This was the disrespectful unprofessional bartender he needs some refreshers on how to treat customers

I've never experienced anything like this at a bar before. From the moment we walked up, one of the bartenders seemed to have an issue with us for no apparent reason. We were respectful, hadn't caused any problems, yet he refused to serve us without giving a clear explanation. When we asked him to call a manager, he never did, so we had to go find one ourselves. The manager suggested it was "just a misunderstanding," but based on how we were treated, it definitely didn't feel that way. She had us sit down and said another bartender would take care of us. What really crossed the line was when the guys next to us were about to buy us drinks, and the original bartender told them, "Don't do that. They aren't worth it." That comment was completely unprofessional, disrespectful, and unnecessary. We had done absolutely nothing to deserve being spoken about like that. I've been to plenty of bars and have never had a bartender single us out or treat us with that level of hostility. It made what should have been a fun night really uncomfortable. I hope management addresses this because no customer should be treated that way

Great vibe! Haven't been here in years but was in town and friends wanted to check out a bar. It was abnormally quiet as we went on a Monday night and Warriors were playing (so everyone was at Yard House). But drinks were good and it was a chill place to catch up. Happy hour prices were good!

I'm kind of shocked at the low rating here! I always love coming here for an espresso martini! It's such a vibe here. I love the darkness and the red counter top! Service is always friendly! Nice views of the row from the balcony! Expensive drinks, but to be expected when at Santana Row.

Although this is probably one of the more expensive bars in the area I love the vibe. It's a super lively place with a decent amount of indoor seating. There is a very small narrow balcony and a large covered outside area that open til 1130pm. I love how friendly the bartenders and security are! All our drinks were perfection. It's a great place to go for a night out

I used to come here regularly when I was in grad school, so it brings back memories, taking those elevators up to the third floor of Hotel Valencia. The place is still as lovely as I remember, upscale, with dim red lighting inside and an inviting outdoor space with a beautiful fountain at the center. During my recent visit, the outdoor space was covered and felt like it was heated inside the patio enclosure, a perfect setup during the colder season. There was plenty of seating available throughout on a Sunday night, bar seating, lounge seating, and outdoor seating. It was nice to have options, rather than the weekend crowds I remember. We got a few cocktails (wild watermelon, raspberry lemon drop, and moscow mule), and they were all made well, tasty and strong... as I'd expect based on the high costs. Service was standard, not super attentive, but good enough. However, they tried to overcharge us $30 extra! Honest mistake, maybe, but I think it's careless, especially for a place that charges $20+ per drink. It was quickly fixed, and we still had a good experience regardless.

I loved the interior vibe and the pop art decorations inside the bar. It wasn't too hard to get the bartenders attention. Drinks were good, price was fair, and our party of 4 was able to find seating so it was an overall good experience!

This is the best lounge on Santana Row and probably in all of San Jose. Usually come in to meet up with a few buddies and then have a few drinks and the night always turn into such a good time. The menu was updated, but I wouldn't know since I order the same negroni all the time. I sometimes switch it up with a Tequila spritz but that's rare. Only shots and Negronis for me. The inside is very classy and upscale unlike some of the other Lounges in the area. You meet some of the most interesting people at this lounge. Service is always top notch, especially when you have the best bartender in the bay working there. If you ever come through ask for Bruno and he'll take good care of you. Love this lounge to death, happy that I made it one of my regular drinking spots!

Can I come at 12:01 AM the night of my birthday? I know CA doesn't have a law against this, but I'm assuming bars might have their own policy?

I went here a few imes a couple of years ago when he drinks and appetizers were $6 apiece. Is that still true?

I walked in and stood waiting to be seated while an employee, who appeared to be the owner or manager, continued talking with her kids instead of acknowledging customers. I don't mind waiting, but a simple "We'll be right with you" would have made all the difference. I decided to give them another chance. On a later visit, I spent a few hours working there and ordered drinks. When a friend joined me, he sat down and was completely ignored. No one came over to greet him or ask if he'd like anything. We eventually had to flag someone down just so he could place an order. After that, our server mentioned that Tuesdays were buy one, get one free on wine. I ordered my second glass, but it never arrived. When I asked another server about it, I was made to feel like I was inconveniencing them. The irony is that I would have happily paid full price--I wasn't the one asking for a deal. They were the ones who brought up the promotion, then acted bothered when I politely asked about the wine that was never delivered. The final straw was our most recent visit. We were seated at a table by the staff, only to be told a few minutes later that we had to move because the tables were supposedly reserved for the party sitting behind us. We moved without making an issue of it, but no one ever ended up using those tables for the entire time we were there. It was frustrating to be relocated after being seated, especially when the explanation didn't match what actually happened. At this point, it's hard to view these experiences as isolated incidents. The common theme has been inattentive service and an attitude that makes customers feel like they're an inconvenience rather than guests. There are too many great wine bars that genuinely appreciate their customers for me to spend any more time or money here.

Within easy walking distance of plenty of parking and a parking garage if you don't find anything on the street nearby . Reservations were easy to make and they had a cute light up Happy Birthday sign waiting on the table! The ambiance was dark but had great ambient lighting . I loved the green velvet booths and decor , which evoked old Hollywood glamour ! Tables were set up in way that you didn't have to maneuver around them to get to the bathroom which was roomy and clean! There was a bat and lounge area to one side and seated dining on the other , Our server Camille was amazing ! So attentive and her timing got delivering each Sri name course was on point . Birthday girl asked for suggestions a fruity house cocktail. Instead of just rattling off the fruity drinks, she asked questions to personalize a suggestion and described each drink! The food was fresh and presented nicely. One of my friends and I decided to each order the poke tacos . I loved them! Even though it was probably an appetizer is the right amount for a light meal. My friends ordered the Korean spice chicken and pan seared salmon and they both complimented their meal. I can't remember the all the names-of the drinks except for the Miami Vice the birthday girl ordered . We also got her one that was served lit on fire ! I w myself was happy that they served Ballast Point Sculpin on draft! The lava cake was served with strawberries and delicious! The birthday girl even got a bowl of ice cream, a candle and huge sparkler to hold while we sang happy birthday . I debated rating on my 4 stars for the noise level , but honestly , I can't fault the restaurant for parties having fun . It's a testament to venue excellence! One table though seamed to communicate in hysterical screams every time they had a new drink served. Great place for groups, drinks and easy reservations! My friend used OpenTable) . Will definitely return.

This is a review for their weekday Bar & Lounge Happy Hour (Tue - Thu 5pm - 10pm... yes, you read…read morethat right... all night Happy Hour). After our first visit last night, I think it's safe to say it is probably the best Happy Hour offering in the SF South Bay. Good quality, good value, great service and nice club/lounge ambiance. Here's what we shared food-wise... * HH Garlic Noodles -- This didn't quite meet my expectation. Described as a "perfectly cooked pasta tossed in rich garlic butter", what we got was more like a soft udon type noodle with a rather starchy garlic sauce. The taste was definitely very garlicky, but the dish could have been much better with an al dente pasta tossed in an actual garlic butter or olive oil. * HH Wagyu Smash Burger -- This was yum! Great flavor, nicely grilled served on a toasted soft brioche bun. ($15 on HH versus $32 witha side of fries on the Dinner Menu :o) * HH Hamachi Crudo -- This was superb! Fresh generous slices of yellowtail topped with sliced lemon, jalapeno, tobiko and microgreens, perfectly matched with Ponzu sauce. ($12 on HH for 4 pieces versus $23 for 5 pieces on the Dinner menu) * HH Crab Cakes -- 2 medium sized blue crab cakes with diced mango and spicy aioli. Pretty decent for $14. * HH Crispy Brussels Sprouts -- Good standard fare. For drinks, we enjoyed... * HH Weather Pinot Noir -- Our server, Mikayla, said it was her favorite wine on the HH menu. It was very nice. * HH Mango Deck -- Reposado, Jalapeno syrup, lime and mango puree with a 151 rum flambee. Great drink if you like sweet, sour and spicy... and it comes with a show as the 151 rum is lit. Will definitely return. Would love to try the HH Grand Seafood Tower with oysters, yellowtail and salmon sashimi, shrimp and lobster ($65 on HH) which we saw another table order. Looks like a great place for a larger party celebration too.

Anyway, I met up with some friends here last weekend and we had a reservation at Alter Ego. I guess it's technically 2 places with Still OG. We hung out at our table for the whole night, like 4 hours. We all ordered cocktails off the menu and later on ordered some stuff off the menu based on the bartender's suggestion. I first ordered a Calabrian Spritz from the menu which hit the spot for me. Personally, I am not a hard alcohol fan but I enjoy wine and fun lil cocktails that are slightly sweet/not super strong lol. So this drink was nice because it wasn't too sweet and had a lot of volume (I like just sipping on stuff in general and it sucks when you order a cocktail that's like 3 sips of liquid and the rest is ice). The next cocktail I ordered was off the menu and called Like This or That (I think). I think it was some sort of passionfruit + vodka mix and very delicious! We also ordered the cold soba noodles and fries. Fries were crinkle cut and nicely crispy, no complaints. Soba noodles were also good, though some component of it was really spicy, I think the cucumbers. Overall I had a good time here and look forward to coming back, though given how little I go out, who knows when that will be haha.

Holy cow. SO GOOD. Came here around midnight because I was hungry but I didn't want fast food…read more I wish I asked for our server's name because he was very attentive and made sure we were taken care of. The fried chicken was perfectly battered, cooked, and crispy. I am salivating just looking at the picture I took. The corn and cheese was the perfect side, not too cheesy and the corn was so juicy. And apparently, they're trying to save money on soap by diluting it with what feels like 80% water. I've never seen such a bizarre money-saving tactic. Please just give us real soap. Come on. The bathroom looked like it hadn't been thoroughly cleaned in months. Dust everywhere but given that it's not a fancy restaurant and it's a spot for a late night drinks and eats you kind of expect that from a super crowded place but everyone seem to be having fun and I had a lively atmosphere so despite the watery soap, I guess I would go back, especially for the garlic soy chicken and it's a pretty good late night option.
