I've come to this post office location twice and both times I did not like the service. The workers are very nitpicky about everything. There's always an issue with my package on both times I went. I just ended up not sending my package, to which I went to another location and they were willing to accept my package. No problem. No issues. The parking lot is also very small and it's a one way entrance and one way exit. read more

Was reading the local Neighbors app today. One thread was complaining about the post office and the personnel. So want to update my review. Continue to believe my service from the UPSP is simply outstanding. Any worker I have encountered is professional and wants to be helpful. My regular carrier (Hugh who services me on 42nd and H route) is absolutely wonderful -- both in how he does his job and the care he has for his customers. My neighbors all feel the same way about him. So two big thumps up for the Post Office from me. read more

This location is a little hidden and on a very busy street, so keep an eye out! I needed to expedite a package to TX and the new gal that helped me was very friendly. She told my herself she was new and she seemed a bit nervous, but she did a great job! I didn't actually catch her name though, sorry!! This is the post office that no one knows about. Seriously. I've lived in East Sacramento for years now and had no idea it existed until I was on foot walking by and stared directly at it. It's a nondescript building set back from the street on a quieter section of J Street. Once inside, you'll get the same hit-or-miss service. The employees are nice, and I'm guessing that's because they don't have to deal with the irritated masses that frequent the bigger branches. When I want to get a package delivered in a hurry, this is where I'll go. Depending on the time of day it could be as empty and quiet as a library. Don't get me wrong, they aren't that much of a secret. You can still stand in long lines at peak hours. This is made worse by the small parking lot and limited area parking. There's a bank, a pasty shop and a dive bar next door. Depending on your experience, you have great options for after your visit! read more

Omg, I gave this USPS 2 stars not because of the customer service as that was fine. I gave it 2 stars because it had to be the first original post office built right after the Pony Express I swear there was a guy in the back, between the boxes, cleaning a musket. There are 4 parking spaces and 1 handicapped space...yes, 5 parking spots. I had to park across the street, go inside the business and ask was it ok if I parked my vehicle infront of their business, and then made the journey back across the street to stand in line. Because nothing about this review sounds ridiculous....ugh! Oh, and the post office sits between two larger buildings. read more

Got here on a Monday at 10:30 am. Had to park on the street, almost got run over trying to get out of my car then there was a couple people in line and the cashier told me they were shutting down after the last person before me. I should have read the reviews before even heading to this post office. It must be the worst Post Office in Sacramento area. They are there to just over charge you on everything. Not sure it's because they just do not have the required knowledge or just nasty people. If I were you I would stay away from this place. What a horribly understaffed post office during the holidays. Tiny parking lot with only a half dozen spaces so you have to park around the corner and walk. Then once you walk in, you see a huge line with people with tons of boxes and so many boxes in the drop off area, only one guy working. It was some sort of post office hell. No machines where you could weigh your package yourself. This place is the worst. Probably would be fine if you lived in a tiny little fishing village with few residents in Alaska somewhere. But not fit for East Sacramento and all of its people. I had to leave. Decided it would be quicker to walk to my recipients' homes to deliver my items in person than wait in that line. read more

I am so done with this place--it's convenient but at what a cost. First, I had an international shipping question for my business. The postal dude who works there told me the cost which seemed high, but hey, he should know, right???? My customer thought it was high too and cancelled the order. I went home and, after lengthy research, found an international rate half the amount postal dude quoted. I went back to post office (so much for convenience, right?) armed with this new info. Postal dude wasn't there. Another clerk assured me that yeah, the rate I found was indeed correct. Told my customer new, far cheaper rate but by now she was done with it and thought something hinky was going on. Thanks postal dude. I went back to this location last week (I seem to be a slow learner) to mail a small book to a friend for her birthday. I asked postal dude for the media mail rate (applicable to books). He lifted up the box and said, "small book", in a rather questioning, accusatory manner. "Yes it is," I said. Because IT WAS DAMMIT. My friend received notice from her post office that the package was being held for $1.94 postage due. When she picked it up, package was stamped "Not Media Mail". Wrong again postal dude. I'll now be going to another location where I hope there's a better chance of people actually knowing how to do their damn job. read more

This place is definitely a hidden hem. It is tucked inbetween some curb side businesses on J street. It is one block away from Rite Aid (using it as a reference since it's more visible and easy to spot) . You can park in front in one of the five slots, or if it's full you can park in the rear where the drop of mail boxes are located at. You have to drive in through a tiny alley way to get to the back, and the alley might be only one way in since I had multiple cars almost run me off to the side as I was trying to make my way out. I agree with Alex L that this is the post office that no one knows about. I easily drove by this place 2-3x looking for it and thinking, "does it exist?!". It is very nondescript building and you really have to be paying attention to find it. My GPS told me I had arrived about 2-3x! Inside, it's tiny. No giant big blue mailbox to automatically throw your large packages in (i usually just set it on the counter and someone that works there will grab it). There is an O.G blue mailbox right outside. Lines were long when I got there so I just dropped off my package at the side corner where a pile was starting. Parking was decent (I think there are about 4-6 spots. read more

Our wee neighborhood post office could really use some improvements! I'm giving it 3 stars because I *finally* dealt with someone knowledgeable and HELPFUL at this location just this week. So two stars for their one conscious employee. But after so many years of frustration, it's safe to say that customer service is the last priority here and it's overall a 1-star scene. I don't think there is a worse-run post office in the entire city. Honestly, I'd like to meet the manager and ask him/her WTF is going on. First off--the LINES are often long and SLOW. This teeny place backs up quickly. I always plan for a horrible wait when I am forced to go in. If it's around lunchtime, I don't even bother. I just drive to the far better-run Alhambra post office location. The employees move at a pace that would put a three-toed sloth to shame. There is usually just one employee helping customers. Even when the line backs up to 10 people, no one else emerges to help. Oh, they saunter slowly by, look at the line, and then casually stroll to the back room to hide or nap or whatever it is they do back there. I can't tell you how many times I've wanted to leap over the counter, grab them by the lapels, and drag them up front. I've even heard other patrons say "Hey, you--you wanna come help us, here?" Do they open another register? NO. Utterly infuriating. Parking here is an absolute disaster, too. Perhaps the postage-stamp sized lot was meant to be symbolic? read more

Entirely possible to pass by this location without even seeing it from the street. They have a parking lot, although busy and small. I just needed to pick up a certified letter that was being held here.. Arrived 30 minutes before close, boy what a mistake. Only one person working and eight people in front of me. Including one woman who couldn't make up her mind about how she wanted to send out 20 letters because of the price difference between delivery confirmation or not. It's understaffed and busy as most postal places are these days... Just don't go out of your way to come here if you have somewhere to be! read more

If this were any other business they'd be closed in no time due to a complete lack of customer service and responsibility to customers. My suggestion is to use any other service other than USPS if you want your delivery to arrive. It's impossible to get assistance when things don't arrive so you'll just be out the money spent on mail and packages. read more

I've been here a few times and there is almost always a lineup of at least 10 people so it takes some time to get some stamps. One time I went, I dealt with an older employee. I asked him for some stamps and handed him my envelopes. Without looking at them he said, "What kind of stamps?",and I said, "Canadian". He looked at me like I was crazy and said, "Sorry, you'll have to go to Canada to get those". This bizarre encounter solidified my theory that some of the postal workers used to be drug dealers [and gramps might have been a user]. They always avoid eye contact, mumble incoherently, and try to convince you to get your stash "in Canada". Maybe it's a code. read more

So frustrated with this location. In no way am I exaggerating....I have called them over 18 times in the last two days at all times of day and no one answers the phone. I am missing a package and wanted to check if its at this location. I called another location and they answered right away but said I needed to call my post office to check. Fat chance! I work so I can't go waltzing in at noon to talk to someone. I hate this place. The worst. I have actually been into this location as well and they are not the best at helping you either. First, I have had a series of different mail carriers in the past three months. How do I know? I work out of my home office facing the street. This has led to spotty and inconsistent service, e.g., mail being delivered at different times of the day, mail being misdelivered to the wrong address, etc. I would rank this in the annoying category. Today, I'd like to report an event that falls in the "travesty" category. I placed a mail delivery hold and asked that the mail be placed on delivery hold through October 1. On October 2, I waited for the newest postman to deliver my held mail. He said, "Oh, I thought you meant to deliver on October 1. I put mail right over there. Big package." ( A spot completely visible to passersby even though there were plenty of bushes to hide the package AND he did not use his reasoning to keep the BIG PACKAGE when he discovered no one was home.) Futilely, I attempted to explain the meaning of through vs. on. His response? "Not my fault." I called his supervisor, Diane at this post office. She reminded me that mail hold was a service, as if the USPS were doing me a favor. Then I asked if this guy would be held accountable. Her response? I refuse to fire my person!" I didn't ask that he be fired , but I did expect her to acknowledge that he exercised very poor judgment. It didn't happen. When I asked her her name, she advised me that privacy laws permitted her to not need to give her my name. I then asked to be transferred to her supervisor. "He's not in today. He's at a meeting." I have a PO BOX at this location and have for many years. The staff is always friendly and helpful. The only issues I have are the parking is very limited and there is often no spaces available and that you can't make a left turn from J street into the parking lot. Other than that I like the convenient location and this post office. read more
