Unbelievable, if this were a non-government company it would have closed by now. This site messed up very unhelpful with a very basic description on how to fix the issue, over an hour later and I am being told I have to pay to have their screw up fixed. This site is entirely Unprofessional, unhelpful, untrustworthy, and disappointing. Also calling into the customer service line is 100% useless, they cannot help you and know nothing of the details. I will NEVER ship with USPS again, if this were business related I would have lost the customer. I help a friend with his home based business and we rely heavily on the postal carriers to pick up the outgoing packages every day. We set them outside the door with a large sign that says "Outgoing" in large bold print. However, just in the past month alone, the carriers have neglected to pick up the outgoing packages on 3 occasions. The carriers deliver mail usually before 10:00am and the regular carrier always picks up the packages without fail. But when a substitute carrier is assigned to our route, the packages tend to get missed. This has happened on multiple occasions since working for my friend over the past 3 years. The first couple of times it happened, I let it go. But then I noticed that it was happening more often, so I filed a complaint online. Right away, someone came and picked up the packages that night! However, a few weeks later, it happened again so I filed another complaint online. This time I requested to be contacted by a postal representative. On 12/4/23 at about 5:00pm, I received a call from a representative stating that our street is one of the first stops on the carriers route and said that the trucks are sometimes too full to pick up our outgoing packages and if that is the case, a carrier will make a second stop at the end of the day. To me, this sounds like a waste of resources but with the holiday season and the size of the trucks and amount of packages that need to be delivered, I understand. 6:00pm, no pick up service. 7:00, 8:00...no pick up service. Saturday came and went and our packages still sat waiting to be picked up. Monday morning I received an email from the delivery supervisor with an apology which began word for word the same way as the last email I received from him so immediately I knew it was not sincere and since this has happened so many times before and now two days in a row, I let him have it! I told him that his attempt for an apology was not accepted and that the representative who called two days prior to reassure us of daily pick up now looks bad and that we can no longer trust that a second stop will be made at the end of the day which I knew wouldn't happen to begin with. As long as the postal service has been in business and the continuous price hikes on postage and delivery service, there is absolutely NO excuse. Therefore, I reported the incident to the Office of Consumer Affairs. I doubt this issue will ever happen again but if it does, I will report it again and again until it doesn't happen anymore. I think organizations like the US Postal Service should expect to be held accountable for their lack of service especially when the price for that service continues to go up every year whether it's justified or not. I hope I was able to help someone who may have been dealing with this same issue. Just know that there are options to resolve it. You just have to be willing to hold them accountable read more

This review is based upon my experience trying to get a passport at this location during December 2016. This is my third time at this location. I was here before 10 am (note: that's when they open for passport work) and the line was ridiculously long. They need to hire more staff. It's just one girl who takes care of this passport line. Each person is about 15 min. They need to hire more staff. The first time I came here she told me to come back with a birth certificate that didn't say abstract on it. She told me she'll take me first in line once I came back. I come back and she's like sorry we are full. This is unexceptable, I waited in line for 2 hours. Such a waste of time. I don't think they understand how valuable someone's time is. They don't even have a bathroom here. You need to drive to the Starbucks across the street. ...Only plus side to all of this was the speedy process once inside. Also once she takes your photo she lets you pick. read more

The hours to get a passport is 2 to 330, however when we got there at 255, the woman said I don't know if we can take you. At this point, it's 3pm. According to you automated system, your open till 330, I'm getting in & you will take my application. The woman proceed to say, we only take checks or money order. I wish I could have zero star for this post office. my parents had an appointment for 2 to make the new passport. The lady was so rude because my parents can't speak English well. My parents had to call me to talk to her, I could hear her voice that was so strong and angry. My parents had appointment for 2, that mean it would be 30 minutes appointment, but only first 5 minutes, the lady said their appointment was over and she had another applications to do. My parents carefully filled out the application before coming and drove 30 minutes from Tracy for nothing done, WASTE OF TIME. That lady was SO RUDE and really BAD CUSTOMER SERVICE. Missed a package delivery at home. It requires signature - pretty standard. Followed instructions on the card they left behind, and rescheduled delivery. They then tried to deliver again, not on the rescheduled date. I again followed instructions, scheduled to pick it up myself in this post office. Showed up, waited in line, went through three employees none of whom could find my package, only for the supervisor to figure out its out for delivery. You can't deliver on the scheduled and agreed date. You can't hold a package for me to pickup as agreed Why are you a post office? read more

For passport service: -be here early (7:30 am MAY get you first in line) -bring all requirements (DS-11 form filled out in black ink, passport pic, proof of us citizenship, original passport if renewing, proof of identity) -do not sign form yet -2 personal checks or you can buy money order at time of application - kept mine blank until instructed to make them payable to US Department of State and USPS -for children under 16 passport renewal, make sure both parents and applicant are present, bring original birth certificate and current passport Please refer to Form DS-11 for complete and updated list of requirements. Today, they opened earlier than 9 am schedule so we'll get out here sooner. It helps that they have 2 lovely ladies checking people in line and screening for requirements. Staff is very professional. Okay, here is the story...I mailed out birth announcements for our son and apparently the lovely folks at the USPS could not keep track of all of them. It turns out that about half of our friends received them, and half didn't. Today I went to the post office to ask what happened and was rudely told that they must have been "misplaced." WTF?? How does that happen with half of something?? Oh well, I guess that is why most people just send out birth announcements via email. Boohoo... Oh yeah...one star for the automatic kiosk. Just infuriating. I recently had a package shipped from Etsy - the shipper confirmed the address and it was correct. The Post Office, however, said the package could not be delivered "as addressed," and provided NO FURTHER information. I tried to call the Post Office to let them know I could come pick it up and could never get through to a live person. I tried to enter a "case" on USPS.com and I held for an hour and could never get any response. Now my package is being returned to New Jersey and not a SINGLE person has contacted me although I've tried at least 5x. This parcel would never even been shipped if they had not broken/smashed my original order. The USPS sucks - I'm giving my business to UPS and Fed Ex from now on. read more

Update I received phone calls from both the Postmaster General and the supervisor of the Pleasanton post office. They both apologized and stated my mail should have not been sent back and I should not have been asked for any other documentation other than the death certificate I brought in. Unfortunately they don't keep a log of what mail was sent back. I am however, thankful that they did admit their mistake and take responsibility. read more

It is impossible to get help at this Pleasanton, CA location by phone. They have not answered the phone all week, the phone just rings incessantly until it hangs up on the caller. I was attempting to find out about a US Postal money order sent to them more than a week ago from another post office for box fees. Status information was not available online or from the 877 main number. It seems they have closed my box and I have no idea where the payment is. I will have to get a new box and update all of my information. The entire system is a joke! read more

Passport tips: get all your paperwork and photos ready beforehand. If you get there at 6am you can make it to your 10am meeting later that morning. Definitely get in line BEFORE 8am because that is when the big crowd show up. They only take about 20 applicants (not families, but individuals) in the morning and 7 more in the afternoon into the day's "list". If there are 30 people in line by 9am then the last three get to come back another day. The sign says passports start at 10am but the nice lady gets in and starts working sometime shortly after 9am. I went to get my passport today. They didn't open the door til 10am. The line wasn't terribly long but long enough. I waited in line until 11:40am with the line barely moving and this lady tells me and the person in front of me that they would not get to us until 2pm!!! So I am supposed to wait 4 hours in line because they are slow and I got there when they opened the line for passports! Are you kidding me!!! Not to mention everyone there was super rude. I saw the reviews on here and thought maybe it was a bad day or maybe it has changed. NOPE. This place is absolutely horrible. I feel sorry for those who have to frequent this place. read more

This postal office reminds of the DMV during the '90s when the staff and service were rude and slow that took their precious time during the busy hours. In fact, they actually made the DMV less painful and smoother experience. Passport lady randomly picks customer that she wants to serve no matter who's first line. Manager on site is also no help at all. As a govt employee, are they not getting paid pretty hefty to do their job properly? Maybe they should send these postal employees to work at fast food and give them the salary they deserve. With all the terrible reviews posted, Hopefully someone in higher position make some changes to this branch. read more

I was driving past the Black Avenue Post office in Pleasanton this afternoon. I saw a tractor trailor with US Postal Service written all over it and an ID number on the back end: AB1084. The guy was driving very slowly, holding up traffic, turning a corner in what was obviously a stick shift rig.... and when I looked at him, we was talking on his cell phone! Holding the phone up to his ear while trying to turn a corner, shift gears, and maneuver through a crowded intersection! October 2, 2008 at 2:01 pm... in case anyone is interested in who the driver was- it woudl be on his drivers log. I tried to report this to the USPS, but ALAS, I cannot find a way to do so on the internt! Can you imagine that? Do they not want to know when their drivers are committing moving violations and endagering citizens? read more

I often use the drive-thru drop boxes in the front and sometimes make use of the automated machines in the lobby, but today was my first time actually going in and interacting with anyone. I went in around 1pm this afternoon expecting the worst (based off what I had read in previous reviews) but I was happily surprised! Though the parking lot was half-full, the line wasn't too long at all. They had three people working behind the counter and another worker greeting people as they walked in and asking what they needed help with today. When she (I wish I had gotten her name) approached me, I told her I was just looking to purchase stamps.She filled out a little slip and wrote the "wedding stamps" on it so that my visit would be expedited once I got up to the counter and assured me that someone would be with me shortly. Almost immediately after she handed me my slip, I was waved up to the counter by another worker, Rita. Rita was very kind in greeting me and engaged in some small talk as she read over the slip I handed her, even congratulating me on my engagement :) She asked me if I had a sample of the card to be mailed with me (which I did) to verify the weight and measurements and make sure I got the right stamps. She was extremely knowledgable in reminding me that the cost of postage would be going up soon, she was patient in answering all of my questions about mailing my cards internationally. All in all, the transaction was not only painless, but extremely pleasant! ...and also fast! Pretty sure I was in and out in less than 10 minutes! One thing to note, since so many other reviews discuss the passport office here... I noticed a sign when I walked in that said that due to the high volume of passport applications, they would not be able to accommodate any other applicants and that the office was closed. I'm not sure how long that closure is supposed to be in effect-- just the rest of the day or for a longer period-- but definitely something worth noting. read more

Compared to the Dublin post office, this place is unreal. The postal guy that helped me today was smiling, cheerful, almost singing! Is this a dream? I've never had grumpy service here, even when lines were long. The parking lot is big enough, even during the Christmas craziness, and the lines move fast. I once brought in 30 cards that all needed to get a postage label, meaning they had to each be entered in the little computer, and the lady didn't blink an eye, she just did it cheerfully. The APC has always worked, which makes my life much easier. I'm in between the post offices and I always choose to go to this one; it puts the Dublin post office to shame. read more

Worst post office ever. They continue to forward my mail even though I have gone in twice to stop it. I have called 5x in the past 2 months to speak to a supervisor, and never receive a call back. ALL of my mail continues to be forwarded to Southern California and it is beyond annoying. My family is having to then send up my mail through UPS so that I receive it. It's always good to read reviews to get a feel of what your experience is going to be like but here, you have to be lucky to get that good experience. Went in at 6 to be denied at 9 to get on a "appointment list". The lady that does the passport, don't mind her face. Like at any other place where there will be multiple people waiting, the workers faces show how they feel about their job. & it just opened. Makes me feel sad for her. Only difference is they're getting paid to be there and we as customers take time to wait in line to see those faces. Ugh. Just have all your papers!! ID BIRTH CERTIFICATE ANY IMPORTANT INFO JS TO BE SURE (you'll nevr know) THE PASSPORT APPLICATION BTW- if you're printing the passport app from home be sure it is one sided. They do not take it if you did double sided. Make sure all persons who will be getting a passport is present. They do not wait. Obvi. Esp. Kids. They don't work with your work schedule nor your kids. So skipping school and work is the only choice. Like another yelper said, bringing a chair is best. However, I went in at 6AM and only 2 more people waited in back of me til around 8 is when the line started getting long. I don't know if it is always like that but go at whatever time you can in the AM. Better safe than sorry. Pretty sure that's it. I have to go back to get my passport this time, so I'll def be back for an update. read more

Not only did they take domestic as a priority but refused to ship my package even when people were free until there was no one in line at all shipping domestic. The post office "offically" opens at the time mentioned on the website. But if you are going in to get your passport, be there at 5AM!!! I'm not kidding. An official is present there apparently who takes down the names of the persons who come in then. You can go back home and come in whenever the usps opens. They go by the order of names of the people in the list and later the people who came in and are standing in queue only get the second preference. Hope this helps. This review is for passport services only. I attempted to make an appointment at several different facilities near Pleasanton. Everyone is booked for at least 2 months out so it was nice to see that the Pleasanton post office has a walk-in, first come - first served system. After reading previous reviews, I developed my game plan and everything was smooth sailing. I arrived at 6am with a chair and was first in line. Shortly after, several other people lined up behind me. An employee came out at 7am, took our names and gave us a time to return later that morning. I believe they only schedule 28 appointments per day. I returned later that morning for my "appointment" and was in and out in less than 20 minutes. Tips: This facility does take passport pictures for $15 and you actually get a total of 6 pictures. They use two for your passport. You get to keep the remaining 4 pictures, which we happened to use for our International driver's license application. Have all your paperwork completely filled out in black ink. Make copies of front AND back of all supporting documents (driver's license, birth certificate, social security and proof of citizenship). I saw them turn several people away for not having the right application and supporting documents so triple check you have everything you need ahead of time. They will not make exceptions. When in doubt, make a copy and bring it with you. Bring at least 2 personal checks. You will need to pay the post office for processing fees and pictures (if applicable) and the U.S. travel agency for the passport fees. They also accept cashiers checks. No cash or credit cards. The post office does sell cashiers checks but you have to purchase before going in for your appointment. That can be hard to coordinate depending on the time of your appointment. They do take some of your original paperwork. In my case, they took my birth certificate. I'm told they will send it back but if not, I can easily get another one. Not worried about it. The passport lady seems very crabby when she is managing the line but once you get inside the office with her, she is super nice and very accommodating. I followed all the instructions and took the advice from previous reviewers so my experience was easy. read more
