Hey, it's the Post Office. Does it really need a review? If you don't know what to expect by now, I guess you have never been! I will say I have been pleasantly surprised the few times I have been, of late. And less annoyed than expected. Typically everyone is helpful but with an abrupt approach, almost sighing at those of us who don't know everything "Post Office", like we've been working there for years. I am always satisfied and missions were always accomplished without much of a wait, so maybe there's something to be said about abruptness. Big open post office with lots of PO Boxes. Also an office for passports and stuff. When I arrived shortly before closing on a Saturday the line was short, but by the time I'd figured out what I needed to package up a large lumpy stuffed animal the line was kind of long. Staff was friendly and helpful, even when I was trying to hurry and wasn't really listening to what he was trying to explain to me. The building is pretty but that's about it. Honestly, I don't blame the employees. This location is just plain understaffed. This past weekend a friend needed to get his passport so we stopped by. Get here early. You don't want to sign up after everyone else or you'll be here for hours. Got up later than I wanted to on Saturday and got to this location at 9 o clock. By the time we signed up, we were 18th in line. Yes, 18th my friends. The first person on the wait list hadn't even gone in yet, so the first person who got here straight up took 30 minutes to get all their paper work signed off. 30 minutes late, and with each person taking 20-30 minutes to get their passports figured out, we left and came back 2.5 hours later. Thankfully, there were people on the wait list that just got up and left so after 3 grueling hours, my buddy finally got to go in. Absolute nightmare. Just take the bullet, wake up real early, and go be the first in line. At least then you don't have to waste half a Saturday here. read more

This review is for the passport office. My experience at the Santa Barbara Main Post Office's Passport Office was 100% wonderful. I was treated with exceptional care! The passport application specialist who helped me had me in and out of the office quickly, but while also acting with expertise and great patience. I had all of my documents and photos on hand, but needed photocopies to complete my application, and she made the copies and added them to my application in a flash. She also identified and helped me to correct a mistake in my application, potentially shaving weeks off the time it will take for my passport to get processed by the State Dept. This is the worst ran business if you call that my business, in the nation. Not one person knows what's going on here. I get a international package sent to me which if you're not home he will not leave at your door but I don't even get a notice that it's here pick it up at the post office. Worst experience ever!! 11/24/18 This the first time I write a review and I felt I need to because of how awful My son was treated. I came to obtain a passport for my boys 7 and 8 . My 7yr is a special boy and he was super excited to get his passport and get his picture taken . however , every became such a nightmare . The lady who was suppose to help us was so so rude ! I apologize the first time when my son wouldn't stop talking about a teddy bear she had in the office. I let her know that he was very excited to be there today. I gave him my phone to have him play while I finished up signing papers but when she saw him with my phone she snatched it off his hands!! !and thru it on the table she even yelled saying "I know he is special but I'm just done" when my son continued saying he liked Christmas. I was about to stand up and leave that place if it wasn't because I need their passports to travel for a family emergency. I left that building in tears today . This review is about the passport office here. Scouting mission last Saturday to inquire about documents needed and to get an application. There is a sign up sheet in front of passport office, as this is first come first serve. There were two parties ahead of me. I waited about twenty minutes and was called in by a pleasant enough gentleman. He told me what I'd need to bring document-wise and gave me an application after I explained my somewhat unusual circumstances. Returned today at 2:00 (two and a half hours before closing), was called in within one minute of arrival. Same polite gentleman provided efficient and pleasant service, took my application, gave me a receipt and explained the timeframe for regular processing (six weeks to receive passport in mail) and that I can check online or by phone on the status of my application. I parked one and a half blocks away. I noticed that from the time I left my car to the time I returned, my whole passport expedition took, wait for it, 25 minutes! Woohoo, would recommend in a heart beat. PS they do passport photos there too, super convenient one stop shopping! read more

I mean.. It's a post office, the bar isn't set particularly high. Regardless, it is a really nice looking post office, especially the outside architecture. Inside lobby is big, with PO boxes lining the far side. Parking is rough, all 15 minute street parking around the entire block. Service is hit-or-miss, often my mail ends up in somebody else's box (or vice versa). PO box lobby is open Monday through Friday from 6am - 8pm, as well as regular Saturday hours. read more

Came from Camarillo to get a passport for my daughter. The wait wasn't bad compared to our local passport office in Oxnard. But the passport clerk was so mean! She was completely rude. Worst customer service I have ever received. We were there on Feb, 28th, 2018 at around 5pm. We couldn't believe how horrible she treated us. She was condescending and snide with us. And she also made a point to say "do you guys live in Camarillo? Why didn't you go to the Oxnard office? I always get they're overflow here." We went there to get passport for our son Friday afternoon, there were about 7 people ahead of us but the line moved pretty quick. The employee who helped us was very courteous. She took a photo of me first to make my son feel comfortable about the process which was very nice. It is incredibly apparent that this is not a customer service based office. Every interaction I have had with the postal employees has left me frustrated and insulted. Twice postal employees have commented on the size of my household, as if it is any business of theirs. Despite filling out a change of address, much of our mail is being held by the post office instead of being forwarded to the address on file. With service such as I have been given by the Santa Barbara Post Office, I understand why our postal service is running a deficit in the billions: gross mismanagement and antipathy. read more

I don't know anything about the architecture of the building, but style and no substance would define them well. Their service is beyond terrible! It's irresponsible and negligent. I mailed a package recently and they blithely have no qualms about the idiot "new carrier" who didn't know better and left it exposed, out in the open for anyone to take. And obviously, "anyone" did. Is it the lay-back seaside resort atmosphere that has allowed Federal law regarding US mail to be ignored, starting with the mail carriers? They need to wash some of that sea salt out of their brains and get their act together. Oh, I forgot to mention, this is not the first time they have not known what their carriers are doing with packages, but eventually those did show up. (I DO pay extra for Delivery Confirmation, etc).
