Got the $55 premium set which included the American and Australian Wagyu cuts. They had 2 additional meat with the seasonal finger ribs which I recommend trying! I love how this place offers ayce soda, a variety of sauces (spicy, brisket, fruit soy sauce, miso, etc), and the draft premium malts suntory which is only sold in Japan. It was one of the best beer I've had in Japan and not many places sell them here in the US. One thing I did wish they provide was wasabi which would pair well with the meats. read more

Fast and great service from the staff. Ambiance is not too loud and tables are pretty spaced out. Food comes fast and fresh. Would return next time as it was enjoyable first time. We came in at around 5pm to check in for two on a Saturday night and waited about an hour to be seated. Honestly not a terrible wait given the hype on social media it's gotten, though I would definitely plan to get here no later than 6 if you wanted to be seated within 1-2 hours. The food was excellent and if you come you should only be coming for the wagyu menu as that's the best bang for your buck and overall quality and taste. Aside from this the most stand out part of this find is the service. We had the pleasure of having James as our waiter and he did an OUTSTANDING job. He made sure our grills were cycled regularly and continued to check up on us throughout the night even with a packed house. Tried Ushiya on their opening day 3/7 after discovering it on IG the night before. They took over the old MLBB hot pot location. It definitely looks bigger inside than before so that's a plus. As soft openings go, they had their share of waiting for the food to come out, unclear understandings of what was offered, and mix ups here and there. Unfortunately I can't tell you which meats were good because neither could the servers. They tried their best but I believe there's more training/prep to be done there. From what I could figure out, the beef tongue, short rib, and pork jowl were my favorites. The food quality was without a doubt an A. They have 2 tiers, $35 and $55. I think either are good options and would not disappoint if you're looking for a good meal within your ayce budget. We had high expectations going in because the reviews that we read. We did the premium menu, which was $55 a person. There were 3 of us. The premium menu included a bunch of wagyu options, but honestly it did not taste like wagyu at all. The meat was pretty tough, and we really couldn't figure out how they could be classified as wagyu. It all tasted ok. The appetizers - the tofu was great, sweet potato fries yum - everything else was mediocre, especially the bone broth soup. It was busy on a Thursday night but we were able to walk in, no problem. It was easy to find. We had a large party. They auto charge 18% gratuity for party of 6+, 20% gratuity for party of 10+ and 22% gratuity for party of 12+. We ordered the regular tier of meats. Please beware soda isn't included in the regular tier. We asked numerous times and told it was and in the end was charged for the sodas. We didn't notice until after paying. They refused to provide a refund even after acknowledging their mistake. The grills are uneven which made it very difficult to cook on. Don't bother with ordering chicken as it will take forever to cook in the 1.5 hr time limit. The selection of beef is ok. Don't get the beef fingerlings as they are super tough. The appetizers chicken karage, squid tempura, takoyaki, eggplant, are good. Beware when ordering the seaweed salad it comes in a tiny saucer. There is only 1 toilet in the bathroom. I don't think I would return on this principle alone. There was a worker waiting to use the bathroom. She was scrolling her phone while waiting. When she went into the stall I can hear her play reels. When she left the bathroom she didn't wash her hands. I had hope about this place as friends raved about this place. read more

Unexpectedly great meat quality for $35 base price. They also use heavy iron grill compared to kbbq places I'm used to so it retains a lot of heat. The burnt bits don't accidentally come off as easily because of the grill so you can grill on it longer before needing a grill change. The only thing I didn't like was the eggplant appetizer and mixed raw vegetables for grilling. The eggplant didn't have much flavor and was bland. There's no good chance to grill the vegetables and they end up absorbing a lot of the charred flavors of the grilled meat. Will try the wagyu menu there next! read more

I went to Ushiya Grill on a Friday around 6:30 pm. The restaurant was almost full and had a ~15 minute waitlist but I think because my party was only 2 people, we were seated in a couple of minutes. The service was great, you can order 6 items at a time and it comes out very fast. The servers were friendly and working hard. Inside the restaurant, it has a lot of seating and is kept clean. The one thing I noticed is they didn't have hoods over the grill, yet the smoke in the restaurant was well kept. They must have great ventilation. We got the $55 wagyu AYCE and I was really glad we did. We got to choose from both menus. We tried maybe 80% of the items on the wagyu menu and there were definitely some that stood out more than others. If you opt for this menu, I would recommend doing the same. We also ordered from the standard menu and I really enjoyed the thick beef belly. Their thick cut pork belly wasn't very thick as I expected. Overall, I'd rate it 4/5 because there was a lot of variety and the quality was good but not necessarily excellent. I would come back again though as this is a great option. read more

Two options available for ayce tiers of 35 for angus prime or 55 for wagyu ayce. The open flame grill was nice and the meat quality was there with marbled meat and different variations of wagyu. So many options of meat!! Ordering was super convenient thru qr ordering system after the first round that you can order w server directly. The miso eggplant was a bit too burnt and mushy for me not what I expected so didn't like it and wouldn't order again due to texture. I liked the variety of sauce options they had and how some of the sauces were on the table side. Wish they had more venting though, inside was quite smoky and went home smelling like bbq meat. I was invited back to Ushiya Grill with a complimentary meal after my previous experience, and I really appreciate the effort to make things right this time. I noticed several improvements right from the start. Tables were already set up with side dishes, scissors, tongs, and a water jug which was something that was missing during my first visit. That small detail made a big difference in setting up a smoother dining experience for us. Customer service was much better this time. I appreciate the hard work they're putting in. Staff were more attentive and seemed more organized overall when it comes to taking orders, taking plates, and grill changes. As for the food, my favorites were the short rib which was juicy, and the calamari which I loved! While the overall meat quality on the premium menu was decent this time but not mind blowing, I still feel like the premium price would be more justified if there were a wider variety of menu and side dishes, like other known AYCE restaurants at similar or cheaper price points. A broader selection would definitely make it feel more worth the cost. We went last week on a sunday night. My children took me there for my birthday. I went to pay the bill for 5 of us. My son not knowing i had paid went up to cashier and paid again. How can a closed and paid check process again? When we got wind of this my son called after we left the restaurant and they reversed my credit card. But Tuesday I got charged $ 66.33 for what the owner told me when I called him is the service charge on a table of 6 persons. Mind you the 6th person was a yr old baby who did not eat. I explained to him that my son left a tip on his credit card and he told me that he would reverse it. Instead he charged me twice the 66.33. I had to call the bank to dispute . Food was ok but slow service. I ordered a hot tea and I was told they ran out of tea. But charged me anyways for the tea. Will I ever go back or recommend...no way. I am thinking I will report them for illegally charging my credit card the $ 66.33 twice after we had already left. The owner told me that they did not have a floor manager nor himself. This explains the bathroom that was filthy with paper all over the floor and filthy mop bucket in the middle of the bathroom with exposed cleaning chemicals. Also they leave all the dirty plate containers right in dining room and actually in front of where we were sitting and they are clear and black dirt and grime all over them. Since I went on a weekday and needed a grab-and-go option, I skipped the weekend AYCE (which looks amazing) and got the 4 Proteins, 2 Sides Bento Box Special for only $24. This is seriously the best deal for high-quality Japanese BBQ when you're craving it but don't want to cook or spend a fortune! The value here is incredible. You get to choose four different proteins, and they come perfectly cooked! My favorites were definitely the Beef Bulgogi and the Beef Yashibabu--both were super tender and flavorful. I also added the Marinated Chicken Thigh and Beef Brisket, which were excellent additions to the box. The meal also comes with steamed rice, a Ponzu Salad, and a side of Beef Broth Soup. Seriously, do not skip the soup! It was rich, savory, and a total standout--way better than just a standard miso soup. Had a really great experience at Ushiya on one of their preliminary opening nights! My cousins and I ordered from the $55-per-person premium set and thought it was excellent. I especially enjoyed their AYCE tartare, it was quite similar to the kind of tartare I ate in Korea. All of their other meat selections were very good as well, we enjoyed everything. They provided salt and various dipping sauces on the side as well as side dishes. I will say their grills weren't getting as hot as they could be, so it was taking a while for the meat to cook. But the hostess did apologize profusely, say that the restaurant was trying out these grills and considering changing/adjusting them, and even took our meat to the back kitchen where they could be cooked and brought back out to us. I don't expect a new restaurant's first few nights to be perfect whatsoever, so I'm not going to hold it against them.
