I've had fun nights here so I was super disappointed on Friday 8/13 when I brought my friends And the bouncer at the door was creepy, rude And sexist to the women in line. He was making creepy comments about some women inside the bar, asked us to "get our titties in line" and put his arm around my friends shoulders. We asked him not to touch us and Ofcourse left. This bar is catered to locals. Nothing wrong with that. Just feel if they changed a few things, they can get more customers. On my 2nd visit yesterday. The bar was mostly full with the local crowd. No music playing, just felt very dull. Ordered a Tito & sprite. Price was reasonable. Had issues getting my money out of my wallet. Can hear the bartender murmuring " come on I need the money" not a good look in my opinion. I will most likely not come back. But again, just feel if they at least had some background music, it would "liven" up the place a bit. read more

if i could leave a zero star review i would. the bartender on the night of 12/3, kicked my friends and i out for no reason, when a group of older men sitting by the bar kept staring and making comments. she did nothing to stop it and instead kicked us out, even though i left a tip, we were all just casually talking and sitting at a table being harassed and instead kicked us out. she was completely unprofessional and rude about it. read more

CHECK OUT REBEL OR RAILROAD BARS. This bar in downtown Livermore needs to get shut down immediately. Whoever the owner is should be disappointed in the bartenders. All the bartenders are pushing 50,extremely rude, racists, and entitled. While I was there my friend ordered a drink while bartender took hours to serve the drink she said ur getting kicked out for not giving me a tip. When I left I also saw two other people get kicked out one person for not tipping and another who was the owner of another bar in downtown kicked out for the same reason. Bartenders here get sloppy drunk and feel entitled especially the bartender named Wendy who threatens customers. Expect to see only old people or young high school drop outs in this bar. This bar was good a couple years ago but these new bartenders have got to go. I did report these incidents to LPD. Will not be returning back and tell people all around Livermore to not go there anymore. read more

Dive Bar says it all...just not in a great way. 70's decor I can't honestly talk about the prices because I don't buy my own drinks What everyone says about the diverse crowd is true - There are icky older guys being pervy by the jukebox and teenage boys acting goofy by the shuffleboard. Ladies if you want to get ogled and leered at by guys in their 50's and get a get a creepy, dirty feeling just walking to the bathroom then this is the place to be! They yelled and cut off another guy for no honest reason before that. Bartenders are rude and take forever to serve you. The old people in there are all really creepy and inappropriate. The V and E best place to be! Got an AMF was made perfect. Didn't even give me the green poopoo the next day. Beer is fairly priced bartenders are always smiling. Maybe the devils lettuce has some influence? The billiards and shuffleboard tables are well kept and super fun to play. Ordered food from the touch kiosk and it did not disappoint. Tried the Philly cheese steak gyro. Came in 15 minutes from who knows where but it was piping hot! They forgot my ranch but insisted to bring me some. And it was a straight 10 banger! Sabertooth spotting is awesome here. I had never heard the term until Angelo F told me about it. Basically, there are cougars and then there are sabertooths. People watching is awesome here. The drinks are fairly strong and the crowd is well mixed. I have never been to a place with such a diverse crowd of people. The pool table should be moved into an area where there's less traffic though. That would be my only complaint. We hopped over here after going to Sauced. I guess things got a little crazier after I had left. If you're looking for a place to chat up with some locals, stop here. Drinks were a little pricey but definitely a strong pour. read more

The V&E is pretty damn awesome, I must admit. Being a dive bar aficionado you never really know what you're going to get out of a bar upon making your first appearance, but this place is a dive after my own heart. The patrons are friendly (most of them.. ran into a mega bitch one day) and the barkeeps are on point and courteous. The overall atmosphere is relaxed and friendly, making it a great place to strike up conversations with random strangers. I love that! Only con: I wish they had more beers suited to my tastes on tap. Wow talk about a blast from the past. This place looks like it could be hip back in the 70's, wood panel walls and all! All that is missing are the bell bottoms and the porn staches on dudes. Seemed to be a place where everyone knows each other, either that's a sign that everyone in there is a freaking alcoholic. The extra star is for the clean bathrooms and that's about it. As a long-time Yelp user, this is my first review. I've never experienced so much unnecessary aggression from a bar I've visited. At 11 pm, we put $5 into the jukebox to play a few holiday songs to reminisce with friends. Around 1 am, a fight broke out in the bar and the jukebox was turned off. My younger sister asked if we could be reimbursed for the money we put into the jukebox, and one of the employees threatened her with violent language and told her that an app was necessary to actually hear the music. I realize that $5 is not a huge sum of money, but I was astounded by the level of disrespect we received. I realize that bars on main drags probably deal with a lot of difficult people, but we politely asked for an explanation and were screamed at in response. The level of rudeness we received when asking for an explanation (not even a refund) was completely out of line. read more

I'm not from the area but I heard about this place so when I was in the neighborhood I decided to pop my head in for a bit. And when I walked in I could tell the place was mostly filled with locales sitting at their usual barstool and they were having very boring conversations, mostly bitching about work. It was like an updated episode of Cheers including the fat Kirsty Alley. My friends and I headed straight for the bar and was surprised to be get quick, courteous service from the older, gentleman barkeep (he could have passed for a senior citizen version of Woody). I asked him if he knew how to make an irish car bomb and he didn't hesitate to set us up with a couple. He even made one for himself and toasted up with us so that got him some extra $$$ on the tip (did people ever tip on Cheers?). Plus the irish car bombs were only $7 and we got some hef for $4 a glass too. To this day, I haven't been able to beat that deal anywhere else! Anyway so we're sitting there and they have this video game strip poker thing where if you win, the girl on screen takes off a glove or one side of her garter. And for you ladies out there (and some guys too I guess), you can choose a firefighter. So we're in there like 10mins and that's when we realize we're sitting next to the drunkest person in the place. She looks like Tanya Harding on a good day (which is still ewwww....), including the waterfall bangs and black mascara eyeliner thing and gets up from the stool next to us, clumsily pops off seat and stands in place for about 30sec. Not standing straight up like a normal person. Her legs were in a wide, rock n roll stance and she was leaning on the stool so she had like a tripod thing going there. Her bf (?) starts harassing her and laughing at her and threatening to leave her there if she threw up. But you know when you're that drunk you shouldn't even say the word "throw up" because... well, it makes you want to throw up. Next thing I know she's staring down the front door like it was Nancy Kerrigan smiling her big horse teeth away. And then she makes a run for it- she bolts for the door and shoulder rams it open like a linebacker. My friends and I look around and absolutely no one has a reaction- I guess to them it must mean it must be 9:38pm and Tanya's heading over to Naught N Nice now- just another Saturday night... So would I go back? Heck yes! But only if that girl is there and since it's a local hang out, I'm sure she'll be there (and that she's reading this right now). Wassup girl... you need a right home? I was here last weekend with a friend of mine who is Autistic. There was a group of cowboys to our right that wanteds to fight my friend because they wanted him to buy them a drink (wtf?) for no reason. When my friend declined to do so, they started talking amongst themselves and my friend heard them say that they're going to kick his ass. Seriously? These guys were all in their fifties, at least, why are they trying to fight a 30 year old man with autism? We left a few minutes later with two other friends of mine who have also had a confrontation with these cowboys before. The situation was my one friend from England was playing pool and was on quite the winning streak, which one of the cowboys didn't like. He slammed his hands down on the pool table told English Friend to stop playing pool so others can play if they want. Every pool player in Livermore knows that if you want to play pool, you write your name on the pool list and play the winner when your turn is up. English Friend told Cowboy to put down some quarters and play him when his turn comes. Cowboy didn't like this, but I don't know what the outcome was. These cowboys come to VE Club frequently and always bully patrons like this. Why have they not been kicked out yet? Pardon my tongue, but it's fucked up that they're allowed to stay here. I've been in livermore for almost 20 years and never ventured into this place until a friend recommended we check it out after seeing a show at the bankhead. It was hopping on friday night, had a decent selection of good beers on the cheap, and the shuffleboard table was a blast. We met a great cross-section of very cool people ranging from young to old. I will return, this was a classic bar - and much more "livermore" than some of the other bars on first street. But I will say the staff was immediately charming even through what seemed like a rough exterior. The drinks? Just how I like them: strong and cheap. As many have said this is a locales bar and they let you know it. I found the environment was a little rude towards new people and not so comfy to just have a conversation in a bar with someone. The bartender was no score either but efficient. But . . . the place is pretty large, complete with a long bar, pool table, one of those new jukeboxes, tables etc . . . so plenty of room for a group. I had a really bad experience here. It was packed this evening because it's Livermore Rodeo so there was a long wait for their restroom. My friend and I went in together (because that's what girls do) and someone was pounding on the door the ENTIRE time. We definitely were not taking an excessive amount of time.. just doing our business and heading back out. I opened the door to find the bartender was the one pounding on the door. She proceeded to yell at us for taking too long and screaming "I F***ing work here" and cussed us out. This was probably the most unprofessional experience I've ever had at a bar. CASH ONLY! what Year is this? This place is ok, it is super chill but on Saturday night it was pretty busy and the staff couldn't keep up. I don't know why the bar doesn't employ younger bartenders? but the staff that was there Saturday night were kinda slow and overworked.
