I truly thought I was never going to see this package or it would be a multi-week endeavor, and Kevin was able to solve it in under 48 hours, all around the holidays no less!

I used to live nearby and found it to be small, but super convenient. This current post office is smaller than the original was. I still have a PO Box there, and have had one for almost 10 years. I stop by regularly to pick up mail, and occasionally stop in to mail packages and buy stamps. I still think the staff is one of the friendliest post office staffs around. There are a few staff members who are very kind and helpful. Though the senior staff member who always made sure they had the best stamps has long since retired, they still seem to have a better stamp selection than most of the post offices in town. However, my reason for the 3-star review is that this post office is much less convent than it was even a year ago. Now it doesn't open until 11AM. I often like to pick up my mail in the morning on my way to work. Though, the PO Box is accessible in the early morning, I cannot take care of any other business there. Also, this post office was very accessible when Macy's home store was open, but with that closed, the only nearby parking lot becomes chaotic by 11AM. Other parking lots are a bit of a walk, which is not convenient when you want to stop in quickly. All in all, this post office is friendly, but simply not as convenient as it used to be.

I realize that post offices everywhere are overworked and horribly understaffed. But the manager here shouldn't even be a manager as it is clear he hates his job. I've had no issues with other post office managers at College Area and Serra Mesa; they're actually really nice and professional! But this guy; I wish I knew his name but he is such a rude person who shouldn't be in customer service! And before anyone thinks I'm being dramatic and overly sensitive, I actually spoke about his attitude at the Tierrasanta post office and the postal workers there knew EXACTLY who I was talking about and agreed with me. They are just humming along and working hard to keep the line short. When its my turn which is usually after about 7ish minutes, its a short quick exchange and its over before I know it. They have two sides of the office. The right side is where I drop off my packages and the left side, I'm not sure what happens there. It says retail office. In the middle of the two offices are the PO boxes and a place to drop off boxes and packages after hours. That shaft is always overfull or doesn't work, so I always make sure I go during business hours. Make sure you read the instructions because only certain packages goes in that shaft. Parking is numerous but its a two way street and it's pretty narrow so proceed carefully.

Unwelcoming staff, chronic inefficiency, and frequent technical failures are the norm here. I'm sharing this particular visit because it illustrates perfectly what you can expect every time you walk through that door. I came in with the simplest possible transaction: a prepaid label, already purchased, with a QR code to scan and print. A 30 second transaction, tops. The self-service kiosk had a long line, so I made the decision to use the full-service counter instead. I waited 20 minutes. When I finally reached the teller, I showed her my QR code and was told, without a hint of apology or friendliness, that she couldn't scan QR codes and I needed to go use the self-service kiosk. The same kiosk. The one with the line. Back I went for another 20 minutes, after which my actual transaction took all of 30 seconds. So, 40 minutes, one needlessly rude employee, and a full-service desk that is apparently incapable of performing a function that an unmanned machine handles effortlessly. Par for the course here. If you have any flexibility in how you ship, do yourself a favor: go to UPS or FedEx. Save yourself the frustration and avoid this location in particular. They first said I could print one there and then after some genuine confusion on my end told me I would need to go to UPS or somewhere else because they don't print them there.... Y'all. That hazard label is for air travel. The shipping label is clearly marked as hazardous / GROUND TRAVEL ONLY. I went to a different post office, they looked at all the same return info, put a little extra hazard sticker on it and sent me on my way. Absolutely ridiculous waste of time.
