I went here a lot a few years ago and they were great, but apparently they got new management and the last 3 times I've gone I've been disappointed. Katelyn was my nail tech to get a gel fill, and she was awesome at filing my nails and shaping them...but then she passed me off to another nail tech. I don't know what her name was because she wasn't wearing her nametag. In between coats of polish she would file the edges of my nails and dust would get in the polish! So my nails are bumpy. She also did uneven coats of paint so it looks splotchy. This is the last straw and I won't be coming back and will be warning my friends not to go there. read more

NEVER GET WAXED THERE! They are not sanitary in the slightest when it comes to waxing. I went in for a bikini wax and left halfway through. First of all they covered the waxing table with a fuzzy blanket. No idea when it had last been washed or what but in my regular experience it is usually that paper materiel like in a doctors office that is replaced. Secondly THEY USED THE SAME POPSICLE STICK TO WAX ME FOR HALF THE SESSION BEFORE I HAD ENOUGH AND LEFT! So disturbing to think because I used to get my eyebrows waxed in high-school and with my eyes closed I just assumed they used a new stick each time. To think of how many women who get waxed end up using wax that is totally unsanitary. Thirdly I don't believe I will go back to even a manicure or a pedicure. If they don't even take the time to use a new popsicle stick each time what makes you think they really clean their tools or use new ones when you are supposed to. read more

They tried to cheat my friend and I when we came in for a pedicure by not telling us they didnt have certain things on their deluxe pedicure when we asked for it. Supposed to be getting an actual massage for 12 mins & a hot stone massage for 5, they did our massage for probably 4 mins total with no effort at all. The lady that did my friends toes re did it 6 times because she was in such a hurry and didnt give it enough time to dry. And to also add, our "french tips" look terrible and super thick, when we told them we wanted it thinner they looked at each other and laughed at us. I told them they should have told us they didnt have sugar scrub to go with the pedicure we chose before we even started everything and they said "they didnt update their menus" i told them it wasnt my problem, im the customer and want to know what im paying for. I have gone there a few times but quit going because the service was not as it should be. So I went with my daughter recently and my tech was not capable to do her job satisfactory. She snipped my big toe cuticle. She hardly scribbled my feet. Like she only took like two strokes on each foot, never cleaned under the nails. Didn't file good. Same with my fingers. Unfortunately, I did not get the name of the person who did my manicure but it was a younger gentleman who was incredibly detail-oriented. I asked for extra hand massage ($5) and I barely felt it. My nails had scratches from the polish on them by the time I got out and I had to go back in and tell her to fix it. Girls playing cards and chomping/eating without masks because they have no customers. One of 3 customers was able to get their nails done with no mask. My toes basically look like my child did them. I even went back to have them fixed. Some toes are lightly painted, some are so think they may never dry, and polish is everywhere on my toes. I always have this experience when I go every few years, but was in a pinch today and hoped for the best. Those who go there regularly do not know what a quality job is. I used to SWEAR by this place. I'd tell everyone to go here for excellent service and beautiful nails. But I can say that after my last visit I will never be going again. I had gotten acrylics done and they looked gorgeous but after 2 days they broke and started to bubble. This wasn't the problem, but I called and asked them about this. They told me to come in and get them fixed for free. I was very happy about this. When I got there I told them multiple times how I was getting them fixed for free. I gave them who I talked to, when I called and when I got them done. Everyone seemed to understand what I was there for. Except the girl doing my nails. After asking me several times "fix? Fix?" And me agreeing, she began to fill my nails. Now, at that time, I didn't know what I fill looked like, I have never had the money to ever fill my nails I usually let them grow out. I didn't stop her because I thought she was fixing them like she asked. Now fills aren't free. I had 3 dollars in my bank account and no way to pay these ladies. She asked "how will you be paying?" And I said "this was supposed to be free?" And she started to yell. In front of everyone she yelled and yelled and I repeated "this isn't what I asked for" and she said "I asked if you wanted fill you said yes!" And I said "no I came for a fix" and she continued to yell. This is where it got bad. She went and got the manager and I was already having a panic attack. I've never even cheaped out on tipping let alone an entire service. I tried to explain everything to the manager and told them exactly what happened. The girl who did my nails continued to yell "liar!" At me while I spoke and the manager kept repeating "you can't get labor for free" which I understood and I never wanted free labor. After a long nd loud argument in front of the 30+ people in the shop she finally said "I can fix this". She then got clippers out of her drawer and held me down forcibly and continued to chop off my nails one by one without caution. I asked her to please stop because she was hurting my arms and scaring the shit out of me. She just kept repeating "It's okay" and I kept saying "this isn't okay" as she held me down harder. After she finished butchering all.of my nails off she got up and I ran out. I've never went back and I never will. This is the most terrifying and unprofessional encounter I have EVER had. read more

Beware! I was a long time client here but it the sanitation and training has steadily declined. I went in for a pedicure and while the technician was doing routine snipping for ingrown on my big toe (please note that I DID NOT have any redness, swelling, infection or even irritation when I went in for the appointment) she stabbed the clippers deep into my cuticle. It started bleeding and it hurt. The next day it was bright red and irritated. Over the next two days it started turning green. The doctor said it was due to unclean tools used at the salon. I went back to VV nails and The owner implied that it was like that when I went in for my pedi... which it WAS NOT. I actually had to demand my money back since they refused responsibly. I had to have surgery on my toe and lost part of my nail. DO NOT GO THERE... They refuse to take responsibility for their equipment and the wellbeing of their clients! read more

I was beyond disappointed during my visit. I called in advance to make an appointment with a specific nail tech, spoke to her on the phone and she confirmed my visit for that day. When I arrived they asked "what do you need" I said I have an appointment, they stated my nail tech wasn't in that day. I stated I had just spoken to her on the phone and they said someone else would help me. After a few minutes I was helped by another nail tech, sat down to get a pedicure & to my surprise the woman getting a pedicure right next to me happened to be getting a pedicure by the nail tech I was told wasn't in that day. How did I know? Well the fact that she was wearing a name tag & I recognized her voice from the phone call her earlier!! I immediately called them out and they admitted she had overbooked that day. Decided to go here on a Sunday afternoon with no appointment. I walked in and nobody greeted me. One gal was on the phone at the front counter when I walked in and she didn't even acknowledge me. A group of 2 came in after me and was greeted and sat before I was. Once I was seated in the chair I started with one nail tech, but during the painting, she switched with another nail tech. The Second Lady then rushed me out of there after her crappy paint job. She put my shoes on before my polish was dry, which to me seemed like she was rushing me out. When I got to my car, my nail smudged so I considered going back in to fix it but quickly made the decision to never go back. When I got home, I removed the crappy polish and painted them myself. ! The problem here is; if you don't have time to see a walk-in- then say so or tell me to come back at a different time. Don't rush someone and then expect a tip for terrible service. I'm extremely disappointed that I paid for the better pedicure package and got worse than the basic package. I don't plan to come back and hope you don't give this place business either! read more

OMG This place requires an intervention!!! The techs are good, especially Tracy & Mindy, who are THE BEST!!! But the management is HORRIBLE. They rush and push and bully the techs, who clearly want to provide good service.The female owner is abrupt, and is neither friendly nor helpful. She hovers over staff, is SUPER unprofessional, interrupts your services with her nagging the techs over non-critical issues, she is just plain SUPER annoying!!! She expects you to contort yourself for a mani AND pedi while in the pedi chair. Stop rushing my services to get to others in next when I am on time or make me wait ridiculous amounts of time, especially when I have a scheduled appt. It's absurd! Worst nail salon experience yet. I was twice offered and never given a beverage. My toes are recently shellacked so I asked for the basic pedicure with soak, exfoliation and massage only. The menu said 15 minutes of stone massage. I got a lotion application and a brief caress of the hot stone, definitely not a 15 minute minute massage. She insisted on fussing with my toenails, poking painfully at recently trimmed cuticle and roughly filing the tips of my toes (because my toes were just done and didn't need filing). I told her THREE times she was hurting me. I'm not sure the instruments were clean. For my manicure she did not clean under my fingernails. She made me bleed by cutting cuticles too close. The hand/arm massage was scant and she kept coughing without covering (she had a mask but not the same). I went with a friend who wanted to go for her birthday, for those wondering. read more

Vivian: I was there for a pedi amd fill. The pedi was the worst ive ever had. She took the fie and cut me twice. Took the cuticle scrapper and dug it it my toes. My favorite part is the massage and she had super feather pressure and went very fast. The fill was worse! She started out burning my nail beds. Proceeded to put acrylic on with a fat brush which made me have it in my cuticles. Woke up this morning with my fingers sore!!!!! Ive been here about 4 times before and had an ok time, but this was not ok. Girls note to you all: it is soooooooooooooooo rude in a salon environment to be talking to your coworkers non stop no matter what language you speak. Your guest should be your priority. I work in a salon myself and not sure why your lowering the standard in a hospitality services. I am a firm believer that the mantra "you get what you pay for" does not apply to manicures. I've had some fantastic manicures in the range of $10-$20, but unfortunately, you cant have that here. Upon entering, the chemical smell was so strong I had to catch my breath (and I'm not even someone who is sensitive to smells). The place was like a factory with 20 employees standing around, directing you to your numbered chair. In the middle of the treatment, the manicurist answered a cell phone call, got a drink, stopped to talk, clean another station... the list goes on. It was really annoying. They made me buy a $2 set of pumice stone and buffer, which is fine because I can use them at home anyway, BUT the manicurist didn't even use anything from that set during my procedure.... so why did she insist that I but it? Had one pedicure here which was fine so decided to get a manicure. Does anyone give a decent manicure anymore? One gal starts. I tell her I've already shaped my nails so no need to file more. She proceeds to file my nail to a perfect square. Try to explain but she does not understand enough English... Another gal comes over and starts cutting cuticles. Asked her not to trim around the base of my nails (which she's already done) but not listening. I should have gotten up at this point but didn't. From here it's really my fault just for staying. Another gal comes and starts to polish. It's applied thickly and left to pool into the sides of my nails. I finally leave with my base of my nails irritated from clipping, polish which is thick and pooling into the sides of my nails, and a cashier who is telling me there's nothing they can do but have someone fix them. Great but at this point I am on my way to an event and cannot stay. PLEASE, employ technicians that can easily communicate with your clientele, care enough to keep one manicurist with each client from start to finish, don't be in so much of a rush and give a decent manicure. read more

Not sure why the owner and some of the nail technicians never wear face masks? The past three times I have been in, this has been the case. I have a compromised immune system and I find it alarming when staff/employees can't follow the simple state guidelines to wear masks in order to keep customers safe. I would expect that the owner should set an example to the rest of the staff. However, the owner never seems to wear a mask, AND she never seems to wear shoes either. This place used to be my #1 place to go to. Last time I went I got solar ger, which is supposed to last atleast 4 weeks. Vivian did my set she did a terrible a job. She was in a hurry to finish them and they looked absolutely terrible. She was not gentle at all and my nails hurt. To top it off, a week later my nails started chipping and falling off. I've been a faithful customer at V&V for years, right up until I moved to Manhattan. I came back home last week for a family vacation, and my mom and I stopped into V&V to get our nails done. First, the polish selection is atrocious. No new colors, no Essie, and everything is old and thinned out. I chose a very bright neon pink for my pedi. The bottle was virtually empty, so I asked if I could change the color. I asked for the polish I wanted by name, and the woman still told me to go get it myself with just-lotioned feet across the linoleum floor. Good thing I didn't fall. It took the lady 4 coats to make it look even somewhat-presentable. I think the lady noticed my displeasure, because she offered to re-do the paint job. Which was nice, until she implied she was going to paint directly over the top of the shitty job. Um... I don't think 6 COATS of paint will ever dry, no thanks. After that little mess of a pedi, I begin my gel mani. Initially, I was excited to see that they used the Gelish system at V&V. It's the brand my favorite salon in Manhattan uses and those manis last me 2-3 weeks of nail perfection. The first thing wrong with the picture - she begins by soaking my nails. I have gotten gel manis religiously for years, and I'm no nail tech myself but I know that soaking the nails = peeling polish. And I was right. It looked fantastic (minus the cuticle she cut) and the color was adorable, but it started peeling around my cuticles just 2 days into my vacation. Lastly, I went back after vacation to get the terrible gel off my nails and a toe polish change, and told the manager how disappointed I was. Nothing was done to reprimand the situation, she told me I must have hit something (because I was working SO hard in Hawaii..?) And they got polish on my dress. One star for being a favorite place of my childhood, one star for the cute interior. This place needs some training in both technique and customer service. Go somewhere else. read more

To be honest even though I gave them 2 stars, they are still the best in the area. Having said that since my last experience I won't go back again. First time I went to them - It was with my daughter. The mani pedis were amazing- so next weekend - I went solo. Shellac mani and lux pedi (75$) plus a 10 dollar tip for my nail tech - Bottom line I enjoyed it - it was great and the shellac mani looked awesome. Two weeks later I go - service was subpar - paid $90 saying $75 was a mistake. (i didn't see any mark ups on the menu - and disregarded. Toes were done perfectly shellac was horrid. It was goopy, lumpy and covering the remnants of my old shellac! So I will never set foot in there again. read more

Went here on Sunday for a pedi with friends. There are so many chairs. More than I've ever seen in 1 shop. They also have 2 kids chairs with DVD players & lots of DVDs to choose from. Thats where the positives end for me. I had a really good massage & liked the fragrance of the foot soak. Negatives - Polishes have been diluted. My color looks like something I could have done at home by myself. Don't expect it to last long. You have to move to waiting room type chairs for the paraffin which is annoying. For a $25 pedi, I expected a leg masque or scrub in addition to paraffin. It'd be nicer/more sanitary if they filled plastic bags with the paraffin & then brought them to the customers instead of making them move & dip their feet in a paraffin bath that everyone else uses. I didn't get a top coat of polish either. There are lots of great salons around, don't bother with this one. read more

I came here for the first time to get shellac manis/pedis with my girlfriend. My friend and I sat down in the pedicure chairs at about the same time, but her pedicure started immediately. I had to wait about 20 minutes for mine to start. We had booked our appointments together, and I expected them to start together you know, so we could chat. Well my friend was done with her pedi 20 minutes before me, and went right into her shellac manicure. At this point, I think the manager noticed that my pedicure was still going on, and I think told the girl doing my nails to hurry up so I could sit with my friend. She did a decent job on my feet. However, when we moved onto the shellac manicure, the lady doing my nails didn't even bother to remove all remnants of my previous polish job. She just painted the new color over old paint chips from before. I guess she felt rushed to catch up to my friend's nail tech, so she was cutting some corners. Anyways, my friend was pretty happy with how her nails turned out. My shellac was a lumpy ugly mess. The fact that she didn't care about removing my previous polish just annoyed me. Did she think I wasn't going to notice these giant bumps in my polish? I wouldn't ever go back here on my own. It just seemed really disorganized. read more

Yesterday my mom went in for a simple pedicure. Was talked into the special pedicure, which is something she usually enjoys except for this time. She said the woman went through the pedicure so fast, did not try to have some kind of dialogue with her. The women talked & laughed non stop with her coworkers. Then when it came time to pay which is usually about $41 was told that the price jumped up to $48! My mom and I go there often I understand that there is a language barrier. But I also know that it's possible to have good customer service. Eye contact, smiling, and some kind of acknowledgment. The price is too high for the bad polish job and horrendous customer service we will never go back there again!! read more

Been going here since it opened. Had new tech who did my nails, who was obviously grumpy. When I left the salon I looked at my toenails; took this picture; and called the manager, Aaron, who didn't seem a bit concerned about the status of my toenails. Said he'd judge them when I came in. Went back; asked for Aaron and got instead the same grumpy tech who looked at my toes and said what did you do? I hadn't done anything to change the pedicure and was taken back. Pointed out the strange angle on the nail and the polish left on the skin of this toe and others. She said it was my toe's fault and it was cut right. I'll leave that to you to decide. It's never happened before. After much grumbling she filed it down a bit saying she would cut into the nail bed. She cleaned up some of the polish on my toes and threw each wad of cotton on the floor. Told her I could tell she was mad, but I wasn't happy either having to come back. She stalked off, leaving the used cotton strewn across the floor. Aaron, the supposed manager, never came to talk to me or see my nails. The only male employee in the salon stood at the desk about 10 feet from me and made no eye contact or even look in my direction. I would have told Aaron a few things he might have found interesting. The nail tech told me, at least, five times that she could come to my house to do my nails. She scowled when I turned down the extra services, although I usually have the salt scrub. I wanted out of the shop. I, also, realized after I left, that she didn't disinfect the soaking bowl on the pedicure chair, as every other tech I've had there has done. Suspect that is a health code violation. Usually pedicures at this shop are done well, but this time was awful. I won't go back. read more

Wow, there's some bad reviews of this place! I definitely did not share their experiences and actually had a fabulous time with my best friend. She lives around the corner and usually gets Tracy, but this time I lucked out and got her. Tracy's polite, efficient and a genius with her hands. We watched the Olympics Women's Volleyball (USA vs S. Korea) and had some great conversations about it while she did my manicure and pedicure. Yes, they chit chat with other manicurist while they work. No, I doubt they're shittalking us. Honestly, I could care less even if they are. My manicure and pedicure are spot-on. No bubbles, no insta-chipping upon exiting the salon. It's worth the $40-ish for the bit of heaven they dole out. Don't trust my review, go and ask for Tracy and judge for yourself. read more

I gave V&V Nails 3 stars today, but 6 months ago this would have been at least a 4 star rating. I really feel the place has gone downhill. The technicians are always in a hurry and don't take their time to make my nails look the best they could. I have gone in with friends and they don't sit us next to each other, I took my niece there and they sat us next to each other but across the aisle (she is 7 and wanted to sit by me, not a roomful of strangers). My pedicures have been chipping after just a few days (usually a pedicure will last me at least a week, if not longer). Lately I have been getting the shellac manicure, a polish that is supposed to stay on for 2 weeks and it has been peeling off after just a few days! I have had shellac at other salons and it lasts at least 2 weeks with no chipping or peeling. Lastly, they nickle and dime you here and don't tell you it's extra. 50 cents to use your Visa, $2 dollars for your nail kit, $5 extra for french or flowers. I don't mind these charges as they are standard at most salons, but what irks me here is that they ask if you want the service and don't tell you up front that it's extra. I took my stepsister here and (once again) they didn't sit us next to each other. They asked her if she wanted flowers and french tips, she said yes not knowing it was extra. She is a nail newbie and was shocked when her bill was 10 more dollars then they quoted her. 3 stars because their prices are decent, they have a lot of chairs for manis and pedi and the salon is always clean. Customer service could be greatly improved. Bottom line - I am still on the hunt for a great place for my nails. read more

My friends and I noticed that anytime they saw you pay with a gift certificate the price for the service would go up $5.
