Got a quote for $379 dollars for a battery, labor, and reset computer costs. Well the 2017 VW Passet does not require reset. If I had the option to give negative points, I gladly would. Horrible place! To start with, the guys out in the shop have absolutely no manners--they don't ask what you need or even say good morning or good afternoon. Zero courtesy; just a dirty look, as if to say, "What are you doing here?" I took my car--a white 1995 Corolla (so the workers there know exactly who I am)--in for a smog test. They took hours to run the test, and the worst part is you can't stand there and watch what they're doing to your car to verify it's actually being done. At one point, when I peeked over to see why they weren't finished, one of them was looking at and feeling or moving the car's bumper. That wasn't necessary; I didn't bring it in to have the bodywork checked at all. In the end, the three guys outside were just chatting while the car sat there turned off. Why didn't they come in to give the diagnosis or say it was ready? No, they kept me waiting for hours. And the result, amazingly, was that it failed--supposedly because there was visible smoke, the gas cap wasn't closing properly, and--obviously--high emission levels. So, I went to another place--a kiosk that only does smog tests--and guess what? My car passed. Why? Because the car is in excellent condition--ZERO SMOKE! This is the part that really stood out to me: when you drive your car, you know if there's smoke or not. The guy at the kiosk told me they should have shown me the smoke. Of course, they didn't, because there wasn't any smoke! The kiosk guy revved the engine twice and showed me there wasn't a trace of smoke. And the gas cap closes perfectly, of course! And don't even get me started on the emissions! I've had so many things repaired on it, and I know they're done right because I did the work myself! I know about cars. All they wanted to do was rip me off! What for? ...so I would have my car "fixed" there to pass the smog check, and so they could charge me thousands of dollars. Just because I'm a woman, they think they can pull a fast one on me! But they were wrong; I proved it by going straight to a smog-only station, and the car passed perfectly! I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS PLACE AT ALL. They lure you in with low smog test prices just to take advantage of you and squeeze more money out of you! Terrible work, terrible people--"mechanics," I suppose. The only kind and attentive person is the guy at the counter; other than that, they aren't worth it! I've built race motors and I know I could literally re-torque the bolts and it would be fine. Oh, and it needs shocks. I was told they wouldn't do an oil change again unless all the work was performed, because it was a liability for them. There is no liability! You informed the customer of any recommended repairs. It's on the customer! BUT, They offer financing with no credit check. I can't imagine the interest rate! And a few days later I noticed they left greasy handprints on my hood that collected dust. Another day, another cheap... wait, free? I had a nagging in the back of my mind to google some cheap smog checks after I saw an ad while driving around. Lo and behold, USA Auto Service (and their sister brand Purrfect Auto Service) appeared to be offering $9.99 smog checks as per the coupons posted on their web site. I decided to go today in the late afternoon. This location was the most convenient for me. Unlike the $18 smog check stations at some other businesses in around South Boulder Highway, this is also a mechanic. So instead of just pulling in or whatnot, I decided to walk into their small lobby / waiting area and told the employee that I was interested in a smog check while placing a printout of the coupon on the counter. The employee asked me for my key, then inquired as to whether I'd been here before, to which I replied no. Then she requested my zip code, which I gave. FYI, it's a nearby Hendeson zip code. At that point, she dropped a bomb and said it'd be free, but just tip the mechanic. So I did. I gave him the $10 which I was intending to pay anyway, and he handed me the usual printout with fees totaling up to $9.99. I'm not one to look a gift horse in the mouth, so I didn't ask why it was quoted as free. I will say that the key takeaways are that it was about as fast as any other local smog check, and it was cheaper. Just how much cheaper may vary for some reason, but if it's $10, it's still worth it if you're in the area. Hopefully, their other locations would work just as well if you live elsewhere. As for me, I think I've finally found my go-to spot for the absurd annual smog checks on my still fairly new hybrid vehicle. read more

I take care of my car with the utmost priority and recently I had a code lit up on my dash. I failed the smog cert and need to take it to the repair shop to further deep dive the issue. It was a Saturday press for time and my regular shop I take it into was booked. So I look on the smog repair list and seen this shop was close to me. I took it in right when they opened and the nice lady up front told me it would be about 30 min to diagnose the problem. About an hour and 10 min later the lady went to get the person who was I guess diagnosed my car and asked me like (what's the problem?) "can I help you"? I told him I wanted to know the status. He said he's still working on it and I left like i was the problem. Comes back in calls my name and said he texted me the quote. I start looking at the quote and he's got transmission oil change (which I already did I took off my entire pan to change the oil with a new seal 2 months ago), (steering fluid, brake fluid, cooling system flush, fuel injection cleaning) all which have been done and added $1,000 other repairs that are not necessary. The total proposed repair after 1 code that the smog center called out was a total of $2,167! He told me 4 codes came up defiant like I had to get this done. Did one of the codes that came up also said you need your fluids replaced again and didn't check or to ask me? LMAO!! I am all for needing to get repairs done that IS NECESSARY but to come in and quote me all these repairs without even having a discussion after the response was "it's all related to the emissions you know??" was beyond me. Meantime I had to get out of there and called my mechanic told me to come on down he'll make room for me. Dropped my car off.. got it done AND he included the smog certification all for $600! All he did was replaced the part exactly what the Smog center said that needed to be replaced. This guy sits out on the shop and quotes all day long to meet a quota for the shop owners and sees what sticks. Lesson learned.. you think you can go to these repair shops and have some kind of trust that they will look out for you. This is not the case with USA Auto Service. I feel for people coming in this place that don't know better. Be warned. They are a bait and switch company. They will add repairs to your car that isn't necessary and make you feel like they got you! Ridiculas! read more

I needed to get a smog check for registration so I took it to USA because it's only $10 I pulled up and they said they would have it done in about 10 minutes and they were right they came back to me. Unfortunately I didn't pass because I needed coils which I already knew And spark plugs and he said he would go ahead and do a fuel injection cleaning I was scared because at Hyundai they wanted 1200 just for the coils, however, he came back to me and said it would be 800 for all of it and I was like please do it. he could tell I was disappointed because I had other errands to run and he promised me he would have it done as quickly as possible and I thought oh I'm gonna be here for at least three hours Hyundai usually keeps it for half a day. But surprisingly enough he had it done in an hour and a half. I was impressed, what he told me he backed up and now I have to drive it for a while before I can go back and get the smog. If I could give negative stars I would. Paid $7200 for a "new remanufactured motor via Alex and Marco the "managers"" come to find out. They put in a used motor not remanufactured. They cut corners and are extremely unprofessional with attention to detail. I received the truck as "ready" just needs a fuel pump to pass smog. So I changed the fuel pump, truck was still struggling. Come to find out they voided my warranty because I "repaired" the truck myself even though the fuel pump has nothing to do with engine warranty. The district manager hung up last words he said was " read the fine print" so much for customer service!! Upon further inspection the intake valve runners were stuck on close. That's part of the engine. When I brought up the issues as an install problem on their end they denied any wrong doing and said I was to blame. $7200 down the drain and I still can't drive my truck because I have no idea how to fix an intake runner being stuck close. They took me through a financial nightmare. Lesson learned. Do your due diligence. Get EVERYTHING on video and writing also record all conversations. It will help when they don't follow through on their promise. They deserve to get the business license ripped from their hands. Horrible experience all around. STAY AWAY!!! read more

As they are checking the obd2 codes for smog the tech is under my hood. You do not need to open the hood for a smog in Nevada. Came in for a smog check and the white mid aged lady at the front was unbearably slow and had no urgency to provide service. She kept checking her phone during my check in and also kept mixing her paperwork up. At the end of the service she was taking even longer just to ring me up. The mechanics and smog tech are nice and friendly, they do the work very quickly, but the service at the desk is terrible. A smog check should only take 10 minutes, it took TWO hours for me to leave this place. She needs to be retrained or reassigned immediately. Also, one of the techs who did an inspection on my car left oil stains on the driver carpet when they moved it in the shop. They put a 'thank you' detailing paper to cover it up but they should've been more mindful for their customer's vehicles. read more
