Friendship BBQ is a must-visit for anyone craving authentic Chinese BBQ. Their menu is massive, ranging from well-seasoned, tender lamb and beef skewers to adventurous options like chicken gristle. You can choose from spicy or non-spicy options and even with non-spicy, the flavor is abundant without being overly salty. A perfect balance. The drink selection is just as impressive. Whether you want a cold beer to pair with the spice or some soju to share with friends, they have you so many options. They also offer great non-alcoholic options, including refreshing herbal teas and sparkling fruit drinks, several that you can't easily find in similar restaurants. With quick service and a lively atmosphere, it's the perfect hangout. Be sure to try the fried skewers and the black truffle fried rice--they're next-level. Just get there early to beat the wait!

The same skewer sauce is used for many of the skewers and grilled items: most go fine with it, but some are just okay. Try a foil pot! The lamb and beef skewers are really good and are reasonably affordable too. I'm still searching for that "lamb skewer straight from a Chinese street cart" taste, but the grilled flavor is satisfactory enough. I didn't enjoy the gristle, the chicken skin, the pork belly, and the grilled enoki as much, though, since the sweet sauce used for all of them doesn't quite go well with everything else. The restaurant gives you a small foil platform on which to hold the skewers, slightly warmed by a candle, but I wish the skewers stay warmer longer. The sleeper hit was the tofu foil pot - addicting soup flavor, and everything in the dish really soaks in the hot pot flavor. I'd probably stick to the foil pots and the more traditional meat cuts for skewers if I go back. I did see IV bags with beer as well, seems like a fun time.

Food was good! Not the greatest in terms of crispiness for foods that need crisp like chicken skin and fried buns but the sauce has a lot of flavor! The beef and lamb skewers were good and all the veggie dishes were good! The miss you beer was fun idea like IV pole but the beer was flat unfortunately.

I visited around 10:45pm on a Sunday and it was pretty crowded. The restaurant itself was small. I waited quite a bit for my table, despite there being 2 tables that were ready to be busked. I think the 2 wait staff members were overwhelmed with the crowd and didn't get to cleaning the tables. Once I was seated, I ordered by scanning the QR code. The wait for food took a while, but it's typical when it comes to skewers. I enjoyed most of the meats that I ordered and the cucumber salad. Although the wait can be long, I would definitely come back again!

I've been wanting to try this place for quite some time now as it was always being advertised on DoorDash. I decided to try it in person as it was less than 10 minutes away from my house. Firstly, I immediately wanted to try their skewers. The grilled chicken skin skewer was my top pick as I love peeling the fat off of fried chicken. I'll admit I was a bit disappointed as it wasn't as crunchy as I expected. Pushing that aside, I still enjoyed it. So if you order that, expect less of a crunch and more of softness. Tasty nonetheless. The beef skewer was delicious. It was very tasty and it went very well with the Fried instant noodles. The fried instant noodles were full of flavor and I truly loved it. I highly recommend this combo. The bone narrow personally was super tasty & I loved the bread it came with. It was honestly the best combo of flavors. 10/10 recommend. Food was tasty and filling 10/10. The guy who was in the front was extremely kind and attentive. He made us feel very welcomed and appreciated. I'll definitely be coming back to eat here again.

Came for dinner and there was no wait for a table. Ordering was easy through qr code and the food was brought out as each were ready. The portions were plentiful and the food was nicely seasoned and cooked well. Overall a good skewer place. They had more variety on the menu as well that were not skewers. Will have to come back to try more of the menu!

First time here and everything was good. Small restaurant but food came out fast. They cook everything in the back and kept warm on a foil tray at our table. The hot pot skewers and spicy noodles soup were my favorites.

We have been coming back here often for the past 6 months or so. I think they had changed ownership because service had been improved a lot and we don't see the staffs we saw years ago. Food options are good, wish they still have the spicy frogs, and perhaps add the unsweetened ice tea option... but beer woks for now. Our favorites are their spicy noodles and duck blood, very tasty and perfectly cooked. Skewers - mostly on point but sometimes it can be too salty. The braised big bones were very tasty, we recommend using the sauce to eat with some rice/noodle. Bone marrows were grilled to perfection too, not overly burnt like the time we had years ago. I do order their crawfish sometimes if I crave for some crawfish, but they're not fresh so it could be hard to peel. If you come here when they're super busy, the staffs can be forgetful sometimes... but just give them a reminder if they forget to bring you things, they'll get that to you right away. Overall, good place to chill and snack on.

Came here with a friend and was pleasantly surprised. The grilled fish was definitely the highlight--crispy on the outside, tender inside, and packed with flavor. We also ordered a bunch of skewers, including beef, chicken skin, and sausages, and everything came out hot, well-seasoned, and perfect with a little extra spice. The portions were generous, and the food had that authentic late-night Chinese BBQ vibe. Service was quick, and the atmosphere was casual and lively. If you're craving grilled skewers and spicy grilled fish, this place is definitely worth checking out.

First time having and it was fire! Tiffany loved the burrito and bone marrow. I couldn't get over the spice rub and how good all the meats tasted The spiral potato and the pork belly and mushroom combo was out of this world will 1000 percent be back!

    Ana B.

The meat was overdone and rubbery. The seasoning was alright. if anything I'd just come back for the squid. Also $10 for a choy lettuce is waaaay overpriced. Some notable mentions: - Enoki pork: 3/5 but get the fried one. It's not crispy, but more flavorful than the grilled version - Garlic oyster: 4/5 - Corn: 2/5. There were no notes that it would have the spicy, numbing Szechuan sauce so didn't really enjoy. it.

Food poisoning alert! Beware! My husband got food poisoning after eating from this place. He vomited everything out the same night after the meal. It proved food was unclean and contaminated. A pretense of real BBQ that pre-made all Barbeque food and reheat on a pretense of two-tiny-candles-lit stove, this place is CRAP! Everything tasted bland and flavorless. The only passable meat was chicken. Portion was small for the price. Customer service was terrible! They intentionally ignored us because we placed limited order as first timers. They "forgot" our last item and we had to chase the waiter for it and it took forever to arrive while other latecomers got their food fast. How unprofessional, inattentive and biased! Unappealing decor. The bizarre message written on wall in Chinese was pretentious. Loud place filled with young, drunk and obnoxious clientele. Friendship BBQ focuses more on making money than "Friendship". The worst part - it makes you sick. I did NOT like both food and service at all. Won't be back and do not recommend this place to anyone.

My husband was having an event for a group of students and I needed to come up with a menu quickly. I decided to try Wagon Wheel. They have a whole Catering service. I've been to 3 others Redwood City BBQ, South Winchester BBQ (San Jose), and Canyon's BBQ (Castro Valley) and I've reviewed most of those quite favorably, except for 1. But they have about 4 others that I haven't been but are on my list. I guess now I'll know they are more the same than they are different. I knew walking in that I was going to like it. A strong aroma of wood smoke hugs you upon entering. A cool mural outside, lots of beers and bbq on the tables, cool tunes that was all over the place genre wise. 2 Meat Combo ($26/4.5*) Crazy solid combo. Not as juicy as I would prefer but between the perfect smoke content and their seasoning just makes me happy enough. Brisket: Their brisket is awesome. Not as juicy as some of the top notch places here in the Bay, but the flavor was perfect for me. Assertive smokiness without being overbearing. Get a piece with a good layer of fat and it was basically hearty beef bacon. I rarely put sauce on brisket but theirs is not bad, maybe just a dot or 2. Ribs: Also drier than what I like but the flavor and meaty texture was enough for me. Definitely have to pull these off the bone a bit, does not easily fall off, which I actually prefer. I like toothsome versus mushy meat. These ribs do have a layer of bbq sauce cooked into them, so it has a sweet and tangy flavor already in it. But they still can accept extra sauce, as it will not only moisten the ribs further but it will amp up the tang and sweetness that pork ribs are natural for. Tried 2 sides, beans and coleslaw. The beans aren't the super sweet kind, which I liked. More chili-like very hearty and complimenting to the smoky bbq. The slaw was perfect, crisp with a creamy yet slightly sweet dressing. Crazy good, I could actually eat their sides alone as a meal. Their corn bread here is strange. It is cooked in a sheetpan and cut into squares much like a brownie. But that square is then griddled til golden brown so I totally thought it was garlic bread at first. The other bbq spots I tried from this same company didn't make corn bread like that, so this was a first for me. Probably the only miss for me here. Also tried a half pound of Tri Tip ($20/4*) Very meaty that they were able to keep it a nice pink medium, which I like. But much milder in smoke than their brisket and ribs. I ended up making sandwiches with these at home. They are sliced pretty thick so you may have to slice some of them further. It bites easier in thinner slices versus monster thick slices that will pull out of the bread with each bite. I learned that on this out so just throwing out a tip. A solid bbq throwdown with a cold frosty one, plus lots of leftovers for work lunches the next few days, is just an out I can repeat over and over. Glad I found this spot!

The location that we went to is located next to Maggiano's Little Italy in Santana Row on Olin Ave. There is a free 2 hour parking structure across of the restaurant where my boyfriend and I parked at. We came during their Lunch Specials (until 4pm) and Happy Hour (from 3-5:30pm) which worked perfectly as we wanted something smaller in portion compared to the dinner portions. We started off with drinks. I got their Pig Ol' Bitties Blonde Ale, and my boyfriend got their Friday Beer & Shot special of This Little Piggy Went to [Mark]et with a 16 oz Dirty Little Pig IPA and a shot of Benchmark whiskey. My fault for having him get a whiskey shot on an empty stomach, though HAHA. He did like how smooth the whiskey was at least! We shared a 2-meat BBQ Lunch Combo Plate, and honestly, we should have gotten 3 meats because of how tender and delicious everything was! We got their Tri Tip and Sliced Brisket with their Garlic Mash and server recommended Sweet Potato Tots. Ahhh, everything was so good! Aside from the tender, flavorful meats, the two sides, especially the garlic mash, were sooooo good. We both loved everything! It was definitely a great choice coming during lunch as we were quite full after ordering one of their happy hour shareables of Chips & Queso (kind of pricey even for happy hour in my opinion for chips and cheese). Honestly wished we got their Chili Cheese Fries or their other fries which were the same price than just chips and dip LOL. But it was a good hold over food with us drinking a bit (at least for me). Shoutout to the only server who was working on a late Friday afternoon as she was doing her best to accommodate everyone + trying to clean up the previous tables. It was kind of sad seeing that the other workers didn't help bus the tables in my opinion. Overall, a great place to watch sports and have some good whiskey as this restaurant is known for their whiskey selections! The lunch BBQ exceeded our expectations, and we would definitely come back for another lunch special meal but probably with 3 meats this time!

The banchan is generous with a great variety. Love that you also get a lot of pickled onions and fresh green onions to help cut through the richness of the meats. Ordered the beef tongue - chewy, but superb. If you haven't tried it, order it. Also the wagyu a5 and brisket which were equally delicious. The place does get crowded so reservations seem the best way to go. Fun place for a nice treat to enjoy Korean BBQ
