We went about a month ago and there was a wedding reception happening on the other side of the restaurant so the big party made it so the food was coming out quickly and everything was really fresh. We tried again just recently and it was a little less impressive. Some of the food had been sitting for too long that it affected the consistency of some of it. So I think with anything, buffets especially, 5 stars when the food is fresh but a little bit of a knock off for when it's not. They do have a ton of options and a sushi bar which I love. It's good for the price and they have a wide variety of food as seen in the pictures. 2 dining areas with an event rooms if you ever plan a special event. We are a regular customers at this buffet, we've been going there since it was "lucky buffet" for about 8 years now, we go on a by weekly basis but today I encountered unexpected reproach... I've been told straight up to my face " No more " In reference to my full plates of shrimp/crab.. the front counter old man ran up to me to pickup the piece of shrimp I dropped while walking and carrying my two plates and shockingly telling me I can't have anymore which killed my appetite. So just had Wild Ginger for lunch today. Ordered simple fried rice with shrimp, Thai ice tea and mango cheesecake. A little reluctant to go out again but been wanting to try since mom says she loves their salt and pepper'ish shrimp. Whoa! Lots of selection. Too full to try it all. W.O.W. This was a first - walking in and asking for a table and being told we have to pay first before we were seated! Should have known then it would have been best if we just turned and walked back out ... but being the gluttons that we are for punishment we had to give it a try. Usually they offer crushed garlic, red peppers, ginger, etc. Here there was just salt and pepper - and you told the cook what you wanted. Needless to say - it was not good. Tried the orange chicken - and it was like chewing on plastic. The chilled shrimp were hard and chalky. The egg drop soup was bland and filmy. We went on a Sunday afternoon and all the customers looked like rejects from the People of Wal-Mart site. Eating food off the buffet. Chewing food as the left the table to get more fried things. I guess when you cook this quality of food - this is the quality of people you get. Actually had to dash to the bathroom while I was there - because whatever I ate just went right through me. While I was in the woman's restroom I looked up and there wasn't one single ceiling tile which didn't have a stain on it. It was disgusting. I'd like to review this place for their customer service. I normally don't go regularly, just on occasion due to family events. They usually rent out the ball room on the left wing for huge family parties. The staff clears plates out quickly and the cooks do an excellent job. I haven't tasted anything that I did not enjoy. V Star has your basic buffet selections, including sushi, which is one of my favorites, seafood, American and Chinese cuisine. The egg drop soup is my favorite as well. Their baked salmon is flavorful and you cannot go wrong with fried rice. Beverages are self serve as well. They also have hot water, hot tea, and iced teas for other selection.
