Utopia Cafe has captured my attention for many years. Whenever I visited the district, I was drawn to its beautiful facade, yet somehow, I never ventured inside. Today, we decided to try a new breakfast spot and finally came here. The interior exceeded my expectations, transporting me to a Parisian cafe, only more spacious. Every corner was beautifully designed, with impeccable attention to detail. We placed our order at the counter, received a number, and chose to sit outside. We ordered both American and French breakfasts, along with cappuccinos. We swapped the pancakes with the toast . Everything was halal, including the Haribo jellies, marshmallows, and delicious Turkish treats displayed at the counter. The kids will undoubtedly have a blast here. Our breakfast was fantastic, with generous portions and everything on the plate tasting delicious. The cappuccino was excellent as well. The servers were courteous and friendly. I wanted to try the pastries but was too full, so I'll save them for next time. I will definitely be visiting again. read more

tl,dr: elegant brunch spot. Likes: + Their English Breakfast platter was an absolutely enjoyable eat. Diverse range of nutrients and ingredients all around. Various proteins. Vegetables & fruit. Bread & butter. Yum! + They play a culturally diverse range of music here. English, Hispanic, French, classical tunes~ + Polite staff. + Very pleasant setting. Feels elegant and evocative of European ambience. + The Breakfast platters are great quality for the price. + Tip: Yelp check-in for a free black coffee. Interesting that they offer free macarons for Yelp reviews. Non-likes: - The staff seem very busy. Seems once they bring out your food, you're on your own. They don't check up on you. - Their Soujouk Kashar Panini seems unhealthy. No vegetables or fruit. I had to order add-on lettuce and tomato. 3 extra dollars! - When I first ordered lunch and showed the Yelp check-in redemption, the staff forgot to bring me the coffee. But thankfully they gave the coffee when I ordered my to-go dinner afterwards. - The Yelp check-in offer is for a "Hidden House Coffee". Turns out there's nothing particularly "hidden" or "house" or secret about it; it's just a regular cup of coffee... - I should've requested decaf, because it might've been what kept me up past 2am. - Their online breakfast menu webpage doesn't work. Also, their ONLINE ORDER and FREE LUNCH buttons don't work. I had: $16 Breakfast platter: English + $12 Soujouk Kashar Panini + $3 add lettuce & tomato + free coffee + tax = $33.48 read more

One of our favorite breakfast places. My fiancé loves getting the French breakfast and I've tried different things every time I come. We've come to this place for years now, back when the seating was seat yourself first come first serve but they've gotten much more popular since then. They now have a host who seats you, however you still order at the counter and then find your table number to sit. They will then bring your food out to you. The drinks are great here and the baklava is really flavorful. Our tried and true French breakfast never disappoints us. I tried a new menu item, spinach wrap, and it wasn't bad, but I probably wouldn't order it again. It was overwhelming with egg. I usually order the chicken pesto sandwich and that never misses. Ambiance is so cute and the decor is very unique. I love this place and am so lucky to live so close. read more

Food is so good here! The Strawberry salad is really really fresh and light doesn't have too much sweetness in the dressing. The Turkish sausage is always a hit. I got a breakfast plate and it was included in it. We also tried the sausage sandwich. It's called sujhuk sausage. Super flavorful and thin slices. The ambience is so nice. It's super packed on Sunday for brunch and it's decorated beautifully. They sell things inside like tea pots and Turkish coffee. The latte art was also so adorable. Coffee is strong. read more

I went to Utopia tonight with a friend to celebrate my birthday. It was my first time, and I was very impressed with the aesthetic--from the design to the way everything was served. This place makes you feel like you are in a café in Paris. Super cute decor and they serve your coffee with this gold tray contraption thing that makes it a little bit more fancy. They have outdoor seating. The hostess will give you a number and put it on the table as you go up to the counter and order your food. When done you go and sit at your table with your number and they will bring you your food. We had the French platter and a side of pancakes. You could tell the croissant was freshly made and the sausage was delicious and very flavorful. The little strawberry preserve was fresh. The side of pancakes were only six dollars and you get two small pancakes. These pancakes were so good. Like lightly crispy on the outside but light and fluffy overall. I wanna come back here and try more dishes next time I'm in town. 10 out of 10 I would highly recommend. read more

I've visited here about 4 times now and I have to say each time the food was amazing! The staff is very friendly and attentive but not overly. It feels like an actual European cafe when you walk in. There is indoor seating as well as outdoor. It's very clean and also has treats and objects for purchase on the left wall. I recently ordered the Utopia Latte, which was delicious and pretty. I ordered the Parisian omelet with potatoes, it was also very good. I will continue to visit this gem. read more

Super cute! Really loved the vibe and they served my cappuccino so cutely. I got an omelette (I think the French one?) and my mom got the Parisian platter I believe. Omelette- toppings were good & omelette was HUGE and fluffy but the egg itself (the omelette was just egg & cheese topped with ingredients rather than filled) was pretty bland. Also a bit disappointed by the "side salad"- just oiled cucumber. Plate- the croissant tasted reheated but the rest of it was good! Brussels were a bit oily but tasty. Sausages were the star. Truly I'd come here for the ambience and their coffee, food is pretty good but nothing amazing. Service was fine, the guy who took our order was sort of grumpy but our server was sweet. read more

Food was okay, but as the reviews said NOT 5 star ! It is expensive here. I came here the first time. Had chicken sandwich. The lettuce inside was brown and not fresh. French fries were cold and hard. We wanted to order 3 Turkish coffee ! Wow.. $25 for 3 coffee.. $8 for a single Turkish coffee. That is ridiculous.. Come on .. Cappuccino is $6:50. Less expensive than putting 1/2 tbsp Turkish coffee in water!! Service was not good. The lady was rude and ignored us . I will not come here again. read more

Just came here for the first time and it was DELICIOUS! Had a Santa Ana omelette and hot chocolate. The omelette was one of the best I have ever had - cheese, egg, and peppers. So let's do a critical review of the "stress test" which cost us $23.81 for two people. The person at the podium in front took our name and my cell number to text us when ready. The line for ordering was out the door but the system paged us and said "your table is ready" so we waited in line outside the front door for 10 minutes and finally transitioned to the inside line which took another 10 minutes to order. I would say that the timing of when the system texts you needs some work. We ordered a Classic Breakfast with CRISPY bacon, home potatoes, multi-grain toast, a side of pork sausage and a cappuccino. The enclosed receipt does not accurately reflect what we ordered. The bacon was floppy and not fully cooked. The home potatoes were not done and soggy. The sausage was dry and tasted old. The cappuccino was perfect. So I would say that this Poached Kitchen location, compared to our prior experience of things done perfectly, failed the "stress test" - when tables and lines were full, it could not deliver it's normal well-prepared meals. They also failed to check back at the table which is a standard service item they have observed for many months. Of course new people still in training can account for alot of this kind of experience. We detected new people we had not seen before. We generally consider management accountable for ensuring that new employees are properly trained. We have not seen the food preparation break down before. This was a first but then we've never seen this many people lined up waiting for tables. Of course all kinds of things go on simultaneously that stress the system.... to go orders from online sources, people trying to box their leftovers, etc. Poached has a whole team of people who just worry about clearing tables, setting up tables with water, etc. This of course allows higher turnover and better utilization along with better customer service. Our takeaway today is: don't come to poached kitchen when it's packed....come earlier before 8am. and notice they serve lunch as well.

And yes, that comes with one very important disclaimer: no seafood* I'm allergic. Everything was phenomenal. And I mean everything. Most restaurants treat eggs like a supporting character a side dish, a filler, something added to make the plate appear more substantial. Santa Ana Brunch Club clearly sees them differently. The scrambled eggs were impossibly fluffy, beautifully seasoned, and carried an original flavor profile that was immediately distinguishable from any other eggs I've encountered. They weren't there to fill space; they were part of the composition. Now, what did I order? Bubbies Fried Chicken n Pancakes substituted with French toast. And this French toast... It looked like something pulled directly from the pages of a culinary magazine or lifted from a beautifully produced food television show. It was almost so visually perfect that I felt like I shouldn't touch it. But once I did, the presentation became secondary because the flavor was even more impressive. I have never considered myself a French toast person. Most of the time, it simply isn't executed properly, so I've always gravitated toward pancakes because, well... it's pretty difficult to completely mess up a pancake. The result was essentially an elevated interpretation of the chicken and waffle concept, except this felt like it had been taken into an entirely different culinary universe. This wasn't simply breakfast. It was a redefinition of breakfast. The kind of dish that makes you reconsider an entire category of food you thought you already understood. And then there were the drinks. The Berry Bloom is one of those drinks that makes you stop after the first sip and think, why isn't this bottled and sold everywhere? It's an incredibly well-balanced spritz bright, refreshing, fruit-forward without becoming overly sweet, and composed in a way that makes it feel effortless. This is something I could genuinely see becoming a nationwide bottled sensation. The White Rum Vanilla Bean Latte takes a completely different approach. We went to this place by accident because we had forgotten the experience the last time around. It was worse this time. The food was bland, nowhere close to delicious Turkish food we regularly enjoy. The owner says that the "Anatolian" flavors must not suit my taste buds. I guess that's a way of saying "it's not us, it's you." We asked for sour cream for eggs, but were given half-and-half in a cup and told that it is sour cream. I guess that is Anatolian too. I asked for soft boiled eggs and no one had a clue what I meant, so I received hard boiled eggs instead that were clearly not cooked today. They came out instantly, cold and cut in half. Clearly, they were not made to order. My lentil soup also came out barely lukewarm. The rose "preserves" and honey were artificial sugary sauces with some type of corn starch. The cucumber and tomato salad was also pre-made and was soggy. On the bright side, the bread and olives were good, and the Utopia latte was tasty too. We placed a catering order from here today, and unfortunately, my experience left much to be desired. We ordered vegetarian sandwiches, but there was a mix-up with the order. What disappointed me even more was the lack of accountability from the manager. When I brought the issue to the manager's attention, instead of acknowledging the mistake and taking steps to rectify it, the manager repeatedly asked, "What do you want me to do?" which was quite disheartening considering the role she holds. Notably, our order amounted to over $800 for our company, and given the substantial nature of the order, we expected a higher level of commitment to resolving the issue. Suggesting a solution or alternative and following through with it, especially given the significant amount spent, would have made a significant difference. I hope the management considers improving their customer service, especially when it comes to addressing mistakes in orders. I've been here twice, one of those visits was today. I want to start my saying the staff was amazing and very sweet, hostess was overwhelmed and not the nicest but the rest were wonderful. Their system is a little odd, you have to wait for the hostess to put a number at a table for you, then you go in line and wait to order at the stand. For the food, the coffee and pastries are incredible however, both times I've been here (for me and my fiance) we both agree that the food is extremely bland. There is absolutely no flavor to the meals. Today I for the omelette which had no salt, nothing just bland eggs with some sausage that was also flavorless. My fiance got the chicken panini which was exactly the same, and the chicken was very dry. overall, we paid $85 for two pastries, coffee, soda, and two entrees. Food was good and came out quickly. However, we ordered 2 turkish coffees for $8 each that came out with food. By the time we finished eating we asked them to heat the coffee for us since it was very cold and undrinkable. The manager was very rude and passively aggresive and started arguing that we ordered the coffee early and we should have drunk it the first thing and he couldn't do anything about it. Just from this brief interaction i know that i'm not coming here again and i wont be recommending the place to anyone wanting to try it. read more

The food was really good, and the ambiance is very nice. My dish was the cacio e peppe pasta and it was very good. The toast was a little hard but the flavor was good. My friend got the American platter and enjoyed it. Another friend got the Vegetarian omelette and she said it was good but a bit cold. Overall I recommend this place and I've yet to try the pastries. The only drawback is that you have to order your food at the counter and the line can move very slow (it took about 15-20 min before I could order) read more

The second time we went there again. We found the same waiter who works there. Do not believe how bad treatment there is. No one has the right to treat customers like this. Why do they allow those who do not know how to deal with people to work. I will never go there again I thought the treatment had changed.
