So now to receive mail we have to go into the post office, which is the most poorly ran post office I have ever seen. There's a line out the door because of how nonchalant and slow they are. I had to show my ID and a previous envelope addressed to me in order to get my mail, for which the clerk, Maria, took out of my hands without my permission and then took out of my sight to her "supervisor," for a period of no less than 10 mins. This is shockingly unethical. I then had to plea in order to get my ID and mail to the supervisor who was extremely rude and said "I'll give it to you when I'm ready." I am not only shocked at the unethical and rude behavior, but the levels of complete disregard for common sense. Not only are they refusing service, they are forcing me to come in to their office for a reason that does not have to do with me or my address, give them my ID and then without explanation or consent, take it behind closed doors for an unsettlingly long time, again without my permission, and then when I ask for it back I get met with extremely grotesque attitude. The clerk was possibly Asian, Chinese or Korean. 5"6 male around the ages of 50 +. Shout out to Neisha, Sally, Joe, Hazell, Rudy, Chad, also to Kimberly their supervisor who helped me couple times! You are all so amazing, I am always happy everytime I visit because of your energy! The staff are all fast and efficient, they are all very friendly and make warm conversations, they also take the time to double check your packages and always give informative answers to your questions! We also did our passports in this location and they were very quick and made the process smooth and easy! They were so patient with our children as well! My kids love them! Even while the line was growing, he continued to acknowledge everyone waiting, letting us know he saw us and that we would be next. As we waited, other customers passing through the lobby greeted him warmly and said hello, which spoke volumes about the kind of person he is. People in the lobby were smiling and friendly as well. We couldn't believe how pleasant the atmosphere was, and we went home and told our daughter, who encouraged us to write this Yelp review. I'm especially glad we did because I noticed another review that appears to describe the same visit. Based on the timing, I believe the reviewer may have been in the lobby with us. From what we observed, the line was getting longer, and this young man was working hard to keep things moving. He repeatedly asked the customer at the counter to look at the screen and answer the required question about whether the package contained hazardous things or fragile chemicals. The customer in front of us and my wife both commented that it seemed inappropriate for someone to be looking at their phone while the lobby was full and one employee was working hard to help everyone. Regarding the review criticizing the clerk for commenting about phone use, I think there may be another side to that interaction. We weren't close enough to hear every word, but from where we stood, it appeared the employee was simply trying to complete the required questions and keep the line moving efficiently. In my opinion, customers should come to the counter ready to complete their transaction. If you need to search your phone for information after reaching the counter, it can slow down the line for everyone else. Everyone is entitled to their opinion, but employees can be unfairly judged when only part of the story is shared. Based on what we witnessed, this employee remained courteous, hardworking, and professional throughout a very busy period, and I believe he deserves recognition rather than criticism.
