walked up. There was no smile, no greeting, and no effort to make the interaction pleasant. But beyond her demeanor, what really got to me was the lack of basic guidance. She never told me where to write the delivery address on my package -- something that takes two seconds to communicate and is a fundamental part of the job. As a result, I had to redo the labeling entirely, wasting both my time and my packaging. What makes it worse is that this kind of mistake is completely avoidable. A simple heads-up -- "make sure to write the address here" -- would have saved the hassle. Instead, I was left to figure it out on my own and then correct it under her watch, which was both inconvenient and embarrassing. Good customer service doesn't require going above and beyond -- it just requires the basics: a courteous attitude and clear communication. Today, I got neither. I'll be looking for an alternative location or courier going forward. Life is too short to spend it dreading a simple post office run. I feel bad for the Asian man who works here. I tried reading his name tag but I was unable to see. I come here a few times a week. I usually use self service kiosk and drop off. I needed to purchase a box but they were out of stock so I politely asked him if he had any more. He shooed me off and waved his hand to shooed me away. It was really rude. I was polite, I understand it can get busy but there was no line and the way he spoke to me was disrespectful. Another man asked him a similar question and he was just as disrespectful. read more

As Post Offices go.. had a great experience at this location on Marguerite. Located near the Mission Viejo mall this location has plenty of parking and drive up mail boxes for letters. Self serve postage inside or you can have someone help you. This one was open earlier than the one in Lake Forest so I was able to get my day started sooner.. nice. read more

I love that this location has a ton of parking. I was really surprised by the size, but also surprised by how crowded it was on a Wednesday around 11am. I think there was only 1 person working at the counter, so there were about 10 people in line. I really feel like they need to hire more people. I want to share with you a photo of the D&D stamps I bought. My best friend, who lives in Hawaii, said the Post Office has different varieties of stamps for sale. She suggested asking employees to see those ones instead of the default versions if interested. When I went, there was a display (somewhat akin to a small poster for lack of a more accurate description) of the unique stamps on the wall to the right of the USPS employee's station. The employee said they had run out of some of them and she showed me several sheets of stamps available. If you tend to take a long time making a decision, I suggest going early when there are few customers, or purchasing stamps through the USPS website. In my opinion, it would be better to not make any of the customers behind you, or the USPS employees impatient. Even though I don't play D&D, I bought these particular Forever Stamps because their artistry was compelling and they reminded me of the "Stranger Things" show. Some people don't use stamps so they may be apathetic about my review, but I use them from time to time when I mail birthday or thank you cards. Some may say Forever Stamps are a good value because they know when the cost of stamps rise, the Forever Stamps rise up to the same value. I felt like the employee helping me did a great job and I appreciate her being knowledgeable about the stamps the Mission Viejo USPS sold. read more

My mail was taken from my mailbox and someone washed my check and started trying to cash them all over. Also my mail comes three or four weeks after they were mailed. I got a thanks card from New Jersey at the end of February. My mail takes up to four weeks to be received by. I'm getting canceled on my insurance and late fees on my accounts. I normally don't like to write reviews and I'm sure nobody cares about a review of the US post office in this area, but I'm kind of at my wits end. I have had five pieces of mail go missing in the span of one month four of those had tracking numbers. I have filed a missing mail search. Nothing has been found. I tried calling. Nobody picks up. I went in to speak to someone. Nobody was available to help. What they say about government run services is true. I hate to be one of these people, but this place should be shut down. read more

CHECK YOUR RECEIPT if you are mailing out anything! I mailed out a package to my friend in Austria and the rude worker ended up sending my package to Australia, even though it said Austria in the package AND on the request form I filled out! The reason I say he was rude is because he was arguing and aggressively saying to me that the address I provided was incorrect, even though it was an address he'd never seen before, so not sure how he'd know that... I literally checked with my friend and made sure that the address was correct. I'm pretty sure he'd know as it's his home address... Anyway, I had to get on the phone with USPS and now it's basically just a situation of crossing our fingers and hoping the package gets rerouted to Austria or at least back to me so I can resend it to Austria. 5 Stars - Rothy is a Unicorn! I don't normally write reviews, but I had to give a shoutout to Rothy at the Mission Viejo USPS. She is an absolute unicorn -- so rare and exceptional, you're incredibly lucky to have her on the team. Honestly, if she were running the post office, it would be far more efficient than it is now. I came in for a simple overnight letter, and while helping me, Rothy was multitasking like a pro -- catching her coworkers' mistakes, answering their questions mid-task (without missing a beat), and still giving me excellent service. She seriously has eagle ears -- someone across the room asked a question, and she immediately gave her colleague the correct answer. Meanwhile, a manager briefly came out, saw the long line, and instead of jumping in to help, handed something off to an employee who looked like he was just there to pick up a check -- then disappeared again. It was frustrating to watch a strong employee like Rothy carry so much weight while management stayed in the back. What could possibly be more important than supporting your front-line team, especially during a rush? Rothy deserves a raise, a promotion, and a team that supports her. She knows her stuff and cares about doing things right. She's a total gem. To Management: Empower and support employees like Rothy. She is incredibly knowledgeable, efficient, and goes above and beyond -- but she shouldn't be carrying the entire operation on her own. Management needs to step up, be more present during busy hours, and actively support the front-line team. Better leadership and teamwork would significantly improve customer experience and employee morale. read more

They did it again! It is now up to 4 deliveries that they have lost! This time, we were out of town on a 4 week trip and I had placed our mail on Hold with the USPS. When we returned, they delivered our mail in a box and in that box was a slip showing they had tried to deliver a package, but nobody was home. When we went to pick up the package from the Mission Viejo PO, they said they sent it to a clearing house where they sell the packages. I said to get it back - they said they don't do that... I asked why did you try and deliver it and then sell it while we were out of town? They said that is what they do. I asked why can't you get it back? They said "we just don't do that!" The worker at the counter went and got a "manager or supervisor" that said the same thing. My mistake was not getting her name, but she was around 40 years old and had dark hair. I left the tag with her and wrote my phone number on the tag, and she said she would look into it and get back to me (of course now over 2 weeks later, we've receive no call from her at all). We lost an almost $500 outfit for my wife due to their incompetence! read more

It has been a year since last in the MV post office. I have since moved my shipping of small parcels using Pirate Ship. An app that works well and gives the choice of USPS or UPS. I was waiting for a package that required a signature, but the mail carrier never came to my door -- just left a notice in the mailbox claiming I wasn't home. My doorbell camera shows clearly that no one ever attempted delivery. When I went to the local post office (Mission Viejo Post Office), they didn't seem to care and told me the date on the notice was from two months ago -- clearly a mistake, but no one took responsibility. The staff was indifferent and unhelpful. Unfortunately, since USPS is a government-run service, customer complaints don't seem to matter. I mean, its the post office and its the week before Christmas. So be prepared to be patient and kind. I waited in line for about 15 minutes for Christmas stamps. I had no other agenda and was prepared to wait as long as it took. Then an employee at the counter announced to the line "We don't have anymore Christmas stamps at the counter." I thought she said to try at the self-service kiosks, but maybe no. I went over to one self-service line, only 3 people in front of me. Then a poor guy with a huge stack of Christmas cards was like, oh no I'm so sorry - these stamps are coming out one at a time. Yep, the stamps were not Christmas and they were printing individual stickers about 1"x2". Like what a postage machine would print out. He felt really bad that it was taking a long time but it's not like it was his fault. I went over to the other area with two self-service kiosks. HEY USPS--do yourself and everyone else a favor and FIRE THE ASIAN MAN who is repeatedly rude, unhelpful, and condescending towards customers. There's another Yelp review calling him out, and I also spoke to another customer who said she had dealt with him in the past and had experienced the same rude behaviors from him repeatedly. While I was in line, I also saw him be incredibly rude and condescending to a female co-worker. She was struggling to get the system working and trying to ask him what to do. Instead, he walked over as if it was the biggest pain in the ass ever and was openly exasperated as if she were the problem. She was obviously trying her best to resolve the issue and didn't deserve to be treated that way, especially not in front of a long line of people watching. As for my personal experience, I was trying to send a package internationally and he couldn't be bothered to listen and actually answer my questions regarding the customs forms. He also completely ignored my initial question regarding the online Click-n-Ship system. I had filled out all the info but kept receiving a message telling me to refresh the label manager and it wouldn't allow me to proceed. I was hoping that my time spent filling the label out online wasn't a complete waste and just wanted assistance with completing it digitally. Instead, he cut me off before I could even explain the situation, scribbled TO and FROM on my box. When I reiterated that the package was international, he threw a customs form at me and raised his voice while jabbing his finger at the papers, repeatedly telling me to fill out the customs packet instead. Of course I don't want to have to fill everything out from scratch AGAIN. I already did that online. But I gave up because he clearly didn't care and wasn't listening. I filled out the packets, came back. Unlucky me got him instead of the nice lady at the next counter, and before I could even ask my question about how to total the value and weights since I needed 2 forms to fit all of my info, he scribbled out what I had written and loudly told me that I did it wrong in front of all the other customers. FINE, I was confused about that anyways but only had the individual weights of items in pounds because that's the format used when you fill out Click-n-Ship online. I still needed an answer about how to fill in the totals. Is it per page or the total of all items on both pages? Guess I'll never know because instead of answering my question, he started trying to teach me how to convert pounds to ounces as if I were a fucking idiot--again, in front of an entire line of people. I was so frustrated, angry, and embarassed by the whole situation--I just left without shipping my package and gave up. I'd rather ship my package at 2x the cost elsewhere if it means I don't have to be subjected to this. TLDR; asian dude employee was extremely rude, condescending, and unhelpful. Go literally anywhere else, unless you want to experience frustration, anger, and embarrassment in front of an entire line of people. EDIT: In case any clarification is needed, the employee I am referring to was an asian man with short black hair working the counter around 5pm on May 23rd, 2025. As a Human Resources Professional, I am incredibly appalled by the disrespectful behavior of the staff at this Post Office location. I came in at 2:50pm to grab a medium sized priority shipping box as I already had my shipping label and package to ship, and the asian man working had already locked the doors and was standing at the door preventing customers from coming inside. As someone was leaving the store, again well before closing time, the asian man working was blocking the door so I couldn't get in. I asked him if he could grab me a medium sized priority shipping box, as that was all that I needed, and he completely ignored me. The woman leaving the store at that time also witnessed his rude and disrespectful behavior and she even commented "Wow, how rude of him! I can't believe he just ignored you." This individual needs disciplinary action because of his behavior which I'm sure has been an issue to other customers in the past. As an HR professional, there needs to be something done to either terminate this employee or a serious conversation needs to be had regarding his behavior as it is extremely disrespectful and inappropriate for a customer service role. I hope to never see this employee working at this location ever again. read more

First time at this post office - picking up mail for my mom who is out of town. I arrived at the end of the day, and anticipated grouchy people. I only dealt with Rothy, so I can't comment on anyone else but she was so helpful, polite to everyone and when it was my turn she was so patient to explain the procedure to pick up someone else's mail. She even suggested if I have any problems going forward to try to get in her line as she said she would remember me and be happy to help. After a long day of work and having to stand in a long line, she made my life easier. read more

Really terrible service. The line took an entire hour. When I finally got to the front of the line, Lou didn't acknowledge the wait by saying something like, "sorry for the wait" or "thank you for your patience." Customers in line were getting angry, and she snapped back at them that "it is what it is, too bad." I asked to send my package first class. She snapped about how I cannot send my package first-class, because first-class for packages doesn't exist anymore. It's called ground now. I said okay, fine, as long as it has tracking. I asked if she could put packing tape on the corners of my package. She slammed the tape down and said, "YOU DO IT." The tape didn't have any edges my fingers could grasp, so I simply bought a roll of tape to use. Rude, incompetent employees and terrible management. Awful service. I was very fortunate when I walked in there were 3 people in front of me. Only 1 employee serving customers. Lou came out , the 2nd employee came from the back office and said next. I waited maybe 5 minutes and Lou was able to instruct me to send a package abroad. She was pleasant and easy to understand i was delighted. It usually takes forever. I've been procrastinating to go to the post office for some time. I blame myself for the procrastination but today, i gain more understanding as to why. Maybe it will help me manage my avoidance of future post office encounters I've been to other post offices, but i have to say that this is amongst the worst when it comes to customer service. If you get one thing incorrect whether it's that the box needs to be tightly taped or it's the wrong label, you have to go to the back of the line and wait again. I've been to post offices, where they walk you through it accordingly. I also wanted to let people know that if you need to get a passport photo then you need an appt. it was an empty building and i saw a couple w their kids walk in, but they would not accommodate them for an appt. that was ridiculous and contradictory to the website, which says no appt required. Maybe I'm irritated today or maybe i gain more awareness that the post office is irritating, this one in particular read more

I came in to process a change of address for a deceased parent. I had the confirmation code from the usps online, the death certificate, the will, and the probate letter. The worker refused to process the change without the deceased person's id. When I explained that they were deceased and we do not have id, they laughed and said, "a card isn't hard to bring. It's not like we're asking for the body or something - that would be scary!" Not only do they not need the id, as later confirmed by the usps, but their "sense of humor" about my recently deceased parent was uncalled for and cruel. I came here for postage and certified mail of a letter. The place offers a range of services from P.O. Boxes to greeting cards, stamps, and passport services. I found the staff to be fast enough and the number of customers few enough that I did not have to wait. The customer service is a turn off because they try to upsell me on other services. The location is in an open enough place and there was plenty of parking for me. I liked the decor in a post office-ee style that it was. read more
