Why can't they consistently deliver mail to the correct address? We regularly have our mail delivered to neighbors.

As others have mentioned, this location is convenient, but if you have any business that requires interaction with a human, make sure to allocate plenty of time, especially while students are on campus. I have had a PO box here for 20+ years, mainly because unlike some offices, i can collect mail 24/7. The staff is nice enough, but the front counter never seems to be staffed with more than 2 people, and as there is no stamp machine, scale, automated post office, or any other user accessible services, you are always consigned to standing in line, which is frequently long. The service is universally slow. The package collection window is rarely open, and the staff gets annoyed if you ring the bell, despite the signage telling you to do exactly that. Packages arrive (or so the online tracking tell you), but they want you to wait until they drop a slip in your box, which may be a day or more. They may search if they are not busy, which really only happens during summer session, when there are no students around. My most recent problem is that they placed a call slip in my box, dated the 1st.. I discovered it on the evening of the 2nd, and appeared with it at the counter on the afternoon of the 3rd to collect my package. One problem: They were unable to locate my package. The clerk xeroxed the slip, took my name and number, and promised to call when they located it. It is now the 25th, and I have returned to the counter 3 more times. All I ever go here for is to pick up missed deliveries. Should be quick except it's hard to have someone answer the bell for help. Very slow and unhelpful. read more

Is it possible to give zero stars as that would be too complimentary for this usps location. The location does not make usps packages which are by tracking available for at least 3 business days subsequent to their availability. They also do not answer the phone during business hours. Clearly understaffed and inadequate to meet the demands. The USPS needs to take action to correct the inadequate service. read more

I am a Stanford parent my daughter is a senior. Each year we have had issues with packages not getting to her. The most common issue of me paying priority rates and the packages getting to her so late that I would have been better off to have sent it regular mail. So parents do not send anything that is time sensitive because odds are it will not get there when you expect.I cannot tell you how many birthday gifts have arrived a week after the intended date. It is very frustrating and I have wasted a lot of money. The post office has been our worst Stanford experience. read more

They did a great job helping us with a passport renewal, and did so efficiently and in a friendly manner.

Nice people at the counter. I've been here several times and never had any trouble. Reasonably quick work, considering they don't get a single break in the line throughout the day! Which also means, there is definitely going to be a line considering the daytime population of Stanford, and the amount of postal work going on here - but it aint the post office's (PO) fault is it? Realize that the postal volume of the University is so high that it has it's own zipcode! And there is only one PO to serve this huge volume generating community. Parking is trouble - but again, the main reason for the PO's location is to serve the students' staff's needs. And they don't need parking. Any one else can do the same thing that students and staff do without complaining - park elsewhere and take the free Marguerite shuttle to the PO. The location is designed to serve this purpose. For people from outside Stanford - it is not even easy to reach here. Why would anyone want to come to a Stanford PO from, let's say, Palo Alto, Menlo Park, or Los Altos when there are POs in these cities already? read more

This post office is terrible and survives only because Stanford students have to use it. Service is unfriendly and rushed. About half the time my packages have the "DO NOT BEND" stamp on them, I find them haphazardly shoved and folded up in my PO box. I've complained to them several times about this issue but the staff is uncommunicative and they refuse to listen to complaints. My friends and dorm-mates all have their own horror stories of this post office. The package pickup door isn't consistently open, and the staff yells at you for ringing the bell if nobody is there. (Even though there's a sign that clearly asks you to ring the bell for service during open hours if the dutch door is closed). It's frequently understaffed and it causes an extremely frustrating process to both receive and deliver mail. I routinely receive the slip for 2-day priority mail sent to my PO box two or three days after the expected delivery date. Even when the tracking numbers say that it's been delivered to the post office, they don't let you collect until that package slip has appeared in your PO box: this system adds at least a day or two to pretty much every package. (Add more of a wait time for the beginning of the quarter when everyone's getting something mailed). If you pre-pay and print a package slip online, then you can just walk up with your package and leave it on the far right counter without having to wait in line to drop off your package. Don't expect the package to be registered within the hour, though; I've often checked on a package only to find that they waited until after five to scan it and start it on its voyage even though I dropped it off before noon. read more

Miserable service. I get notifications from USPS that a package is there, but it takes them HOURS or days before it is actually available to give to me. If you put in a hold request - don't expect them to do it on the correct days. It seems totally random - they won't deliver your mail while you are still on campus and return what was sent to you weeks before they should. The line is always miserably long. Rosa could not have cared less or offered a more unprofessional attitude. USPS web site and USPS phone operator informed me that an important package was at the Stanford post office. I brought the email notice to the Stanford PO and spoke with Rosa. She refused to check for my package or look in her system to locate it. I ended up driving to the downtown PA and bayshore EPA locations looking for my package. Went back to Stanford PO and in five minutes someone else located my package and explained to me in a clear and professional manner what happened within the USPS system. Rosa needs to be in a position where she does not interact with customers. Hope you can avoid her. read more

The Stanford Post office has been closed for days. I've tried to mail a packet to England last week and again today, but the p.o. is closed ostensibly due to the rainy weather---even though it's bright and sunny now. The one agent on duty, who will not accept any packets, would giuve me no answer about when there may be a reopening. Very annoying. read more

Went to this post office today and had another experience totally archetypal of the way they tend to work. One woman was working the front and the line was ~15 people long. Then it grew to 20. One of the other workers came out, went "oh we have customers!" proceeded to type on one of the computers for about 5 minutes, and then disappeared again into the back. The manager wandered by, stood and watched the line for 5 minutes, and then went back into his office. Meanwhile the line was ever-lengthening and there was one poor lady at the desk doing her best. The package line was closed because there was no one to man it so those people all started joining the line. The other 5 or so workers who have worked the desks many times I've come in kept moving past and noticing us but no one sought to help and I spent a good half hour waiting to send a single package (which took all of 30 seconds once it was my turn). The folks there are incredibly friendly when you do make it to the desk but their idea of a functioning system or how to run a business doesn't exist. The line backed up and got in the way of opening the front door. They never seem to care about how long things take for their customers, I've had waits far longer than a half hour right when they open at 9, at random times when everyone's in class, or at the end of the day. This post office has some employees bordering on being scammers when treating customers to pick up packages sent to this office for "General Delivery". The web page labels "general delivery" as one of the available services at this location. However when I picked up my item sent here, the clerk want $75 in cash from me to "register as a customer" or she would not give me the package to me. I refused and she returned it to sender as a revenge. I wanted to talk to a supervisor but she said supervisor was not at the location. Every time I went there to see the supervisor she said the supervisor was not available. I think USPS should investigate this office. I am a RVer touring the US in the last couple of years and has been using general delivery all over the country. This is the first time in my life being asked for $75 in cash to receive a mailed item in a post office for general delivery! I hope this review alert other potential customers. read more
